11 pointsDrove up to Loudon, New Hampshire from Boston this am. Met with Mark Godzik and picked up some 1961 Wheel Horse 701 parts! A hood, a gas tank, some footrests and a steering fan gear link! We had a nice but short visit. Mark has some nice Wheel Horses and a real good interest in the collecting hobby. He made it to the Big Show in Gettysburg this year with his son. He just bought his first round hood a 1968 Wheel Horse Lawn Ranger. Mark lives right behind the NASCAR New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Loudon, New Hampshire is some beautiful territory. A nice stream runs Mark’s place too. Reminds me a lot of Michigan but New Hampshire has a lot of stone walls on the end of each field. Glad I am going to save some getting rare 701parts!

9 pointsOkay, I hunted for the post I'd read about the dozer blade/ snow plow not being level but ould not find it. I had the same issue so I wanted to post my fix in case anyone might benefit. Here was my method Step 1: Level a set of wooden saw benches. Step 2: Place dozer blade on the saw benches so that it rests on the two side rails at two points front and rear. Step 3: Use a torpedo level to determine where the plow frame is twisted by leveling at various points along the frame and the rear 3/4" bar. Step 4: Use a hot blue wrench (oxy/acetylene torch) to heat the area that required adjustment. Step 5: Apply high precision field calibrated instruments to move the frame back to true. (that means I twisted with a 24" crescent wrench and hit it with a 4 pound cross peen. See photos below.

9 pointsSo getting my B80 ready to go to a local show I tried out the LED headlights I put in it. Worked fine when engine was off till I started it then LED pulsed really bad. I know the risk was there for this to happen but in all the tractors or LEDs I've installed never had this problem till the B80. So not being much of a electrician I wasn't fully sure how to fix this. I posted a question about it but didn't get many reply so I don't know if it's been answered and I couldn't find it or if I'm just the only one that doesn't know but if anyone puts LEDs in there wheel horse and has the pulsing issue this solved it for $13 got 2 of them and only needed 1 for the 2 headlights so have a extra incase the 1257 does the same thing. Easy simple fix I like it!

8 pointsI have 4 GE elec trak tractors but yesterday 7/16/21 I bought my first B145 Wheel Horse.. I don't think this unit was used much. All original paint.

8 pointsYou guys may think I am ridiculous for even posting this, but it is a big deal to me. I reused the old choke lever thingy... and made a choke cable for my 51 horse engine! I really like this... as I always had to reach up to choke the engine before. You can also see my new tachometer creation... I also ordered an oil temperature gauge... (going to be a big deal to install)... Forgot to mention my new flip switch, which I love!!! Don

7 pointsTrina put a couple decals on. Also installed the brake/clutch linkage. And popped in the dash plate.

6 pointsJust picked this one up today, not sure what im gonna do with it yet. Just thought I'd share

6 pointsSo, I ignored the 48" deck shell for all of my vacation because there were 25 other things to do. It might be a ME priority but the family comes first. So now that appliances are repaired and tile and sinks are installed and the Ford has its new brakes, I FINALLY got to start painting the deck. I'm not sure about this Sunrise Red. A little too much orange? I like the idea of truck bed liner so this will likely be covered anyway. Hey - I actually took a picture! Get the phone, hit the shed, snap, forward to email, get the laptop....easier to just type

6 pointsPhew its hot here. Did a litter pick and collected 30 bags of rubbish thrown out of cars onto the road side. Also finished a project for a lady who has an old dog who she takes out in a stroller. The handlebar needed replacing so I fabricated a new one for her. I did it pro bono and she got me some beer to say thanks.

5 pointsToday I changed out Hiram's gas tank for one a bit shorter in height. The hood latches now. Still not a "forever" tank for him but at least I can put my tiller back together.

5 pointsSometimes things just need a bit of persuasion. An attitude adjustment if you will. Nice fix.

4 pointsThe goal today was to get the broken steering block off for repair. The broken ear game off easy, but the set screw in the thrust collar was frozen. I need to slide the collar down to get the shaft out of the block. Probably going to end up drilling out the set screw. I worked on the deck while the collar and set screw soak in PB. No holes in the deck, but the belt tensioner was rusted fast to the deck. All cleaned and greased. To be continued.

4 pointsIf your gonna have a side shot, you may as well put in enough sides to make it worth while. In the first pic, they are lined up in the order I got them. C-141, Oct. 2020 Have a few bucks wrapped up into that one. 656, Nov. 2020 Rebuilt the Tecky on this one. I was considering repainting it again. Not Regal Red, or Chinese Red, but back to the Red Primer it was when I got it. I got kind-use to it. My wife and 2 youngest grand daughters vetoed that idea, Letting me know the subject was not open for debate. 876 Mar. 2021 Rebuilt the Genny on that tractor also. I have the deck for this tractor, and thinking about putting it back on, and selling one of the green and yellow things. I also have another deck, but I'm not sure which tractor it came from. The 141 I think. C-125 Mar, 2021 Rebuilt the 12 hp Kohler on this one. I really wanted a Black Hood, and lo and behold it popped up on Facebook. C-175 May, 2021 I also wanted a Kohler twin. Got there and found out it had been switched to a Briggs twin. Bought it anyway. The fact that it was another Black Hood was a bonus. I am going to empty the shed this weekend and rearrange things. Trying to make room for when I get my Senior, My lever Steer, or my D series. Notice I said when I get them, not IF I get them. One of them is bound to show up some day.

4 pointsHere’s my fire department’s bus conversion. It’s our parade float, a tradition that’s been going on for over 50 years. We used to have a lowboy trailer that was towed by my father in law until insurance became in issue. Then we got the bus and converted it so we can have a building on the back and water tank in the middle.Every year we have a different theme. We literally light the building on fire and go through the parade, I mean ripping fire with flames pouring out all four sides. People absolutely love it (most!) we throw water on everyone and everything but the fire! We used to shoot off a 10 gauge shotgun with blanks and scare the crap out of people but apparently that was too much for some people!!!

4 pointsAfter the comments from the other thread about "wheel bearings" I bought enough to change all the bearings on all 6 tractors. Of course I kept all the original bearings in case there's ever a problem. None of them seemed to have any problems, believe me they were well greased. That was the worst part of the job was cleaning up all that old grease.

4 pointsAny of these water separators will remove the condensed moisture. https://www.google.com/search?q=air+water+separator+for+compressor&oq=air+water+seperator&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0i10l9.17062j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 mine is a Sears Craftsman unit I've had for years. The coiled copper tubing in a bucket of cold ice water will condense the humidity in the hot air allowing the separator to remove it. In my case the compressor is located in a barn and there is about 100 feet of 1" PVC line run underground that brings the air to the shop. That PVC line has a low point drain on it so most of the moisture has already condensed out and run back to the drain basin before it ever gets to the shop.

4 pointsAdded a vise and shelf for the welder. I'll add holders for my shielding gas tank once I finally get up the nerve to buy one. Running flux core for now.
-
4 pointsI have seen a ton of these used to haul pulling tractors, so half dozen or so WH's would be no big deal!
-
3 pointsI envy your 24” crescent. I’ll add that magnetic torpedo levels don’t get enough respect. My 18” “precision” crescent and 4 lb hitter (plus a come along and the crotch of a big maple tree, some chain, and an old blanket to protect the tree) helped me straighten a bent trailer frame. I got the trailer for free because the body shop told the PO it wouldn’t fit on their machine and that it should be junked.

3 pointsNice work Bill. @OldWorkHorse take notes here for yours. Other stuff sorted out? Brakes? Running and driving ok?

3 pointsFarmer neighbour walked round this morning when I was busy mowing the lawn, before it got too hot. He talked with Carol and number 3 grandson who was visiting, then all three disappeared. I thought he was maybe moving stock and wanted them to stand at the cross roads. That was not the case. In the afternoon a breeze cooled things down a bit so I mowed the green. I found out where they'd been after dinner. Round to the farm. Why? To see a litter of week old pups. Since losing my two collies, 3 and 2 years ago, they have been much missed. After their passing I said no more dogs. Dinner over I was eventually persuaded to go see the pups. Three ******* and a cur. Cross breeds. Mother an Australian Cattle Dog. Father Border Collie. After some arm twisting by SWMBO, it looks like there'll be an addition to the household in five weeks or so.

3 pointsI'll bet some Brook Trout live in that stream Lane. Nice pictures Mate.

3 pointsIf you have already remove the engine, it's too late for this, but if you haven't. I would measure from the frame to center of pto shaft, and from center of trans drive pulley to center of pto shaft. Do whatever you have to, to get it back in THAT spot.

3 points@Bill D I installed 5' of copper from the compressor to 30' of galvanized pipe before going to the tank. ( 2 compressors feed my air lines ) Then from the tanks to a 1" pipe that goes straight up for 7' before it goes horizontal into a 3/4 pipe to 3 drops. I do not get any water at the drops in the shop. I get some from the pipe and very little from the tanks. Jay

2 points@ebinmaine Hiram runs and drives great. I'm rebuilding one brake band tomorrow. Then done. The wifes custom fired rite up and is ready to go as well.

2 pointsThis is similar to the one above and how I modeled the one in my garage. Picture stolen from a garage journal build thread.

2 pointsAnother point to mention: where I used to live my shop was on a bit of a hill, so naturally painting outside was sometimes a bit below the level of the compressor. Guess where the water goes when you use a 100ft hose downhill? Just a reminder that your work should always be above the level of the compressor, regardless of what device is used to seperate water vapor...
-
2 pointsSo he know know Squonk, Howard Dellepuca and Lane Ralph - so he is in like flynn in the Wheel Horse cabal and only has the early signs of the severe Wheel Horse disease!
-
2 pointsOh no, commence the PVC debate Of the ones pictured in the link I had this one. Piece of worthless trash. I have used these right before the paint gun with success, although I realize the initial question was about the coil method.

2 pointsWelcome to Red Square. This may be what you have. Click on the fuzzy picture in the link. The 5196 bearing is replaced by Toro 109842 Napa 7-04250, Rotary 484, Stens 230-033, Stens HD 230-037, Generic 9504AB Remove the handle and the snap ring on the small stub shaft. Remove the snap ring holding the bearing in the pto hub. Pull the hub off the crankshaft. Use a long drift punch to drive the bearing and stub shaft out. Work some new grease into the large needle bearing but don't leave any excess in there so that it runs out under use and spoils the friction disc. Notice this is for crankshafts with 1-1/8" diameter. Some early 10hp models used a 1" diameter crankshaft. Garry

2 pointsOne inch front spindles are a good idea with a loader.
-
2 pointsAlso you will want a dedicated tractor for a loader.....

2 pointsI'm totally happy with my Ark, I think 550, and the way the sub frame fastens. Can't think of any negative points. You'll wonder what you did without it.

2 pointsWarm air holds more moisture than cool air. You need to cool the air from the compressor to get the water out. Use metal lines. Mount the air drying unit, water separator and line drain AWAY from the compressor to give the air a chance to cool some and get the moisture condensing. Mounting a water separator right off the compressor outlet doesn't work a hill of beans and just overloads the filter. I worked in a hospital and had to deal with medical air. Multiple dryers, filters ect. We ran air supply dewpoints in the below 0 range on the muggiest days. Install an automatic drain on the compressor tank. Your compressor will thank you.

2 pointsThis one is probably 10yrs old now. Try a Google search, may get lucky and still find one out there.

2 pointsGot the new tires mounted and the rims painted for the 500 Special. Painted rims white to match the decals. Won't be long now until it's finished.
