11 pointsUPDATE ON HOWARD.... I received a message from Kevin, Howard's son early this morning. Howard's surgery was cancelled. The doctors ran more tests this morning and found out that Howard has a touch of bronchitis. Howard was given an antibiotic for his bronchitis. He is on an antibiotic and was sent home. The medical team has rescheduled his surgery for August 2, 2021. I called and spoke to Howard himself and he is in great spirits and informed me that he is glad that they are postphoning the surgery until his touch of bronchitis clears up. Howard has not started dialysis and will not start dialysis because of the wonderful individual that stepped forward to donate one of their kidneys, so Howard has a chance to continue living a normal life. Please continue to light up this forum for Howard, Howard's family, for the Donor, and the Donor's family. Howard's son will let the donor and their family know of the love and prayers that are being sent to them by all of us. God's love is unending and he is amazing.

10 pointsHoward has been dealing with some health issues the past few years and he has been going to see the doctors for those health issues. He informed me that he was put on a kidney transplant list and was waiting for a kidney. Well, earlier this evening I was informed that they found a kidney for Howard and that he will be going into surgery tomorrow morning. I am reaching out to all of my wheel horse family and I ask that you keep Howard in your thoughts and in your prayers for a while as he goes into surgery, for his family, for the donor and the donor's family. I am asking you guys to leave comments on this thread for Howard to read once he is able and help me show him our love for him. He is always at the Big Show helping out in any way he can. Now it is our turn to help him out with words of encouragement.

8 pointsDear Lord, Howard will be undergoing delicate kidney transplant surgery soon. The blessing of a new lease on life is the result of a loving selfless act of the organ donor. .Please guide the surgeon's hands to be steady and effective to do the task at hand, and not create any further damage We pray against any infection or complications. Calm the heart of both their families. Give Howard and the donor your peace so their bodies can heal under the best conditions. In the name of Jesus, bless them both to be healthier after this procedure than before. Lord allow this temporary trial to bring these families closer to you and each other. When they is coming out of surgery, let the side effects be minimal. Work a miracle in this whole situation and bless it from beginning to end. Thank you Lord for your blessing on these families. We praise you as we know we are in good hands- the very hands of God. In Jesus name, we thank you for each day. Amen.

7 pointsJust scooped up a new toy that I couldn't pass up on. Having it doesn't sway my loyalty to wheelhorses. It's a 64 and from my brief research on these 110 models it seems 99% there and original. Only flaws are a badly bulging rear tire that is otherwise in great shape, a small crack in the fiberglass hood that is easily fixed and the headlights may or may not be original and in the wrong location. It runs like a top, Kohler 8hp so that's not suprising and all the gears work as does the variable speed setup. At $450 I couldn't say no. Originally the guy wanted $650 in marketplace and kindly turned down my $400 offer but the next day said $450 would take it. Deal

7 pointsTrina's been cleaning up and repainting the engine today. Got it out of the stand that it was in. Scraped it down then wiped it with acetone. She put a couple coats of paint over most of the engine. Here's the side with the original military letters after BBT painted it. Obviously she had masked off that area. She wasn't satisfied with the way it looked so a little bit of controlled overspray later..... And here it is sitting in the tractor.

7 pointsOur prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery are with you Howard. Signs above the garage service door that adorned your mash pole are a reminder of some of the fun. Let's do it again next June.

7 pointsI kept yelling HHHOOOWWWAAARRRDDD!!! across the infield at the show to let my little buddy know I was thinking of him. Everytime I jump on my 857 I think of this picture. The short time we spent together at the Bus Stop was priceless. All the best Howard and see you next year!
-
7 pointsWork continued today with Trina swapping out the bearings in the front wheels for the new SEALED units I got in the mail today.... Then bolting the front wheels on. Also, she worked on getting the fuel tank off the carriage frame the engine sits in and lining it up to mount in the tractor. While she did that I modified my transmission mounting desk a bit, set the trans half in and put the gears in the case. I had to scavenge the 4 differential bolts from the parts pile. Ran out of time before I could get them cleaned up and installed. Perhaps finish up the transmission tomorrow.

6 pointsRealized I’m 12 pages behind in “what did you do today”... and had the girls help me free a stupid chicken from a trap I apparently set. Rylee swears this one is the dumbest chicken we have. Jada and I concur that every chicken we have is the dumbest chicken we have. This fencing is left overs from the gate job I did a while back. We carefully unwound the round in a vhs tape fashion and cut off usable pieces for safe (larger rolled) keeping until we got to the damaged inside part and cut her free. Another funny thing. vhs is flagged as not part of our vocabulary! For a younger guy, that really dates me!

6 pointsWas waiting for some other guys to chime in with some pics but looks like I am the only one. Some honorable mentions.... Lowell's new to him mini dozer.... He also picked up a McClean just before the big show so I guess Dan needs to change his badge to only other McClean club member!

6 pointsPrayers for healing and health for you and your gracious donor, Howard! I’m heading in today to toss a double red blood pint at the local blood bank, hoping it makes a difference with under the knife procedures like this. You’ll be in my thoughts all day Buddy!
-
6 pointsGet well soon Howard! I miss seeing you and all your show contributions!!
-
6 pointsNever having met you, Howard, but knowing the high regard those who have for you, I wish you all the best and speedy recovery.
-
5 pointsGettin' there Mike. This evening we got the transmission together. Trina will put one more coat of paint on later. Need to install the 4 seals and bolt it in place. Thought some of you would get a kick out of this old Toro label. The gasket is from the auction we went to almost 3 years ago now. 15 years old.

5 pointsGet well my friend. Our little tractor community needs a Howard in it. Looking forward to seeing you next year at the big show Howard!
-
5 pointsMedical procedures that were unheard of when I was younger are not uncommon these days. Howard told me that he was going on dialysis after the big show. Knowing what a hassle that is, he is lucky that the kidney has become available. Unlucky for the donor and their family though. Mrs. M and I are sending our best wishes to you Howard. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Condolences sent to the other family for their loss. Hopefully they can take solace in the fact the their loved one will live on in a very special man. I just learned that the donor is live. What a wonderful thing to do. Best wishes to both of you.

5 pointsWell since I have the flywheel off of the 500 Special to get new coil, points, and condenser. I thought I would do some more painting. The engine was not original and had nice paint on it but it was gray. Not anymore. I'm not going to paint the whole engine as the blower housing covers most of it. I will be painting the wheels when they come back from getting new tires mounted. I wanted to paint the wheels beforehand but didn't have time.
-
4 pointsVery nice score. FYI - Those rear fenders look even better when they are painted red and installed on a

4 pointsWell more progress on the 500 Special. New coil, points, and condenser installed. Pulled the head and going to clean it off and put in new head gasket. Going to run new fuel line and put in a shut off valve. Went and got a new drive belt from Tractor Supply. The tabs for the belt cover are all missing or busted. Going to have to jury rig something for that. Shouldn't be long now but tomorrow I go back to work again.
-
4 pointsShe also found some donor tie rods borrowed from the future '68 raider 10 repaint project tractor.

4 pointsStarting to think wheel horse and Harley Davidsons may have been build by the same people cuz all of my horses need a oil drip pan 🤔 at least I never forget where I put them in the shop.
-
4 pointsHoward...you are always in Chris's and my thought and prayers. Hang in there my friend.

4 pointsGood way not only to brake the tractor but yourself. Tractor came over backwards on me once and I broke my arm in 100 pieces. I wasn't even trying to pop wheelies. I would put an end to that real quick. Just my opinion. What's next.... chain saw juggling?
-
4 pointsDying to test that the tweak on the throttle cable on the 516 allows it to sit at 3600 instead of dropping over time. Fired it up and headed out to the tall grass - overdue since it's rained almost every day and I won't mow wet if I can help it. Hit the blades and all was well. Stopped after 50 feet and looked back. Scalping with the center and left??? Back to the garage to drop the deck and the left bracket bolt and spacer had decided to make a home somewhere in the lawn. This is how my machine tells me it needs maintenance. Found replacements from the parts of an old 36" stripped deck. Pulled the deck and, crap!, what a dirty clumped mess! So now it's to cleaning, pressure washing, lubing, blade sharpening and locktiting this 42 SD. The lawn can wait a few more days.

3 pointsYou must mean the Electric PTO removal... Your method is correct....remove the little bolt that holds it to the crankshaft. Look inside that hole...you'll see COARSE threads. This is where you thread in the 5" long bolt (not sure of bolt dia...probably 11/16 or 3/4). The end of that big bolt will press against the end of the crankshaft, slowly drawing the E-PTO off. As you apparently know, don't EVER use any kind of tool ...like a 3-jaw...to take the E-PTO off... Guaranteed FUBAR. There arre TWO styles of E-PTO, and the removal method is the same. The GT-14 would be the 1972 & prior style.

3 pointsAmazing how fast the toe nails turned black !!! Hope she feels better soon. Do they make steel toed flip flops?

3 pointsI was just talking to Howard's son, Kevin, who will be updating me on Howard's status. Here is what Howard's wife, Tammy put on Facebook today..."Tomorrow morning Howard will be receiving a second chance at life. A wonderful person has stepped forward to donate a kidney to Howard so he can continue to live a normal life. Please keep us in your prayers and hope for a successful transplant. This gift of life doesn't come around often so we are very thankful." Please know that Howard, his family, the donor, and their family appreciate all of our prayers and thoughts. I will keep you all update as I get updates from Kevin.

3 pointsHoward Dellapuca is a great Wheel Horse owner, collector and friend to all Wheel Horse owners! His contributions to the Big Show are many but most will recognize the mile post marker he stole from MASH! Howard has more enthusiasm than three or four Wheel Horse owners combined. I borrowed Howard’s trailer (pics below) and some gas ( he had three cans of gas) during the recent Big Show . I am pulling hard for Howard as I am very pleased he has secured a kidney ! My thoughts are with him and his family as he undertakes this surgery and recovery.

3 pointsYou made my day at the show this year Howard. We need you there next year. Love and prayers to all involved.
