Well I finally broke down and bought a new battery for my D-250 and like a kid on Christmas I couldn't wait to play with it....however my daughter beat me to it and went for her first ride on a Wheel horse today. Luckily it is stuck in low range and stays at idle lol. She was all smiles and grins and I couldn't have been happier myself seeing how excited she was. Little does she know the RJ I'm restoring is meant for her!

Thanks Karl and everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We got wonderful news just an hour ago. No heart damage. No blockage. Her BP was so high it caused similar symptoms as a cardiac event would. Got her BP under control now. She was more likely to have a stroke than a heart attack. I'll be back in the shop working on orders Monday. Obviously we are feeling very relieved. Thanks again Terry

My wife Lola is going through some tests today after a rather scary cardiac event Tuesday evening. Anyone who has an order in on my website or an order from the show, please be patient with us through this difficult time. I will get your decals to you as soon as I can. Thank you in advance for your understanding Sincerely Terry

I have a 1979 Wheel Horse C-161-8 that my grandpa and I picked up when I was just 8 years old. He got it at an auction for $170 for the tractor, a 42" blade, and a 42" RD deck. I helped him as much as I could to restore it and fix it to make it look nice. We also had the engine professionally overhauled. The cylinder wall was bored and sleeved along with a new piston, rings and a new rod. This tractor runs great now and I will probably keep it for awhile because I have many fond memories with it. It has been a great tractor and I wanna keep it running and going for as long as possible. I just recently repainted all of the sheet metal parts and wheels. They had some dings and scratches so I repainted them just before the show in PA. It has been almost 10 years since it was painted so it was nice to be able to paint it again and keep it looking good.

The ground has been a bit saturated this week. Finally hard enough to unload! I tagged the headache rack of the Farm a truck with a Pullstart Stables sticker too. Brand new shoes for the rear of Jackie are on the way!

Got the PTO clutch back together. Seems that the C clip has been out of its groove for a long time. When I went to reconnect the PTO rod to the clutch lever, I had to back the adjustment reunion off to the long side of midway in the adjustment threads. @ebinmaine turns out that I will be able to use up more of the clutch lining. Got the input pulley properly attached to the input shaft. Seems that took care of the rattle n the drive belt area. Got it all back together and looked around for some grass to test it on. The neighbor's empty lot next door was a little past needing mowing, so I reved the Horse up and tore into it. The clutch was still slipping on the first past, but two turns tighter on the trunion fixed that. 2nd gear, full throttle, lopping 3" off of the grass, full width cuts - no problem. The neighbor came over and thanked me for mowing her lawn. I thanked her back for letting me use her lawn as a test plot. I also offered to mow that part of her lawn if it needs mowing when I have the Horse out and running. She liked that idea.

Only problem I have with being of a mature age, is my brain thinks I'm still in my twenties. My body is constantly reminding it I'm not. Last year eldest grandson said I was pretty fit for my age. When I said I can't run anymore, he replied, "Why do you want to run?" I answered, "I don't, but I'd like to be able too."

So I saw an ad for Wheel Horse tractors and implements. Well I had to go look. The gentleman thought he was setting on a goldmine. He took me to two different properties to show me all he had. It all had been sitting in weeds and brush for some time. The one tractor had trees growing through it. We were so far apart on what he was thinking it is worth and what I would pay for it. Later that night he called and asked what if any I wanted. I explained that they would be hard to move as all tires are flat and the plows are on them and they are buried in weeds. I said I would ask to see if I could borrow a trailer. Well then he said he had one and deliver it all. How could I say no ? So here it is. I had it only for a few hours and already sold the cultivator. I cleaned the huge nest out of the blower housing on the 500 Special. Sprayed some starting fluid in the carb gave it a few pulls and it was running. I did not try to shift it in and out of gear. Waiting on that. The other tractor I am not sure what it is. I thought it was an 857 but the side cover says something else. Looks like 855 ? Not sure. Anyways I'm tired. More to come.

Well I found my way back to the herd. I have had a bit of tech issues lately. I really wanted to get my new flag up for the 4th, along with my new to me flag pole. So the ole GT is giving me a hand.

I've had this old white truck hood ornament for a number of years. I don't even remember where I got it. But I'm cleaning my garage and I see its badly tarnished so I decided to clean it up with polishing past but its pitted bad. I could sand it smoth and paint it red or silver but it will lose it's shine. I'm guessing its quite old but it really looks good on my horse. A horse on a horse of course. I'll make a plate and use the holes that already holds the original ornament on the hood. I don't like to make new holes in my wheelhorse's .any ideas on how to clean up the pits or paint ????

Ran across a fantastic video today on some of the science behind how a carburetor does it's job. They make a see through carburetor and use a slow motion camera to really catch all the details. It's a longer video at 24 minutes but I found myself smiling and enjoying every last second and thought there might be some of you out there who would appreciate this as well!

I know they have really good airflow. I used one 20 years ago when i was working for a mobile painting company. We set it up in the back lot of the car dealerships and sprayed small jobs. We used a generator to power it. They sell indoor and outdoor models. Make sure you get the right one for what you are doing. Id like to see how these new booths compare to the old one I used.

Yes that Eddie Murphy........He does not mow, Ron the Caretaker does the 40 acres...Eddie just wanted it to drive up and down the Driveway to the other buildings on his property. He liked it because he was a fan in his younger days, and he was drawn to all of the chrome goodies on the 418-A. Eddie is the same in real life as you see him in the movies !!!

One last tidbit: I finally got around to re-tapping the screw hole for the washer in the Treasurer's 'Brass Ducky' and decided to build a 2 outlet manifold so that she could use it to fill her watering can and the duckys little head wouldn't hit the window sill and not allow fully turning on the faucet. She doesn't like dragging that big old hose around to water her flowers, she would rather carry around a gallon watering can and make numerous trips back and forth to the faucet to refill it... she says that's easier... OK, to each their own I guess. [edit:] Guess what? Now she wants a bench under the faucet so she can set the watering can down when she's filling it! One thing always leads to another, doesn't it? I didn't tell her that I already had that idea anyway. Also going to get an adapter so I can install a sink aerator on her ducky's 'outlet'. Too bad I can't figure out how to get it to lay Golden Eggs!

Nice idea, but you don’t want to have a power cut/outage just after applying the final coat of black on the roof of your Show Car! 😢 It would be bad enough having the compressor stop, the lights go out, but to have the building collapse onto your fresh paint***********

That's a soft-touch wheel. The plastic is more like a very high density foam. It normally won't crack. The wheels made with hard plastic do crack fairly easily. I have found that leaving the steering wheel mounted is the easiest way to reshape them. That wheel was probably bent by the operator constantly pulling on it to get off and on the tractor. Steady pressure in the opposite direction and the bend should return it to a reasonably straight condition. Hold the other side of the wheel down with a ratchet strap looped behind the dash tower or completely under the frame.

Rims are toast. Big chucks coming off on back side. I happen to have an extra set for the back, no extra set for the fronts. Going to work on the 500 first. I got it to pop. Need to soak the throttle cable. Clean the carb. Have not tried to put in in gear yet. Needs front tires.

Not a 701 or 702. The front axle and steering wheel says a 1963 model. With the Kohler most likely a 753. But............the double starter and engine pullies indicate it's from a 701. Not the engine that came on a 1963 model. I'd say the tractor is definitely a 1963 but the engine is a 1961.

I'm running 1.5 inch spacers and 520-H rear wheels and the overall width is still only 44 inches. My 48SD deck still has room for the guage wheels. I know the 522xi decks are different, but I wouldn't think slightly longer axles would be an issue. Certainly not 1.5 on each side.

It looks like You could have the answer to the drought/wet weather conditions we are suffering from on both sides of the pond! If the folks in the States that are affected by extremely high temperatures etc, send us, over here, all of their ponchos and wet weather gear, and in return, we will send Sun cream and sun shades. This is guaranteed to bring you cooler weather and rain, and I’ll be able to cut my hay and dry it before Christmas!

I agree with ElCamino - you are not old yet. However, you are at the age where your mind is writing checks that your body is refusing to cash. Sooner or later your mind will get tired of the stiff/sore feedback your body is giving.
