8 pointsI ordered last Week a Toy especially and primary for my beloved Wheelhorse. Because we had few sunny hours i mow the Area. To check if the new High load belt works better, i decided to mow in highes Gear with 2/3 throttle and leave a few small islands for the Bee’s al mostly. after the Mowing Session, the Horse looks like this. but with it‘s new Toy it looks like that a great Tool. What the Tool was? I have no Water on the Shed, so i look for something to cleanup the Horse after Mowing with less than 20 Litres of Water. Ok, 10 Litres in a Bucket and scrub it off can also do the Trick, but you get Wet after that and it takes lot of Time. So i ordered for a Makita Accu a wearable pressure washer. Boy, that thing is that Cool. with only 7 Litres of clean Water out of 2 canisters, the horse appears to be like new painted. 60$ is a real fair Price for that Tool. My horse and i love it.👍❤️

8 pointsPicked up a couple shelters from Tractor Supply today. Got one of them put up and was able to get my service truck and the 1949 8N under cover. Other one is a 10x10x8 with a zip up door we are gonna use for lawn equipment storage

8 points@WHX24 The PC-7 worked well for me on the steering wheel repair. I tried using a wetted finger to smooth it like someone suggested, but that didn't help me much. So I worked it down with a hand file and that worked really good. Then some final sanding and I have it partially polished using my rouge wheel. The file was the thing to use, as it does sand hard. So I've been gradually getting some bodywork done, mainly filling rust pits with bondo. I would say everything is done except the hoods...... But then I realized my fenders had these extra upper set of holes in them. Does anyone know if these holes are there for a reason, or just something some PO did in the past? Made up some new rods for the lift arm. Gathered up all my parts and did a trial assembly on the 400. I'm glad I did. You can't see it in these photos, but the steering is very tight with the hood stand bolted down. With the bolts loose, the steering shaft holds the hood stand about an 1/8" off the frame. When I disassembled this frame the steering gear was rust bound in the lower hole and I had to use some heat and twisting to get it out. I suspect I tweaked/bent that lower piece a tiny bit, just enough to change the angle on the steering shaft a degree or two. So a little heating adjustment is needed to get a nice smooth steering shaft movement. I've also laid out all my miscellaneous parts to see what I'm missing so i could make a list. At this point, the engine, hood body work, exhaust and a few hardware store items are it. O, and to solder that new filler neck into the gas tank. My hood has a few little dents in it, but the big thing I need to work out is about a 1/4" sway in the top length of it like an old sway back horse. It will oil can straight, but pop right back down. Any suggestions how to work that oil can out and keep it straight would be appreciated. After I finish the tractor, if things work out, it's going to get a custom front attachment using this hitch.

6 pointsHey guys! Just wanted to update anyone interested on the 40 HP Duromax build. I just bought a belt for the engine. Installing is going to be fun, as you guys can imagine... and I have quite a bit of work ahead of me to even get this thing close to running on the tractor... BUT I think I have all the parts I need now! I have a long road ahead of me with this 40 hp engine. I have to completely tear it down, and rebuild. So... here is the game plan. Stainless steel push-rods, but keep the stock cam followers Grinding down exhaust lobe on cam (per ARC Racing's suggestion) [I also did this on my Tillotson stage 4 and it made a mighty difference in performance, but don't ask me the science behind it}. Custom fabricate an air filter adapter using 2-3 inch section of 2.5 inch exhaust pipe welded to the stock air filter metal flange (which I am going to cut and make round so it will look nice). Install a billet rod, hopefully without having to hone the wrist pin section of the rod with my dremel. (The fitment of the wristpin is up for debate whether it needs to be honed, most people saying that it fits just fine without honing). I bought a +.40 rod for this engine because my engine is +.70 in the hole. I haven't decided if I am going to grind down the piston yet... I am going to put a custom header on this engine. I am going to fabricate a top-plate for this engine so that it looks nice (no other purpose for the top plate than to be pretty for my application). I am going to be removing the balance shaft from this engine... as I don't need an extra piece of metal flying around in this engine. (ARC recommends this be done...). Don

6 pointsAnybody who can work their way through school and not have any debt in this society is at an incredibly huge advantage. I'm sure between the three of you you'll figure out the best compromise. The health is the part that counts the most I think. Life, living it, and it's decisions aren't necessarily always easy but there's also NO reason to get stressed out about them. Unfortunately I know that from personal experience. I'm a heck of a lot better off now than I was just a few years ago but occasionally I still digress a little. There are those who would say that your mental health is far more important than most aspects of your physical health. The former can certainly affect the latter in lots of different ways. Be strong. Keep at it. Enjoy what you have whether it lasts for one day or decades.

5 pointsHi all, I just bought a wheel horse 310-8 that runs like it was brand new with 1099 hours on it and everything works, and was wondering if I got a good deal on it or if I over paid($360)
-
5 pointsYou see these landscapers with their $10,000+++ mowers going flat out. bouncing all over the place. "Hey I got me a suspension!" Big Whoop! My boss at Napa mowed lawns as a sideline. I don't really know why because he would just buy a new Grasshopper every year so he wasn't pocketing anything. He would complain to the dealer about his deck bouncing. SLOW THE FRICK DOWN!

4 pointsI have been looking for a wheel horse for a while to build a stock puller .I found one at a good price this weekend and bought it a 414 -8, the price was right ,it has a safety switch problem but does start with the solenoid jumped ,then won't turn off with key .now that I got it home and played with it I think it may be to nice to strip I am having a hard time trying to decide if I should keep it as a work tractor or make my puller out of it ,it has nice seat nice paint new front tires ,a mower deck, should I strip this nice tractor and beat it or fix wiring failure and cut grass on Sunday mornings .I have spent a few hours tracing wires looking for bad ground or bad switch can't find it .I got a feeling it may be they key switch but wiring is not my cup of tea,

4 pointsRear brake pads are done, calipers anti-siezed well enough @Achto and @WHX24 should be able to slide halfway to the Big Show! Fronts are getting new rotors and I’ll pack the bearings while I’m in there. The store will have me some wheel seals in the morning.
-
4 pointsLet me think about this one, you paid about 1/3 the price of the junk mowers at a big box store and got twice the machine I think you did just fine!

4 pointsWe have a 200 thousand plus mileage Pontiac Bonneville that mignew carht be going to that school up North for a higher degree. i am not really happy about this, because we use the beater car to keep our retirement car (our first new car} as perfect as possible. Daughter's car became pretty much toast with all kinds of issues like rotten fuel lines, brake lines, and rotten engine mounts exceeding the worth of the car. So now comes a 1994 dodge sport pickup that was given to me but has a cranks but does not start. It did run, but started to shut down after it warmed up , so its off to the repair guy who can diagnose such things. Buying a wheel horse a couple of years ago was a big help, because the seller gave me a great deal and threw in a professional tow bar , so now that truck is being towed tomorrow morning to the repair shop. Really tough to find a used car or truck at her budget, so maybe this truck or the car will get her through. The good news is that she worked her way through school with no debt, so the Mrs. is lobbying hard to help our daughter finish. I might give a little, but want the kid to hang tough as she has in the past. I went scouting for used tires for the Pontiac and found some decent ones. At the same time, I spied some extra rear tires 4 ply rated ATV for two tractors for $7.50 each. You can't buy tubes for that. Retirement was supposed to be easier than this, but at least we are in reasonable health.

4 pointsHad a big weekend celebrating our churches 60th Anniversary...winding down tonight with a little relaxation out in the backlot... Decided to bring out @Coulter Caleb‘s Comanche. Got me to thinking about @Sparky and @Achto and @WHX24 that helped make this little birthday tractor happen for Caleb. Hard to believe that was three years ago already! it is a beautiful night out here tonight. Mosquitos haven’t set in yet and the temperature is settling down from the heat of the day. I can hear the birds singing all around me and I’m enjoying the great view. Thankful for God’s creation and good friends!

4 pointsStarted with going down to see @ebinmaine Eric, to fix some leaking rear seals and finished off with re painting the B-80s muffler since VHT yellow 1200° header paint don't like doing its job went with the old faithful rustoleum high temp grill paint. See how this holds up!

3 pointsA few weeks ago I had a tryout session with a portable bandsaw. @OldWorkHorse had brought his around to help when we were beginning the build on my trailer hitch mounted mini crane. I loved it so much I went out and bought my very own bandsaw. A similar thing happened with the table for it. I was delivering to a customer who has his own workshop in which there's a portable bandsaw mounted to a SWAG table. Well. I loved it so much I went and bought me one. They arrive plain steel if you like so I had my local paint department throw some paint on it. Nice bright lime green. I'll get it all bolted together and post more pics later.
-
3 pointsToo late now but in my opinion the slotted mounting holes were a major contributor to the failure. You'll notice that there is no elongation of the holes in the frame but the slots are worn. Regardless of how tight the bolts were they would allow some movement and flexing. The thicker metal should be helpful but if it were mine I think I would buy four grade 8 (thick) washers and weld them to the new angle iron once it is all bolted up.

3 pointsWhat did you use to get Eric moving? Cattle Prod, food hanging of a stick just out of reach. Not being there nothing we have tried can get the old boy moving.

3 pointsYou burn forty gallons Green yer tractor better run non stop! Might be possible with an Onan tho! The fairgrounds is pretty small,. and there's no riding outside the grounds. Actually most of the horsing around is done on foot and sitting and yaking with the occasional flinging of horse apples at Squonk with a slingshot... Just a reminder that if it rains and things get muddy no tearing up the grounds as the club has to fix any grounds damage. No tractor running after 10. Not to say there is no seat time as There is a ride Friday nite where there be some laps to be had. You won't be able to enter the grounds till after 9 on Thursday. Make sure you pay for camping as you pull in so the camp nazi has time to enjoy the show too.
-
3 pointsi don't like to speak ill of any brands that i don't have direct experience with, but, i've heard a lot of bellyaching on tractor forums and facebook groups about new holland parts delays and prices - just second hand information mind you. Kubota and Deere have been around forever and likely will be around forever, i'd expect the parts availability to be broader (though not necessarily cheaper)

3 pointsI got my new front weight bracket on the B-80 yesterday and did some discing in the garden. Big thanks to Squonk, aka Mike in Waterloo , for the bracket. Here are the pics. The B-80 is a bad a## little tractor!

3 pointsLooks like a good deal to me! I have a nice 310 that I really like and you will like it to! Randy
-
3 pointsThanks for all the extra effort! So looking forward to it! And i guess @roadapples and @ebinmaine get a little credit for talkin me into it!
-
3 pointsI laid out my cuts, tacked the two pieces together and set it up in the mill vice. Now I’ll clean the pieces up and they’ll be ready to burn back together. My plan is to leave the meat of the angle ON TOP so it won’t stretch the webbing and break again.

3 pointsI chopped up a generator frame from my “spares” pile for some strong 2”x1/4” angle iron. I flattened the old bent piece for measurements and got to work.
-
3 points@Wheel Horse 3D and I have been talking for quite a while about making a deal at the Big Show on this FEL. I knew something was loose and I planned to rectify it before handing it over. Tonight, I see it has been repaired before. I don’t like how the angle iron was upside down. I hacked off the broken pieces and began building new.

3 pointsHad our friend @OldWorkHorse Steve around today so I could give him a hand changing the rear wheel seals on his Ariel's Flowah Powah tractor. He'd been pouring the Liquid Wrench spray to it for a couple weeks or more and the seals were pretty much not there so plenty of lube was getting in the hub. I was pleasantly surprised to have both hubs fly right off using my "spare hub as a puller" method I picked up from around here somewhere. Even better... He also gave me a hand pulling both hubs from a spare 8 speed that may end up in the C-160 Tecumseh engine tractor or as needed for whatever horse. Also from the 3 speed that I'll be rebuilding for Trina's Military Tribute Tractor. I'd been soaking the 8 speed for at least a year. Trina started spraying the 3 speed hubs a few weeks ago. All four came off!! Certainly took more effort than the ones on Steve's but it was great to see them slide out without serious issue. Here is the 8 speed on the bench, 3 speed on the floor, with the puller next to it.

2 pointsthe guy did change the engine oil and the trans oil and he sharpened the blades as well and it has all of the original wiring and all of the safeties. Also it even has the original paint on the underside of the mower deck
