“Made lemonade” out of a blown engine… Kohler time…

Cart JAG at Cabelas S.T.B... had to push carts for last 3 days in rain across parking lot... I said to Manager I'm not pushing today... he took my pic running my GT 1642 and sent it off to the big boss. Now all the "kids" wanna do carts... Tony

Having fun with my 73 8hp. I found a guy this past winter that restored this with a snow plow in Pittsburgh PA and I bought it. I pushed snow all winter and then on Red Squared found a 36" deck a few hours away in NY. My neighbors love it because I mow their grass all the time when mine is cut and I'm just having too much fun to stop. It's a tank. Starts and runs like a clock and could climb a tree if it would go up. Just put on new tires too. Couldn't be happier!

This week-end we went to the cemetery of Margraten in the Netherlands for the fallen American soldiers during WO II. For a couple of years now, we adopted a American soldier that is missing. His name is Duffield Stanley D from Minnesota. They had the mission of bombing Berlin, But died on May 19 1944 in a airplane crash after they went of course and their colleges bombed them from above. So we went by and insured his grave was like it should and put down some flowers. It is the least we can do, after what they did for us.

Godspeed to all who died in service to our Country… and a thank you to all veterans and active military for their service.

So I took Jeffrey for a ride in his " camper " this morning. Turned a lot of heads. He loved it. Every time I turned around he was in it. Added the Wheel Horse decal to the newly painted trailer.

Charity is another good life lesson for students. It was taught to me by a very influential teacher when I was young. ( Although it's doubtful he ever knew how influential he actually was ) RIP Vince Silenzio ! If you're interested in doing a round hood 654, Inspired by this thread, I'd like to donate the tractor to your program and I'll bring it to the big show. These tractors are not as mechanically involved and engineered as a more modern machine like the one you just completed but they do have the cool nostalgia feature. It's my favorite tractor which is why it deserves a restore and some love. Something I just don't have the time to do. It's currently running and driving but really needs all the mechanical maintenance your students can provide. Just seeing it get done and given to someone that can use it would be worth it. Or, it can be auctioned off and the money given to charity. The charity of my choice would be your program to pay for the next project or to pay for someone else's tractor expenses that can't afford it or whatever you guys decide. We can shop for some new parts at the show like bearings, throttle /choke cables, decals, maybe a mower deck etc etc and I'll pay for those too and also cover all of the expenses like the shop fee, paint, consumables etc etc. Just like the normal gig you guys do. Let me know and I'll get some pics

That’s how I ended up with this absolutely beautiful 418-C It was posted here in the classified section. I saw the price and thought it was ridiculously low and wondered why nobody had jumped on it. Then I noticed that it was posted one minute ago! I then broke my promise to my wife about not buying anymore Wheel Horses! Next thing you know, ROAD TRIP!! An hour to the ferry, hour and a half across the Long Island Sound on the ferry and two hours to Massachusetts to bring this beauty to its new home.

May 31st, 9:35am...I went out to the garage and loved on my tractor...don’t you judge me 😂

My dogwood this year is weighed down with blooms, creating a shady grotto for my van. Each one of those blooms will turn into an edible cherry like fruit. (It’s going to be messy)

Spent the afternoon on my favorite trout stream. All these small native brown trout get released. The stocked trout go in the skillet.

Miss getting out on the trails (ya know...wasting fuel and destroying the environment ) So after this current 3 day rain event here in Connecticut subsided I crept out onto the woods. Everything is so very green now that we are at the end of spring and rolling into summer.

Russ’s daughter reached out to let me know he is back in the hospital.....had a pacemaker installed this time. That should clear up any of Russ’s irregular heartbeats and get him back on a tractor . Get well Russ (probably our oldest member)!

@BHunter Perfect!!! I'm glad you want it and now I'm excited to have it get the love it deserves. Here's your new project. I'll need to keep the wheel weights and possibly the snow plow. Maybe the tires too if the plan is to put new skins on it anyway. It's powered by a Kohler 8hp now but the original engine would have been an H60 Tecumseh. We can probably find a correct engine at the show or the Kohler can stay. Or find a starter generator K181 which would be a better fit. The gear drive starter blocks the battery tray so the battery is now located under the seat. Maybe customs should be for the advanced class! LoL. Looking forward to discussing the possibilities of this project with you at the show. Just look for the idiot driving this and you'll find me there. I promised you guys pics when I was done so here they are. Still need to hook up fuel line, and put on hitch. Still want to find a set of fenders, but I think it came out pretty good! And Thanks for all the help, this site is great!!

Also got some wheel painting done. Used the old card trick, and they turned out great. The front tires are really dirty, but they will clean up after the paint cures.

Today I raked as much of the front yard as I could...had to do a detailed clean up of the debri left from the tree job. The tree man did a great job cleaning up, but he was not about to rake the whole yard. Probably wont even try to sow grass going into June. Also repaired a clean out on a storm drain pipe from my driveway that must have got bumped by the skid steer.

Well it's 11pm EST, and rainin wicked haad bubs, but the cook must go on! 12hrs from now I should be pulling a lovely brisket from this beast! Oh and so much other stuff I can't even remember!

Howard had a 2 1/2 hp on one. I remember when we met. I ask if it was enough. His reply was it hauls my fat a$$ around.

Trina and her Mom spent some time over the last couple days installing a screen door on the kitchen side door. Of course when you dig in to something like this there's always 38 other things that need attention. Part of the lower section of the doorway is quite soft. She replaced a bit to get it usable for fastening. We'll get after that in a bigger scale later. The side deck will need to come off and a fair amount of wood siding as well. New door would be installed at that point too. Here's a few pics of progress and where it's at now... Note the small piece of new clapboard. You can see where she cut back too. The door we got is a HD box store pet resistant one. Has a piece of metal covering the bottom portion of the screen. Trina added vinyl boards to help reinforce the door.

The deck on the 141 will take much more HP than what it takes to tow the two self powered pull behinds. My little 6.5 HP pulls the 500 lb lawn roller like it’s not even there so if the 141 can handle it’s own deck, towing the other mowers should tax it very little.

Well the 12hr brisket came out amazing and the birthday party / feast was a hit! There is no brisket left to speak of! And even tho it's not sunny and hot the rain held off and the afternoon was nice enough to hang out with every1 out doors! So definitely a nice birthday! Now been up for almost 30hrs gonna hit the hay!

I love that bike. I check it out every year we go to the show. you helped me with tuning my Suburban at the 2019 show. I’d like to build something custom. I can turn the older students loose on this build.

Took SWMBO to a local garden centre this morning. While Carol was perusing the plants for sale, I had a wander about. Spotted a garden feature/planter made of three tyres and a length of plastic drain pipe. I showed it to Carol. That was the first mistake. The second was when I said "I've got some old wheels and tyres and pipe. So this afternoon you can guess what I've been doing? Just needs filling with a soil and compost mix and then it's up to her. I did see some other ideas, but kept them to myself.

I’m thinking that we could raffle it or auction it off at the 2022 Big show. we can discuss the details. That's about what I was thinking too. When I was a kid back in the 70s my father made a gang mower from an 8 HP ariens towing (I think) 5 20" wide push mowers all bolted together with angle iron. You should be fine.

Couple things: (1) when you patched holes, did you clear the debris from the spring-loaded TENSION pulley? It MUST be able to float free to keep tension on all three pulleys. (2) Mule drive belt tension correct?..it should deflect 1/2-3/4" midway of the engine & front mule drive (3) PTO clutch at engine slipping? There is a tension adjustment on the threaded end of the PTO engagement lever/rod.

Brought the GT14 home this afternoon. Here are a few pics. I’m pretty sure it’s a 1969. The tag has 1-7441 for model #. I’m pretty impressed with how smooth it sounds and how easy it starts. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but the lights even work.
