13 pointsSo the wife took the shed over and commanded some of the RJ s for decoration. Now she started digging through all the corners in the property and as you would know it she finds more tractors. She approaches me today and asks “what’s with that tractor buried under all kinds of stuff in the other shed ?”. I think great now she’s finding them all and she’s going to give me the I am out of control speech. Surprisingly she did not. Instead directed me to clean it out and put it right in the front of house as an ornament. She is now going to also decorate around it. I can’t believe what is going on.

12 pointsThought you all might like to see a very old Gibson I found on the side of the road yesterday. No idea if it’s for sale or if it’s a lawn ornament. No one was home.

12 pointsMy brother brought his family over last weekend. My nephews have never been here and they have driven a pontoon before, but never anything with wheels. We had a blast indeed.. I’m glad Putt Putt’s steering roll pin fiasco happened to me this weekend!

10 pointsStarted making the rear bumper / hitch for the 1257Heavy. Shouldn't have to many more things to make or fix b4 final paint. ALOT OF LITTLE THINGS.

10 pointsHad a fun time doing a little wrenching with my kiddos. Claudia likes mechanical things and Judge was handy so I asked them if they would be willing to help me change the alternator on the old Goat. this one is about 20 years old and has been making a lot of noise lately...before it left me stranded somewhere, I decided to be proactive and exchange it for a new 100amp PowerMaster. Claudia took turns with Judge doing the wrenching and we changed it out in about an hour. Momma had gotten up early on call to help fix a broken hip of someone at the hospital and had laid down to take a nap when she returned home. So, we took that time to get this project done. I’m so thankful that my kids were willing to do this project with me!

10 pointsOr building one of these...saw this at the show and thought it was cool. Little old lady was putting around on it all day yesterday with her granddaughter behind her

9 pointsNot sure why, but I’ve always wanted one of these little Maytag engines, but never could find one close by that wasn’t a total basket case, and way overpriced too. Walking around the swap meet at the show this weekend and had close to 100 of them to choose from. Ended up picking this one up.

9 pointsDidn't take long for this to go sideways @Achto I contemplated on starting this under Non-Tractor related so this wouldn't happen because having been here for quite some time I know you guys by now. We shall see what the Mods think ? . Yes it was intended for WH related stupid questions, and now I am no longer afraid to ask them.

7 pointsMy wife wanted out of the house so I took her for a long ride into the white mountains of N.H. and into Vermont. Told her I had to make a quick stop for a tractor part. She said I’m sure you do. Anyway cast iron weights are really cool and I’m becoming a bit infatuated with them. Got these today. And not to worry my wife got a great meal and a rum punch for desert! 50 lbs. Bolens weights and what he called slim weights that can be stacked on the Bolens weights. I believe he said they we’re sears?

7 pointsWorked on one of my RJs today trying to set the shifter in a more centered position. Might be bent but I put a new longer dogpoint set screw on it. I usually put longer ones on my tractors so you can access them easier. Plus many 60 years and older are well worn!

7 pointsNice addition to the collection! Glad an collector got them! I do own that sign and I was looking at those apparel items on Lincoln Radiator was my hometown dealer in Lincoln, IL. He did have some great stories about being on the Dealer Council, and he participated in the Indy Speedway events. He opened his dealership in 1959, and sold out 50 years later in 2008. I bought the sign on the auction. I have no doubt that's where the apparel came from as well. Being a 50 year dealer who also collected many things, the auction was a figurative goldmine of vintage stuff and the auction drew a lot of collectors from the east. That sign hung in the barn the last 12 years and has actually only in the last month come out of the barn to be worked on to hang in my shop. Unfortunately the other side has better color but took more damage. I have the pieces for the large hole, just working on gently cleaning and repairing. replacing the old fluorescents with LED strips I also made a mini replica on my 3d printer.

7 pointsHad some friends over Saturday night. Adam and I took a trail ride around the field since they just planted. We were about 1/2 mile away and I lost the roll pin from the fan gear to the steering shaft on Putt Putt. I ended up sticking it in reverse and riding home on the front hanging weight kicking the tires to steer it. Adam cruised ahead to look for a bolt for temporary steering. He found what I needed, about 60 yards from the barn! I stuck a couple bolts on top of the gas cap to remind myself Putt Putt needs fixin’ before work again. I believe I’ll weld the fan gear to the shaft, or replace it with an already welded one. Sorry y’all, I have no proof of pictures... but we did scout a couple good deer runs and a nice tree to set up a stand!

6 pointsGoing over and reorganizing parts and invoices from 3 WH refurbs in 2020 # 1 - 310-8 #2 - 418-A and # 3 - 420 LSE and in regards to replacing the fuel shutoff and bushing. The Toro # 104048 for $ 28.42 shutoff and # 46-6560 bushing for $ 5.06 vs the Tecumseh # TEC 33351 shutoff with bushing included for $ 16.72. Not sure of the MFG but appears to be an exact match. The parts dept mentioned to me the Tecumseh was the same part for a lot less. Wish I would have known that little bit of info years ago. Thought I would pass that along to the Great people on RedSquare.

6 pointsIn an attempt to pull this train back on the tracks I've been researching your first question @JCM. I have found the definition of a mule drive. Belt drive systems commonly known as mule drives are used to transmit power from a horizontally oriented drive shaft or PTO to vertically oriented spindles. Mule drives for mower decks include one or more guide sheaves that twist the belt to change its orientation from vertical to horizontal. Just can't find an origin for the name.

6 pointsDoes this have to be related?? I wanna know - Why do we drive on a Parkway and park in a driveway???
-
6 pointsOkay this will get me some hits.."If you didn't like solving electrical problems why did you buy a 520???"

5 pointsI ran across another tractor this afternoon. It's on an abandoned property. According to the neighbor he is still around and gave me the owners phone number. Cant tell from the road if its hydro or standard. Its mid 80s ish. While typing this the guy called me. Apparently there are 3 WHs 2 standards ,1 Hydro. Fingers crossed we can make a deal.
-
5 pointsWow! Sounds like you got a keeper there! You need a 'hitchin post' to tie the tractor to. Preferably a big chain with a bullet proof lock because if I happen to be ridin' by, I might have to offer that some carrots to get into my van! By the way, that's a nice lookin' Ponderosa! I like the 'weathered wood' picket fence. Was that space an overflow parking area?

5 points@pullstart that looks like you guys had a great time. Memories abound. It's always great when family can get together like that. Seeing your tow behind makes me want something like that.
-
5 pointsPretty proud of my sleuthing skills. I searched Craigslist for the town I found this in. Found an add for something in that town and asked the seller if he had a Gibson tractor that I had seen. He didn’t but I got the name of the individual who has it. More to come.

5 pointsThink I'll just stay out of this one Plunge... well maybe not worked on a new to me C-121 yesterday so just to keep this in the tractor section... Why did they HAVE TO rivet the throttle & choke on the dash !?!?!?

5 pointsI can just barely remember my grandma using her gas powered Maytag. Grandpa had a plug that she could remove from the window on the back entry way to get the exhaust out. She could open the window, remove the plug, run the flex pipe with the muffler on it out side, then close the window. The entry way stayed warm enough during the winter to allow her to wash cloths at home year around. I can also remember her showing off her new electric washer when she got it.

4 pointsHe wants to trade them for a Craftsman 🤪🤪 and he said he may have a tiller attachment.
-
4 pointsCan imagine the meeting where they named the parts..."You know like one of those old thingies where they used a belt and mules!"... "Mule???... drive????".... "Yeah that'll work!"
-
4 pointsMaybe the term mule drive originated during the 18 and early 1900's and just kinda stuck for the portion that transfers the belt power from horizontal to vertical and vise versa
-
4 pointsOK, so today was door day, I had cut the bricks yesterday but finally knocked the hole out this morning. The door arrived and with a bit of jiggery pokery I managed to get the thing in. That was between a couple of thunderstorms. Just got to seal around the frame when the expanding foam has cured and we are done. Oh, apart from the step obviously. Mick

4 pointsPicked this up last Summer because it ran so good, but very ugly. I could see it had a future and so far it has been a fun tractor that doesn't smoke or burn oil and the Eaton 1100 seams strong. I guess sometimes you can't judge a book by it's cover. Still not done playing around and improving things but as I age I just don't seam to be in such a hurry as I used to be. Anyhow some before and after pictures one year later.
-
4 pointsGo to Ebay type in mule drive and find the answer. All mule drives were a pain to install and remove until Wheel Horse jumped light years ahead of the rest with the Attach-A- Matic System.
-
4 pointsGot real bad news Plunge ...knowing Dan he's most likely gonna fill it with Captain's and use it as a challis!
-
4 pointsJim, the plunger will be in the truck at the Show, just in case we need it to hit Dan over the head with it.
-
4 pointsWell we were doing good until page 6 from @ebinmaine , as I started to scroll down I started to see @Achto 's name and said to myself I can only imagine what i would read. And to think we have not even heard from @pullstart and @WHX24 yet, Oh boy.

4 pointsFriend of mine had a big collection of Ransomes crawlers until last year. Sadly due to ill health he's sold most of them, except for a couple. If I'd had somewhere to keep one I'd would have. https://myoldmachine.com/topic/6421-start-of-a-new-era-for-ransomes/ This is a rare Ransomes sand skimmer. Used in sewage treatment plants. Had an auger on the front that scooped sand onto a conveyor that ran under the seat. It then dropped into a following Ransomes dumper. Weird thing to drive. You steered with your feet. Nearly demolished my friends garage wall when driving it inside.

4 pointsTrina and her mom spent some time splittin' firewood. 🔥 We've got a decent jump on next winter but still a ways to go. That's the Charger hydro pictured. I pulled a couple 2/3 loads (trailer back empty) from the forest. A little more experimenting with welding. Trina's 867 seat pan brace has been broken for many many moons. A week or two ago it bent so she decided it should get welded up. Pretty thin metal so I decided to go with 1/16" 6013 rod. I'm sure I didn't need to use a piece quite so wide but that's what I had handy so that's what went on. I did burn through in one place when I forgot to check the amperage and had it too high. Fixed that. Ground out some other places I wasn't fond of and filled them in. Leveled off the top and here it sits. To install the seat latch I put a notch in the added metal with a cutoff wheel. Then finished grinding with the Dremel. I've ordered some rubber baby buggy bumpers. Those will be popped in later.
