    I hate reintroducing myself, but I've been missing y'all! After a divorce and stuff, I have been putting a lot of things on hold. I have missed the comaraderie of this group! This really is the most respectful and "loving" group I've ever been a part of! Anyway, here I am! I missed y'all!

    Yep a copy of the Allis-Chalmers model G. Here is a pic of @WHX24 taking a cruise on our '49 Allis G. Handy design for gardening, I can see why it is still duplicated.

    Fuel pump is just under the front of the air cleaner. Since the engine is magneto ignition, I just need battery power to crank it over for a test run. Just want to test it/the hydro and makes sure it all works. I’ll hopefully make the wiring harness next. I want to use the push button starter and all original controls on it if I can.

    I am a little embarrassed to say but I forgot what type of shrub this is. After all I only panted it years ago. Beautiful showers of clusters of white flowers that then turn into thousands of red berries attracting hundreds of birds.

    The serial number tag, and the new key ring, are on the 876, so it must be done.Like all my builds, it's not perfect, but maybe I preserved for a few more years, so the next guy can make it perfect. I had the seat re-made, duplicating the original, as much as possible. With one added bit of flair. I got the generator back today, and it's working. Drove it outside to take pics, and once again forgot about the trans valve. I sure like the looks of those Genny motors.

    Thanks! That backing metal tip will come in handy. It's another rainy day in Georgia so I'll have plenty of time to get out there in the garage. Not retired yet but work can be slow and boring - I need the WH distraction. I plan to become a welding fiend!

    I have a 1/2 ton Harbor Fright chain hoist to lift Kohlers off of tractors on to my Harbor Fright lift table. The table can lift 2 thumpers at once. I have also modified a Harbor Fright engine stand to hold 1.

    A motor cycle made from all Wheel Horse parts like the one @wallfish (standing next to it while @stevasaurus takes a ride) built from a snow plow frame is OK.

    What kind of competition are we talking about? If its flat out drag or oval/road course Id think you might be ok with that 2 stroke, but if its off road/crawling/mud runs/wheelies you might want to reconsider, forget hp and go for torque- like a big honkin' 4 stroke and pulley swap it for the speed you need. Most of us guys playing with offroading these are running anything from stock 8hp Kohlers to hopped up Predator and Vanguard V twins, and pulleys changed to run maybe 18-20mph flat out. Thats over triple the trans input speed that these Horses were designed for, yet very little if any failures, even on the lighter duty 3/4 speeds, and the only internal modifications done are to weld up or/flip the pinions to lock the axles. I just put new bearings and seals in my 8 pinion 8 speed after MUCH offroading, 14hp Kohler power/ 18mph top speed, and found absolutely zero internal issues. A couple guys are buzzing these things 40+mph and they're holding up, but I cant imagine for long. Have even heard rumors of 50mph+, but he grenaded two already and is going a different route. As for the splash lube, you are correct, but as long as its full of oil, the failure rate is extremely low, even on hard cornering and/or extreme steep/off camber situations. This still blows my mind but its a fact. Ona side note and disclaimer haha- aside from a choice few, most of us offroad guys are all about having some fun WITHOUT destroying these machines! They're old, they're built like a tank, but they're also not made anymore, and when they're gone, they're gone.....

    If you drill a little hole at the ends of the cracks it keeps them from traveling later on. Also you can use a piece of copper or brass to hold under the hole while welding. Which helps with burn thru., keeping the hole from getting larger before getting it filled in. Looking good though.

    Have you cleaned your points?? Connect your test light to good ground and touch the other end to the small negative terminal on the coil. When you crank the engine the light should flash on and off. If it doesn't clean and reset the gap on your points....018"

    i always thought those things were neat looking, but understand why they didn't catch on - @JoeM nailed - farmers don't like change. new fangled tech would have been a big expense and if it didn't work out you'd be stuck with it. i thought the electric conversion was kinda a neat footnote. i guess if you are looking at a 10hp motor it wouldn't take a lot of batteries to meet that need! http://therootdownfarm.homestead.com/GConversion.html at 2 grand for the conversion and who knows how much for the batteries though I'd be continuing to think it was cool and NOT owning one

    Like you I'm just in the learning process of figuring how how to weld. I learned quite a while ago that my own eyes are a little slower than normal to adjust from dark to light. That makes it a challenge when welding. For my own usage on my own auto darkening helmet I have to leave it at 9 and even that is just a hair too dark. You may find that when you think a light is bright, you need to put three of them to really see what you're looking at through the auto darkening. Keep experimenting with it and please do share the little things that you learn. Like you said, YouTube is great. Limited, but great. As you can see the folks on this site are more than willing to share the little tidbits of information that you may not have already seen.

    The two most frequent causes of a loss of spark would be the PTO switch not being in the off position or corrosion on electrical connectors. To verify that you ignition system is functional you can take a small jumper wire from the battery "+" terminal and connect it to the ignition coil "+" terminal. With this done there should be spark at the plugs.

    Thinkering a little longer about a Backhoe, not while i need it really, primary only that i have build one for myself. don‘t like to reinvent the Wheel, so firstly studing on some different designs like the above. but the most be very similar just with minor changes. Checking lot of designs at their pro‘s and con‘s to find out what i like best. I used the 3D to design my own but actually all Laser Companies are extreme Busy and a shortest timeline will be sept. and their prices increases dramatically, so i think i will build it in my own handmade Style. I decided to use what i have on hands. Begin with the Steelcutting 1.st part. And ordered few Steel pipes and plates i need for my Project.

    Well I got up early today to tackle the seat and tires and wheels on the 1075. Got all 4 done, the tires can use a touch more detailing but I am happy for now. So happy that why should I cover up all that hard work with the chrome hub caps? More to come, stay tuned.

    Jederzeit gerne btw. thanks all fellas to help him. I hope it is ok here to handle that conversation in German, it is easier for him than in English. Manfred asked how to setup the Carb to basic settings, because he disassembled the whole carb to clean even main nozzle was completely out. Is there a howto for the Basic Carb settings available

    You are correct however when i set the points with a timing light they usually seem to be a tad tighter than the .020 .. at least on some engines...could be worn plungers..

    Thank you. I am just learning. I'm using a wiring diagram along with two 1984 C-165s for reference. As you mentioned the safety switches on the PTO and seat make it difficult to trace the wires. My 1981 C-125 Automatic was wired differently as the headlights would only come on when the ignition was turned to run. I sold it a couple of years ago. Thank you again as I've found my problem. The amp meter failed so power wasn't getting to the ignition switch from the battery.

    Well, unfortunate, they weren't to be show pieces basically transport, but if thats the lay of the land so be it. Dug will mostly be static as he's the display for the 3d stuff and he'll likely be a little busy for a while gettin' those upgrades!!!!!! So i guess were walkin'!(what did I do with that wheelchair electric trike???)

    @formariz I was a Tech Ed teacher. More a generalist in a wood shop, metal shop, engineering and architectural drawing. Have been a tool guy all my life. Today, retired, there is no one in my life who I can converse with about tools. Having you relate your experiences gives me the opportunity to "talk tools".

    Nope the Tecky rework is delayed. i have seen 3 Weeks ago a complete Tecky rebuild kit incl. conrod gaskets and new piston for 180$, what sounds a very fair price, but this kit is actually not available. But they will inform me if it is again available. Just for a Piston rings 160$, i found too much. So i delayed the Tecky rebuild until i have all materials here. Primary i design it for the Beast with it’s built in rear PTO driven own Pump and Tank. The idea is a Switching system, to be able to adapt it also on the Horse if needed. With a different pump for the Horse. But that is a „ later on“ task after the Backhoe exists. It depends on how heavy it will be if finished.

    Well there are 4 strokes that have reved over 16000 rpm, in fact I wouldnt be surprised if they have topped 20,000 rpm now. If im not mistaken the F1 or indy motors I think rev right up there. You did get me thinking though....oh oh here comes trouble??? Does anyone remember what was refered to amungst other bikes a widow maker? Kawasaki triple threat? Dag nabber when it hit its power band they would just snap faster then one could correct. Now one of those in your wheel horse Id be uping my life insurance heheheheh.

    I ask the local mower shop about it, he said it couldn't be fixed they have been in business for ever, I worked there for his father one summer back in1962 assembling mowers. This is what I was assembling. The government got on the safety thing and put all the small builders out of business. The one in the picture is on it's filth engine, 1958 model.

    Here's a before. And a progress report pic. Not done yet. 3/4 or so plus the rakes at the ends of the gables. We're having the entire perimeter of the roof trim replaced as well. All Certainteed Vinylboards. All the metal and metal trim is made right North of us in Bridgton, ME. Everlast Roofing Company.

    Because i have to rest for a few day‘s some things going slow. so i decided yesterday to improve the charging ability for the Predator. In first try i added an cheap chinese charging Coil to the one that exists, but that was primary purchased to have a coilbase to rework it. The both chinese Coils delivers a max. of 1,5 Amps charging Peak, what is not senseful with the two High power LED Lights. So i used them splitted, one for the Battery and one for battery Charging. To change that, i do my equations and get a result of 230 Windings on that Coil with a 1,2mm Wire. So after the last Coils, i got a rest of Coilwire, i will give it a Try. because i run out of Wire while Winding, i have to stop at 174 Windings, what be far away from the windings i have to do, but i decided to give her a try to get a measured results to compare it with my Calculations. The Calculations told me for this Coils 8,7V by anCurrent of 5-7A, what was still not enough, but we will see what we got measured. Here is the compare between the removed Wire on the left and the new Wiring on the right. I crimped two wires on and protect the Wire with a added coat of clearcoat. That i wound a Foil on it Insulated the open Wires in a heat resistant Covering. The end build a little shrinktube to get it fixed. at least i put a wound of self taping paper on it, to be anle to mark the Coil. with a handwriting description i mount it in place and completing the Engine for a Testrun. The measured results be as followed: at 1500 RPM = 5,10V @ 3,12A at 2000 RPM = 6,75V @ 3,48A at 2500 RPM = 8,58V @ 4,76A at 3000 RPM = 10,39V @ 6,75A at 3600 RPM = 11,98V @ 6,98A This measurements are done with a Voltage regulator and an Capacitor after to clean the Voltage and a oilcooled Dummy Load Resistor with 100W, my used Measureequippment was a Oscilloscope for the Voltage and a Clamp Ammeter for the Current. But after hook it up to the Battery i see a little charge. That will be done by the Coilcurrent in Peak, what can be seen on the Oscilloscope. There is a small fract, where this inducted Voltage beeing used a little to charge, because the Voltagepeaks reaches in top 15,4V AC in idle. But don‘t expect much current, because there is just a fract of the Voltage that can be used. So i guess it‘s less than before on Charging. but however, this give me the good feeling, i‘m not too far from the calculations away.
