So the story goes like this. I come in around 6-630 last night from chores, sit down to board and my wife says somethin about Tom on FB and a load of tractors and that Brett Esse of the Portage show fame was out lookin for Cases when he picked up a load of horses from some collector up by Wausau somewhere. So Tom commented something about some '67s on it and I should take a look. Next thing I know she PMs our address to him, hands me a wad of horse cash and says here I'm goin to bed! Sure enough about 8:30 he pulls in and we commenced to looking things over. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse as he had no place to go with the load. . He wants to flip them right away. Bet he's lucky to have made a Benny on the load. Can't imagine he paid much less than I did. The hydros came off slow as they wouldn't push and too dark to find tow valves. He said the seller set them on the trailer with a skid steer and since @pullstart doesn't have my FEL done yet.... Gear jammers on the front rolled right off. Finally about 10 we got them all off but then I had to give him a tour of the herd and show him the flame and BS about the up coming Portage show. Some more pics of last nite's

Unfortunately as we travel around many times we see nothing but stupidity, insanity and outright bad examples. Today however something different caught my eye and warmed my heart.

Well I saw these on an online auction and just had to bid on them. Dont ask me why as none of it will fit me. Pretty rare stuff, I did some research on them, maybe someone knows more about them and can share. It is my understanding that there was only 10 dealers on the council? I could be wrong. Here are some photos of what I purchased and some vintage photos I found while doing my research. The Dealer shirts are size Large and the Windbreakers are med , large , and x large. The womans shirt says small, but I believe that to be a mens small, figure on a med ladies size. Believe the windbreakers to be from the 60's and never been worn. The dealer shirts are clearly marked 74 by the patch. I posted that picture of Lincoln Radiator and Power Equipment. A member here has it hanging in his garage. There were in Illinois. I hope someone has more info they can share. Also if anyone else has some vintage Wheel Horse clothing lets see it. @CasualObserver owns the sign I believe.

Saved the best for last. Had to buy everything as a package in order to get the 416. Can't complain, I've spent more on lunch. She runs well, the hydro work and the hr. meter running She's got some bump & bruises. 2 - 42's

It's a tough mix to get just right. Believed to contain non-ethanol regular gas, engine oil with high levels of zinc phosphate, Kendall Blue chassis Grease from an old metal can, several different kinds of paint and surface care chemicals such as rubbing compound, mother's wax, mag polish, mixed with a fair amount of elbow grease... Apply directly to the surface of a trailer in two straight rows and the horses crawl right up.

There was a family of moles, Papa Mole, Mamma Mole and Baby Mole and they went on vacation. They traveled underground all in a row and Papa mole ran them into a pancake house and he stopped quick and they all collided. Papa Mole sticks his head out and sniffs, "Smells like pancakes cookin Mama!" Mama sticks her head out and sniffs "Oh yes, and it smells like honey to me!" Baby Mole sticks his head out "Well it smells like Mole-asses to me!"

I mentioned yesterday, the choke cable broke on my 876, 5 minutes after installing it. Today, I am not doing anything but sitting around waiting on parts, so I decided to fix it. When I got the tractor, the throttle cable knob was gone. I replaced that cable with a new one, but wanted to fix the old one anyway. I decided to make a picture archive of how I repair control cables. I have repaired a lot of Lawn Boy, and tractor cables, none have failed me yet. Most of you probably have your own method, but there may be some that have no idea, and the last Wheel Horse cable I bought, was $40. For this demonstration I am going to name the parts. The knob was gone, so I sort-a created one. I buy cheap cables on line, cut them up and use the pieces. I want to be able to keep the stock Wheel Horse receiver, that fits the dash, and looks right C Cut the inner cable off of the barrel, and grind a flat spot in it, about 1/2" A word or 2 about soldering here. Some people just can't seem to do it. These are things I keep in mind, and they work for me. I ALWAYS use soldering paste. Ruby Fluid in my favorite. CLEAN everything. Solder likes heat. It tends to want to go to the hottest spot. It's also a little narcissistic, it likes itself a lot. It wants to go with other solder. "TIN" your pieces before joining them. Put solder on both pieces, and they will join themselves. Don't use big fat rolls of solder. Save that for the plumbers. Solder your inner cable to the barrel. After soldering, file it round. My barrel has no knob of course, but it will do for demo purposes. Clamp your outer cable in the vise. Chances are, the receiver will screw right out of it. You may have to chamfer the end of your new outer cable a bit, to get it in the receiver. It doesn't have to go far. Tin them both, and solder together.REMEMBER CLEAN! Take some stranded wire and wrap around the splice. It will act as re-rod for the solder. Add more solder ever couple of wraps Once you have all the wire on it, load it up with solder. Now you can take it to your bench grinder, and smooth it up a bit. Don't grind away too much! Then it all gets covered in shrink tubing. When I get the correct motor on the 876, and get the cable to just the right length, I will cover the entire thing with shrink tubing. I like the fact that I am able to reuse the stock receiver and knob. They just look right. Like I said, the knob for the throttle cable was gone, so I ordered a new control cable for that.

@Dan.gerous @Wheel Horse 3D Yes he was correct. It is for chinking the deck boards with oakum fibers. My friend as his apprentice would go first with this tool twist the fibers into the appropriate thickness and press them into the joint. Father would follow behind with caulking hammer and chisel and finish it off. He was a master shipwrights. A prolific plane maker. I still ask why but I have been blessed by inheriting his tools and lifetime accumulation of numerous items. Still today every time we get together more items are given to me. His name was Edwin DeVoe . I have also numerous blocks of exotic woods such Bubinga and Macassar Ebony marked or started as planes that he never completed.

They make the rocking world go round! got the 24-12-12 Carlisles mounted with a set of Farmall weights on her. I really like the way they look on this tractor. I think the added stability will be good when I get the loader on as well. For perspective, the 23-10.5-12 Deestones.

Ok first of all. New DeWalt bandsaw. UTTER. BEAST. What an incredible piece of equipment. Everyone who ever reads this should tell everyone they know and 2 dozen they don't know that Eric me Bear 🐻 says this is THE BEES KNEES. Well the reason I got that at all is for the new found interest in heat sticking metal together. I tried it tonight to cut that 1-1/8" mild steel hex rod. Just. Butter. I sliced up one of the tie rods to size. Drilled and tapped it. Tried it out. Seems to be a usable length with good adjustment. Oh yes and a bonus pic. This is a young barred owl that was hanging out in the road this morning. I backed up past it to check welfare. It flew about 5 feet to the edge of the road so it was likely ok. For scale it was around 10 or 11 inches as standing.

Got the old Country Squire going and dragged my new air compressor into the shed. Did I want one this big? Honestly, no.. but I got it for a bargain and it's more air than either of my sandblasters will ever need. Moving an anchor like that on a grade like ours, on a Squire that wasn't fitted with brakes.. it's a lot of fun.. Had piles of firewood sitting around as bump stops.

Got a little more done on the wife’s “2054”. Since the frame is a gt14 frame, I needed to use the gt14 foot plates (already drilled for the frame) but want them to look like the correct step. So I sliced and diced a set of gt14 steps to the correct size. I will weld the tail piece that bolts to the front of the fender later, after I get the fender pan mounted solid. Starting to look like I’m actually getting somewhere.

You know where there at! Come get that erector set too! I know for sure the Bhood has the Briggs twin in. A 1057 was the bucket tractor so all I need is a 877 to round out the entire lineup of '67s. There is a nice 857 there that will go to another home. A C-121. Thought there was a 856 there too. Boxes of parts a deck and two blowers. Gonna sneak home at lunch to catalog it all and more pics.

Helped my brother bring home a Massey Harris 44 with a trip bucket on it. If you've ever loaded a tractor that doesn't run & has a front end loader on it, you can imagine the fun that we had.
