9 pointsToday I finished building a bagger mount weight bracket for my snow blower tractor. Should have more than enough traction for the driveway now.

9 pointsRecently acquired a 312-8 with the K301s engine. It ran fine but after pulling the spark plug and looking around with a borescope camera it had a lot of carbon build up so I pulled the head and cleaned it up and put on a new head gasket. valves are seating very good and she runs very smooth. Now I won't have to worry about carbon scoring the cylinder walls and can sleep easy! cleaned up and cleaned the head as well before reassembly

5 pointsHi Guys, I just bought two 24-12-12 Carlisle turf master tires for my loader tractor. The reason I’m posting this is the price. 79.99. I thought that was very good plus I’m in NH which = no tax. Funny the 23-1050-12’s were 118.00. Can’t wait to mount them up!

5 pointsA progress report as promised. Had a fairly successful day and only had to make one trip to the hardware store. Even though they didn't leak before, I changed all of the shaft seals on the transmission. As long as all the pulleys & hubs were off I figured it a good idea. This is where I stopped for the day. I'll share my progress again after tomorrows adventures.

5 pointsEverything is looking pretty good inside. No excessive wear, no chipped teeth. All the inner bearings look good and spin nicely.

5 pointsWhen you have 20 Wheel Horses you don't run out and buy new tires just because they have some dry cracks. I just tube them. Only have had one failure. That was an ancient 7.00-12 snow tread tire. 2 tubes for $25 beat 50+ dollar each tires...in my book. How to tell what you have, If the valve stem has a bulge just as it goes into the wheel tubeless Straight side into the rim..Tube...

5 pointsSorry to say, I have 2 "replacements from him setting in the scrap pile. When I contacted him about them I got a lot of questions about rings, valve leakage, leak down test, breather dirty, etc. Both of the engines I tried to put them on may be a little tired. But the fact is both of those engines run just fine today with rebuilt Kohler carbs on them I got from A-Z. Today if when I see a used Kohler K on Craigslist for cheap, I'm buying it for parts, especially if it has a carb on it.

5 pointsI use a different service, Taxslayer, had my federal and state returns, within a week. I was actually surprised at how quick they went thru. Must be my clean living

5 pointsNot so much to the tractors themselves, but added some bling to the barn.

4 points'66 C-10 my great grandpa bought new the day my uncle was born. My great uncle wrecked it shortly before he was killed during Vietnam. There's a bit of wrinkled metal behind the cab we left from it. My great grandparents drove it across the country to my parents' wedding in '85. It was the last trip up here they made together. Great grandpa (Pa) passed away in the early 90's and my dad bought it from Ma. Dad drove it as his daily truck for a couple of years, before he tore it apart and got in the restoration over his head. Over 4 moves we had to move it in pieces. In 2015 my dad finally decided to have it finished. This is how it rolled into the shop Took about 2 years, but this is how it drove out

4 pointsI love it when a plan comes together says the A team dude! Did you use that material under the motor that work donated to the cause? It really does work good for a mounting pad. How do you always seem to get away with just seals? I saved a bit of the rust dust in case you wanted to be a real bro and snort some like I had to do off the wire wheel! Had brown boogers for a week! This is where I stand but just getting baby steps done. Life keeps getting in the way.

4 pointsSteam itself doesn't clean much. It loosens and softens the crud making it come off easier The industrial cleaner usually have a soap setting to use a caustic soda or something similar. I have used the home steamers before worked ok but you still have to hit it with a strong water spray . The best way I have cleaned gunky engines is: Hit it with CRC Engine Degreaser. works great and isn't stinky like Gunk Engine Brite. Let it sit for a half hour. Hit it again with CRC and go have a coffee. Then I run hot water thru my pressure washer. I have a tankless water heater and I can run it as long as I want.

4 pointsThe local metal supplier(ALRO) has a bin for "drops" or cut off sections from larger pieces. they sell at discounted price. some are longer, some are shorter. Anytime I am in area I stop by and raid drop rack and buy anything that I think I can use.
-
4 pointsMaybe it's an illusion or glitch in the matrix
-
4 pointsI just bolted a chunk of angle to the mule drive above the tension knob. The mule drive still works and there's room for a ball and a clevis hole.
-
4 pointsWell since @stevebo posted in here this must be the "Official" thread now! 2 Camping chairs with Suburban patches sewn in the backs $20 Very nice Jackson 30h 77 Drop spreader. I don't think it was ever used. Has valuable barn dust. $30.00

4 pointsNo work today so it's go time for assembly. I'll post more pic's of my progress at the end of the day.

4 pointsGot sad! Alright who upset mother nature this time?! Was welding and painting outside almost all month long in t-shirts now its snowing! Someone must have tried mowing the lawn to early!
-
4 pointsJust gotta love it how Steve gets worked up when someone's gotta open a tranny! High on my list of builds & should be on yours 'Foosie. You be surprised at how easy it would be to get that trailer in tight spots then.

4 pointsSteel is a super hot commodity right now. It is in major shortage and a few foundries have been purchased by a “nobody” company making them the biggest all of the sudden and cornering the market. With that said, full lengths are generally cheaper than by the foot. If you can purchase 20 or 24’ sticks, you’ll be best off.

4 pointsNot bad for brush job even if I do say mesel'. And that's not a lump on the upright. Reflection of the kerb.

3 pointsI've been working on this project off and on for just short of 4 years. This tractor has all my favorite tractor components. Diesel, 8 speed, 3 point, and gear reduction steering. The engine is a 3 cylinder Shibuara from a Ford LGT14d. As you can guess, it was not easy to find room for everything under the hood. But with the help of some skilled welding friends we made it all work. The 3 point is winch operated, and works very well. I plan to put a loader on the tractor down the road when I am able to find one. I was only able to post a few pictures in the thread, but if you want to see images from the every step in the build I included a google photos album. https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Hoxk1nWrTwBiJP37 The start of the project Final Mock Up Paint

3 pointsLooking at a C-125. Has a tiller, mower deck, ag, turf tires, cleaves hitch. He bought it new in 83. Garage kept. never seen the rain original seat is mint. oil change every 50 hrs. 1000 hrs on it. He is asking $1.050. Runs great. Should I pull the triger?
-
3 pointsIt must be my lucky day. I found that ball bearing. When I pulled the shift fork rod out the ball bearing shot right into the passage to the back of the case. Sat right there in a dab of grease. So I made it this far tonight. Anyone know off the top of your head the torque specs for the bull gear bolts?

3 pointsSo I finally got around to finishing my custom bagger mount weight bracket conversion. It seems to hold weight really well. all that really went into it was a few pieces of steel tubing and a hunk of bar steel. The long bolts I used came with the weight off amazon. A Briggs and Stratton 50 pounder. I’d like to eventually find a nice cast weight, but for now this works great!

3 pointsReminds me of the scene at the end of True Grit where that little horse just ran and ran until it just couldnt anymore. On a Happier note..... you can bring this one back to life !
-
3 pointsI'm still surprised she didn't spin or do a back flip. How much weight do you have on the trailer tongue? I back flipped my Commando 8 pulling my 6000 lb boat that had 400 lb on the tongue. It was pulling it out of the barn easily on the level blacktop until a back wheel on the trailer bumped a 2X4 block. The only thing that broke was my dignity.. Now I only use the front hitch to move heavy loads and I keep the trailer tongue wheel down for support. Like you said, you may have had some long term damage due to the bad hubs.
-
3 pointsCheck with a welding shop or industrial supplier, should expect to pay about $ 5.00 a foot for Sch 80 3/4" black iron pipe. It is 1.05" OD and 0.74" ID which is as close as you are likely to find unless you go to DOM mechanical tubing which is very strong but also very expensive. 1" DOM with a 0.120 wall has an ID of 0.76" and cost about $ 20 a foot.

3 pointsI have used TurboTax since 2007. Federal refund always came within two weeks. No difference this year. However, I have not received my State refund yet this year. I filed in February.
