I thought we all were going to watch and make an attempt to not keep quoting posts full of pictures so we had to look at them over and over and over and over and over. Think of the people with cell phones please. You can quote what you need to draw attention to why your are posting without copying all of the pictures that go with it.

Well it’s done. This is my loader tractor and I honestly never intended to restore it this year. I’ve made several posts regarding it because I wanted several upgrades for putting it to work this spring. I really only intend to swap in the 520 front axle but ended up completely going thru it. Learned a lot!!! Here she is all done. I’ll be going through the kwikway loader next week and mounting it.

@krystolo, see, you get it. No big deal, nobody is really doing anything wrong. It is about making a thread work and read better, in order to help those reading it. If those that do this would go back and take a look and try to read a thread that they just kept quoting posts in, they would get it also. Thanks.

Jeff, I don't know what the folks on cell phones have as options, but I can tell you this, none of the stuff on the previous page (419) had to be quoted at all. On the other side, you bring up somethings to look in to. Quite honestly, it is a pain in the butt for me, with a tower, to have to keep scrolling through all the BS that I just looked at the 1st time. I don't need to keep seeing it over and over and over and over.

Finished the rear rack for the Sears'Roper today. Made from all scrap. Box section, angle iron and part of a old gate. Open ends of box section now plugged and rack painted. I'll refit it tomorrow. The chalk marks were to remind me to cut the corners off. The whole thing is held with the hitch pin and a nut and bolt in either side. Five minutes to fit or remove. The box was on the front of the Sears, but on really rough ground could catch. Two bolts and wing nuts hold it on. Won't catch now. I can get the chainsaw, plus fuel and oil cans etc.

I just cannot love this enough. Not only are you teaching her valuable skills as a mechanic, you are giving her confidence to tackle anything in life and empowering her to shirk those societal limitations girls and women often face. I admire you for doing this, and it will serve her well. Good papa! One of my favorite quotes from my own dad (teaching me to drive), "Pull on out there! They've got brakes."

You’d get along with Mrs. Pullstart I’m sure @krystolo! She’s a third generation circle track driver, there’s not much she can’t do that I can. She even taught me to shoot bow and hunt! Having only daughters, I often times am asked if I’ll try for a boy or if I wish I had one. I’m 100% satisfied with my girls!

The 876 got new shoes today. No new wheels. I think I have spent my wheel budget for a while. Although, my wife hates this antique white color, sooooooooo..... I was hoping to get the new saddle today as well, but that didn't happen. I think it will be a surprise. I am trying to mount the K-181 #1 on it for now, but I am hitting a few road blocks. The correct motor in a Genny motor, this one has a typical starter. As you can see, the starter sort-a interferes with the battery box. I have my grand kids toy truck battery in it right now. I have no idea if it will spin the motor or not. It is 12v , 9.5Ah. Hopefully it will at least keep the motor running. It was magneto ignition, and I switched it to battery ignition. I have the coil mounted to the block.. Again, I don't know if tha'ts good or bad. Maybe it will transfer too much heat to the coil. The oil fill tube is much too high for the hood to fit I think. I would not be opposed to cutting it off though. I don't have the dash back from the media blaster yet either. I still don't think I have my brake/drive linkage quite right yet. One more trip to the R & D department, and I think I'll have it working correctly. I also want to install a remote, vacuum operated fuel pump. Every time I hook up one of these K161, or 181, with the #16 carb, to an electric fuel pump, I get too much fuel being thrown at it, so I will try the pulse pump.

That's not just a bullet, more like a hand grenade! People don't realize the damage they can cause with impact. Torque specs are there for a reason. Lucky catch.

My FIL’s shop sponsors quite a bit of my tools when they upgrade, have broken stuff, etc. He asked today “how much for the bent tube for a 78 year old Vet’s hand rail? Phfssshh. NOTHING, of course! Well, they say no good deed goes unpunished. We prevail, with a clear mind. I just purchased 4 3/8x1/4 pipe bushings for the FEL project, of which are wrong sizes for my needs. A quick torx bit easy out procedure and I’m back up and running. I’d like to thank the man who fought for my freedom. If a handrail is my hand shake, a broken fitting won’t stand a chance of getting in the way.

Not so!! I remember riding in my Uncle's 65 Impala SS with the big honkin vacuum gauge on the dash. I could have watched that thing all day! In all seriousness , the Toro gauge may not be the most useful one , but I diagnosed many an 8 cylinder engine with a hand held vacuum gauge. " late timing, sticky valves,bad cams ect. Still in the tool box!

Kinda slow going at this point on the deck rebuild. Got my new rollers from K & B (thanks Brian!) but still waiting on the new idler which I SHOULD HAVE ordered from Brian also, but for some reason did not (sorry Brian!) ... This is a 'worker' deck so I'm not too concerned about the paint job quality which shows in this pic, but it really looks WAY WAY better than it did. I should have used some sandpaper, I know... The rear roller shaft is done, my welding skills are improving a little at a time, still not 'great' but not 'awful' either! Have a few more things to wire brush and paint then on to reassembly.

You folks are AWESOME! That front axle beam surely is a keeper along with the tie rods since the other stuff was in such good shape. Wonder why that machine got parted out in the first place? Seems to have had low hours on it judging by no wear on the spindles!

We get a good selection here on the feeder, but goldfinch dominate followed by chaffinch, greenfinch, greater spotted woodpecker, blue t!t (love how it censors this), collared dove and pheasant!!! oh we get a lot of moles too!!!!

for general chores, my Deestone 23x10.50’s have been pretty amazing. They don’t tear up much grass but will plow a field quite well!

We got your parts pulled off They are super nice with virtually zero wear! The wheels have bearings that are nice and tight too.

Got my results back.... negative.

actually dodged flying flywheel pieces. Picked up an Electro a couple years ago. I pulled the head when I got it to decarbon and saw it was .030 over. OK no problem she ran well no smoke. Loaned her to neighbor who used her 48" deck to mow a couple acres for 2 years. Ran fine but leaked like a sieve. he bought fancy new Kubota 2601 and returned the horse . i used her last winter for limited snowplow duty. Got tired of the leaks and tore her down. Cause of eh leaks was pretty obvious, who ever did the overhaul didn't want to spring for a gasket set. Some were obviously reused and in poor shape some no gaskets at all just some RTV especial the oil and fuel pump. Also noted the flywheel didn't have a normal bolt holding it on. Started to reassemble and when I cleaned up the flywheel to put it back on saw this.....

Please share some of the important things you learned, never know who you will be helping out.

Right...the input pulley and brake drum have to come off. I can't believe you would try to open that with those parts still on there. That stuff is attached to everything inside. WOW !!! Keep the shallow side down when you open it.

Yes. Setting idle mixture you would want to obtain the highest reading with no flutter or hunting back and forth. Flutter/ bouncing would indicate a valve not sealing good for example. Hunting up and down- lean mixture. Low reading late timing

Seems I heard that one myself! You sure we're not long lost siblings! My reply was typically; "OK Dad, it's YOUR side!" Just remembered another one... " You waiting for them to come out of Long Branch? " (which was the next town over)

People generally think that the family tree gets exponentially wider and wider the further back one goes. That is true... to an extent. If that continued indefinitely at some point your own tree would have more people than existed on the planet at that time. Logical thinking would reveal that everyone's family tree is DIAMOND shaped. Wider and wider to a point that it begins to narrow again. The conclusion is that we are ALL related. But you knew that already, right? When I was deeply into family research years ago I read a paper by a noted genealogist (sorry, don't remember name!) that explored statistics. One thing that stuck with me was that statistically if you had European ancestry the odds were over 90% that if you had a time machine and went back 2000 years, the FIRST person you met in the FIRST European village you went into would be an ancestor. Also he continued and said that if you could trace ONE family back to 1600s colonial New England the odds are over 90% that you are related to at least TWO US presidents. If you trace TWO lines back, the odds approach 100%. Yes, distant cousins, 10th or so, but related never the less. I've traced over a dozen family lines back and at last count more than ten US presidents are distant cousins. And that is not at all unusual. And heaven help you if you find in your tree that cousins married, prepare yourself for the realization that your siblings are ALSO your cousins! In fact, that entire line are not only direct ancestors but also cousins. Weird but true. My siblings are also my 10th AND 12th cousins. My father was my 9th and 11th cousin, once removed, my Grandfather 8th and 10th, twice removed and so on back a whole bunch of generations. Maybe that's what's wrong with me!

My dad‘s 78C 161 with the twin Briggs is our most dependable and reliable horse that we have. It’s never been touched and it sat in his basement for eight years before I brought it out and gave it a minor tuneup and it roared back to life just like it did the last time he used it before he passed. The power and sound are only matched by the Onans.
