Bought this 420 LSE. It’s #37/200. More of a worker than a show tractor. I’ll probably continue to use it as a worker. Needs some cosmetic elbow grease more than anything. Came with 48” deck, & wheel horse grass catcher system, Snow Blower, 2 aerators, (plug & spike type), & a grass thatcher.

Just a heads up about this scam. I received a message today while I was away that my package couldn't be delivered because there was no one to sign for it. Just so happens, I was expecting a package and I was away. The message had a link and that wanted personal information and wanted a small fee to have it delivered. If I were stupid the bastards would have wrecked my finances. I should have not clicked on it at all and if you ever see this delete it.

A tow bar for the front of a tractor is a very handy thing to have. Makes reversing a trailer much easier than twisting round to see what you're doing. I made one for the Wheel Horses some time a go out of an old mule drive. Yesterday I knock up one out of some scrap box section off cuts, for the Sears GT16 that's mainly used for trailer duty.

As a follow up to my earlier post about pretty tractors, I just made my 141 a little prettier. At least I think so. I found out, what most of you probably already know, You cannot use the stock 7/16 lug bolts to attach wheel spacers, and of course my little metropolis here offers little in the way of 7/16 fine thread anything. But I found enough hardware to at least temporarily bolt on the spacers. Then came trying to get the wheel on to the lug bolts. Nope. A 1/2" bolt would go through the holes, barely. Getting 5 of them through 5 holes was not gonna happen. I (reluctantly) bored out my new rims, to 9/16. That worked. When I was measuring, and looking, and trying to decide how thick the spacers had to be, I decided on 1 1/2". Of course I was doing all my measuring on the right side. The left side has the brake mechanism. CRAP ! I added (2) 1/2" flat washer to the studs, and the tires cleared. I added another washer for good measure. The fronts were another story all together. My original hubs are about 3 3/4 wide at the spindle. These new spindles are about 2 3/4". If I was suppose to order spacers for this difference, good ole Ed at Miller Tire, neglected to tell me that. Actually Ed was a great help. He knew his product, he knew what I was trying to do, and he knew what I needed, even if I didn't THANK YOU ED ! I cut some spacers from some 1" galvanized pipe for now. Tomorrow I will get something a little better. As a side note. My wife loves it. Reminds her of her High School days. WHEW !

I received a PM from @542WheelHorse a couple of days ago, He was asking questions about a newly acquired RJ but it turned out to be a Suburban 400 and a dandy one at that. He couldn't post these pictures so I offered to and to start this thread. Here's the latest OM he sent me as well as some pictures he emailed me. Good morning and thank you for the response and confirmation of the Suburban. Appreicate your feedback on the condition of the unit. Fortunately this unit was always garage kept and was used for its original purpose up until 1990 or though! At this point, it was replaced by a larger Wheelhorse (no longer in our posession). Either way,much of the leg work is complete aside from fine-tuning and reassembling and sourcing help from folks like yourself and the forum. With that said, I have no problem with you posting a thread. I appreciate the clarification on the seat detail and will correct it forth coming. I do have the original traiangular belt guard, I could use some clairification on how to mount it with the spacers. I'll find a photo of the guard and shoot it over to you. Seperately, aside from peeling the belt onto the until, are there any tricks of the trade to making the belt attach? Thanks in advance of the photo of the choke. When I get some of the incoming parts (fuel glass strainer, exhaust and exhaust pipe) I can take photos of both sides. With that said, what is the backstory as to why you went with the vertical exhaust on the tractor? So far all I've mentioned in our PM's is to turn that seat spring around and the belt guard thing. He does have the guard. OK Kyle, here's the choke hook up. I thought I had a better one. If you need one showing the other end let me know. It simply hooks to the choke butterfly arm so when you move the lever backwards it chokes. Your throttle is hooked up correctly but I shortened mine to stay behind the hood stand. As far as my exhaust stack I typically don't care for them but this is just a putting around toy and when I saw the stacks Bud Andrews makes I like the way it seems perfectly scaled to my Suburban. It sounds awesome too. The K91 I put on the tractor didn't have a threaded exhaust port so I threaded them. Then it was simply a series of pipe nipples painted with header silver. It naturally supported from the engine block by the U bolt at the hood stand. It looks like your port is already threaded, To install the drive belt make sure all three pullies are lined up. It goes on the inner most pully at the engine. Simply depress the clutch and slip it on. Now here's something I'm curious about. That rear hitch. Not the slot hitch but the Y shaped one. By design they drop down like that. Why? I have one and I modified it to stay level. That's all I can think of right now Kyle. I'm sure you'll have more questions but we all love that here.

Well after 2 years i figured it was time to refresh the skin of my horse. After about 5 days spraying and approx 5 coats of clear, this is what come of my inexpensive quick paint job. There are some flaws, but i can fix those over time, till i can do it better. Thats all i can get it to let me upload. Sorry ik i got the tires haven't cleaned them yet either.

Waaahahaha the Correct Belts finally arrives... ok the first take was my big fail, measuring in cm and order same lenght instead in inches was not my best idea.. 😎🍺 But however immediately ordered the right sizes corrects that all. finally 2 new Belts on.. - Testride... 😂 after 5 min. I hear a ploink and the lower Pulley slacking arround. Dang, c clip say by by. put another on but after 5 min same result. put another on and rechecked the alignment, that is now with the changed engine few mm out of alignment. after comparing the Tecky i knew why, it is simply a different pulley. ok, to fix that i decide to mount a Bearing, that catches the Pulley where before the zerk fitting was. But non Servicable - not with me... get a M6 Bolt with hexscrew head put it in the Lathe and reworked it. first drill a 3mm hole thru it. Than drill it up to 5 mm followed by a M6 thread. - here is the result. seldmade XXL zerk Fitting. With the screwed Zerk i have again the ability to screw it in. Put an bearing on that runs free on the outer Ring if it is screwed in. Voila - problem solved. At least i give her a Cleanup with Ballistol (Gun oil)

Got a call yesterday from a lady that was recently widowed and told me to come get her husband's wheel horse and get it out of her shed. Her son got her a brand new husqvarna. So I didn't argue and I went down tonight and picked it up. Apparently they had a lot of trouble with it, but i know these folks and although they are good people i knew this tractor wasn't maintained. I had a Raider 10 a long time ago and sold it and I have kicked myself for it ever since. This thing needs some work, but I think I found next winter's project!

I wanted to give a shout out to Redo Your Horse. Terry is without doubt the best vendor I’ve ever dealt with, bar none. Last fall I sent him a picture of the decals of a 37” deck I’m restoring. He recreated them and sent them free of charge with the decals for my 416. Here are a couple of pics of my 416?progress. I have to admit, putting decals on is my favorite part! First a before pic. Btw I know the Danger sticker is upside right. Toro got it wrong!

Thanks for the heads up on the UPS scam. FYI - If I happen to see any of you broke down on the side of the road, I'm going to drive right by. My reasoning for this is that I know for a fact that you all have had ample opportunity to purchase the extended warranty that has been offered to you over the phone at least once a week.

I was told to never tighten a cylinder in a vise because it can bend the tube. If you anchor the far end and take the retaining ring out you should be able to use the rod like a slide hammer to pull it apart. Have the ports open when you do it. That retaining ring appears to be backwards. You want the sharp side facing out. Garry

No prob! The hex idea came when I couldn't figure out how to hold round stock easily haha. Work smarter not harder!

Both of us like those little round hoods. In the matter of being a practical worker it's not something I would use because I have a great preference towards a separate brake pedal and the flat foot boards of the 70s and up. Trina would most certainly use one as a worker but she's so damn chea..., I uhh, frugal.... I told her she ought to get one and she said something to the effect of "I don't need more tractas. I already have 2 tractas.. . And now we're going to build a military tribute.."

We had our hearts broken last year when the show was cancelled. It's hard to get enthusiastic this year when there is still a big question mark hanging over not only Pennsylvania, but the entire country. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm a realist.

Go just a bit farther by removing the seat support and cleaning things completely. Did you check the drain plug? The bolts that hold the seat support go into the transmission and should have some sealant on the threads. The axle seals are a common problem and usually cause oil to run onto the tire. The dipstick tube may be loose or cracked, so check that. Hydraulic connections may be leaking. Until you completely clean up the entire area, you can't be sure where the leak is. I would suggest using Purple Power, a paint brush and a garden hose for the cleaning, make take several applications.

More parts painted and installed. The Kohler will be getting installed next week.

Not much happened here today but I did get a box from McMaster-Carr with some brake lining in it. Man they are fast.

So today I degreased and cleaned the deck. Needs a patch on top but not to bad. Decided to try it on for size. Goes on easy enough. All my other Wheel Horses had the front mule drive so I wanted to make sure this set up was all there. I'm going to use the deck on my 857 after it is repaired and painted. I still have not tried to start it yet.... soon.

Ok so my plans for bringing it over to a friends house fell through this morning. I did pick up the tires and got them mounted on the rims. Figured I would put some paint on them since they were off. Not my best work but better then before. I had to get 16 x 6.5 - 8 for it. Kinda wide. Tires I took off were 16 x 5.5 - 8. Was told that size was no longer made. Waiting on a steering wheel from @76c12091520h. Be a lot easier to move around. Price just went up !

Well I had plans on loading up the 875 and bringing it to my friends house. He was going to go over it with me and see if we couldnt get it to fire. He called early this AM and said he was feeling a little under the weather and asked if we could do it another day. I was excited to do it so I was a little disappointed. I did go and pick up the new tires for it and when I got home I had a package from the mail man on my front steps !! I got my 2 Wheel Horse hats, one old school, and one new. Love them. I also ordered a replacement steering wheel from @76c12091520h. The new tires and steering wheel will help out a lot with moving it around.

I removed idler pulley, & there is that 2nd threaded hole! Moving the idler to 2nd hole has solved the issue, I now have tension on the belt & the "slider" does move freely Thanks for all the advise gentlemen Roy

I had good luck with gorilla glue, others have used silicone, etc. Just make sure your surface is smooth and clean. Rough sandpaper works well.

Like to know how you attach yours and how it comes out gonna have to do somthing with mine or imma be Flintstoning it

I was having luck with backdraging the big pile to get it to a point so I can push the milling around. Ran out of gas, so a quick trip to town turned into a 2 hour event with the boss. So I'll attack it tomorrow if the rain scheduled isn't too bad. A box blade would do me wonders at this point.

Gases, greased, checked oil and out for a drive! Four of the five RJ’s got some sun today! Suppose to reach 70 today in Indiana! Plus got the 702 out and warmed up. Still have work to do on the $60 RJ I bought for my brother David. I have two repaired and repainted RJ hoods and will pick best application for this rj. Already have a rebuilt showerhead muffler (rebuilt with new Kohler muffler front premed on old Kohler showerhead rear) .
