10 pointsChecked the trail cam today and got a surprise. Haven't seen this buck since Sept. 2020 and he showed up still sporting his horns. I hope he sheds them soon and starts growing a bigger set for next fall. Could be a shooter next year. A couple doe And a really old buck wait for it.

10 pointsThis week we will be traveling out east to Boston and Madison, New Jersey. Going to connect with Craig (AMC Rules) along the way to deliver some tires. But birthdays for twin granddaughters and big delivery for my grandson Henry! The Ralph family rocking horse! This rocking horse was made over 55 years ago and has been used by more than a dozen Ralph children and grandchildren! The wood parts are from a pattern in an old Popular Mechanics Magazine article and were made by my mother’s father John C. Fabian. The metal parts were made by my father Clifton E. Ralph , who was a blacksmith. The tail is from spun wool that my mother made especially for this horse! it’s a classic piece of Americana for sure! IMG_2033.MOV

7 pointsGonna be coming up on calendar spring here soon but there's still plenty of winter left here in Maine. We took a walk part way up the mountain across the street this afternoon. Air temp was 29° and there was some wind gusts easily over 20, some 25. Bit chilly. Snow depth varies greatly this time of year. Anywhere from bare ground to 15" of snow.

7 pointsWheel Horse 520H I love the full Stewart Warner gage cluster. As you can see the Tach to the far right is reading past 4000 RPM. That's a problem. New part on order. This is the test switch it don't work and is no longer available. I took it apart cleaned and lubricated it and its good to go! I purchased new arm rests for the seat. Cleaned up the Dash Panel refurbished both switches test and Head light Switch.

7 pointsTook a couple minutes to swap the dozer blade out for the plow. Flipped around my lift cable which I had installed backwards, and adjusted the clutch rod back a little. She's buzzing around better than ever.
-
6 pointsI'm still a newb to putting these together but here is another horse being brought back from the dead.
-
6 pointsWhat diameter? Looks like only 4" or so to me. Whatever you could throw a bag with string over it and then pull up a rope. Give you and your Horse something to do.

5 pointsThis show is a go! But will have a whole different look this year. We have moved the show to a new and bigger location and have partnered with a local tractor club that I am a member of to put on a full tractor show. So this year the show and and swap is open to everything Farm Tractor, Old engines and garden tractor related. Our feature is Original paint this year. At this facility we also have access to around 70 water/electric camp sites(no dump station on site). We are hoping for a great turn out so bring your tractors to show and parts to sell!!

5 pointsGot a super cool (early 60s??) Kohler generator from @Oldskool yesterday. I'll start a thread about that sometime... Today I took a sawzall and turned a VERY rugged pallet into a stone boat. Used the Cinnamon Horse to drag the genny to a better place in the drive until I can wash it up and get it down to the outdoor workshop.

5 pointsSo, you may remember this 310-8, paid $50 for it and was going to part it out. But Eva seemed to be rather fond of it. After a little bit of work, it turned out to be a good running unit, so I decided to keep it. I still wasn't sure how much I like it. After I changed out the spindles, added 8 inch front wheels and some ag's it started to look more like a WH. Starting to like it but she needs a job. Mower (?) not so much. That's better, now we are on to something. I've had this 36" tiller sitting around for about five years, it was for a C-series but it lines up just fine. Eva likes it too. Just need to get a rear lift assembly. I hope to order that this week. On to some other needed items. Not sure how much they weigh but remember them being quite so heavy!! Each tire took about 2 gallons. The rears tires will get filled too, just not today. The right rear needs to be tubed first. I finished out the day with a fluid change on the transaxle.

5 pointsI unloaded my WH "tractor kit" this morning. All the while trying to put aside the parts being used in the next build.

5 pointsI used the C-160 to move a Chevy Impala. I traded the roller/junker for an Ahrends snowblower that is very lightly used to say the least. more like spotless. . The guy who picked up the car might get a car that starts with a GM 3.8 but that needs some electrical work, so a good trade for us both, He was very impressed that the C at idle just squatted in and grunted that car right into position with me walking along the side.We could not get the engine to go because the fuel line was rusted and puking fuel, but she still caught a bit. He was remarking about "grandma gear" when I actually had the tractor in high range or fourth gear. Then I showed him first gear and his jaw just dropped.. We did use a Blazer to pull it up the ramps.so i told him to find me anything with a small engine and wheels and i would love to tinker with it He was gonna scrap the snowblower that has 99 percent original paint inside the chute.. un belivable that the dealer waned that machine scrapped until you think about it. They want to sell the new ones that are not built nearly as heavy as this machine which is by comparison a 65 mustang that might hurt sales of the new models. I had it firing in 5 minutes and running with a dirty carb in ten

4 pointsMade a quick axle and got some tires and tossed them on the trailer @ebinmaine gave me the other night. Might be old but alot more solid then the 1 I have thank you!
-
4 pointsWe also move the clocks around for no good reason. When I was young I was told it was so we wouldn't have to walk to school in the dark, or something like that. Now kids get taken into school by parent driven Limo. Then I was told it was so farmers could work during daylight, now tractors can plow plant and harvest by GPS so they don't even look where they are going anymore. We should leave the damn clocks alone, im sure I worked far more hours for free than I ever got back when night shifts hit the time change.

4 pointsOld WheelHorse parts in the bed of a Chevy truck together with the opportunity for you guy's to meet Meeha our 4 legged friend and hanging out with like minded WH people, no better way to spend a late Winter day outside in the Great State of Maine. Oh, that woodstove and our hosts were awesome too.
-
4 pointsPicked it up at a local antique shop. Found a timer for it so I can get it to work. 👍
-
4 pointsNot a wheelhorse but did follow me home. Should look good in the shop if I get it built

3 pointsHi guys. Following on from the drilling square holes thread I filmed a short video of the Reuleaux triangle I made on the lathe. Purely an exercise in machining a complex shape to see if I could do it. Whenever I show the triangle to people they assume it will not roll because it is not round. But it confounds them as it does have a constant diameter.

3 pointsAre you talking about the piece of plastic that is looped over the terminals on the switch?? I have cut a new one out of a milk jug to replace a missing one.
-
3 pointsThe $124.08 is the reason they are still available. They might have sold them all at a reasonable price of $4.08.
-
3 pointsWow that really works well as a drag mat! Need to get me 1 of these for my driveway!

3 pointsI've been trying on differant shoes. Maybe the 7.00x16 on the back? What's everyone's thoughts. Not sold one the front ones yet.

3 pointsAfter lunch I decided to change the tires on the front of the 1974 C -120. Thought about tubes then I started on the $)((&^^$%# tires with the floor model HF tire machine . After more $%^&*()(&^%$$# , I went to my friend Mr sawzall , first tire came off with some effort. The second tire wanted to fight me tooth and nail. Had to cut the sucker in 2 places. Boy those steel cords were tough in both tires. Ending dulling 2 blades. Surprisingly just a little surface rust on the inside of both rims . Will start clean up inside and out with wire wheels this week.
-
3 pointsI'll try to fix this. It would be better in one thread and just add your pictures to it. There ya go!!! If you are going to restore it, I'll move this thread to Restorations. Let me know.

3 pointsSame as pigeon. No one will know the difference if you don't tell 'em. Some years back some locals used to have a crow pie supper for charity. Hand full of goody, goodies started to make a fuss and got it stopped. So now the crows/rooks still get shot but left to rot. Also nothing for local charities.

3 pointsWheel Horse 520H I pulled out the coil thoroughly cleaned and tested. The primary resistance is 3.5 Ohms. and the secondary reading is 17.70 M Ohms. Were good. The Ignition wires were another story. Does this tell you something? I have new Ignition wires ready to go. So ... While I'm waiting for parts: These engines run hot on the rear cylinder. I removed the access panel and punched 3 one inch holes in it to help with air circulation. This modification allows the hot air from the cylinder to easily escape. I added a fourth hole at the top after a test fit. I will go through the gage cluster and electrical contacts to insure everything works. I changed out all the fuses. I'm still chasing electrical gremlins. The tail lamps were not working. Just get a 40 watt iron and touch both sides of the socket with a little solder. Careful its plastic and rubber. Also I Re-swaged the rivets. Thats were you get your ground. Now ya know this is not right! The old Tach will never work again I just had to install the arm rests. A slight mod to make them work . Got a great price on line. I purchased this machine in good faith. The PO claimed the fluids were changed. Ya right! Never believe what they tell you. You know who you are! What a disgrace. You cant abuse a machine and expect it to give you good service. So far I got the oil changed, Air filter and Fuel Filter. New plugs and Ignition Wires.

3 pointsI have the Kohler generator. @Oldskool has a passel o "pahts". @OldWorkHorse Steve's wife Ariel has Patriot Horse. 2 separate deals. BTW Mike that generator weighs a measly 540 LBS by the paperwork you gave me.
-
3 pointsWe planted strawberries around the house today in the "flower bed" ground still really wet under the mulch, too early to till here maybe a couple more weeks yet, but I will try to get some photographic evidence of the big orange tiller in action.
-
3 pointsJust keep in mind, Kohler idle speed has very little ability for slinging the oil around. When there’s a load especially, at least 1/2 throttle is required for adequate lubrication.
-
3 pointsFinalize the mechanics for function. Rewire the Tracta. Except the choke bowden, to use it there is a lot more rework needed, so i decide to use just the throttle lever and let the choke lever unused for now. Than i remount the Beltcover, to see if it fit‘s. looking not too bad, few smaller issues must be solved but it works so far. Time for a Testride if all works as it should. a gently scratching can be heared, because of the idlerpulley is scratched a little on the Beltcover. while grinding down, i try to remove scratching parts. Beltcover gap now is ok about gap but must be rewelded. one seam reduces the gap too much, so i have to grind it down. I decide to keep it now as it is for the next Workrides. After that i will next time finalize the Beltcover and repaint it. The Engine itself performs nice and grunt even under load in a cool Deep pipe Sound. and at least it appears to be a little faster than before. So far - Engine Swap is successfully done except few cosmetic issues.

3 pointsIf you're only going to use this Ryobi, now and again, here and there, that should do. If you're trying to earn a living from your tools, that's a whole different animal.

3 pointsThat is what my wife's dad, grand dad, and brothers used. Snowmobile suits, too.

3 pointsIt was an interesting trip to say the least. I thought i would let my phone take me on the trip via google maps. Well not the wisest decision I ever made. Between dropped service and my phone up dating the map "recalculating " the shortest distance repeatedly the 4.25hr trip turned into about 6. Along with slippery road conditions. The wife and I had a chance to meet some great people. @ebinmaine, his significant other Trina, @JCM @Stepney, it was very nice to meet the faces behind the screen names. Eric gave me a great deal on a pile of parts. Enough to keep me busy for a while. I just want to say thank you and Trina again for the parts, the food, the hospitality and the chance to meet some members. After 16.5hrs we are beat. We all know, without a pic it didnt happen lol so here ya go.
-
3 pointsThought about some clean rock. Wrap it in a couple towels, put it in the dryer. Have to wait til my wifes gone though.
-
3 pointsEarlier today @Oldskool Mike and his Other Half drove down from Northern Maine to do some trading. Mike I'll let you tell about the journey.... @JCM Jim and @Stepney Spenser came to visit and meet Mike and his wife. He brought me a VERY cool old Kohler generator and some other things. We filled the back of his truck and some on the trailer from various places here. I'll be really looking forward to seeing what kind of Awesomeness these things turn into later.

3 pointsDid some spring clean up of winter duff. Cleaned out the bluebird boxes. Have to stand on the seat to reach this one. Tilled up some beds.

3 pointsOil change on the C105... Ready for summer kid hauling duties with the SL&WHN RR...! No word yet on whether the City will have a Memorial Day Parade (COVID ), but if so, the train will be full and in the parade!

2 pointsI took about a half dozen down like this last year after an ice storm. I tied a railroad spike to some paracord. Whipped the spike around until it had enough momentum to fly up and over. Passed the spike through a loop and cinched it down. Tied it off to the back of the 312 and drug it out.

2 pointsI'm not a farmer! Just married to one - which I suppose ends up being the same thing.....how did that happen?! We have a crow trap which is pretty effective, a bit like a fish trap the size of a shed with a conical entrance - can get a lot of crows in it.
-
2 pointsNow there's some words no sane farmer has ever put together. 😂😂😂 Too bad those crows can't be used for target practice....
