Was able to purchase my number two Rock 4x4 last week. Very cool tractor. Kinda small compared to the GT16 version. Here are a couple pics a video YouTube Video https://youtu.be/_Uo6XOrLqqc

Anyone have a sign of spring? I saw a large flock on Canada geese headed North this morning. Just walked by the kitchen window and saw this.

Had some parts on the paint drier. Used an old mule drive to make a front weight rack and plow stabilizer for the 312H. And a sliding seat mount for the new seat going on the 417H.

Ed, those are HORSES not GEESE!

I made a compilation video of my 1940 Farmall H. This was the first Saturday in February of this year, a few days before we got a couple of winter storms that drop 7 to 8 inches of snow and sub-zero weather. It was cool this day, but still a nice day for February. It's a bit long at 9 plus minutes with some boring segments of me driving it a fair distance from the camera. And it still has the small pony tank - I still haven't clean and seal the gas tank for it yet. The hood is just siting on it, and as you can tell, the tractor needs a good cleaning and paint.

I got the new Kemp stack put on the C-141. It sounds even better than it looks. Didn't take me long to realize, I had it too close to the hood and decals. It gets hot! It's now about 2 1/2" away. Is that far enough? Then I went on a road trip. I was driving down a gravel road, past a barn, and suddenly, This jumped on my trailer. I told my wife it was the darndest thing. I drove to the end of the road, turned around, drove back past the barn and threw out $150 as a It seems 100% original and 99% complete. The motor turn over by hand with no strange noises or clanks, so I am hopeful. Needs some TLC, but that's where the fun lies. All the tires were up, so I am assuming it hasn't sat there for decades anyway. Then, again while driving, I happened past a fellow members house, and this jumped in my truck. (I gotta get a new truck). A Kohler K, Size is yet to be determined, as the model/serial number plate is gone. It also spins over. I've had a busy day, and it looks like I have a few busy days ahead of me P.S. Don't forget my question. Is 2 1/2" far enough away from paint and decals for that muffler? Thanks Greg

I must be getting old. To me, 1990 is almost NEW!

I see you will be using a lightweight transmission. With all that metal that turned to rust it is bound to be a couple pounds less.

Personally given the heat sources that you have at your disposal. I would do radiant floor heat off from you outside wood boiler and install the Modine ceiling heater for fast recovery ( after you have to open the over head door ) We had this kind of a set up in a body shop that I worked at and it worked very well. The Modines only ever ran after opening the over head doors to bring a car in or out, other wise the radiant floor heat did the job. BTW with the radiant floor heat is great if you have to work under a vehical in the winter.

.Took the 857 around the block today. Then I changed out the winter air in my truck tires for some of this 60+ degree stuff we have.

These are mine I put together sometime ago, (I keep using this photo on here.) they are “Fish Plates,” “Flitch Plates”, used on trucks to attach the truck bed/body to the chassis. I have loads of them, 10mm thick with 16mm holes in them, they get used on many projects. I think each one weighs about 2kg. Bolted together with long M16 bolts, one of which hooks Into the front “Attach a Matic”. It does the job at the moment, but?????

Its a water heater....not a hot water heater !!! PULLSTART …..Got to keep those boys in line, why would you heat hot water???

Correction Dick. MikesRJ ran the site. And you are right, it has not been worth a hoot. There are a lot of folks who don't use Facebook for obvious reasons, but do check on websites for up to date info, if it's there.

I meant use the Is this unit for hot water Shed? Like a fan coil? I took it that way. If it is I would just run that to get things started. Still put the tubing in the floor tho. We have been known to (gently) throw the heat to it right away. There are two types of concrete ya know... concrete that isn't cracked and concrete that is gonna crack.

Great build idea @Shed! Even if you decide now’s not the time to heat with radiant, I’d suggest running the loops at least! Like @WHX24 said, you’ve got one shot to install that, can’t ever go back! He also said hot water heater. Nails on a chalkboard right there. If it was hot, it wouldn’t need heated! I agree that it’ll take quite a bit of energy to maintain the slab for hobby time use... but if you even kept the slab at 40 you’d notice a huge difference in comfort out there!

Try this... Can be welded or bolted together. Different thickness material ect.

Fabbed some dodad's for a 701 belt guard. Waiting to weld them on till mock up. 'Side's my new to me welder is not set up yet. Ordered the 40 dollar cart and 50 buck helmet from HF over a week ago and no show yet. Started sorting tranny cases to get the best ones.... why do I always get the nasty ones. No wonder @Achto threw this project in my lap!

PICTURE HEAVY Last weekend we took all the shrouds and tins off the exterior of the K582. Today's project was too repair our rolling work table. My maternal grandfather had it in workshop/barn since back when sand was boulders. Needed to tighten things up and replace a couple boards. We then got the big twin up on the table. I drained the oil and removed the oil filter. @pullstart here's some pics of the top of the engine. Please lemme know what else you need/want. Engine exterior outside pics pictures.

I bought a 416-8 from a guy that I bought our house from. I like the tractor a lot runs and cuts great. Used it a lot last year. That thing will climb up a wall. I was curious what one like this would be worth? I’m not super versed on wheelhorses and was just curious.

Got the cart today Billy....fits fine. Some assembly required. Helmet must be on the slow boat from China yet. The whole setup will be good enough for what little welding I do and the women I go out with! I'll do a thread in tools I get a little practice on it. You guys can critique my beads.

there is a horse farm about 13 miles from me that raises those draft horses, Orndorff's Belgian Farm. My old boss stopped there one day and ask to hunt, don't think they left him. He did say the old man gave him a tour and a bunch of info. He ask the guy who buys those horses now a days? The old guy said, best customers are Amish. Said, they are like teenagers in a chevy dealership! My ground is thawed but not planting a garden this year. Oh I did see a sign of spring. The neighbor has his bass boat out tuning it up. He is a fishing nut, always on top of the seasons.

I would cut the raised boss away enough to get a tubing wrench on the hex.

Yea, it's a swivel. I think I've found an offset thinwall crowsfoot that will work. I should have it tomorrow.

If your truck has a plastic bed liner like most do your tractor will probably loose traction once the wheels get onto it. At that point the tractor heads back down the ramp and a ramp comes off the truck and with any luck you can jump free of it as it tumbles to the ground. That was my experience years ago and I haven't driven one on or off a truck since. Our driveway is steep enough that I can back up to the steepest part and the ramps are nearly level with the truck bed. I back down to the ends of the ramp and then move the into the truck by turning one of the rear wheels while standing beside the ramp. Works like a charm!

I use a hand wind cable winch from harbor freight... I think it was $10... on my 5x8 utility trailer with a drop down ramp. Slow, steady, EASY and super safe. I’m done with unnecessary risk doing this kind of stuff...
  44. 4 points
The beauty of having a 8 speed is low range 1st gear it will creep up the ramps. That gives you plenty of time to do what have to do.
  45. 4 points
I NEVER ride the tractor up or down the ramps. As long as the tractor runs,I walk along side it ready to shut the key off.Standard shift,I use 1st gear low range.Hydro's,I just let the tractor crawl.Has worked pretty good for me........So far.I've got a tilt deck, double axle trailer that I'm putting a 9,000 pound Harbor Freight winch on once the snow melts off the trailer.Tired of hand come-alonging dead equipment on.Also have a decent, low mileage 1989 Ford F-600 cab and chassis that I've thought about building a ramp body for.Would make a super nice toy hauler.Problem is......I'm getting too old for most of this crap.

We've been doing something called hugelkultur since we moved in to this place about 6 years ago. Essentially mounds or raised beds built with a core of rotting wood. We routinely get sweet potatoes running 5-9lbs each. Beans, tomatoes, cucumbers etc produce as much as we can handle or more. The strawberry bed is insanely productive. The compost bin gets a yearly dose of horse manure as well as grass clippings and kitchen scraps. No fertilizer, no insecticide, just traps for Japanese beetles and squash bugs. Cardboard and grass clippings go down between beds to keep weeds choked out. Once that breaks down it leaves a nice layer of good, rich soil if we decide to move things around.
