I took a covid vaccine watch break and got some seat time on the 520 this afternoon. I moved the stacked snow that contains some stones back where it belongs. Should save some raking when the snow melts.

I am slightly offended, there is more real estate being wasted on that rooftop! Amateurs these days...

Thinkering of a new Torch, because my old is lost and i need ohne. After searching a little arround i found that Thing, promoted as a „cool flameless“ Solution. An Induction heater- first i doubt it will work for my needs, but than i think i can it send back so let‘s order it. so i bought it and today it arrives. while unboxing... a nice Aluminium case jumps out - nice. There are lot‘s of Parts inside. After opening this cool Alucase i have to do immediately a Test, that appears very impressive. Cool Tool

Broke ground on this years garden, ran the snot out of Hoss, fixed a fuel leak and charged up the 701 ‘ol smoky’, tried to work him but it’s too wet to disc, fired up ‘lawn duty’ 12(16)77 and lined em up for a pic.

Where is the challenge in using something light weight and easy to store? Real men use very heavy somewhat awkward equipment that requires a dedicated high horse power tractor and significant storage space for a job that takes about an hour a year...

Everyone needs a hydro lift eventually .....It just takes some folks longer to realize the fact.

That is just a overflow tractor, inside is full. Probably someone from RS! Maybe headed to the show? That hauling technique is close to one like Pullstart uses, wonder is he knows those folks?

I kinda like the wife and shovel idea, but ONLY if a helmet is worn. A less harmful way... 1) using a 1/2-5/8 sheet of 4x8 plywood, drill two 'drag holes' about 6" in from one end for a chain. 2)With dozer blade, push dirt pile onto plywood sheet. 3)drag said plywood with dirt to dump location 4)Push dirt off of plywood. I've done this many times and works well using my C-160 Auto and weights.

Here is a good process if you want to put it on a piece of wood. 1.Cut your wood out to desired size & sand the face surface, stain not varnish if you wish. 2. Use Elmer's glue to glue the decal down. (Yes good old Elmer's School glue) Let it dry. 3. Use a brush to coat the whole surface of the wood with Elmer's glue, right over the decal & all. Let it dry. 4. Use the 2 part pour on epoxy finish over the wood. The same stuff used for bar tops. You will end up with a great looking show piece!! Or if your still confused. Just bring the decal & piece of wood to me, I'll get it done for you.

A good friend of mine owns this machine. He picked it up last summer for a good deal with the mower deck and snow blower. He brought it in to change the oil and we ended up tearing it down quick and going through it mechanically and clean it up. I figured id share. We started pics after we started. But i will find a before pic.

I have a 86? 417A with the (louved?) Hood.. I figure I'll have room to store it inside my new shed and I'd like to clean it up this year as I have time. It's purpose is a back up mower / plow tractor. I'm going with the decals in the picture. I'm thinking of painting my wheel weights for it maybe flat or gloss? black and also painting all the rims black. Its not intended to be a show piece, but i plan on sand blasting / stripping all panels and easier accessible parts. I'll be using regal red as the color in a rattle can. I've read its a decent choice. I also bought 7/16-20x 1.5" bolts and nuts for the rear wheels so it'll be easier to take them off and put back on. I have them on my 416, and i love them. Thoughts?

Scott, its all good, it will be a few more weeks before I try out that new 3pt PTO driven tiller on the eMax, our sod is still semi-frozen and some snow still on the "grassy knoll", definitely more potatoes this round, corn, green beans, less tomatoes and cucumbers, maybe watermelon again.

Here's one that used to be at the WHCC Show now and then. I don't recall who owned it, but I think the brothers had a few modified tractors like an articulated and narrow front. This was from 2013. The articulated one is in the background. I found two more on the interweb . . .

My newest tool is a rebuilt table saw. Bearing died in the direct drive mechanism and was way too expensive to repair. Could almost buy a new table saw for the cost of the repair. I ended up with a great cast iron table and no motor or blade. Solved my problem by mounting my 30 year old worm drive skill saw to the underside of the table and it not works better and quieter than ever.

well it gets a little weird with the XI series as they have their own set of attachments which can be sparse depending on where you are - for instance in the last decade, i've seen maybe 5 or 6 XIs of any sort in my area for sale with more than just a single attachment - usually a blade or deck. personally, i think that is a bit optimistic, but, like Dennis, i'm not shopping for my "one and only" machine, so, you'll have to judge that for yourself. i'd also ask yourself - why an LXI? would a 520 serve your purposes just as well? if the answer is yes - what do they go for in your area, and, how much of a premium are you willing to pay for the newer machine (or liquid cooling, if that is your train of thought?) that said - if i were in your shoes at 1000 hours for those attachments, i'd probably be at ~2k-2500 (but i'm cheap, like dennis :D)

@WVHillbilly520H your ‘gardening bug’ thread last year went over big, hoping you’re ok with me getting a jump start on this years. That was a GREAT way for many of us to track progress and dates! After plowing in two loads of manure, leaves, shredded paper from work last fall, I broke ground today. It’s still pretty wet here due to the monsoon winter, but it’s time to get things in, so I turned it over in hopes of things drying out a bit quicker. Still too wet to disc but lots of sun forecasted here, so.... Hoss went to work for the first time after restoration and didn’t miss a beat! ‘Ol smoky’ the 701 got a battery charge, fuel leak fixed and went to disc duty but it’s a bit too wet for that.

This ancient valve lapping tool. Built by the Kunkel Tool Company, which according to the internet does not exist. Interesting reversing drive to it, works great. Pat. dates on it for 1897, 1903, and 1906.

I am thinking as you push the dirt, poo, what ever in the trailer is going to try to run away from you. You would have to have it locked down pretty good.

Save your money. I understand the WH wrenches can bend. Old deck blade hacksaw and a grinder and a bit of time and it will not bend and mine is several years old now.

Last time plowing with Poppy, it was running pretty iffy... then not at all. I cleaned and checked the gap on the points, degreased the front of the engine and cleaned up the filthy spark plug. We’re chug-a-luggin’ again! It’s a beautiful day for tractor rides before ALL the snow melts!
