Picked up this little 2000 Chevy half ton for a steal from our impound auction at work. Never have been a fan of V6 half ton trucks, but I figured it would make a good little beater farm truck and something to drive back and forth to work. I also do some storm spotting during severe weather season, but hate taking out good trucks out and getting them beat up, so it should work good for that too. I am also an avid radio operator, both on CB and Amateur Radio, as well as looking to get a GMRS license in the near future. One of the downfalls of this little single cab pickup was not having the room to mount all my radio equipment in an organized and convenient manner. I looked at the Jotto consoles, but when I saw the price I quickly ruled out that option. So I decided to build my own. It’s not perfect, but for building it with a circular saw and a hammer I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Still need to get the mounting brackets for the radios figured out, as well as all the wiring and antenna mounts.

I got very lucky. My uncle, who unfortunately passed away about 10 years ago, had a 1600 square-foot garage in the town near where I live. He used it to store and work on car projects. He had five daughters who didn’t have interest in the garage or the cars. They knew I had my “junk “stored in different places including a rental. They approached me about buying the garage and told me that if I would give each of them $2000 it would be mine. Even my wife knew what kind of deal that was and we jumped on it and haven’t looked back. It has two double car garage doors, a fairly large work area, electric, insulation, and heat. I’ll never be able to thank my cousins enough. I’m very happy with it and they seem happy that I got it. I really don’t have a picture of the entire place but here are a couple pictures that basically show what the front of the building looks like. I Caulked and painted everything when I got it to seal it up against the elements.

Hey everyone, Finally getting my new storage shed delivered next week! Pretty excited to move my stuff from the Harbor Freight "Portable garage" which is basically a big tent. It's lasted a few years and is starting to fall apart now. My plan is to put my 416H/417A and Jd170 w/bagger in it with my tool chest and 60 gallon compressor along with a large sand blast cabinet. Spring needs to come soon! It's about a 10x24 Amish built for a good price, and I have 100amp service from my old shed that I'll have to hook back up to this one. We are excited to use it this summer. What do others use?

Did some carburetor surgery. A friend of mine bought a 1267 and it had a china carb on it. Well it lasted a few hours for him and then gas started pouring out the air cleaner. If you tapped on the bowl it would be fine for a while but would start leaking again. Luckily the original Carter came with the tractor when he bought it, so he asked if I would be able to do anything with it. Here is ground zero on the original carb. An over night soak in Berrymans Chem dip cleaned it up real nice but there was a rather important part missing. The lever for the choke. Any one who knows me, knows that I like a challenge and like to fab my own parts. A small piece of scrap starts the repair. After making the hole oval and insuring that it was a tight/press fit on the shaft. A hole was added for the choke cable and a little shaping to make it look like something, I had my replacement part. After pressing the choke shaft on to my new part and peening the end of the shaft, I silver soldered the two parts together to ensure that the two parts would be one. The rebuilt Carter should last a lot longer than the China Carb did.

Yep IH Farm AL Cub and IH Cub Cadet same 12" wheel weight approximately 30-35# each and yes they fit just fine on the inside of WH wheels. Note if you have the 8.5" wide (520H) rear wheels and can find some elusive Massey Ferguson split weights you can bolt both sets on and hide them under the hub caps.

Guess we all have a different definition of reasonable price for seat. My butt isn't worth anything over about $75....

I recently bought a 12' x 16' shed for my back yard. My dad bought me the Kubota that use to belong to my grandfather, and it wouldn't fit in the small 8' x 10' shed i already had. No power (yet) as it is currently just used for storage. Just warning you now, it will fill up way faster than you think.

I had a Drill Doctor and had mixed results. Have not mastered sharpening by hand so I remembered back in my high school days Mr. Slifka our shop teacher would sharpen with a jig like this. So on I go and find a vintage Craftsman and with a few trial and error attempts I now have some very nice sharp drills. And yes the Doctor is gone.

Well the seat is on, its very comfortable. Slides forwards and backwards about 8 inches with the adjustment lever. Folds up nicely on the factory seat mount, and the back folds down on the seat. Very easy direct bolt on replacement. Hopefully it holds up well. Next on the list is a mount for my 2 new rear weights

New to me roller skates. Best 50 bucks ever spent. The Y.E.T.I. is getting mothballed for a few months. Till the Owls Head show. Then under the knife for all new hydraulic drive upgrades.

A little progress report from this weekend. Replaced the missing battery tray with one that I made to spec. The hood had some dents in it, some of which where in the area of the letters on the grill. This would be a very difficult place to do any body fill work so I spent a fair amount of time with a hammer, dolly and a sand bag working as many of the dents out as I could. Along with the hood repairs I went through the rest of the sheet metal filling in unwanted holes, cracks and other various damage. Cleaned up some of the parts that will not be getting sandblasted. Sprayed some paint on a few trinkets. All I have to show for now, hope to make more progress next weekend.

hello all I figured its time to show off the horses that I own and tell a little about my Frankenhorse. My first one was the C-175 auto with original series 1 kt17 bought it for $100 "running" , driving and mowing. Little did I know that it had a broken connecting rod on the front cylinder I found this out due to going over it and checking plugs found the front plug soaked in fuel, and when I removed the piston from the jug the crank had a narly nick in it that I could see. So after crawling all over this forum I found out that my best option was to go with wither a series 2 or swap to the classic k341. Later that week I found a guy not too far away from me selling one in good shape running with starter and carb that came off either a 416-8 or a c-160 and after some custom plates and stab link bushings as vibration pads tractor was operational again and the 42" SD deck that it wears got me hooked instantly on having a horse addiction. I used this tractor to cut 6 acres of land (4 separate properties) and it did it flawlessly could not get that motor to bog at all even in the heaviest grass i could get it into, in the pictures that are attached you'll find the tractor after the swap and right after a bath but other than that i haven't changed anything other than belts and fluids about a month after this project was completed I was looking to upgrade once again to the larger 500 series and i found a 520HC with only 648 hours on the clock it also had the 60" deck that was in fantastic shape stole the tractor for $800 then right before Christmas I found a 56" snow blade chains and blower with custom rear weight bracket all for $500. So to wrap this up I have the fever and I'm hoping to add a few more in the years to come gonna be cruising marketplace this spring. Looking to add to the herd.

Well I finally blew up th snow blower, right when I needed it. Only got half the snow removed. So now we get all this warm weather and everything is melting fast creating ice everywhere. That was a few days ago so yesterday I went and got a new 10 foot peice of Renolds chain, thankfully its made in England and not china land crap. Well it went together with out a hitch and figured since I had the Ol Beast, now named Aggie. I have Big Red and Aggie hehehe. So I couldnt stop there, I just had to do some tweeking. These darn single stage blowers dont really throw the snow and when in slush or wet snow forget it. So I found some 2 inch wide by 3/16" thick flat bar and made a lower scraper blade, drilled and bolted it into place, then I tweeked the auger. We wake me up and toss me into tomorrow, everything is slush and below that its3 inches of water. Ahhh the hell with it I say so out of the shop I go, reved Aggie up, mind you Aggie is just a 10 horse turning this single stage blower, I didnt take the pics Maw did, but heres the difference, 1st pick was just before blowing it up, the rest are from today. And Rock isnt the word, I dont know where mother nature lives but I know this much, I can send the slush snow ice or water right back to where she came from hahahahah. Ops all I can do is 2 pics sorry guys. The second pic is throwing super heavy wet slushy snow 25+ feet into the air.

Here too Kev although I do it more than I care to admit. Only for very very light work JA. So I was fabricating a plate to weld over the F plate on a tractor that is cracked so to drill the holes for tranny mounting I grabbed a bit that was questionable ... had a chip out of the cutting edge. Figured nothing to lose so try free handing it. Worked pretty good. Extra holes for filler weld @Achto...gonna let you burn this one till I get some practice on that new to me welder.

Cool tool! Does it use the side of the wheel instead of the face? I was taught that’s a big no-no... though I’ve been known to break a rule in the past...

All these attachments, you’re really going to appreciate attach-a-matic brackets. Even more so, you’d REALLY appreciate another tractor or three!

It’s alive!! Finally had a chance to work on it. Removed all the hanging wires and stuff not needed and found out it has a 1989 engine in it that apparently was a recoil engine converted to starter/generator. It has no external coil and a pushbutton stop on the points cover. Once the oil burnt off the muffler it doesn’t smoke a bit. Took it for a ride to check the mail and it passed the test. Thanks @scottbrucea for letting me adopt this machine. 👍

I hate to admit it but I have used the side of the wheel like a lot of you, and I know better. My only concern is that the the folks here realize that any time you do that it can have serious, unintended results Be safe and luck, JAinVA

I just went though the same on an Onan P218. It was the $15 voltage regulator. The test sequence in the manual is the way to go. It starts at the likeliest faults easiest to check and moves to the least likely. Skipping ahead may lead to the unnecessary cost and labor of replacing perfectly good parts. (FYI, there is a rectifier built into the voltage regulator.) Last note: DO NOT ever run the engine without a battery correctly connected. The regulator needs it and can be "toasted" quickly without it. This was a common trick on magneto tractors that also had starter/generators but is NOT ok on Onans or other alternator-equipped engines. Good luck.

Those weights are off an IH Farmall H I know because I have a pair that I took off my H. They fit nicely inside the rim edge of a WH 12" wheel. Two bolts will work fine.

I just like the look. Probably overkill. This one probably isn't the quality of some others, but it works well for m
  30. 4 points
Not that the stator can't go bad, but its usually highly unlikely, but on the other hand those voltage regulator/rectifiers are a common part that does bad, and not that expensive to replace, I have used these... https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Voltage-Regulator-Rectifier-For-Onan-Engines-P216-P218-P220-1911748-1912106-/174177362124?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292... So technically not a hard to replace or expensive option to try, but with a cheap multi-meter its not hard to diagnose a charging issue.

I have that same seat on my C-160 and it's awesome. I've had it prolly at least 10 years . Bolted right on if I recall. I mounted it on springs Best seat on my fleet!

Rule of thumb I tell people. Put genuine consideration into what you think you need. Double that. Then, triple that. Usually it'll come out about right. People think I'm trying to be funny when I say that and I am because that's what I do.... but the "funny thing" is that formula usually works out fairly well.

No worries @pullstart I've never had a blue one, never seen a factory one either. I've seen a couple re-paints, but no factory ones. I did see a recent one on FBM that had a greyish-blue plow / plow-frame on it, like an industrial machine color. Looked pretty nice. Whoever did the repaint did a good job.

Well, I bought the tractor! It's in another state, so a friend went and checked it out for me. It will be here next week! I'm excited to check it out, get it cleaned up and do some maintenance. Then, she'll get to work! I'm sure I'll be back with loads of questions, and I know this is the best place for answers! Please send any tips or tricks my way! I'm all ears.

If it's a hydro there is a 1/4" allen head drain plug on the bottom of the transmission. Jack up the front to get all the oil out. Use a Napa 1410 or Wix 5140 filter and about 4.5 qts. of Mobil 1 10w30 or 10w40. DO NOT USE A FRAM FILTER!

Was trying to figure out how to attach this hood ornament because one of the pegs was broke off. So I decided to do the silicone route. I put the ornament on the hood and outlined it with tape as close as I could to the edge. Then I put on the silicone!then it was just a matter of dropping the hood ornament in place and wait for at least six or eight hours and clean off the excess! Hope it works!
