11 pointsWell, most of you know that my Dad is fighting lung cancer right now. I’m here very little because I’m staying with him and have no cell or internet service. He has done well with his first round of chemo with the only side effect being him losing his hair. He starts round 2 tomorrow along with a solid three week round of radiation treatments tomorrow as well. I shaved his head for him last night as he has very little hair left. I then shaved my head while he Was in the show to show him a little support. I pretty much look like a cantaloupe with a face! @953 nut wanted me to share. Well here it is... Be good @WHX24 .............

9 pointsPulled this 79 C81 in the shop. Wanted to just get it running and tinker but as usual, it is out of control. The machine has pretty good bones, about the only major rust out was the bottom of the tower support area and i have a doner. The video was the start up on the engine, always a plus when they kick over and run good. I had suffered from "leg lightning" the last few years and finally tapped out last summer and scheduled my lumbar spinal fusion. Got the surgery in the first week of January 2021, doc said two weeks ago i could start tinkering a bit, and now back in the shop at least tinkering, 2/3 hours a day. Prior to the surgery I set up small things to do, post surgery, that would not cause injury. Threw the pic of the pinion units up just because they we on the table side by side and really shows how much more beefy that 8 pinion unit is by comparison. Just a little thread about the project don't know when i will finish it but I will post as it happens. I got a couple other projects that need to get done in the spring.

9 pointsIn her current state, pulled the fuel pump to clean her all up, pulled the factory carb (there was no saving it) I soaked it for 4 days and I couldn’t get the black tar out of the carb unfortunately. I ordered a replacement from Norm at I save tractors. Waiting for that to come in. I was also able to move the ignition switch from the self contained magnum to the dash on the tractor. I also ran all new fuel lines. One I get the carb I will drop a battery in and the new carb in and fire it up and get it moving around make sure everything works.

7 pointsNo way these photos are going to do it justice but here's a few pictures from about 15 minutes north of Portland Maine. 1/8 to 1/4" of ice on everything up there. Thousands of tiny little sparkles of all colors of the rainbow.

6 pointsShe sure is mean looking! the exhaust on the magnum 16 is 1 1/4” pipe versus the 1” you see on the magnum 12’s that I’m used to. Already spoke to kemp and he’s going to make me a muffler that has a 1 1/4” inlet.

6 pointsI'm not sure but I think your issue may be shown by comparing these two pics. Yours The one that Squonk posted. Notice the different position of the idle/tension pulleys?

6 pointsUpdate: Hoss got the near-final adjustments and assembly, got a bath and went home to his stable yesterday, where he will have lots of room to play and lots of work to do! Still need to get a lift cable on and install some lights, and sometime down the road a PTO setup. Once the weather breaks (not long down here in nc) I'll throw a coat of wax on, do a quick photo shoot, and call this thread complete! Sure has come a long way from photo 1 eh? haha

6 pointsNice pics tho ther Brian thanks for sharing. .. missus has got a pair of those gloves but she would rather see her old man suffer than sharing. ... so much for in sickness and health eh??? I suppose I could get my own.....

5 pointsSeems like a good deal to me but what do you guys think? I asked for more info on the pump. Two) 2 1/2 x 30 hydraulic cylinders , one) 2 1/2 x 24 cylinder $100 each . One two spool valve set $25. One hydraulic pump $50 or everything for $250.

5 pointsThis has been for sale for a few weeks. "Hasn't run in a few years, includes deck and snow plow." It's looks ridiculously clean, and doesn't look rattle-canned, all original. It has a newer RD deck too. You can see the reinforcing bar at the front of the deck which I believe was only on newer models. Seat is shot and steering wheel looks bent. It's a 12HP, so a C-121? $400. I'd be an idiot not to get it.
-
5 pointsMaybe Richmond should get a few of those . The city sure as heck never heard of a snow plow.

5 pointsGet out your welder and some piping and make up a triple intake. Put three, 8 horse carburetors on there and call it fantastic.

5 pointsPlayin arround a little with the new Snowblower for it‘s horse rework. Firstly i disassemble the whole Unit and put all parts aside. The new idler Pulley‘s arrives today. i wonder a little, why it moves so strong and think i found an answer.. that both sleeve bearings are not greased and not fit‘s well, so they be hard to remove. Could be an suspicious for the strong movement. than i measured things to see what happens. Things seems they may fit. i have few options to spread that Axles. They all be 20mm and i have and flange bearing and also few cm of round Steel or also a threaded rod, with 20mm diameter - check. Yap, Things fits snug together. with the Threaded rod i found in my spare, i be able to spread it up to over 90cm workwidth simply. longest threaded rod i have is 2m, so Material is enough here. The flanged bearings can be greased, what is good for later Service purposes, the main shaft is ballbearing supported, another benefit for a easy movement. So the ends can also be provided by Ballbearings instead of the sleeves - cool 😎 looks good to be a 2 Weekend‘s Project, but as you know, Evil is mostly in details. i thinkering also about a mount to Attach it to my Horse. Still have to wait for the Main pulley, what shall be here on Saturday - i hope. Things appears clear and i hope it can be built straight forward except the Mount. i just have to decide the Sheet metal, will i use Steel or 4 mm Aluminum. Actual i tend to Aluminum.

4 pointsHey guys, I recently sold my 48" walk behind exmark that I used to mow my 1.5 acres with. It needed some much needed love that I wasn't willing to put into it after owning it for 12 years. And I was tired of walking. So I figured it was time to build a mowing machine out of the wheel horse parts I have been accumulating for this very project. I had some criteria: 1. I knew I wanted at least a 300 series but preferred a 400 series. 2. I knew I wanted an automatic because I have a lot of twists and turns and enjoy "striping" my lawn and often times its challenging with a manual, I also wanted the power lift option. 3. I knew I wanted a kohler power plant, preferably a magnum 4. I knew I wanted a power bagger setup So I started gathering parts....First thing I found was a Magnum 16 engine that appeared to be in excellent shape, so I grabbed that. Then I found a Toro Wheel Horse 416xt with mint rims and tires, seat with cub holder, 42" mower deck in great shape with power bagger and "wheel horse" soft bag kit I was starting to gain momentum. Then I found a 416H without a seat, engine and wheels and tires so I scooped that up. Then started mashing them all together.

4 pointsThe crank was reground so I'm hoping it will be in balance still. Not much I can do about it now lol. Bottom end is all back together and done. Valves ready to be fitted in the morning and I will see where that gets me in relation to finishing off the rebuild. Mick

4 pointsI did that once on a 1973 Trimuph Spitfire to patch things together until the weather warmed up enough to fix it properly. Being a sports car, I went light weight and used a Coke can.

4 pointsDid some lifting and pouring footings this morning: I thought the floor was mostly dirt but I stuck the shovel in to discover there was raked concrete underneath. Swept the dirt away and poured the footing on top of the existing concrete. It ain't going nowhere... and these aren't bearing the full weight anyway, mainly supplemental supports. You can see the existing support just to the right of these. I'm only taking some weight off that one. It was in the 'wrong' place... Above this beam is a six foot wide opening between the kitchen and the dining room. That existing support pier is not under the 'point load', it's about two feet from that, where the new post is going, and just to the left of center in the six foot wide opening. The floor above this is visibly bowed 'up' from that pier pushing up. It probably won't go back down in my lifetime, but at least it won't get worse! (as it has since we added a second floor about 10 years ago... I know, I know, should have put the posts in then... ) That block is level and filled with concrete. Each footing is three 80lb bags, two in the form first, then the block, and the third inside the block and around it. I did put rebar in after the first bag, probably didn't need it, but it was 'in stock'. I used the 'Crack Resistant' concrete with the added fibers. These are some BEEFY support columns! 1/4" top and bottom plates, 4" diameter 11 gauge tube. AND the best part is I got 'em wholesale price which is like HALF retail! Schweet! To make these code compliant for PERMANENT installation one must encase the adjuster on the bottom in 3500 PSI concrete after tightening, which of course I will do (in a few months after everything 'settles' ).

4 pointsI have a single ram on mine and does not lack power. It will pick the front of the tractor up just off idle. To me, that is a killer deal. Before I bought my loader I priced it all out. Wanna say almost a grand just for the hydro stuff....

4 pointsLooks like we need to warm up this rock we live on. As it becomes clear the new green electricity production ,wind and solar, don't work when it's cold and cloudy.

4 pointsAll this nonsense about not needing a second WH... first stage in most any problems is denial. Second is acceptance I think. Go get it!

4 pointsDell, You are a great man and even better role model for your son! Prayers that the chemo kicks the cancer and your dad’s strength prevails through! We’ll hold the fort down here while you’re busy... you just take care of what’s really important! Love you guys, man! Shorts and Boots Power!

4 points, what's high temperature and seals to pieces of metal together, starts with a W... ... Sorry Eric I had too, they do make a muffler "joint" or patching compound I'm sure you had to have seen in your parts store days but it works about 50/50 if that.
-
4 pointsAny chance you were backing up into deep snow? Snow will get to the transmission pulley/belt and cause the belt to slip. Takes 1/2 a minute for the belt to regain traction. Garry

4 pointsGod bless you and your family. Show him all the love you have for him. I lost my sister eight months ago. I know she is in haven and is in a better place. I will pray for him and your family.

4 pointsJust got a few covers and the fuel tank to finish and then all should be complete! Wired the tractor and did a bunch of odd litle parts today. Basically back to 100%!!!

4 pointsI see you trimmed the beard also. When you told me you shaved your head I was picturing a melon with a foot long beard. Will continue to pray for your father's recovery.

4 pointsOnce we have been forced to convert to all electric vehicles and everyone is charging them up at the same time it will aggravate the problem even more.
