14 pointsWell, most of you know that my Dad is fighting lung cancer right now. I’m here very little because I’m staying with him and have no cell or internet service. He has done well with his first round of chemo with the only side effect being him losing his hair. He starts round 2 tomorrow along with a solid three week round of radiation treatments tomorrow as well. I shaved his head for him last night as he has very little hair left. I then shaved my head while he Was in the show to show him a little support. I pretty much look like a cantaloupe with a face! @953 nut wanted me to share. Well here it is... Be good @WHX24 .............

9 pointsIt would be foolish to be out in sub zero weather without gloves. Although I actually do know people that do it and don't have an issue. This guy is not one of them. After dealing with my cold fingers, I opted for the mitten route like Kevin. Yes they are clumsy but at least they are warm.

9 pointsPaul I used those for the very first time last night on my 6:30 clearing. My wife Ruth has been after me to try these for years. My finger tips were so cold after the first 45 minutes of snow moving at 2:30 that I was complying I had pre frostbite. Ruth slipped two of those in my gloves to wear on the palm side and I had warm hands all the time I plowed last night. I will have to go out again this am at daylight but I can use the same hand warmers from last night. If you store the used one still warm in a sealed ziploc they can retain their heat properties. pics from the 6:30 pm run at about 12 degrees.

8 pointsI see you trimmed the beard also. When you told me you shaved your head I was picturing a melon with a foot long beard. Will continue to pray for your father's recovery.
-
8 pointsI cut mine like that once a week and did so tonight. After reading this Im in solidarity with you too.! Praying for Dad.

8 pointsShowed these picture to my wife this morning, she just shook her head and said and people wonder why so many move down here when they retire. Ya'll stay put and stay safe, when I say stay put I mean stay put we're full in Florida .
-
8 pointsWell boys, it seems like it was a bit windy last night
-
7 pointsHere's ole red awesome new exhaust hope you guys like it can't post or start topic because of some voting thing
-
7 pointsI could send some hydro power Jim. We ship by rail or barge.
-
7 pointsWe dodged this one. It rained most of the night and left about 1/4" of ice. I see some dead limbs came down from the maple trees, but no damage to the fruit trees. The rain didn't really melt the snow stacks....just soaked in and turned them into solid stacks of ice. Looks like I'll be in the center of tomorrow nights storm.
-
7 pointsI had a customer bring in a Harley one spring that would not turn over. After removing the head I discovered that mice had dragged dog food up his exhaust pipe and neatly stored it in one of his cylinders. One more reason why strait pipes can be hard on an engine.

7 pointsSo I had to go into work early today, and it was snowing. About mid morning during a conference call, my Ring notification kept going off. When I had a moment to look, I was pleasantly surprised to see my wife plowing the driveway on the 312-8. I was able to snap this screen shot with my phone. Of course it started snowing again shortly after this pic and hasn't stopped since, but I am thankful for the work that she put in. I guess now I'll have to share snow plowing seat time as I do the grass cutting seat time.

6 points9/16" combo wrench in the lifter valley of a 396. I was wondering what happened to that wrench! I had to apologize to my friend for accusing him of running off with it! (I still have one of his wrenches, we were always doing that to each other)

6 pointsCoincidentally the lady was driving up to get her granddaughter! She didn’t know how to pull someone out, she’s about 65-70. Perfect time to learn, shy of almost pulling me over the mailbox!

6 pointsSupposed to get 8-12. My old employer closed last night for Tues. because of what was coming. We got maybe 4" with some ice. Bet they never close again! Nice hat @Lane Ranger!

6 pointsSunday night to Monday morning I had about 3-4” of dry fluffy snow on top of the ice we had Friday. It was 9F this morning. I’ve never seen that low a temp here in 50 years. Two of the grandsons are staying with us They were dying to go out in the snow. We bundled up and they lasted about 10 minutes. It was 15f with a 10mph N wind The Texas power grid has been hit hard by this record cold. Of its 80,000MW capacity about 34,000 MW’s went off line today. About 50% (5000MW’s) of the states 10,000MW’s of wind went off line due to blade icing and other causes Several gas and coal plants and a nuclear unit tripped due to various causes. About 20,000 MW’s of natural gas generation were curtailed due to gas supply issues such as pipe line icing and supply directed to home heating priority. Solar was also down about 30% below daily forecast. This storm is a good example why we need a mix of all forms of electric power. The grid operator has used rolling blackouts to keep the grid from crashing. We were without power sometime during the night, then from 11am to 3pm and the power just went out at 10 pm. I’ve been using my fireplace for supplemental heat. We bundled up and warm for the night. Interesting times. My C-160 would not start this morning at 18f in the garage. I have a block heater but it’s on the boat.
-
6 pointsEnjoy the seat time and be safe @Lane Ranger. Go in and warm up several times if you need to, the snow will wait. I pushed it too long one plowing last week and had to deal with extreme finger pain for what seemed like an eternity. It was only about a half hour till they thawed out & the pain stopped but it felt like a lot longer. Starting tomorrow we are finally going to start getting temps in the double digits above zero. Will be a welcome change from double digits below zero at night and maybe a high barely above zero during the day.

5 pointsHere's ole red new exhaust hope you guys like it it so awesome feel free to post pics of your tractors I will have more questions how do you like the name ole red
-
5 pointsI hope your Dad has success with his treatments . I know it is trying time for you and your family. I will keep you in my thoughts.

5 pointsHoss came home from the shop today, back where he belongs.
-
5 pointsHere is manual for 6-0202. it is a tach matic compatible blower so it should fit your tractor . Do you have the idler pulleys hooked correctly. Picture in manual is hard to see it should look like my pictures
-
5 pointsNot us Chris, we left. Picked up about 8" overnight. It was pretty light and fun to plow. I did use the 76 blower tractor on some of it but I haven't put the new rubber chains I ordered after the last storm on it yet. It also needs more weight. I have wheel weights but my scrawny butt doesn't help much. I have a weight box plugged into the receiver hitch on the 05 plow tractor and thought how easy it would be if I could just plug it into the 76 if needed. I just ordered another hitch from Lowell. I love those things. It amazes me how fast the blacktop drive clears up once a little sun hits it. Even at 19°

5 pointsBut... but... Al Gore’s inner web said only 6 were made...!?? It’s on the googley inner web so it must... gotta be... true... right?!?!?!

5 pointsHad a KT17 that I got cheap because the PO couldnt figure why it wouldnt run, -- he sez, I pulled the plugs and it had no spark and now it wont turn over!" I'm just tired of fooling with it. $100 and I took it home, first thing I did was to get the heads off ---- well, well, no wonder it wouldnt turn over, there was a good sized Dirt Dauber wasp house on top of a piston (he'd left the plugs out) Cleaned the dirt house out and with a new coil, it ran rather nicely. Guess the moral here is dont leave your plugs out......
-
5 pointsMoved the last of the URI snow from overnight this am! The old B-80 did a great job moving tons of this crazy white stuff! Had to get another quilt out last night on the bed! About 6 to 8 degrees outside! FullSizeRender.mov IMG_0281.MOV

5 pointsThe rabbits took advantage of a snow bank near a fruit tree at Grandma and Grandpa’s... grabbed a snack from the top where they can’t normally reach!

5 pointsCleaned upwards of 3 inches of ice off the hood of my truck this morning. Clean the driveway yesterday evening and an hour later we had another inch of sleet on top. Work closed for yesterday and today.
-
5 pointsOk I haven't even had breakfast yet. You're starting to make me look bad! (If that's even possible!) You can thank me for keeping the snow away with my heating the garage over night and putting the blower in front!
-
5 pointsWe got maybe 3-4" of snow, and 3/4-1" of ice on top, and it's 30 degrees. Got the walkways shoveled out, warm up a bit, and then back out to plow. Far cry from the 8-12" they were calling for, but I'm not going to complain about that.
-
5 pointsHey y’all! If the cold is getting you down, here’s the forecast for Okeechobee, FL! There’s a nice camper for rent down there!
-
5 pointsI have a couple pair of leather mittens lined with wool. Mittens allow your fingers to be in the same airspace as your palms and stay warm much longer! I have to admit, working with mittens on a loader tractor in the dark is a bit of a challenge in itself, but easy to deal with while staying warm!
-
5 pointsFor best results you should remove the muffler, sand/bead blast it clean and then use the 2000 degree primer and 2000 degree paint following the instructions on the can. The most important thing is to bake the paint onto the muffler. Bake at 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes and allow 30 minutes to cool. Bake at 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes and allow 30 minutes to cool. Bake at 600°F (315°C) for 30 minutes and then allow 30 minutes to cool. Caution: Be sure not to exceed the heat tolerance of the least heat tolerant part. If you fear that the wife would kill you the alternative process would be to follow these steps. Run the vehicle at idle for 10 minutes and then allow 20 minutes to cool. Run vehicle at idle for 20 minutes, then let cool for 20 minutes. Run vehicle at normal operating conditions for 30 minutes, then allow vehicle to cool.

5 pointsWe got hammered pretty good. I shoveled the deck off at 9:30 last night! Now the lowest part of the drift is about 6” deep... and it goes up to about 2’! There’s a wicked drift in the driveway, yet it’s too dark for a good picture. Time to go start the Cadillac!
-
5 pointsYup... Gotta slow these wild Horses down a bit...

5 pointsYou need help with your John Deere? I’m busy on RedSquare, by try the neighbors. I bet durable to help ya!

5 pointsThat there is a piece of steel 60" long, 4" wide and 1/2" thick. I saw the recommendation on this site somewhere awhile back and put it in my jungle site "save for later". After I drill 6(?) Holes it'll be the lower cutting edge for the 61" plow I got from @wallfish. I'll also be adding a reinforcing bar of some sort across the top. Beast plow!
-
5 pointsI hear that Dan. When I was outside replacing the drive belt on the 312, I got to that painful point. I know it's so tempting to put the hands under warm water, but that makes the pain worse. Best to hold them under cold water and slowly change to warm.

4 pointsPlayin arround a little with the new Snowblower for it‘s horse rework. Firstly i disassemble the whole Unit and put all parts aside. The new idler Pulley‘s arrives today. i wonder a little, why it moves so strong and think i found an answer.. that both sleeve bearings are not greased and not fit‘s well, so they be hard to remove. Could be an suspicious for the strong movement. than i measured things to see what happens. Things seems they may fit. i have few options to spread that Axles. They all be 20mm and i have and flange bearing and also few cm of round Steel or also a threaded rod, with 20mm diameter - check. Yap, Things fits snug together. with the Threaded rod i found in my spare, i be able to spread it up to over 90cm workwidth simply. longest threaded rod i have is 2m, so Material is enough here. The flanged bearings can be greased, what is good for later Service purposes, the main shaft is ballbearing supported, another benefit for a easy movement. So the ends can also be provided by Ballbearings instead of the sleeves - cool 😎 looks good to be a 2 Weekend‘s Project, but as you know, Evil is mostly in details. i thinkering also about a mount to Attach it to my Horse. Still have to wait for the Main pulley, what shall be here on Saturday - i hope. Things appears clear and i hope it can be built straight forward except the Mount. i just have to decide the Sheet metal, will i use Steel or 4 mm Aluminum. Actual i tend to Aluminum.

4 pointsThe sprockets are on. I'll finish up after plowing this 3in of slush off the driveway.

4 pointsI'm not so sure Jeff. When I look back at my childhood, I sometimes wish my kids and grandkids would have had the opportunity to experience some of the time I spent in the fields, woods and coal mines of the Appalachian Mts. My Dad ran a sawmill near Ft. Ashby WVa. My Granddad had three hand dug mines open on his 25 acre hog farm which is where I was raised. And as Loretta sang, my mother was a "Coal Miners Daughter". This is my Granddad holding My mother. Me on BOB....one of the ponies we used to pull the coal from the mines and to work the fields. Right to Left. Me, Uncle Sonny, Sisters Lois and Elsie. Yeah, it was lean times, but I cherish every memory as I know you also do.

4 pointsSo heres some pics and a update. Got the motor all cleaned up and maintenance done that was needed. Installed mptor and clened carb. Will put the battery box, wiring and carb on next. I used engine tins from a parts machine and the hood from a parts machine. The hood was completely black underneath. Forgot to get a b4 pic and it also has a few little cracks and dings and 2 holes in the hood that someone drilled. But all of that is about to be repaired with some gorilla glue and clear resin. I have some real nice chrome hood pins from a parts donor and the hood stop has been cleared and heat guard has been repainted. And i also painted the letters on the tires. I know not everyone is a fan of that, but i like it so i went ahead and painted the tire brand, size and traction arrow on all 4 tires.
