Mason is having fun testing out the plow. He doesn’t weigh enough to get traction. We need to get some wheel weights.

Just got in from removing 6 plus in. snow from driveway and was thinking what other things I have that have lasted this long. Mine is a 1979 WH C-101 with front plow bought new the year my daughter was born , estimated hours on this machine are at least 2000 and all original. In 42 years only replaced drive belt, regulator, points condenser once and of course spark plug and plenty of oil and grease. I once replaced the bushing in the carb, throttle shaft too. I believe regular maintenance, is the biggest factor. Just remembered one other thing that has lasted, wife of 46 years, a lot more maintenance tied up in her but worth it. Picture is me and my daughter several years ago both still going.

Shot a video today clearing the remnants of Orlena. Storm has moved east, but we still have some lake effect snow coming down. This was the 2nd time clearing the entire driveway and the 3rd time clearing the pass just to the left of my truck. This storm spans a huge part of the U.S. Let's see your pics / vids.

Yer a Mike.... Very easy to do. So easy even a Squonk can do it. Hardest part is taking the tins off and putiing them back on. Like Ed said de-carbon as long as your there and glass the head. This might help. headgasket.pdf

First seat time with a snowplow in almost 3 years. It was great!

I recently began pondering what all i could 3d print to dress up a horse. I'm pretty good with deaign sofware and came up with a couple small items to start, and figured i can easily print things like headlight covers, hood ornaments, and badges of all sorts.Then I wondered if maybe rather than a decal if i 3d printed an embossed plate or sorts with the appropriate graphics in 3d. These could be enamel painted, or printed in a silver that would give a brushed nickel type of finish. Here's a couple photos of what ive created thus far in some gray test material. Please let me know what ya think.

Nope. Your time was not wasted, just spent acquiring some knowledge, and supplying some wisdom to the rest of us.

Turf tires and chains would probably help, too.

Not hard at all if you don't break a head bolt during removal. There are many threads on here with video describing the techniques used to clean remove the carbon of the head, block, valves, and piston. Download the manual for your engine where you will find the head bolt torque specs and tightening sequence. When I remove a head, I use the torque sequence in reverse and only loosen each bolt 1/8 of a turn until they are all loose. I never had one break.

Quick clean and paint, not a restoration.

How do you guys deal with the snow that sticks to the front? Just get out and wipe it off? Last snow the wind was terrible and I would have had to get out every five minutes. Fact so bad I had to switch tractors. @dclarke had a glass front with a wiper on the tractor I bought from him.

I have had a boxed NOS snow cab for 4 years here in the UK. It’s says fits 300/400/500 - but no official Toro branding. Or any that I can see. I don’t want to unpack it all. Anyone recognise the brand/type from these pictures?

Awesome stuff, Bob! Chains did wonders pushing snow with Thirty Five! I of course have a couple pounds on him, but the chains still helped.

The ole list is getting shorter and shorter. Any thoughts on paint for a fuel tank. Something that wont get washed off on the first spill.

Will give that a try Jeff.... It was 50deg in the cab and melted on the outside, @Ed Kennell knows, but then when I shut it down to watch the missus hand shovel it refroze.

Also switch to LED Lamps to reduce wattage

I bought a horse from @bizon She needs some love , But the bagger caught my attention. It's partially homemade, partially WH oem. It's driving by the PTO, i don't know if that is stock, as it asks quite a lot of power. The blower housing is WH, but the bag, or trash can, is our local standard trash can. So she can put on the street right after from the lawn. It's also mounted on the transmission, seems to be quite some weight for hanging only on the transmission. (not mounted on the pic)

Per previous discussions, looking at this picture, it seems 4 car tire dollies like these may be the ticket for moving it around the shop. Screws just set on the dollies... Something like this: Just a thought...

Alrighty! Looks like ya'll like the gap! Either way the deeper portion is all one piece. Overall im trying to think two ways...fancy...for those who want that extra wow, and classic for the purist who want it as close to the original as possible.Either way, its easy ,once I have a model, to adjust the details to suit.

@Tractorhead I mentioned once that I was a coil winding machine. That's not true of course. Nor do I have a coil winding machine, at least I didn't, until now. This is the kind of thing that happens when yo don't have any tractors or motors to work on. There are more features planned, but I am waiting on parts. I don't know how many windings there are. I am waiting on a counter. Some finished coils. To see it in action, click here By turning the thumb knob you can slide the wire feed block, back and forth, as needed. The motor is turning about 4 RPM. I have to stop occasionally to slide wires into place with my plastic putty knife. Are they perfect? No, bit it's a lot more fun. To quote one of the great minds of this century, "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested"

One more thing to check - Is your battery at full charge? I low battery may allow the solenoid to close but there may not be enough juice to turn the engine over.

Busy day today. Martial arts training. General putterin'. Cleaned out the chicken coop. Moved about 10 or 12 loads of wood with the pulk sled. Cut down 3 big trees and at least a dozen small ones. Some in prep for next year's firewood. Some for the clearing out of the back yard. Cleaned up the yard of various items we don't want snow buried. Moved the Charger hydro project to the shed. Might get back to it in a week or three. Or summer..... Both Pigpen 867 and Cinnamon Horse C160 refused to go. Charged them. Gassed up both and the snowblower. 867 is running and happy. Cinnamon will get a new wire and plug tommorow.

Great work Bryce!! I dabble with wood burning also. I make these signs to put in front of my tractors when I am at a show. I try to make them look like the grill of the tractor that they belong to. My free hand ain't what it used to be, so I do some trace over myself.

Thanks Pete. he was having a great time. We didn’t get any snow last year and he’s been talking about using the plow since we saw the forecast. The recoil broke this morning and he was disappointed thinking that he wouldn’t be able to try it out. Luckily i have a spare 4hp and was able to fix it. He helped me replace It and he was so excited to see it fire up.

Mason is 10. Our kids are a good age. They have fun clearing snow. I like watching them work from inside the house too lol.

I never knew "car skates" existed until recently. Got a similar set of 4 rated for 2,000 lb each for $50 off CL when I realized what a pain it would be to move inoperable tractors around! Was gonna try to adapt moving dollies but these are much better. Mine have steel wheels so they need a pretty smooth surface (concrete or asphalt) to roll on.

Have you tried Rain-X spray on the windows? My OCC one as about shot starting to yellow and get brittle but Rain-X did help the one time I used it, but in the end yes get out and wipe and go on, maybe a cheap 12V electric defroster might help? Now the new Berco cab started out sticking but as soon as the engine heat came in it ran right off , the clear vinyl on it is more pliable like a Jeep soft top.

Something like that in the garage would be just the ticket.

Finally plowed with my 310-8 and man does it push. Waxed the blade and it did a great job. Need to work on a better pattern for plowing to make it more efficient (driveway has a circle and 3 legs) but the tool more than did the job.

I'm a little late here. I will never install a new water heater without first removing the anode rod and re-installing it with Teflon tape and not make it so tight. After fighting anodes with a 3/4" impact wrench it must be a cruel joke from the factory. You should have clearance above the water heater for anode replacement, if not possible use the hot dog string type. I know, almost everybody ignores this maintenance and many never heard of it.

I inherited my Dads tractor. It is the tractor i learned how to drive. Beforehe died from mean stupid covid, he had had it restored. Hiwever after using it for a few light storms here in the Berkshires, i noticed black spit coming from the casing where the pull thing is. So, i need to know: How do i fill oil..cant find it Is this spit oil or transmission (3 speed) Can i get an owners manual Its been in my family at least since 1963 the year I was born. I am pretty sure he didnt buy it new. Serial No. 357526 Spec No. 27107D Model No. 90 T Any help is very much appreciated! I love my little red tractor and wish to use it often.

Coffee! Surely we should also include TEA the drink of choice for us English chaps lol. But I did just buy one of these new fangled coffee machines advertised by your lovely Mr.Clooney on TV. I know, I know its not proper coffee if it wasn't brewed in a tin pot over a lightly burning cowboy or some such. But for a non coffee dumpling like me it works. Only trouble is the choice of coffees. I got 100 free capsules with it and so about 15 different flavours, strengths and sizes of cup. From Espresso to Alto we have our own coffee shop lol. Sorry I'm not a purist but as a life long tea drinker I don't think its too bad. Mick

I GOT IT!! Nothing like obsessing on something so bad you miss the obvious. I swapped out to a heavier cable with a heavier casing. Shorter even, and problem solved. Well that was alot of wasted time jeez.

Finished up a little bit of work on the 854 that I planned on doing last year at this time; powder coated all 4 wheels, cleaned and detailed all 4 original like new tires, repaired and refinished the seat pan and add a fresh cover, repaired and did a "quickie" paint job on the butchered up hood (old light holes and missing mount tab at the bottom) and belt cover(hole worn thru the bottom) , added some fresh decals, and replaced the drive belt with a vintage but fresh NOS 9691. This machine unfortunately had a quickie spray can paint job at least 30 years ago and doesn't even come close to matching the original untouched red hiding under the hood and other areas. It's good enough for now so I can play with it a little bit before it gets a full nut and bolt restoration in about 2 years.
