8 points11$ from fleabay. It's set up without drilling any new holes and wired in without changing anything. I can unplug it and plug the hot wire back into the original bullet connector for the OEM lights. I did run a separate ground wire to the frame. The OEM lights still work, was waiting for the 1156 LED's to come in the mail that I ordered 3 weeks ago. It is 18watts and seems plenty bright enough to plow snow at night.

8 pointsI have a couple Kohler rebuilds to test and I had several used engines to test as well. I wanted to test the used engines without dealing with nasty fuel systems and sketchy wiring. This stand uses mostly all Wheel Horse parts. An overturned 35 gallon plastic trash can protects the fuel tank, battery and control panel if this is left out in the weather.

8 pointsMore and more intrigued as I see these 'power steering pump' posts. Certainly miss the hydro lift on the 520 when it comes to a yanking up a plow or disc harrow loaded with concrete blocks. Theres actually a chance of a decent snow here in NC Friday, so I dragged the blade out and began 'rebuilding' and mocking up to fit Hoss. No pretty restoration here, it will be 'function before style' and get a quick scuff and shot of whatever red I find laying around once its done. Never messed with a plow/dozer whatever blade, but the angle adjust arm and link were missing and the mount for it was torn off/broken. It its original spot it would appear one would really have to reach to grab that arm- is that how they were? Regardless, it wont be on this one- relocated the new mount further back and put a small 'kick' in the arm. Required putting a bit more bend on the PTO engage lever but otherwise clears the machine and my leg nicely throughout its travel range. Now that I hustle to finish this, it wont snow......

7 pointsI don't get it either - we live in a throwaway world. I saw this 1979 C81 roller on CL a few years back, being sold locally by a scrap and salvage facility - it was $ 100 or best reasonable offer. So, since I was going to a scrap yard anyway, I loaded up the truck with old struts, brake rotors, and a dead water heater. The tractor clearly had low hours and the PO removed the Kohler K181 and sold the rest. I was interested in it for the 8 speed axle - it shifted fine including Hi and Low, the gear oil was exceptionally clean and full and no seal leaks. I managed to haggle the price down to $75 dollars plus sales tax - the scrap I brought was worth $41, the final cost of the C81 was $38 and change. That Axle is now in the 854 8 speed ....... Bill

6 pointsStarted a basement framing project for some friends of mine. They want the finished basement to have a spacious family room and a functional office... The existing space was poorly framed, finished with OSB, and was not laid out well. So...the first task at hand was to remove the old stuff. Once I started getting things opened up, the plan of attack became much clearer. Today...framing perimeter walls and start with interior walls. Last night, I went to my cousin Paul’s and helped him work on his 1980 T/A “Bandit”. We began gutting the interior and running a battery relocation kit to the trunk. Judge (my 10 year old) came along to get in the action and now wants a second gen for himself. Maybe in a few years buddy! I located the factory build sheet stuffed in the backside of the rear seat cushion. That was a neat discovery. The car was originally sent to Pueblo, CO and was manufactured in the Van Nuys, CA plant. Paul purchased the car in 1999 in San Diego when he was stationed there with the 3rd fleet. Overall the car is in good condition and I’m looking forward to cruising with him this summer!👍🏻

6 pointswoke up this morning and what do i see, yap SNOW... yeeehaaaa - Let‘s have some seattime.. Dang still no Rim‘s, ok so let‘s have the ride with the 212 Horse. While plowing i found the Angle could be a bit sharper. So fireup the Welder and weld another Nut aside on the mount, to get a better Angle of the Plowshield. - and again a Testride.. Much better ! while i’m in test, i plowed the whole Valley. 😎 Neighbours apprecciate that 😂 They meant i‘m a nice guy, nobody told them i wanna just Play.. But it‘s a Win Win situation on both sides. Time for a Coffee

6 pointsI don't know if my honey loves me or my tractor more. She went out today for her dollar store fix and came home with a few goodies for me and my machine. This is one of them! She was so happy to find it in red! She hopes it keeps my hands warm when I'm out plowing. I asked her if they had any black and red dingle balls, or fuzzy dice. She said; "But you don't have a rear view mirror!" Uh-oh, I hope they don't have rear view mirrors at the dollar store!

5 pointsI tool a load of construction trash to the Garbage Transfer Facility a few weeks ago. This was on the trailer in front of me. it looked almost mew. I ask the guy if I could have it before he dumped it. he said it worked intermittently. Checked it out and it needed a forward/reverse switch. I found the exact one for $7 on Amazon and it works great. Grandkids love it kent driving cat loader.html This was at thee scrap metal yard when I went a few weeks ago. But it was a little, but just a tiny bit, to big for my 4x8 trailer. Hey @ebinmaine could you pick this up for me

5 pointsGot a hefty package in the mail today, new hydraulic pump, foot mount, inlet hose, fittings, and pulley for the charger 12. Will take some time this weekend to mock up the mount amd hopefully have it operational with the new pump sometime next week. This pump is quite a bit larger than the other one, and should pump around 5 gpm plus or minus.

4 pointsThe view this morning out our back door of the bodyshop overlooking our scrap yard. It's in the right place (scrap yard) but I will be able to save a few pieces off of it and the price was right

4 pointsNo "screwin" around today. Finished the welding and grinding on the tank. Also cut, bent.twisted and tacked on all 36 pieces of the main screw. Only 4 end pieces to make tomorrow and then onto about 70ft of welding.

4 pointsThe fuel pump on the 16 Auto was leaking, so l took it off and tore it apart. All the diaphragms looked to be in good shape so back together it went. Reinstalled with new fuel lines, ran it for awhile to check for leaks and seems like I'm good to go. So I don't know what the problem was but it doesn't leak. And that's all I have to say about that

4 pointsDon't feel bad Jim! I never made it through gynecology school, but I've always been willing to take a look.

4 pointsWasn't sure where to post this, so I ended up here. It's about engine parts, so I guess it fits. I didn't have much to do today, so I was watching some you tube. Taryl has a video, on how to look up parts. So I looked up my K161, 8hp, spec #281271 motor, just for curiosity. It's no wonder there are so many knock-off carbs out there. A new carb for my motor, from Kohler, (are you sitting down), $409.38. Holly 4 BL with electric choke, $359.95. Somethings wrong here me thinks.

4 pointsFound out the other day, my uncle needs to have a minor surgery because after breaking his ankle, he actually does have a screw loose! better slap some lock-tite on those drums somewhere so they stay in line!

4 pointsAs some of you may already know my blue Chevy 3/4 ton has been down since September with a blown head gasket. Has been on the back of my mind to fix it since then, but since we bought the 99 Suburban from my parents it had kind of gotten pushed to the back of the priority list. That is until the day after Christmas when we were headed to town after oil/filter for the M, when the Suburban decided to start knocking out of the blue. We limped it back to the house but something is definitely seriously wrong inside. So it’s out on dead row now until we can afford to put a new engine in it. That pushed old blue back to the top of the list as I was left without a vehicle to drive to work every day. Ordered these gaskets Sunday night, with my luck in shipping times lately was expecting at least a weeks wait if not longer. So was really surprised when I came home to find this box on my porch this evening. Hoping to tear into her this weekend.

4 pointsI know this sounds like sacrilege, but when I needed new tires I took them off the tractor. Drove to the tire store and had them mount new tires. No tire changer, no hassles, no leaks and no hassles.

4 pointsYes. The pump case will be pointed away from the engine. The pump shaft will be pointed towards the engine. Pic of current hack job setup for reference. I could have got the wrong direction but it seemed right that i need a clockwise pump?

3 pointsLooking at the panel from the operators station the switch on the right is a 30 amp momentary on switch for the starter solenoid. The switch on the left is an on of switch to turn the engine on or off and is wired depending on the type of ignition, K vs M. The middle switch is for connection to the R and R or charging circuit. You don' need a switch but it was easier to deal with than a terminal strip. There are some that say you shouldn't run the engine with the R and R not connected but I have had no issues long term with the switch on or off. I used these switches because I need to test engines with different ignition systems, points vs modules. Obviously you have a limited ability to test an engine under load with this rig but at least you know it runs and whether it makes any funny noises. If you need any other info about this just ask.

3 pointsI'm going to catch all levels of everything for this.... But I'm Bear enough to take it. IT IS MINE. It was the only color Trina could get that was big enough to hold me. HERS is a nice Wheelhorse RED.....

3 pointsIf you build a plate to accept a number of engines, possible think of battery hood downs in vehicles. A lip or two on the PTO side and a clamp on the flywheel side... it would make it fairly universal.
-
3 pointsAgreed. Supply and demand my friend. On the plus side, a Kohler carb can most often be rebuilt for 20 bucks or so.

3 pointsI got the most of the shift kit done yesterday. In the instructions it very strongly suggests replacing the forward piston and accumulator piston. I called the supply house and they have both in stock, 12 bucks out the door. C’mon guys, tell me that when I’m there! I’ll spend more than $12 to get there and back.

3 pointsI have one of those uncles , except the lose screw is no where near a lower body part.
-
3 pointsIf the pulley is not moving forward when you push the pedal, you may have sheared the pin that fastens the clutch lever to the cross shaft on the left side.
-
3 pointsI actually do a quite a few side jobs on evenings and weekends, and I’d guess that probably 80% of our customers here at the shop would follow me to wherever I went, whether it be another shop or my own. The only thing holding me back is the lack of a suitable building to work in. I have been talking to a guy here in town about the possibility of renting to own his old service station and parts store. Mostly wanted it to work on my own projects but it very well could end up being a full time job
-
3 pointsthat's Taryl , he puts out a lot of really good videos and he seams to know his stuff. but, yeah...the first time i saw him i was kinda shocked as for keeping fuel systems clean, my 1966 Honda i have owned since 1973 and have never cleaned or even had off the bike the carburetor and the fuel tank. the tank looks clean inside and the motor runs perfect. for storage i use Sta-bil in the gas , run the motor to get it into the carb , shut off the fuel and run the carb dry. then i drain the tank and carb my backup 1981 Toro 421 snowblower which has sat unused for 5-6 years started on the 3rd pull

3 pointsI like this style vintage seat I installed on my 68 Commando-8. Included the seat springs for a little bit of extra height. Not original but keeps that old school look. Nice ones are expensive though.

3 pointsCouple of years back at a vintage rally, I picked up an undamaged cast iron seat. Most likely of a horse drawn implement. We had an old bird bath lying around with a broken top. Result below. Youngest daughter loves it. Says her backside fits in perfectly.
-
3 pointsOn the front porch last night - my cheap little valve spring compressor. After using screwdrivers, pliers, vices and twine since 16 on countless engines, removing the Onan's valves took all of 10 minutes. Glorious! Now, if onanparts would just open, I could get those rings and get this 516 purring again.
