6 pointsAs far as power tools go here, the bandsaws are the most used ones. I am not a believer in standard 3/4 materials it being too thick or too thin most of the times so I do lots of resawing pretty much on a daily basis. For that band saw blades need to be perfectly sharpened. I do that myself here without removing blades by using diamond impregnated burrs. Unlike ordinary ones these do not fall apart and last a while. I use table as a guide hooking burr under tooth and leveling tool flat on table. Tension from blade wanting to go back down is enough to sharpen tooth while I mentally count to 10 on each tooth. Burr turns clockwise into tooth keeping it from slipping out. Saw and anything plugged into that line starts vacuum automatically cleaning any metal dust. After I clean blade removing caked on dust and at same time removing and burrs on its sides from the sharpening. For that I use a brass bristled brush while I use the saw on reverse. I use reversible motors in most of my machinery this being one of the many functions for that. End result is evident on slicing through a chunk of hard maple making paper thin veneer with barely a mark from the saw on it. IMG_5092.MOV IMG_5090.MOV IMG_5084.MOV

6 pointsOne is a Case and I forget what the other one is off the top of my head. There is a building out of view that has another Case in it. The original owners has passed but one of their sons never left home and was my neighbor since 1994. The boys Dad used to drive them in parades and give kids rides but the city shut him down because of the damage to the streets. My neighbor is now in a nursing home and his brother lives a couple houses up the street. It will probably get sold off when my neighbor passes away, since he never married and his brothers kids have no interest in them Here is how they look in the fall, such a beautiful site out my front window. .

6 pointsI will get better footage as the winter progresses. This was teh shakedown run for my C-175 and towards the end, the lift cylinder wasnt holding the blower up and it was leaking some oils... new seal kit is on its way... next question.... how do i remove the lift cylinder? I will be working in the frigid cold so i want to have a gameplan so im not futzing around with stuff. Thanks! Video.mov

6 pointsThis pic was a year ago yesterday and my wife scooped the snow for me. She is a keeper!! We don't get much snow around here usually.

5 pointsStrap 'em to your head--not too much vibration and they are always pointed to where you are looking?
-
5 pointsIt is a 1991 520H that I bought new. Over 1500 hours now and running strong, That "snow" was the worst ever, the video was on a portion of the driveway that had less depth but even there the Onan was maxed out. I do three large driveways and it took six hours when including trimming up with a plow.

5 pointsDad made skid shoes for his 48” blade that he runs on Clyde. Interestingly, he has plenty of traction with the American Farmer implement tires and Tri ribs on the front for steering. If you pinch zoom this picture you can see one of the shoes. Dad has a gravel drive and has found the shoes to work well for him. I have a 60” Haban that I run on my Diesel Cub and it also has shoes for my gravel drive. I usually set it at about 5/8” clearance and go with it. Occasionally if I build up enough of an “ice/snow pack” on the drive, I’ll drop the blade all the way down.

5 pointsWe got blasted with snow. We got 32" where I am and just north of me got 3'. The mail box is about 4' off the ground and prior to any plows coming through. So much for 4-8" forecasted about 24 hours prior. The day of was still 8-12"

4 pointsLooking good! But...what’s up with all this “PITA” talk... “People Ingesting Tasty Animals”? What’s that got to do with balancing your tubes???

4 pointsStill would like a bargain on any small dozer but I've actually seen and touched a couple Cletracs but nowhere near as nice as this one! The cleats really caught my eye! Forsale on Facebook. Seems links are taboo here but you could search for: Cletrac, 3-point hitch blade, 3-point hitch carryall Listed 7 weeks ago in in Franklinville, NY $3950

4 pointsSo true. I can drop the genny unto a dolly in 5 minutes, set-up and align is less than an hour. Then time for the plow. To avoid all the hassel I fitted a second tractor with the plow but it has tall tires. When I find another set of tires and wheels the plow tractor will get these.
-
4 pointsSo far, food and coffee and donuts and breeze. No shoes, no shirt, no problems!
-
4 pointsThat's not the worse idea... on the blower itself might get snowed over or vibration might be an issue. Generally the higher you can mount them the better but if you don't have a cab...
-
4 pointsAre those LED spot lights or flood lights? And which ones ? link?
-
4 pointsRight. Most problems with crimped connections result from use of the wrong crimping tool. Most quality (T & B etc) terminal packaging will list the accepted tools for the job. If crimps are used, do not skimp on the tool. My T&B crimp pliers cost nearly $40 over 30 years ago, and I have never lost a crimp in 1000's of crimps over the years.

4 pointsRemember, take one full pass, then take partials. Don't use the whole blade width and you take less weight and can carry it farther. It will also make less mess. Having the ability to tilt the blade helps too. I've plowed 3 times since 3 yesterday. My driveway is as wide as a normal two-lane road, and long, and I did the whole thing with a fixed blade.
-
4 pointsWell, that was quite the learning curve. My first winter with the C101, actually my first winter as a homeowner (in a long time) as well. Called for 8-12”, actually snowed 24”. When I went to bed it just started, so there was nothing to plow then. Woke up to the 24”. I “should” have plowed at 1am, and then 5 am, then it might have been manageable. But I still got some seat time after shoveling a path down the driveway.

4 pointsI had some starting issues with my B-80 yesterday. I think I need to check out points and maybe replace points and condenser which have not been replaced for several years. I had good spark and yet no fire in the motor. I cleaned the center carb needle, bowl and changed the spark plug. Still a no go so I decided to reconfigure my snowplow plan for this season. Ao I had my snowplow all set up on the B-80 and decided to change it to my backup 854 Wheel Horse that I used last year. I put my B-80's snowplow on the 854 but had to change the rear 3/4 inch hitch rod to the inner position used for short frame tractors. I also had the short solid lift on the B-80 and I changed to the long solid lift piece on the 854 setup. Took about an hour 0but it is done and ready for the next snowfall.

3 pointsFew days of absense from me due to the winter weather here in ma. Me and another guy at work put in a straight 42 hour shift in the tow trucks between parking ban tows and recoveries. Was itching to try out the plow but didnt get the chance til today. Working great so far the 315 does good. I will continue in the morning and hopefully finish up my yard
-
3 pointsThat tip does look pretty worn and could be an issue. As you know, you bottom out those screws and back them out what the book says for your engine and carb. Adjustment after that...do the side screw first and it should only be like 1/4 turn either way. Listen for the engine to run smooth. Next do the top screw and do the same thing. Make sure your points are set correctly...that can make more of a difference in how that horse runs.

3 pointsI am getting ready to spend a large chunk of hard earned moola on the full Monty snow removal system for the Mahindra better to have and not need than to need and not have IMO, If ain't but 1 storm a year. 2" or 2' but the blade will come in handy for other work as well uses the same sub frame and down pressure for the ice like this time... Besides it's hard not to love a sweet 520 spinning a snow blower.
-
3 pointsyes a second 3/4 rod on a long frame plow could be the way to secure an add on frame for rear weights Pete! Use some angle iron and make frame to ride on outside of wheel horse long plow frame.

3 pointsHere's some , the gear box plate uses atach-o-matic holes in frame. More to come. Rear (pipe) mount attached to rear hitch, mine is missing , but I think Aldon may have got dimensions. In one of his posts, can't find it right now.
-
3 pointsNo pictures from yesterday but I did snap a picture today after cleaning up the edges some more. We did not get near what some of you got. We ended up with 10 inches.
-
3 pointsNo snow to play in yet (Marshall Michigan) but I have been tinkering with my pony. Painted up my wheels today.
