Well I told you all about the dog I picked up at the shelter. He has been a great dog. I noticed he had a cracked tooth. Well that tooth broke off and the Vet said the rest of it needed to come out. Took him in yesterday for the surgery. he isnt a happy camper. His snout is all swollen. He is sleepy. I cant let him chew anything for 2 weeks. did I mention he likes to chew on things , most likely how he broke the tooth to begin with. Not sure if it was cracked when I got him. He was hit but a car before I got him. Lots of scars on his side from that surgery. Poor guy cant catch a break ! They saved what was left of his tooth. Bottom of it is where it broke off. You can see how much was under the gum line. It was his top canine tooth. Hope he is feeling better soon.

@pullstart, you could build a BIG roof rack on top and get a dozen or so up there.

Anyone have any info on this machine, like when they were made? I'm assuming parts are going to be hard to find, but I think this was built by Moto-Mower. I keep picking up these off brands lol

I use only the latest laser alignment technology from Hunter. Nothing is too good for my $500 tractor. Not even a $40k alignment machine.

Cleaning out the chicken coooook today... what a crappy job. I did manage to wreak havoc on a rodent population with my hoe!

You failed to include tire stager! If most of your turns are to the left you want a slightly larger tire on the right. NASCAR fans know all about this stuff.

@pullstart Looks like a viable candidate for a 4x4 chassis. Hummmm, duals, 36", 38" tires or maybe even taller???

'course then you'd have to beef up the suspension a bit and maybe even the frame.... But some of those baby horses might want to ride inside if you take out some seats?

Got a Phonecall today from the Powdercoating company. They told me i can definitely pickup my Rim‘s on Monday, they will finalize it either Way before Christmas.

Randy, my guess would be that the 3522 gear (input shaft) has a needle bearing inside of it that feels the pressure when in any gear other than third. When you are in third gear the 3522 gear and the 3523 gear are made up and the shaft is rotating at the same speed as the gears so the bearing has no load applied to it. Please don't ask how I would know about this. Also, don't ask how many times I had it apart before I figured it out.

Not really custom, but added this to the Raider 12 instead of having to get the trailer out every week for hauling trash and recycling down to the road. It was 5 foot wide, but I cut it down to the width of the tractor. And it folds up when the tractor is parked. It's pretty handy and rated for 500lbs.

Toe out helps going into the corners and toe in will help when coming out of the corner, all depends on how you set up your race tractor!! Randy

With all of the add on's, some more Horse Power maybe required as well.

So, just to recap, @pullstart is looking at a full roof rack (lift crane?), 4x4, lifted, oversized wheels, duallys of course, and based on weight and the totality of the build, I think we’re looking at dual, possibly tri-axle... Start the build thread...

Curt or a Draw Tight class 3 hitch less then 175.00 dollars, a couple of hours of you time, done. Go get it, has your name all over it .

So, put a hitch on it... Right color too...! Can you say duallys?

I was like a kid when I woke up this morning. I heard we were going to get a little snow last night. I been dying to try the plow on my 857. I woke up got dressed and couldnt wait to get to the garage. Well we didnt get hardly any snow. Pushed it out into the driveway..... took some pictures of it . You guys tired of it yet ? lol . Then I rolled it back into the garage. I figure these tractors are like a pretty woman.... never get tired of looking at a pretty woman. Soon... soon there will be enough snow to push. I only want to try it once, then I will be happy if it didnt snow again all season.

I have a bucket of tractor/trans fluid from the farm store. It was far less cost than a bucket of ATF and seems to have performed the same for many years in my commercial plow trucks. I’d add some atf just for color, so I’d have a visual indicator in the snow if a leak occurred. Scratch that. Not IF, but WHEN!

I have primer bulbs on all mine. Same location as in Jim's picture so I can reach it from the seat. They all start with a bump of the starter...no cranking at all. Your battery and starter will thank you.

Before Norman... I was bidding on stick shift Cummins powered farm (ex-school) busses! I was going to shorten one and pop our old suburban on top!

Foul!!! Utilizing implements as a minimum controlling factor will reduce your legitimate tractor capacity... the rule must be a maximum of one implement per tractor. Of course, if one maximizes the minimal sized implements, then one could maximize the minimum tractors needed for the maximum implements...

Anybody want to donate a lathe to me and the old ball n chain?

Bolt Norman to the front...? Kinda like a train... just add another engine!

If I must. Actually we still have bare ground here for the moment

I like the hard chrome steel idea !! I cut the ball joints off from the stock tie rods, then turn the ends down so that they can be threaded to accept the new ball ends. This way the original patina can even be kept if you wish.

That milkshake look could be due to some moisture (condensation or water) in the oil.

If only every woman could understand that very simple and I think obvious fact! Implements and and even quick attachments still need to be properly stored and how better than to have their own tractor!

I have one 953 with ATF and a couple that have ???? oil in them based on the color of their drips. The two that have clear oil I top off with hydraulic oil and they all work fine.
  38. 3 points
This is for my kids 953, I put tractor trans oil in mine 5 or so years ago when I put it together. Been working great other than the constant drip! I did get 2 seal kits from wheel horse parts and more so hopefully I can seal them up. Didnt know if that was the right fluid, just curious what everyone else was running. Thanks!

Thinking the K-20 would look good with a little snow on the tires. Actually needed a little room in the garage this morning and wanted to fire it up, turn the heater on and let it run for a while. This truck hasn't seen snow in a long time. Good ole 4 barrel carb, 4 or 5 pumps and she fires right up, new AC Delco battery helps too. Can't wait for spring.

I did something a little different here I had two or three of those little portable air compressors (car) so I installed on all my tractors a push-in cigarette lighter socket (and fuse) ... presto instant air wherever I want and any tractor and since the tractors are mobile more then once have helped the neighbors out.....!

I’ve talked to a few cub cadet guys recently and they claim the IH manual says SAE 30 I know a lot of guys still run ATF Nobody seems to know what Wheel Horse hydraulic fluid actually was since it is only referred to as the part number but the Cub guys claim the international manual calls out SAE 30🤷‍♂️

Don't forget the ground connections. If it was repainted they may not have cleaned the paint off before connecting the grounds, poor ground and it will act like there's no battery.
  43. 3 points
Any wiring connection near the battery is subject to more corrosion due to battery acid fumes over the years. If you don't clean and tighten ALL electrical connectors you will be plagued with electrical problems until you do it right.

Tractor wheels often do not run true but at low speed it does not matter. Center the steering wheel if you can. Standing on the left side of the tractor put a mark on the inside of the right tire at the 9:00 o'clock position. Take a horizontal measurement to the left tire. Roll the tractor until the mark is at the 3:00 o'clock position and take another measurement between the tires. Get the back measurement 1/8" wider than the front and you are done. Garry

Only the early 520's had the fuse down there. You should download the Demystification Guide and start with one system to troubleshoot. The starter circuit is a bit complicated but with the help of the guide, you can start at the battery and go on till you find where the voltage is lost. Your tractor has lights on the dash that can help you determine which safety switch is open, but you mentioned that everything is dead so maybe there is no voltage past the ignition switch.

You do have a job for life. To be the best person you are capable of being at any given time for yourself and the people you care about. This is NOT easy. What sort of other, temporary job you have can vary. Your concern for your family tells me you are on the right track. If it helps, consider that letting you go was just another mistake that company made. I'll echo @Tractorhead in that the first time I lost a job I was desperate. After three times, and finding a new job after each time, my daughter shared that she'd learned an important lesson from watching me through all this--she called me resilient and hoped she would be. Let the people around you help you--they want to be givers but you must be willing to receive. Keep the faith and keep on keeping on.

Well thanks to those pics I know where the battery is supposed to go now. Previous owner built that bracket on the back for it. Get this, he lived to be 100. Got this tonight from his estate yard sale. Sat in the corner of his garage for 20 years when he couldn't plow his snow on his own anymore.

I just did mine with rods from Lowell. With the rods off, center the wheel push the seat forward and use a couple bar clamps to clamp the seat to the wheel to hold the wheel stationary in place. Set the rods as close to the originals as you can and install then just snug. Measure between the front of the wheel and the back of the wheel, they should be but might not be parallel. If any difference is small, adjust one of the rods to give abojt 1/8" of toe in. You may needto adjust both if the difference is larger. My old rods were really worn! I had almost a half inch toe out. Drives MUCH better now. By the way, unless there is zero wear in the axle bores, the spindles and your wheel bearings are perfect, the flanged bushing at the front of the steering shaft is perfect, there will be enough slop to make the whole excercise sorta pointless, but it feels good to be at a point that feels good.

Did it couple years ago and just put new one on because old cheap one cracked... works like a charm... fuel filter between tank and bulb... As always, things go better with pics:

@rmaynard, i hope that dang Covid itself will be in quarantine soon. I understand your fear and thoughts and i respect it, but i also hope the best. It‘s time we get our life back, and can fight that Virus out of our Life. Even my Plan‘s stay or drops with that results in the next month‘s. Actually we have again a fully Lockdown here, no idea of how long it will be happen. On thursday last week we do a test, even so my mom, that we can see us after one year again. 😷😢 because she like to see us. That Virus changed our all life's dramatically in a Way, nobody can imagine before. But i be in best hope, all turns to good and this meeting will happen.
