9 pointsThanks to @WHX24 for a set of seat springs that will get me up off the fender pan, it will help me see better where the front of the blower is. Before After Then it was on to the Raider 12 for some up grades. Added a full of wheel weights, a set of chains, and a tote to take the trash and recycling down the 1/4 mile driveway to the road.

7 pointsOne of the best vids I've seen comparing and explaining rust removal. Nothing new or earth shaking but a good summary of most of the methods I'm familiar with. Absolutely Great for a beginner!

7 pointsI got the snow plow mounted on the Raider 10 a couple days ago. Then I got the bright idea the parking spots in front of my house needed the gravel freshened up. First, I loosened the gravel with my C-120 and a cultivator. Then I dozed it into a pile for processing with the raider. Fortunately, I had the common sense to get some pictures. I was surprised with how high the tractor climbed up the pile. My dad was out, so I had him get an action shot too. I'll be sifting the pile then putting everything back down layered: dirt, pea gravel, large gravel. These are the piles of how far I've gotten so far. I wouldn't have even considered a project like this before I had my horses to help me out!

5 pointsMy son bought a CNCq plasma cutter and this is the first gift he’s making for a friend. This is just a mock up. He’ll be offering his services up soon. @Zeek @Achto this was a gift for me a couple years ago . He’s a very talented artist (drawing, tattoos, painting) and he made me this transfer board. He used a wood burner and used like a tattoo gun as the picture is made up of just burned in dots. I don’t know if he used transfer paper or a projector to transfer the image to the board.

5 pointsGot the plow on the 315, installed a new cutting edge, and got the deck hosed off ready to soak in marvel oil for winter. Pretty productive day so far hoping to get started on the charger 12 loader subframe as well

5 pointsTractorhead, on polishing aluminum, here is what we do on motorcycle side cases. If the metal is heavily corroded or has a lot of defects, we use a small high speed buffer with rol lock disc. Step two is establish brush marks with 320 or so wet or dry sandpaper. you can always go a bit coarser if need be, but fine brush marks are very nice. Then finish off with finer grades of sandpaper in the 800 to 1000 range.if you wish always making the brush marks in one direction only. Finally, hit that piece with flitz metal polish. It shines the best if rubbed in the same one direction as the sandpaper marks. The difference is very very nice. You will need to maintain this finish with the polish several time a year but you love this tractor so all is good.

4 pointsI have had several varieties of sickle bar mowers made by Wheel Horse (and even a Haban on a B-100). But I have never placed a 42 or 50 inch Wheel Horse Sickle Bar Mower on a B or C model from 1974 thru 1979 with the PTO bell pulleys. I am sure it can be done when the front drive pulley plates for the sickle are placed in the third and fifth from the front of the Wheel Horse frame. Any idea what size belt needed to operate the sickle on a B or C tractor ( or even later Toro models) ? I know Wheel Horse made the sickle bar mowers up until at least 1979. Any pictures or belt information on such a setup would be appreciated! Also most of the early Sickle Bar Mowers had the engagement clutch already installed on the outer right side plate where the 5 inch drive belt pulley runs.

4 pointsFriction should help along with the detent and you don't necessarily want those levers to move freely with ease anyway. Might not be a bad idea to also have something to disengage the engine belt so you don't have to worry about it taking off unexpectedly when you start it or are working on it while not sitting in the seat. Or maybe revisit those break gears on the hydro units instead of using them for mixers! LoL Curious if they also center the levers on the hydro units like a Wheel Horse hydro works. Think this is what EB was getting at for a neutral notch. Again, just trying to set off the light bulb

4 pointsSo here is the gasoline version of the grindstone. Motor is easily removed and replaced. Belt tension is fully adjustable to allow motor to be started and then tensioned just enough to turn wheel without putting undue strain on wheel bearings. Although not physically attached to stand motor is fully secure in it and fully adjustable. Need to just take it outside to start it and give it a trial run. Vibration from motor is my only concern but if it is an issue I already thought of a couple of solutions or it. Most likely will have to also move wheels to the motor side for transportation. Unit will have a permanent place outside so the gasoline version may be the one to stay with. Motor works really nicely just needed a few parts from the vast stock here such as a tank, recoil start, carburetor and air filter.

3 pointsDid some thrashing the past few days! Wheels painted, cylinder head cooling shroud and correct SG bracket, SG brushes and belt, temporary dash, (til I hear back from Glen) throttle cable, stack, etc... Tonight was it’s maiden voyage to the other side of the neighborhood and the ol girl did great. Still some minors to sort out but she’s doing well. Such a fun machine!

3 pointsJust want to personally thank all of you for the birthday wishes. Sorry for the late reply, but as I may have previously mentioned, this past year has been one that, well lets just say, one that I would just as soon forget. I realize that I haven't been around on here much lately other than to quickly check in now and again to read a couple of quick posts, but I'm still hoping all of that will change sometime very soon. I do apologize for not really having the time to follow up on most of the discussions that all of you fine folks have been posting or to just throw in my . Believe me, it hasn't gone un-noticed a lot of fine workmanship and projects that you all have been working on, but I just really haven't had the chance to post any of my own comments. I know that I left my own 856 Project in limbo, and in all honesty, it hasn't changed at all since my last posting. If I can get back on track, I will be returning to it someday (soon hopefully) and will at a minimum finish the thing and close out the thread that I started (?) years (?) ago. You all will be the first to know. Anyway, thanks again everyone. Please bear with me, I haven't gone anywhere and definitely plan to keep my Supporter status when it comes due the first of the year.

3 pointsI was originally looking for a 5 car garage - with a house attached that didn't work out - so then planned to build a 3 car garage next to the house we got well that didn't work out either - money we saved went to paving our private road and driveway then the garage (or shed) became a distant memory ... with kids and sports and activities etc we now have a stuffed two car garage - with barely enough room to navigate let alone actually work on something ... most times need to remove a tractor (or more) to work on a tractor
-
3 pointsnope - not me - will never be tired of pictures of this tractor ... great looking tractor - another great / desirable tractor as were your prev tractors ... the 16 hp Kohler singles especially

3 pointsGrandpa just brushed used motor oil on all the ground engaging equipment. Even kept a 5 gal bucket with oiled sand for his shovels. Perhaps I misunderstood. If you are wanting to paint the entire plow I suggest Rustoleum 769 primer and then whatever decent brand of topcoat enamel. Rustoleum again if you want. You could acid etch but I'm not sure I'd bother IF you use Rustoleum 769 as directed.

3 pointsCharley Pride: 10 essential songs “Just Between You and Me” (1966) “All I Have to Offer You (Is Me)” (1969) “Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone” (1970) “Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'” (1971) “Mississippi Cotton Picking Delta Town” (1974) “Someone Loves You Honey” (1978) “You're So Good (When You're Bad)” (1982) “Night Games” (1983) 1966 Ford 3/4 ton 4 speed with a homemade black vinyl leather console with 8 track built around the 4 speed shifter, and a few good 8 track tapes.. He sure had some good slow dancin songs back in my younger days, KofC Halls, SPJST Halls, Country Fair Halls.

3 pointsI want a dual setup on something but I'm not sure why. Can't plow snow because the blade won't clear a path for the extra tires. Sure don't need it for mowing, although perhaps some might have a wet area where the extra floatation might help. Can't plow dirt with them on both sides. I'd think they would help with pulling, draggin logs and certainly stability with a loader lifted high. Other than that I think I too would hit everything nearby.

3 pointsI finally decided that it was time for a start and run out of the gas tank for the c-145. I bought two 145s for one price and this one has an overbored piston that fits tighter in the bore, than the other one The new E- bay carburetor gave a good accounting of itself, and she sounds good , I had it on the lift, so changing the oil was easy after finally discovering the oil drain went straight out the bottom of the engine. The drain plug that i removed is a female cap and it did have some sludge in the bottom and the oil was not really warmed up. The CO detector went off even with the short run time. i returned later and did see some very light sheen suggesting metal, but after earlier seeing the piston bore looking very nicely cross hatched with what looks like a ball hone, I am not in a panic about it. I think maybe that the engine was re-built and this is the first oil change. You never know about previous lives of these engines, so it is definitely a possibility that the sheen is just too many hours on a fresh rebuild? The oil capture container was a white porcelain steel pan and as clean as a whistle. After the oil settles, i think that I will save a decent sample in some clean glass bottles to see what settles out.. I think it will be my plow tractor. Fourteen horsepower with a side lever auto should be sweet

3 pointsI also went with a motorcycle lift to work on my machines, they can be quite handy. I went with a full sized drive on style with removable side wings that help widen it out for other machines. I've had many brands of things on it and it works great for me every time, from Suzuki's and Honda's, Snow Blowers and 3 Wheelers, Walk Behinds and Ride-Ons...but most importantly, Wheel Horses!

2 pointsI've been out of the paint business for quite awhile so I'm not sure about the "hardness" of modern auto paint. I do know it cures harder and faster than any spray can I'm aware of. Here we don't have a spray gun so everything is done with cans. If it's a plow you're going to use it'll be a question for someone with more experience as to how much money a proper paint job would cost vs the longevity of the surface comparing spray paint. We have a gravel yard so plow paint gets scraped off very quickly.

2 pointsThey raise the seat a tad on spring seats so the edges don't rub on the fender. See the marks half way up the fender. Some guys just use a stack of washers but then the seat likes to swivel.
