11 pointsThe system snow missed us but a lake effect band is parked right over us. This is just the start and they are saying it will stay parked there until early tomorrow morning when the wind shifts bringing us a good 10". Right now it's not sticking to the asphalt drive but I'll be doing my snow dance hoping it does.

11 pointsI have 27 that will start run and drive right now. 20 are restored.

8 points18 I could go start up and use right now plus one on loan to my brother for snow plowing this winter.
-
8 pointsBetcha Madge @AMC RULES is in the top five with most... we all know how he hoards... I'd go count mine but I'd have to take my shoes off to get past ten and it's too cold out! Lets see runners and drivers? ...four stuffed in the toy hauler, five stuffed in the rent a garage, three the in the shop now, four in the lean to, two at the cabin, one under a tarp in the great outdoors.... yikes who started this stupid thread anyway!
-
8 pointsI have a couple of project tractors that I drove into the barn under their own power but haven't run since then. Do they count? If not then I have six that are very reliable and do get a little time out on the open pasture when there is work to be done or I'm just in the mood for some seat time. The 1055 wasn't in this family gathering photo, he was working for my neighbor the day I pulled the others out to sweep the floor.
-
8 pointsThey look like a pair of flat-belt pulleys from a farm tractor. Guess you could hang a porta-potty of the back of a B-100 and then say it came from a and be telling the truth.

7 pointsChanged the oil and did a trans flush on the ‘new’ 701 and took her on her maiden shakedown run, she did great! Just for the heck of it, took an old sock and some meguires cleaner wax to a few spots. Abort ‘tear down and restore’ mission, this baby’s definitely goin’ patina!
-
7 pointsMy brother and I have about 29 in three barns. Only 16 or 17 runners ready to go but a cross section of RJs (7) round hoods (5), square hoods (7) and later toro models(5). Also four Wheel Horse 1054’s. Much more than enough to keep you busy!

7 pointsAll of mine are workers including my Dad’s 1978 C-161. It mowed on steep hills and pushed snow for over 40 years with nothing more than oil changes and a new battery now and then. It’s still original except I freshened up the tires, paint and decals a few years ago after my dad passed. Now I use it to push snow, plow gardens, and grade my gravel road. My dad was super careful with his stuff and he passed that trait on to me. He worked all his equipment and it all still looked nearly new even after decades of use. Here’s how it looked after I dug it out of his basement, after I cleaned it up a bit, and how it looks today.

6 pointsWork or show, Can't it do both? The hardest working in my herd is the 310-8. It has never been to a show but it is probably the best looking tractor I have. At the end of mowing season it gets a complete detailing and wax job prior to being covered up with a blankie for the winter. The 310 is nearly 30 years old but looks like new because the previous owner and I have taken care of it. The day I brought it home my wife thought I had bought a new . The most likely candidate for a trip to a show would be one of my 953s though they are far from being Trailer Queens. I just enjoy driving them and they seem to be more interesting to others at the show.

5 pointsDefinitely realizing I’m gonna have a few questions on this one, so decided to run a dedicated thread. as a recap: had a Simplicity up for sale and a fella asks if I’ll trade for a Wheel Horse. I’m not well versed in the round hoods, but when he sent pics of a solid nose and 7hp Kohler I jumped on it, thinking maybe it’s a 701? Sure enough, and with a new battery, fuel system cleaning and fluid change she was running under her own power, and very well at that! 5 minutes with some cleaner wax revealed some REAL nice patina, possibly original paint, so she will not be torn down and restored. Im thrilled but will have plenty to learn on this ol girl- would like to do the necessary repairs as close to factory design as possible. Thanks in advance to you gurus and stay tuned!

5 pointsI found this at the hardware store that starts with men**** $2.39 Fits perfect but has a rough finish so a decal wont stick. Maybe it could be sanded. The size says 1 1/2" but fits perfect in my 2" steering wheel. The 2" size cap actually measured 2 1/2". I took a tape measure back to the store for this one.

5 pointsPretty sure there's a guy in Wisconsin with a large collection, I know it's more than 24.

5 pointsDon't forget the red paint Definitely home made. Looks like it mounts to the rear axle and hanged behind. OK, A RED Porta-Potty.

5 points35 or 40 years ago my father's brother retired from the Air Force after about 26 years. He was some sort of a physically working field engineer so he knew the value of being prepared to do something all too well. My parents went up for a visit and my father and my uncle Ron were in the garage. My father saw a fairly late model snow blower and not too far away another one a lot like it. Keep in mind this is the mountains of New Hampshire so they get snow... My old man questioned his brother about this and my uncle looks him square in the face as serious as anyone ever did and he says... Well, if it's important enough to have one of them... It's important enough to have two. Using that type of logic I can honestly justify 4.
-
5 pointsI have to plead the fifth I can’t put something like this in writing 😳 I can say it is in double numbers and as my daughter says do you inventory your satellite locations like my garage your sons or your brothers??? 🙄 maybe a little overflow lol
-
5 pointsWell hopefully when that nasty guy passes on his relatives know about us nice people here at Red Square and our classified section!!!

4 pointsHad the 3 Kohler Twins out today helping around the yard. Decided to finish the tree work clean up along the driveway. Then did the roadside with the tine rake and then out back to maintain the trail system. Removed a lot of leaves and twigs from the trail system and it was such a nice day today being this late in November I decided to get some seat time in out back. Tine raking the trails reminds me a lot like plowing snow, a lot of back and forth especially when coming to an intersection. But seeing the looks on the faces of those who attended the M & G in September it makes it all worth the effort. Also installed a set of rear hubcaps on the 418-A that were purchased from another member on here. All in all a productive day and nice to see water in the brook after a very dry summer.

4 pointsWhen I ask this I mean running useable tractors, not the biggest parts tractor collection. I remember there was a gentleman in Canada, I believe it was R and B stables who had a beautiful collection but I think he sold most of it off. Someone out there is holding this title and I’m not the only one wondering who it is!!
-
4 pointsGets my vote For the amount of run time this will have, I doubt you will even ever need to adjust them but it's nice to have the ability to easily do it if need be. Plus any spring or floating tension will allow that side of the chain loop to move under load and possibly slack the other side since the load on the chain will change from each side of the loop with forward and reverse. Idler sprocket 3 Or just a chain loop directly on the drive and driven sprockets without anything else
-
4 pointsI agree with just about everything said - with a slight variation on step 5. As I recall, there is a thin wall on the block casting on one side - I prefer to crush the split pipe with a large pair of "Vise Grip" locking pliers - you can crush and twist the pipe at the same time with no impact. Worked like a charm on Dad's 702 ..... Bill

4 pointsDon you are thinking of Roy and Betty Stewardson! Great people. They came to the Wheel Horse show several times. Yes he lived in Canada and had a great collection of Wheel Horse tractors, attachments , etc and posted it on the web for all to see. I sold him a couple gaskets for the Lawn Ranger gas tank hole on the hood. But when I sold them on eBay I did not sell out of the states. He said that’s fine send them to a friend in Port Huron, Michigan. I did that and finally got to meet him in 2010 and a couple other Wheel Horse collector shows in Pennsylvania.
-
4 pointsValue has a lot to do with location and purpose. What does your friend plan to use it for? If it is for mowing and towing it may be fine. How much time and money will be spent in taking a look at it. If it is close by that saves some money Take a battery with you and see how it runs and drives.
-
4 pointsYap, You can use different Sets of Pumps, important is, that you take care it is able to work with side load. Most pumps needs intent bearings, that will handle a sideway force to destress the pumpspindle itself. depending on rotation direction on the Pump and PTO also a Car powersteering pump can be used. They typically delivers 90-160 Bar of Pressure what is more than enough. the fluidconsumpt is with about 2.9gpm similar to that pump you showed Powesteering pumps have 3 Advantages Cheap (because of Mass production) usable for sideway Load. (Belt drive) Standart Connectors and flanges for easy mount.
-
4 pointsI was about to nominate you for largest collection here in Michigan!
-
4 pointsThis was a bucket list item and the guy didnt even have it listed, thats whats crazy! He responded to my ad for the Simplicity and asked "trade for a Wheel Horse?" I figured probably an old vertical shaft bomb or parts donor, and he sends the pics. I couldnt get there fast enough haha.

3 pointsPutting one of Jim's stack mufflers on my C100 Tractor, This is what he told me I needed, but anyone know about how long a 1" pipe nipple I need to get the muffler 1- 1 1/2" outside of the tractor. Also any suggestions of how to get my old muffler connection off the engine after 50 years More to follow, but would love someone that has done this on the C100 before I break something expensive, going to Tractor Supply to get some parts today (see below from Jim), and you can see pics of my daughter Liz driving the horse below You will need a 1" pipe nipple long enough to get outside of the hood , you want the muffler to be 1" to 1 1/2" away from the hood so it doesn't burn the paint , and a 1" 90 degree elbow pointed up and the muffler will thread right in , then just tighten the lock ring when you have the muffler tight. , not too tight as it will tight up over time and be a bear if you ever want to take it off , i like the mufflers with the rain caps , i like them at slow speed when the cap sits there opening and closing on every pulse of the motor , let me know if you have any trouble with it , i stand behind everyone that i build 100% , and with over 3000 mufflers out there i must be doing something right with them , and please post pictures when you get it mounted

3 pointsSounds like my wife when I bring a new to me home! Its official now Madge has got the new title of "RS Carb Cleaner" I got his address if you fellas want to start sending them over. Heard tell he works for peanuts too! Welds on that bar broke loose Green ... they were welded by hand so the assembler was prolly hung over the day that one was made. Tack it back up rom the inside and if some burn marks just hit it with some rusty primer or let it rust over again naturally to keep the patina.
-
3 pointsI just put a muffler on my 1970 Charger 12 a couple days ago. I put a 2" double male coming out of the engine which goes into a 45° double female. The piece I can't answer for sure is the connector between the 45° elbow and your double female 90° elbow. I would advise that you pick up pieces of pipe that are 4, 5, and 6 inches long. Experiment a bit with the lengths that get you where you want to be. As far as removing the old pipe from the engine, as stated above we would need to see what is there now. The ones I have removed were threaded into the engine. Step 1. Read disclaimer. Disclaimer: It's important to note that you DO run a risk of breakage. Step 2. Read disclaimer. Step 3. The safest way that I know to do it is to get a sawzall or jigsaw involved. Cut the pipe off about 1/2-in away from the engine block and then make several slits in the pipe doing your best to avoid cutting the engine block threads. Step 4. If you've made it this far go back and read the disclaimer just for kicks... Step 5. Use a large punch and hammer and push the pipe into itself away from the engine threads and it should collapse into curled pieces.

3 pointsMy favorite is the one I photo bombed in at the Portage WI show. Let not forget about these issues....
-
3 pointsYep...First tractor I restoed was to be put up on blocks and a queen only. Then @Achto got me into shows so the tractor went too.... and got rained on and muddy and field plowed and hauled tubs and chain piled and whatever else it was needed for. Dan's restoes and refreshes are far better than mine and he sticks them in the dirt regular but next time I see them they are just as clean as the day he restoed them. So don't ride them hard and put them away wet I guess is what I'm sayin.

3 pointsThe ole boy in the Ozarks think his name was Rick had some nice stuff
-
3 pointsAnd ironically the collection likely was at least a contributing cause to the divorce. I have one tractor total and it runs, so I'm not in contention for this prestigious award. The guy I bought it from probably had 30-40 WH tractors and I suspect almost all of them would run with nothing more than a battery charge.
-
3 pointsI'm just going to sit down right over here in Maine and hope you post more pictures...
