9 pointsVery cool to be able to visit the Pullstart family at their place for a change! The kids are loving to hang out with each other and anytime I can get my hands greasy—I’m a fan! Mrs. P made a delicious supper meal which we thoroughly enjoyed—many thanks! The kids loved the time in the 70 degree water while the air temps were dipping into the low 50’s. I have been around pools many times but have never seen someone through a bunch of glow sticks in the pool... made for a really cool ambiance! Judge was drooling all over Kevin’s full dresser Harley! I told him that he needs to grow a little bit more before he can drive something that size😉 Hopefully tomorrow we can make some more headway on Norman. With Pullstart’s mods, this truck should not only be bulletproof but also a really strong towing machine.

6 pointsCamping out in Pullstart’s awesome camper is like a mini home away from home. Much to the kids dismay, right now it is a school house... I love the pull out sides...this is my first time to spend any serious time in one and I’m amazed how much larger it makes the living space. @Coulter Caleb working on Geometry and Claudia is pushing through Algebra. One consolation is that the sooner they get this paperwork done, the sooner they can get to some real “education” with the pullstart Gang—wrenching on Norman, driving horses—testing out gravity, inertia, and friction in a real world setting! Thanks Kevin for the awesome digs!

5 pointsSome time back @jachady posted his project with a Haban flail mower. That’s what inspired me to start my own crazy project. His was already belt-driven but connecting it to the WH took a bit of creativity. I recently scored a Haban 314 or 318 36” flail mower in remarkably good shape (the PO hacked the ID plate though) but it was originally made for a Bolens 1050 with a front PTO. A gearbox turned the rotation. I’ve stripped off the Bolens mount and drive hardware (I’ll post some of the bits for sale here and on the Bolens Forum—the gearbox looks like the one used on some sickle mowers). I am making an adaptor so that with some salvaged parts off a dead single-stage snowblower I can mount it to the front attach-a-magic. I’ll also be adding a pulley coupled to the mower drive sprocket and using the snowblower spring-loaded idler/tensioner on the drive pulley. Now for the kicker. The tractor is stored for the winter at a summer camp hours away so I cannot do any trial fittings for my winter project. I’m trusting the measurements I have but as I get into this I realize I missed a couple things. I’m hoping someone with a 300 or 400 close to hand can take and share some measurements for me and, even better, lives near enuf for me to drop by for some trials! I’m 35 miles north of New York City. Here’s what I need: 1. The diameter of the outer PTO pulley so that I can properly size the mower pulley. Clearance for this pulley “drives” repositioning the mower’s chain final drive to maintain alignment. The Bolens used a heavy and long universal jointed shaft that there isn’t room to adapt. I’ve scoured the forum and parts manuals but this pulley diameter is never mentioned! 2. The height from the ground to the center of the attachment’s support bar when it is locked in the attach-a-magic so I can align the mower height. 3. The clearance needed between a fully left- or right-turned 8” front wheel with turf tires to an attachment directly in front of the tractor. I want the mower as close as possible but being able to make turns without scrubbing tire is useful! I’ve attached a couple of images of the start of the project. More as I progress. 5 pointsI saw an ad for an Ingersoll 224 tractor with all kind's of neat hydraulics on it, a snow blade, new tires and a fresh rebuilt engine along with new wiring harness a and the list went on and on, it was priced very low and three hour drive from me so I figured it was gone and he never killed the ad, after seeing it for a couple of weeks I inquired and it was available, I made the trip knowing that something was not right if it was still around but the price of the hydraulics alone was the entire tractor asking price. When I arrived he had moved it out to the corner of the drive, I looked at it it started right up and idles, revved up ok and moved on it's own power nicely. it had some hydraulic leaks at flare fittings that was more of an annoyance than an issue in my mind. I asked what his bottom dollar and he dropped the price a hundred bucks and said if I would load it up I could go to his son's shop and have any of the spare parts I wanted, well I said sure I will take what you don't need. Well long story short I wound up with two decks, the tractor and blade and a pickup load of parts included another set of rear wheels wheel weights, an entire transaxle and hydraulics to put another tractor together mostly . All the way home I was wondering what had gone wrong in his engine rebuild that was going to show up, he did tell me he had to use a john deere block which was bored 30 over and the crank was 20 under and the carb was new. After unloading all the goodies and sorting through them and stashing them in various open spaces in my shed and shop I ran the engine for a while drove it around the yard, hooked it to my pickup and pulled until the tires spun, I then noticed it has what sounded like a rod knockings but only at mid throttle, so I thought maybe ignition knock so I tightened up the carb mounting bolts, checked the gap on the plug checked points and wound up decreasing the point gap to about .014 to get the knock to settle down. I put the points back to .020 and did a static timing check and my points are opening at a little past the mid point on the top dead center and the spark marks on the fly wheel. Now the Question??? do you think he may have the cam shaft off one tooth? I figure to have to yank it out and pull the pan to make sure but wanted one of the experts to offer any insight as I don't know for sure. Here are a few pictures and you may be able to see why I could not pass this up at $850 folding money.

4 pointsHusband and I spent MY DAY OFF just right, with the horses!☺️ We rearranged the horses in the shed so more could fit... He had to play on his old project-but new runner again before putting it away!!! He has been tempted to sell it, but just recently got it put together and running! I told him “watch you get it running you won’t want to sell...” I was right as always!! 😁 So YES he has decided to keep it! Hint REASON for rearranging the horse heard in the shed so he could put it inside over winter! He mowed some with it, throwing things at me! Lol... Camera girl always gets her man no matter how dangerous! 😉. He refuses to paint it...🤔. He has dubbed it “Rusty”. Guessing it’s hear you stay!😂. We are now on the look out for a RUSTY heat shield and original foot rest, if anyone has for sale! IMG_6442.MOV

4 pointssorry , karl lyon for the mix up , got tangled up in a zip file , anyway, as you can see the flat pry bar leverage advantage , that just slides under the base of the deck pulley , and rocks on the bolt head of a spindle deck mount, giving you great advantage to removing a pulley. you must evenly push down on these 2 bars on a lubricated pulley shaft top area, the pulley pops off, this was on a 36" r/d deck, but very similar to 42" r/d and s/d decks , of the later design . combine this with an upgrade to hi temp grease to all rotational points and the decks really run quietly well, pete

4 pointsMy parents love to go RV-ing. They have a small group of friends that meets at several different times and places throughout New England over the course of a summer. I accompanied them to a dealership at one point when they were looking at campers for sale. We went inside one that was too big for them to be interested in but we just wanted to check it out. It was meant to be pulled with a 2 ton medium duty or larger and was compatible with standard tractor trailer fifth wheels. The living space box was a full 40 ft long. The living room area was at the back and was a double slide. When both of them were open that area was roughly 16 x 16 ft. King size bed up in the front over the fifth wheel hitch. That was also a slide out. Impressive rig to say the least. Across the front were the words King Of The Road

4 pointsThanks @ZXT for the pics and info. I’ll be starting a thread eventually for a repower on “WARRIOR” which is my 1995 K2500 work truck. The 5.7 TBI is tired and honestly, I want more power without affecting reliability. I located a 2004 Chev Express with a roasted 4L80E tranny. It has a strong running LQ4 6.0 liter and that will find its way into Warrior soon. I need to gather all the necessary swap parts and mainly science out the electronics/computer side of things. Anyone here who has experience with these swaps, I’d appreciate your input. Can’t wait to see what your Elky looks like all put together and working... To keep us on topic...I saw this 1969 Lemans at a Home Depot parking lot. This car is the exact color that my GTO was originally. Cars interior is very similar to mine but with column shift and the original dash. (My dash is from a 1970 Lemans). this was a really nice 51 year old survivor

4 pointsNot from experience of having owned one, but correct me if I am wrong...don't these things have limitations as to what attachments will actually work on these tractors. Plus, be aware that their bigger footprint will obviously command more of your storage space.

3 pointsI've had this pump apart and put seals in it, but either the input shaft whole or the shaft itself is so warn out that no seal will ever keep it from leaking. It leaks fluid about as fast as I can put it in and it leaks all over the belt guard and gets on the belt and just generally makes a mess. Anyone have a fix for this. I didn't know if you could drill the hole out an bush it and get a better input shaft? I'm just thinking out loud here so any ideas are appreciated. And here is the obligatory pic of the tractor lol

3 pointsBrought today Kati back home. release that day from the Offivce for some driver Jobs but in between i had few hour‘s „Horsetime“ So firstly i give my 656 a small cleanup. Than i decided to remount the Chomepipe and do a SPL measuring compared to the Pepperbox. On the Pepperbox it was 86db with the Chomepipe it was 87db. It is measured not really louder than the pepperbox, but it have much more SPL in the Bass Line. Than i decided to remove today the Deck for a completely cleanup and even a rework. In this time (next few day‘s) the 212 Horse must do the mower Job. The 656 is only for Funriding... While my mower actions i hear about a scratching noise each time, i lifted the Deck. an closer inspection show‘s me, there was few dull‘s in the Beltcover what let the cover scratching onto the Deck - time to fix that. Firstly remove it - whoooohoooo - ya looks sexy.. 😎 after removed felt a half ton of old grease, i found some more Red on the Frame. i decide to carefully remove all the old grease, to find out, what‘s under. Much better than i expected. Covered over the Time in grease. - after this is finished, i get the dulled Cover and try to realign it. P that seems good enough maybe.. ? next issues going to be prepared. The greatest for me is, to have now my own Workshop in a Shed, that is big enough to do all that things covered under a roof and wind shielded. Temp dending on Paintjobs, but still warm enough, to work each day a little bit.

3 pointsI definitely would pick it up if it is a decent price. They are the proverbial needle in the haystack if you are looking for one. As I understand it, they only produced about 750 of them in total over the three year production from 1982-84. They are a unique machine and very capable. One of these days mine will get a full restore!

3 pointsI'm going to go ahead and hazard a guess that he liked who you are and what you represent as a person. I've done exactly the same thing on both sides of the same coin. I'll sell something to a paid supporter of Redsquare for next to nothing just because I know the piece is going to somebody that respects what it is, who is selling it and why and knows what they're looking for. I'm not on FB and I've gotten so I rarely sell anything on CL anymore. Just ain't worth da hassle....
