11 pointsWell I picked this up the other day. Just thought it was really cool and I had to have it, plus PO only wanted 50 bucks for it ! After I got it home I discovered it was made over seas in England. How it got here I will never know. I rubbed it down with boiled linseed oil and put a coat of poly on it. The wood soaked it right up. The floor wasnt very sturdy. 1/4 at best for the flooring and there was no tailgate. I was going to just put a piece of 3/4 plywood on the bottom. Went to the Big Box Store to discover they want 50 bucks for a sheet of plywood these days. Time to rethink my idea. Up in the rafters in my garage there was some wood that has been there since I bought the house. I pulled it all down and starting thinking this just might work. I cut out all the bad spots and had JUST enough. All tongue and groove just like the sides of the trailer and it matched perfect. Came out pretty good. used some metal to hold the tailgate in place and mounted some handles on it. Rubbed it all down with the linseed oil again it is shines like a new penny. Came out way better then if I used plywood. I mounted the handles on the inside of the tailgate for two reasons. Feels more natural lifting it up and out from there, second I stand it up on end to store it in the shed.

11 pointsSaw this at a filling station and had to grab some pics. Guy had a tub on the back and was filling his gas cans. Looks to be a simplecityfranken landlord ... claimed the wheel weights went 150 lbs each!

10 pointsA couple neighborhood fellas and myself got a little silly over the holiday weekend and hooked Hoss up. Was a good test for the hopped up K321, pulling 7-8 full grown men, the table, plywood and frame up a couple steep neighborhood hills- was flawless.

9 pointsI gave the retired C-120 a little exercise. Hauled a tree stand and me to the back 40. 20' up and no broken bones Kevin.

9 pointsMight be surprised .... couple yrs after Katrina, I bought a nice? - at one time... South Bend lathe that had been completely submerged in that toxic soup in New Awlins. Had a pretty extensive gear box and that was where the damage was (looked a lot like your mess), rest of lathe was pretty good (why I gambled on it) On tear down and clean up - sand blasting - I had one gear that was unuseable. Course EVERY bearing was shot, but that was an easy fix. Between my buddy and I we had the gear cutting tools and made that one gear --- Ive now been using the lathe some 5-6 yrs and its a nice one, a bit noisier than when new but certainly not bad.

7 pointsPut a renewed #1623 idler pulleys on my 701 Wheel Horse with the hydro pump and CBR-327 chain drive sickle bar mower. Prondzy does an excellent job replacing the bearings on these old #1623 riveted pulleys. See vendor section for more information on his repair service! i had to take off the hydro pump and the hydro pump brAcket to get the belt guard off! I was surprised ho we’d good the drive belt looked after four years! Not changing it! The old pulley was noisy and the bearings were very rough once removed - so I used one of my rebuilt ones.

6 pointsThe good news is I have another three speed that I might be able to use parts from. Not much better shape than this one but won't be for lack of trying. Now the crappy work begins..... cleaning up this mess and see what other parts are usable. The donor tranny. A tad better but I must be a glutton for punishment! Not sure what model this is but guessing from a early to mid sixties. Will have to check some casting marks and see what @stevasaurus says. Just remembered this came off a 1055 so should be a 5049?? What say ye Dino?

6 pointsThis one just turned thirty years old.... 1990 S10.... this was a father son project that sat for many years unfinished after my son passed in 2005....last year I decided I needed to rearrange to make room for some new Horse purchases and finished it up, bittersweet but glad I did it.... my son's plan was a booming big block but since I am closing in a whole lot more years than him I slipped a 283 in so I could basically use the stock throttle body - the 6 cylinder 4.3 (267 CI) was so close it seemed like it should work fine... and it does. But the 283 SOUNDS so much better and has plenty of power for cruising the Cape occasionally. At 74 I still autocross occasionally ..since this is basically a Camaro with a square body thought it might be fun to make it go around corners....but that's for next year.

5 pointsThe "Shusher" muffler was used on the 1974 B-80 Wheel Horse tractors as an original muffler. An internal baffel quiets some of the exhaust sound. May have been used on a few more models but it is a neat little muffler with a muffled sound -more so than pepper pot types. I have on my 702 and 854 Wheel Horse , Nelson also made a similar muffler that I have one of as an example. While these are not as sought after as the illusive showerhead mufflers they are just as neat to have on a tractor in my opinion! The 1973 IPL for the No Name 8,10, 12 and 14 Wheel Horse Tractors shows this in Part 10-46 and 45 on the IPL Listing and the Shusher Muffler was listed as Part # 103055. Toro Consumer 103055 MUFFLER Still available at Partstree.com: Your price: $394.17 PRONDZY: That 856 looks great with it on there!

4 pointsThank you. My oldest son although not in this profession is a very talented woodworker who loves and shares all my love and enthusiasm for our culture and woodworking legacy. So far it also looks like he is being able to instill that in his children. They certainly are exposed to it every day and seem to have taken to it.So there is hope for two more generations for at least to carry on the knowledge of it. It is understood here and my wish that if one day he sees that no one will be interested in all of it, that all of that he and his brother inherit from me regarding woodworking specially cultural items such as this and all the family tools which I inherited are to be taken back and donated to the National Museum of Culture and Etnology. It would be of great sadness to me to have all of it sold at a garage sales or flea markets and even destroyed like it so often happens. As I myself many times browse through those sales I see so many times actual parts of peoples lives that are not understood or known about and are just discarded as nuisances or objects of clutter. Even though many of these items are no longer usable in today's society, there is much to be learned from them. Its knowledge that should not be treated that way and passed on. We cannot know exactly who and what we are unless we know what and who came before us.

4 pointsLast night it took an impact hammer to drive the frozen hitch pin out of this old parts carcass... now, here today on the 854, thing is working smooth as silk.

4 pointsIt is an oxen yoke. Where I am from is the only place in the world that has oxen yokes carved like this . This particular style is unique to my home town. Although today not really used much except for demonstrations and parades they are greatly prized for their cultural significance. I grew up exposed with to these things and they are most important to me. Even though that some are still made as tourists souvenirs in a much simpler form , this particular style fully three dimensionally carved front and back and totally functional I think I can safely say, I may be the last one on the planet doing it and ironically so very far from their origin. In another couple strokes of good fortune in my life many years ago , I was able to be instructed by a master carver and woodworker on the process to make them.Incredibly Shortly after his passing I met another elderly man who was at the time probably the last one who had made them. Not only the time I spent with him was precious in itself, but he allowed me to copy the dozens of templates he had, many from his father which interestingly had dates on them from the very early 1900s under the promise that I carry it on.So I have kept my promise and have and will carry it on. The last one was my right of passage piece. A true labor of love and it resides now in the family home of the one that inspired and influenced me in most of the work I do. The dated inscription on it, is his birth and passing year.

4 pointsGot my exhaust in a box last week and with the help of @Coulter Caleb we got it installed in about 2.5hours. It isn’t beautiful but it is much better than only the chunk of downpipe that was left... Then I assisted Caleb building this little drink table for our rec room. It was a great day with the family!

3 pointsThis time it's a transmission! This one is what I believe to be a 5007 that was attached to a 701 that Dan had. He knew I didn't have enough projects so he sandbagged me with this! Least @Achto trying to keep me out of the tavern! The big mystery was this plate on the backside of the brake shaft/mushroom gear. Savable or not?!??!? Why not I saved this one? She's a bit noisy but moves the tractor! Hold your horses Madge I'm gettin there! The deal breaker behind patch No. 1 Mushroom capped bearing was gone and this was in it's place. The worse part is the bearing bore is egg shaped and chewed up. To solve this the mystery mechanic tried to shim or fill in the slop in the bore to hold the bushing into place with some kind of material. Interesting I found many other places in the steering gear on this tractor where said PO used brass sheets stuffed in wallowed out holes so he must of fairly adept at this type of repair. Gotta give the PO credit for trying I guess even though it was a ill thought out repair! Sadly the bore is beyond repair now and the short side case is now a boat anchor. Some kind of bushing on the mushroom gear adds insult to injury!

3 pointsLoaded up the Cargo Pro trailer with it's first WH for a ride back to Maine. This one will be at the Meet & Greet without all it's sheet metal, just didn't want it to miss out on all the fun.

3 pointsMy shop is climate controlled, whatever the climate is sort of controles what it is like inside. I keep track of mice with glue traps and only keep fuel in the I am likely to use. All others are drained of fuel and run until they run out. Every drop of gas is non-ethanol treated with SeaFoam and I don't store more than five gallons of gas so it is fresh when used.

3 pointsI have an ultra rare blood type, RO. The R makes it extra special. I make a point to donate a double red every 16 weeks. I consider it a fair trade... an hour of my time and some blood shed for a comfy seat, Orange Juice and cookies!

3 pointsOY, thats an evil lookin one! Could that case half be bored and a larger OD bushing pressed in, or arent these cases too hard to come by? You guys ever try citric acid for de-rusting? Cheap, goes a long way, works incredible, and if you dip your fingertip in and try it, it tastes like a sour patch kid lol. (try this BEFORE dipping parts, not after)

3 pointsThanks for the heads up on that connector. Now that we know there are no serious issues we’ll go over the whole machine. I’m pretty sure we’ll find a bunch more little things that need correcting. My son will probably keep this one. The deck is in great shape and the snowblower shouldn’t take too much to get going.
