9 pointsHi all, first thing I should say is I know nothing about Wheel Horse (sorry!). I have an old Wheel Horse Charger 12 in my garden here in the UK. Is there any demand for parts for these in the UK? One problem I have is that the Wheel Horse is bigger than the gap out of the garden so it would need to be dismantled to be removed. I have put photos on here. Is anyone interested? I can put more photos up if required.

9 pointsThe K241 engine on my 1967 Wheel Horse is original. It has about 1,500 hours on it. Runs like new, starts fast, no smoke, good power, no leaks, always maintained. I have replaced the head gasket, cleaned the cylinder head, replaced the condenser and points and cleaned the carburetor all over the last five years. Oil is always full. My question - is there further preventative maintenance that should be done to the bearings, seals, or internal rods/gears? I’m not sure I am skilled enough to do anymore than I‘ve already done, but I’m not reluctant to take it to an engine shop if there is more that should be looked at.

8 pointsStarting to get back into project mode after screwing up 3 discs in my lower-back . That's why I haven't been around much . A fella at work used this saw 3 times and put it away 10 years ago with ethanol based fuel in it . Went to start it this year and the obvious happened .. NOTHING . He went and bought a brushless Milwaukee and GAVE me this . Yes , I know it's a cheapie but the price was right . Had about 180 lbs of cylinder pressure so I rolled up my sleeves and got busy . Needed : New fuel lines and fuel filter . New air-head tube New air filter boot Carb rebuild Primer bulb Spark plug Got her running like a champ !

7 pointsWell got me 520-8 and she is pretty always wanted 520 with 8 speed ,almost to pretty mow with but I have really nice 42 inch deck so probally work it a little now and then 714 hours not to bad

7 pointsWell I have finished with all the painting I am going to do to this. Came out ok. Wheel weights I picked up for it are painted and installed. Still have to drop the deck and change the oil but for the most part its done. No harm to it when the guy crashed it into the Lambert. I want to see it with the snow blower attached. Tractor runs great. If it wasnt so big I would consider keeping it. Here is a before pic and then the finished photos.

6 pointsThat is a Toro/Wheel Horse add on lawn watering attachment. Turn on the blades and turn on the water. Drive around your yard for complete and even watering. DON'T RUN OVER THE HOSE!

6 points@Ed Kennell I wont do anything with that pedal car. I have done some in the past. I show a few pictures of a Super Sonic Jet I did. I had to sell it when I finished my cancer treatments. Was almost a year I went without working. Being in the hospital from my surgeries and the follow up treatments emptied my bank account. I had to sell most of them. This one was special to me as I most likely will never find another. Kids painted it over at some point. I brought it back to life.

5 pointsI’ve been wanting a short frame automatic for a while. This 877 showed up on Marketplace and I had to get it. I really like the wood grain decals and the 8 hp with s/g . I got it home and rebuilt the carb. Then found out the vacuum fuel pump was clogged up too. Got it cleaned out and it fired up. Today we changed the trans fluid and took it for a test drive. It worked great. Mason drove it up a hill to see how the hst worked. It had no issues. A full restoration is in its future. IMG_4677.MOV

4 pointsI knew it!!! I bet this is one ultra rare tractor/deck combo worth zillions 🤣 ! Might just retire on the sale of this one

4 pointsMy old Ford LGT had a wash out. Used it for one summer after each mowing. Made a huge mess where I used it then I got to replace all the spindle bearings which were new just before that and greased properly. Took it off and never used one again. Just my $0.02

4 pointsWhen it comes to gravel driveway maintenance the mid-mount grader blade is a great tool. Any snow accumulation more than a couple inches will probably not work out because the front tires will compact the snow too much making the blade skip over it.

4 pointsWhen we came home, few delivery‘s was laying arround. i looked the first Package and found a new Toy. Just for my private purposes i decide i will do a test for myself. The last Tool i purchased from same Noname Brand was a Accu Grinder, what really impresses me until now. With fully charged Original Makita Batterypack (3Ah) i was able to work close 2h of continousely cutting some Steelparts (5mm in thickness) i compared it with a buddy in the Office, where we did that Challenge together, to find out, what that cheap machine can do. That impresses me for a Price of only 36€ - He uses a original makita is pricey located at 220€ and won‘t beat that cutting time much ( just 30 sec. More) i can do. The Haptic was similar, even the Weight. Both seems in quality similar, just the color and the Blade mounts differs. Mine have only an18mm collar screw and need‘s an Adapter ring for Standard 115mm suicide Blades. after that Challenge i be brave and ordered another machine - an Impact wrench - for dang Cheap 28€.. I Though for 28€ it will be sure just any cheap crap, but however, let‘s have a look to it and i ordered it. it shall be also compatible to Makita Battery‘s, i had a bunch of them, so i decided last time with the grinder i will have a look for some more tools for them. It‘s very heavy and feels like a high quality Tool. The Handling responses very well balanced and the Battery fit‘s perfect. I‘m again impressed about that Company. Especially for that Price they offered that Machines. When it‘s the same quality as my Grinder i don‘t need more Machine for just private use. The shaft is for 1/2“ Tools and snap perfectly in them, when it reaches it‘s given 520 nm, that is quite another handy Tool unbeatable in pricerange. Brushless motor, exact working Trigger throttle. just another Label and nobody will believe it‘s not a original Makita. it seems it‘s from the same Manufacture as original Makita‘s came from, maybe B Ware. But i can deal with for that Price.

3 pointsBought this 312 recently to clean up an sell. Came with something Ive never seen on a WH deck before. A wash out port. Is this factory or a previous owners custom add-on?

3 pointsNot knowing the size of your garden gate, hopefully just the front spindles, rear tires and fender pan being removed might make it squeeze through? Is there an option to lift it over?

3 pointsI'm quite sure that there will be interest in your tractor. A heads up to @Mickwhitt, @Stormin, @meadowfield Or if you guys know others that may be interested.
-
3 pointsSo, you have an accomplice, nice! I love that attitude Jeff. When my wife and I bought this house 39 years ago, the previous owners left behind an old Hoosier cabinet, not perfect but gently used and still pretty nice. We cleaned it up and use it for storage in our dining room every day. I feel like that cabinet belongs here, and if everything goes as well as I hope, it will stay here for the next owners when we move out. -------- Nice job guys, for saving this tractor and attachments for another life!
-
3 pointsYou’re right. I’ve been talking with Terry. I’m going to get the whole set. Mason is getting good at backing the trailer behind the house. He has only has a few inches on each side of trailer after he gets around the side. There is a fence and air conditioning unit to get past. It’s tough without side mirrors . Hopefully there will be a Big Show next year and Mason will be cruising the 877 on Cruise night.

3 pointsSo after my good score yesterday on the dump cart and tool box I thought I would go back for more. Today I picked up these 2 Kennedy Boxes and a pedal car. Some of you might remember I used to have a pretty big pedal car collection, but had to sell many of them when I got out of the hospital. This one is no beauty queen but its all original. Now I have more tool boxes then tools. Only one goodie was in these boxes.

3 pointsTheres nothing like the bark of a single cylinder engine under a heavy load. Wait til you hook a plow to her and she STILL doesn't hardly grunt. Disappointing yet fascinating at the same time haha. There is most definitely a power difference in the modern engines versus the old iron. Pretty sure these old Kohlers would drag a lot of the new machines around the yard backwards.
-
3 pointsthis little machines go definitely far until they reach their limits. Compared with my 212 i need at least 1/2 the throttle to do the same Cut. To be fair, my 212 have a 42“Deck and the 656 have a 36“Deck. but on the 212 i must ride with 2 speed of 5 and the 656 can be used on 2 speed of 3. However, felt the 656 do the job quicker, but definitely with less Fuelconsumption. I like the Torque on the Tecky even on lower throttle compared to my 212 Horse with a Swaped 16HP Engine. Also on steeper hills the Tecky shows it‘s torque more impressive. This difference is the most impressive, than i never can imagine before. As you allready mentioned it‘s a compare between Horses and Pony‘s. It takes just 1 Mowerday, to changed my beloved Machine now to my new to me 656 Horse. Love the Seattime on it, even on Trailrides. so have a lot of Fun and Seattime with your‘s

3 pointsHere's my 10 HP dealing with some hood high grass... No problem with deck at highest setting and going in 1st gear... So...They can take a lot...
-
3 pointsI don't really think any of us know as they seem to know no limits on a fine runner. Usually run out of traction way before power! Tell you what push it then report back to us!
-
3 pointsThank you for all of the support! This place is great! I live that two tone seat and definitely need to order one. I do love the patina rat rad look and also love restomods. I'm still torn on what I'm going to do with it. I know I will love it no matter what type of restoration I do and grab another one when this one is finished.

2 pointsIf it runs great leave the valves alone you could set them too loose or tight and develop a tick or a stutter. Leave them alone!
-
2 pointsThis is a very reliable drain plug! The Kohler Command on the 5xi tractors use this type of tool-less drain plug. On my 518xi and 520xi I never had a problem with leakage, and at the point I sold them they were 19 and 17 years old. As you can see in the photo, they do draw dirt but you could attach a small hose to divert the used oil when an attachment is in the way.
-
2 pointsUse it and enjoy it and don't worry about it, check the oil, use ngk plugs and keep the gas fresh. Looks like you know how to take of it, it's spotless!
-
2 pointsIn my opinion most small engine/outdoor equipment shops won't do anything that you couldn't do yourself. Most would be afraid to touch a 53 year old tractor unless they were replacing EVERYTHING! Valve adjustment isn't too hard to do, removing and replacing the hood, air cleaner etc. to get at them is more work than the adjustment. May want to replace the crankcase ventilation filter while you are in there. Posting # 31 of this thread excelant thread by @prondzy shows the valve area, your valve tappets are adjustable so you don't have to remove the valves, much simpler.
-
2 pointsI would possibly be interested , not too far away from you , I’m in Bridgwater Somerset .
-
2 pointsI have one of those for cleaning up light storm damage. DONT leave fuel in the tank..... LOL.... the cheap chinese plastic swells and you CAN NOT get the gas cap off without mechanical assistance, I believe they now sell non-absorbable caps but I just dump all the fuel in my mine much more effective. Other than that has been a great little saw for small limbs etc. Mike B
-
2 pointsGreat deal and save on the saw. I haven't had a fuel issue with my saws, mowers, washer, generator, boat or atv since I went with non ethanol 93 octane fuel with Seafoam and a premium 2 stroke oil where required. I leave my equipment tanks full and for 8-9 years have had no internal carb issues. Might just be lucky but I know what my experience has been.
-
2 pointsThat's what I was thinking. Great in theory, but the reality is not so much.
-
2 pointsI have 5 Wheelhorse tractors all with aftermarket belts. All with no issues. You need to compare the belt you get with the old belt. The belt looked to short. The belt should be 5/8" x 82" You don't have to have an OEM belt.
-
2 pointsA wash and wax along with a dash decal from @Vinylguy will make it look lie new. Mason is "The Man" if he can back a trailer at his age.
-
2 pointsYes, the older IH built Cub Cadet garden tractors were well built. As was about all of the 60 and early 70s garden tractors of any brand, including Sears and MTD. The design philosophy and marketing strategy was intended for equipment and machinery to last a lifetime. Also, home owners were more into having small gardens, doing their own yard work, snow removal, etc. As much as I like the older IH built CCs, having owned a flock of them in the past, I could have made some suggestions to the designers and engineers who designed them. But, I can make that statement to all the manufacturers of that day and today's machinery as well. As much as I like my older Farmall F-Cubs, I do have some complaints on accessibility and design of them as well. And btw, that is a nice job you did. Hats off to a job well done.
-
2 pointsReally @ebinmaine ? This is the first one I ever had. I was going to say that if you like Wheel Horses you have to like this old Cubs. They are a lot alike. The ease of changing attachments is where Wheel Horse pulls away in my opinion. Both are over built, both run the same Kohlers. I really do like this tractor. I have my eye on another... has a 14hp Kohler and a hydro. We will see.
-
2 pointsBack over the border to do more cladding. First though a pile of dirt to move from the yard. While Dunc got the tractor and trailer, I drove the digger up to the yard. Never operated a digger since I sold mine about 15yrs ago. 1-1/2 loads and the yard was cleared and levelled. Took the digger back down to the soon to be main workshop, then trailer was loaded with boards and taken up to the carport. Third bay was finished by lunch time. Photo' was taken before we started. After lunch we started on the back gable end. Hopefully get that finished tomorrow and make a start on the other side. It's a grand way to spend a Bank Holiday weekend.
-
2 pointsDibs on the first request then. That sprayer is a c-note or more new without the cart, and new electric pumps are available and usually need replaced if the unit is not properly cleaned out. i have a C-i41 auto and a ten Hp would go along nicely with that. The beast will be on the road by then for the 220 mile trip.

2 pointsJeff, you are an incredible dude bro, nothing but an inspiration to all of us on this forum! We are truly blessed to have you here in the fold, congrats on your latest W-H score!

2 pointsand like @Tractorhead said, enjoy some seat time- these machines LOVE to be taken on a cruise now and again.
