11 pointsI’ve had a “parts” 520H for yearsssssss and decided this spring to see I could get it going and use it around our farm to mow around barns and buildings and other chores. Nothing to loose, worse case, still a parts tractor. Replacement front tire/rim, new fuel line, plugs, engine and tranny oil/filters. Air in the tires... and a 42 inch rear discharge deck. Knock on wood, seems to run great. One question... I have two other 520H tractors. One after Toro bought them and one before with the straight front axle. The older one has a different engine sound than the later Toro 520H. Both cylinders are firing, no issues there. The later model has more of a sweet throaty sound. The older one in some ways sounds like any other garden tractor. Were there different muffler internals on the 520H models over the years of production that would account for this sound difference? This 520H I just got going is a Toro Wheelhorse, but an older model. It sounds exactly like the oldest Wheelhorse from above, the one with a straight axle. Seems to rune fine, fires off first crank. Just doesn’t have that throaty sound my later model 520H has. Here is a video of the whole resurrection and ending with mowing. I can’t hear anything that would tell me it’s running on one cylinder, but maybe you can. I think it’s OK, thought I’d ask. By the way, I use to be a regular poster, going back to the Yahoo group days. I’ve been up to my ears with this farm, but am hoping to get in more Wheelhorse time and will have plenty of videos as time unfolds. Enjoy the Wheelhorse video and if you like farming videos (mostly cutting/square baling hay), check out some of those. Thanks! Bill

9 pointsWell I have to thank @arrkerr for dealing with me and being patient also @pullstart Kevin as we were trying to set something up too .Arrkerr placed a ad in the classifieds for a free C101 with a front mounted Mighty Mac chipper, a Agri-Fab sprayer and a WH cart his father bought new with the tractor. Bonus was it close to me , only 30-40 minutes away . Well I did what every addic would do with to many tractors I PM”ed him as fast as I could . Then it was like ok dumbarsh how you going to pull this off without my son and wife knowing. Made all my normal calls for help and it was a no go from everyone for at least a week . Called him back and told him what was up and he said no biggie , they just have to be gone by Labor Day . He also said he was feeling the pressure from the wife that the tractor better not be showing up in their shed either . Well yesterday was the day everything worked out and I didn’t get caught . His dad did keep the cart and homemade weights but you can’t argue with free and with a tlc I think it’s a runner. The chipper is froze up but looks like the mount is made for the tractor and the sprayer needs tubes and hoses.

6 pointsWelcome back! Looking forward to the pics. 16 is more rare than 10 or 12. Kohler 12 should slide right in where the 16 is. Just be sure the replacement engine is a Wheelhorse spec so it'll handle side load from PTO. I have no knowledge of FB or others. Redsquare is the ONLY social media site I use.

5 pointsI just got back from Bud Andrews place in Trout Run, Pennsylvania where I picked up a WT-244 Wheel Horse tiller for Jeremy Deal in Orlando, Florida. Jeremy bought this as his first attachment for his 1961 701 Wheel Horse. When the tiller was posted for sale in Pennsylvania I contacted Jeremy and said this was the nicest one of these I have seen. He was interested in it but could not justify the transport . I said why not contact Bud Andrews and see if he would pick it up and store until we could get it either this year or maybe next years Big Show. Jeremy contacted Bud and he picked up for him in July . I told Bud I probably would be able to pick it up so yesterday we did! By Andrews and I just volunteering for another Wheel Horse owner! Rodney Burger will pick up at my place in Greencastle, Indiana and get it to Jeremy 9 months before next years Big Show! So three Red Square guys I loved in this transaction! I will post some pics and pics of a New Old Stock gas tank/motor cover for the Lawson motor , an air cleaner, and two NOS belts he got with it. I think Jeremy has a very nice show piece attachment for his 701!

4 pointsHello All, Hope everyone is well... traded my future bro in law a high end mountain bike for a 312-8 with a 48" plow and a tow behind cart. That was a few months back... My sis sent this video... yah its crummy, but she says he's having a ball cleaning up a pair of large pine trees that fell during the last storm. She also said that he has told her that "this thing is a tank..." Another guy that will not drive anything other than a WH now---mission accomplished! Tony 141589.3gp

3 points@WHX24 I did what you said and figured I had nothing to loose. I took it all apart and was able to clean the nasty tar like stuff off the diaphragm with wax and grease remover. It runs great now. It doesn’t crank , it fires right up . IMG_4663.MOV

3 pointsGot the tyre off the front wheel today. Then, like the rear, got a bit of a clean up. The spokes and the hubs are going to take some work and time, to clean up and re-paint. Brake plates got finished.

3 pointsDoing a mow- job today 😂😂😂😂😂 had some seattime. yap, like my horse how it performs after changing few Things. It is Funny to mow firstly in 2 speed and after a carefully turn shift (without any noise) in 3 speed and pull the trigger and fly over the Grass, what‘s been mowed perfectly behind me. The light sirring noise of the mowerblade sounds like a small roots.. love that sound.- what a Funny Ride. After the mow- job i decide to change the tie rods. Because i see they get more and more play, so i built myself 2 tie rods made from M10 stainless threaded rod i have allready. The heim joints must be still adjusted, but on right side i made the tie rod a bit too long, so i have to cut it down tomorrow. Heeey it‘s a horse, is that a required Gadget for it... 😂😂😂😂😂

2 pointsAgreed. I've been a big fan of GT since about 1985 or 86. That was one of the BMXs I had back then.

2 pointsIs the metal on the center of the wheel cracked? Or did it just bend, and the paint cracked? Hard to tell from the pic. Glad to hear you got it straight though. Hopefully he comes back for the Cub. Would add insult to injury if he didn't buy anything after all that. At least he maned up and offered to pay for the rim, very stand-up thing to do. As others have said, I typically know if I'm going to buy before I go or not. My last buy (the Lawn Ranger), I went there not only knowing I was going to buy. I even went with more cash than the original price we settled on, as I felt it was too low after sleeping on it. Turned out good though as he threw in extra parts, and we all walked away happy, him with extra money, and me with extra WH stuff.

2 pointsWhat are your Tradition‘s? As we helped moves the Sohn to his new Home, we celebrate his Birthday. Ok, so far everything ain‘t funny, but there is no Fun without Tradition‘s. We have to prepare a part of the Tradition, what meant‘s here, if you not married until you‘r 30. Birthday, you must sweep down the Town Hall stairs. All his Friends together with us developed a Plan. We collected a bit over 2000 Bottlecaps he must sweep with an „official brewery apprentice broom“ i built. His friends ordered a nice Unicorn Costume and... This are just the first part of the Collection... Let‘s have a look ahead... 😂 And a look ahead on the „official brewery apprentice broom“ 😂😂😂🥳 but wait for the Pictures, i will sended later on... But ok, what about your funny Tradition‘s

2 pointsMy C-165 has a 13 inch steering wheel which I find comfortable and looks right. My Wheelie Horse has a deep 9 inch with a quick release mount https://www.speedwaymotors.com/shop/steering-wheels-and-components~6-15-576

2 pointsI'm guessing that you are dealing with a Briggs engine. Is there any chance that the starter drive gear is bad? The drive gear is plastic and has a bad habit of wearing down & jamming on the fly wheel.

2 pointsJonah, a radiant slab is more efficient and comfortable than forced air, hands down! A boiler will indirectly heat the water heater tank plus act as the slab heater, with zone control.
