14 pointsI've been wanting a low rider cart for a while and this one popped up semi-local No rot. Just some nice rust so I don't mind tossing limbs and junk in it. Grease-able wheels. Gate is stuck on but it tries to move. I need to fix the tires slow leak. They have tubes. The bottom is pretty well preserved.

9 pointsLast week while on vacation we rented a pontoon boat so that all 10 of us in our group could go for a cruise on the Burnt Rollways reservoir. We started out on the Eagle River chain in Eagle River WI. After crossing the 7 lakes on the Eagle River Chain we came to a dam where some would think that our journey would come to an end. Instead we paid the $15 round trip fee to have the boat transported to the Three Lakes chain on a lift that has been in service since 1950 and continued our journey across 4 more lakes before turning around and making our return trip. Thought that some of you may like to see some pictures of this 70yr old boat lift in action. These picture are of the boat being lowered back down to the Eagle River chain on our return trip. The operator instructs you as you use poles to move your boat on to the lift. Once your boat is positioned the operator uses electric winches raise the boat out of the water. Electric motors drive the wheels on the lift to move the boat lift on the rails to cross the road. The boat is then lowered into the water on the other side of the road / dam so that you may continue your journey. We were in absolutely no hurry, in fact I don't think that we ever opened the motor up to see what it would do. According to the GPS we covered a little over 60 miles on our 10hr trip. It was a fun relaxing day. Besides the nature scenes along the way we also saw this interesting pirate ship that belongs to a tavern in Eagle River. It sails 2 to 3 times per day to take guests on a tour of the lakes. Sorry for the poor pic, I was fighting the sun set that was in front of us.

9 pointsWhile my Sisters watched the TV and yelled instructions, I went out on the back porch with the antenna rotator and aimed it towards Johnstown,Pa or Baltimore,Md. The only two stations we could get. The antenna rotator.

7 pointsWhen I was seven years old (1952) my family bought our first TV set, boy was I excited! It was delivered on the first day of the 1952 political conventions which were being covered by both of the TV stations we received at the time, boy was I disappointed! The upcoming political conventions brought this memory back, and NO, I won't be watching them now, old wounds go deep!

7 pointsI grabbed this Toro lawn tractor from the FREE pile. 48" cut, 20hp Kohler single cylinder engine, 296hrs on the clock. If it's free you don't ask, right?? When I got it home I figured out why it was free. #1 - Either mice chewed a hole into the side of the block or #2 - It had thrown a rod. Turns out that it was #2. Did some research, found out that this Kohler engine is known for this issue after the block cracks by the motor mounts & the oil runs out. New Kohler short block was too expensive ($500+) plus why repeat the issue. I replaced the whole engine with a Loncin 18.75hp $420 to my door. The only alteration that I had to do was to re-index the mounting flange on the exhaust head pipe. Total of 5hrs work into the tractor including top to bottom clean up. Sold it in less than 2hrs after completion & put a few bucks in my tractor fund.

7 points@pullstart looks like you need to quit buying for a while and start fixing.

7 pointsI never parented a Monarch, but the wild transients are really busy taking on fuel from my butterfly bush.

7 pointsWell since this went political, here we go. I don't believe in everything Warren Buffet says and does, but I do believe this is the answer to the disfunction we have in our federal and state governments.

7 pointsAs a kid with a lawn mowing business(1986) I loaded my Work Horse GT-1800 in and out of my 1968 K20 Chevrolet 4x4 countless times with ramps. Not long after I became a heavy equipment operator and I would load and unload excavators, bulldozers etc on 20ton beaver tail trailers. Lowboy trailers were easy to load onto because they are pretty much on the ground and you really can’t flip over. Long story short after many years of that, I was unloading a GT-1848 that was given to me off the side of a 15 ton trailer. Steel ramps and steel trailer. As I backed off the trailer one of the ramps slipped out from under me the next thing I knew was the tractor was flipping over on me. I was able to push myself away as it came down and not get injured too bad. It scared the crap out of me. Moral of my story is never become complacent because you never know!

6 pointsMmm.. the venerable LB Silver Series. Shunned by the purists. That's a Tecumseh engine.. Good little mower but not as loveable as the 2 stroke .. IE, balky, noisy, and smokey.. haha. Before I saw the photo i thought you were talking about a Model M Lawn Boy.. those were 2 cycle with separate gas and oil tanks, they were oil injected like a modern snowmobile.. Not much for yard sales this year in Maine.. too many nervous I suppose. Though funny enough I did drop by one on my way to work today and saved this elderly little GE Vacuum.. I'm a sucker for early vacuums .. no pun intended .. and own several, amongst other appliances..

6 pointsOrganize, make a mess, repeat. ‘Cept I’m better at the mess, not so better at organize. Sorting and compiling all the projects. It’s exciting yet saddening, there is so much to do it seems. The engine in Poppy the 552 needs to go to Uncle Jim’s. I think I might get the sickle bar put back to DB parts only and scrap the Jari bar... reassemble on Steve and send it down the road ( @bottjernat1 ) without the engine possibly. I think Rylee wants the front ag tires and I’ll toss some turfs on the rear.

6 pointsI just thought i would share the best times in my life besides my wife and 3 daughters and grand baby. I use to show off draft horses Belgium and Percheron mare horses. My late grandpa John Galloway was the best grandpa in the hole world I miss him everyday, He was one of those guys that everyone when they meet him once wouldn't forget him. The stories I have about him. LOL My first year I won best in showmanship. I did 4-h till i couldnt anymore. Some of the best times in my life. The first photo was my grandpa . He was the trucking manager when group dekko had a trucking department. In the other 2 i am the one with the big belt buckle and cowboy hat. I was in 2 local papers a couple years in a row and for nothing bad. LOL

5 pointsI love garage sales..... Got the Simplicity at a garage sale. He only wanted 25 bucks for it, but after he saw how hard I had to work to get it into my truck he gave it to me. All 4 tires were flat and coming off the rims. Couldnt bring my truck to the tractor. I had to drag it about 70 yards to the street. then get it up ramps into my truck with all 4 tires coming off. Got the Troy - Bilt rototiller and the Snapper 2 cycle snow thrower for 40 bucks at another sale.

5 pointsI don't know Richard those don't seem to be crusty! Now this one..... Well....it's got a nice seat! When I snapped that pic it was before I met Richard and thought who is the crusty old fart driving that thing!?!?!? Guess what!!!!!!!

5 pointsAh, the good old days when ya had to actually get up off the couch to change the channel and fiddle around with the tin foil on the rabbit ears

5 pointsI NEVER.ride a tractor up ramps, especially into a pick up truck.I use 1st gear low range for standard shift.Very small ammount of motion control lever for hydro's.Very low throttle.I walk along side the tractor.Flipped one over yrs ago and kinda learned my lesson.Yeah right.I'll never learn.
-
5 pointsI don't have the standard pin on any of my tractors. I use an agricutural tractor trailer pin. A few thou' less in diameter than the standard pin and quicker to remove than the standard fitted with circlips. Has a lynch pin on the other end of the chain through the pin end.

4 pointsSo I have been going garage saling since last year. And my wife was totally against it till she started finding stuff for our girls and grand baby. Anyways here are 2 items i bought dirt cheap. This old sears/craftsman kerosene can and a lawn-boy that is oil and gas seperate. I didnt know they made a push mower like this. I got it running but only for a couple seconds. I took the carb off and it was beyond fixing. It is by far the worst looking carb ever! So i bought a newone should be here before the weekend. I did pretty good i thought. $2 for the can and $15 on the pushmower. I did change the oil and sharpened the blade on the lawn-boy just waiting on the carb now. What crazy garage sale finds have you all ran into this year?

4 points.... I know my 702 should have no bump on the small end and my 856 has additional three ribs . So looking through photos of original tractors that’s correct for 1963-65 tractors but can used on any k-181 besides the double pulley used for the 701 . Not sure if the k-161 is any different. ... anyone know?

4 pointsAfter my rigid frame mini bike & then my Rupp mini bike w/ front & rear suspension, a gun metal gray w/ a red stripe '75 XR75 was my first dirt bike. Also had a grey Honda Elsinore MT250 of the same vintage. Other dirt bikes that I had were a Susuki RM125, Honda CR125, a couple of CR250's and a CR500. The CR500 was a crazy powerful bike that only weighted 30lbs more than a CR250. I've never bought a new bike but the world sure was a much smoother place when I got my first CR dirt bike with mono shock rear suspension. Even though he gave me my first mini bike, my dad was not a big motorcycle fan but said "I'm not going to tell you what to do with your money". So I threw a lot of hay bales & pitched a lot of manure for neighborhood farms to earn money for my bikes. I think it's great that Josh supports the hobbies that his kids want to try. I'm also happy to give Judge a starting point & interested to see if he chooses to work his way up to newer, bigger, better bikes. The only dirt bike left in my garage is an '81 XR80 that I passed on to my son for his 10th birthday. Holly crap , just realized that was 20yrs ago!!

4 pointsFrugal might be a better word for me Joe. Building inspectors be dammed around here we don't have them unless you are gonna live in it. We are supposed to get a town permit for anything permanent just so they can reasess yer property and raise the property tax for improvements. Can't do that for a fake garage.... in this township anyway. So after a hour waiting on hold while I took care of business I finally said to heck with it and hung up on them. After reading some negative reviews I pretty much guessed I was gonna draw a flunky in a cubicle some wher and come up empty anyway. Heck with them I'm ripping it down and putting up a man barn. One guy wrote on their site here I sit with a big erector set! Now I don't read just all the negative reviews but even the positive ones were somewhat hokey. Turns out they offer different weight covers with different warranties... guess I shoulda researched the options for pulling the trigger on this POS from Northern. My bad. The biggest beef is why sell this crap in the first place? Just be honest and say hey you'll be lucky to get two out of this and upsell?

4 pointsMan that is scary, glad you’re ok! It’s happened to me with atv’s, don’t want to imagine dropping a big horse over! I usually do the @Pollack Pete trick and walk alongside. Works great for the 6/8 speeds and hydros. Had an 8/4speed come up once, it slipped then grabbed, luckily came back down with the front tires in the bed. Never rode one up the ramps again. It’s eye opening how fast things can go wrong. Many years ago my dad was unloading a dozer (can’t remember the details but it was a turbo diesel 6 and big!) in snow/ice. He was pulled on the roadside on a slight angle, fired up, clicked in reverse and it instantly slid sideways, dropped one track off the trailer and into the ditch and tipped over. He jumped clear but still got bruised up. To this day loading and unloading equipment makes him uneasy. Just when you think you’re safe, you’re not. Be careful!

3 pointsYard sales this year? Hasn't the govt made it illegal to sell your belongings to strangers and friends at a discounted price from your home without a license while not collecting sales tax and said it was for Charmin-getton/ beer flu? Anyways.i can't say I've been to one lately but I did hit a junk shop a few weeks back. Found this for $25

3 pointsIf your tractors are original, and in good shape, and run well....I would not waste the time to retro-fit that engine to any of them....find a late 80's Tractor with a bad engine, and go from there...Way less headaches and keeps original machines ORIGINAL !! Just my opinion,... They are original only once and retain more Horse trading value when in that form john

3 pointsMissed all this while being away. Your certainly building quite a collection, Dan. Have you heard of the Border Reivers? Used to raid over the border and steal cattle and HORSES. Maybe I should revive the pursuit.

I have had to move my biggest shed already my mother in law decided to sell her house after my father in law died. So now my biggest one sits on my biological cousins property. It is a barn style 10x16 cost me around 3g. Lifetime warranty on the roof and door hidges. My other big one is a 12x24 with a reinforced floor and double loft as well. that one i paid cash for 6,300. They are well built by the amish. Here is my one I have at home. I built this tough a$$ workbench to. You could put a 427 on this sucker. i didnt mess around building my bench
