11 pointsYes Carolina Carports did an excellent job for me for the price...and it's snow load and wind rated $1300 as you see it

11 pointsI dug through my garage to see if I had a '36 Knuckle laying around. Unfortunately all I found was a '38 Knuckle, & that was only a photograph of one.

10 pointsIt is hard to quantify all that this community means to so many...I have witnessed all kinds of selfless acts of friendship from those who were at one point total strangers, yet as a result of commitment to a little red and white tractor, the become friends. Six years ago, I couldn’t have picked Dan @Achto out of a lineup if someone was forcing me to but today he did such a special kindness for my third born that it brings me to tears as I type this post. Judge is a good kid, mild mannered, and much quieter than his older siblings. However, loves all things mechanical and having just turned 10 years old started to express the desire to purchase a mini bike/dirt bike. We started looking around for one but weren’t having any luck finding the right fit for a reasonable price. Those that we found, sold before we could bring the cash. A few weeks ago I mentioned it to the Local Circle at the Symco tractor show. Dan grabbed me and said he might have something for Judge. I make longer story short, he showed up today with a very special gift for Judge... This is a 1977 Honda and I’ll let Dan fill you in as to the backstory but suffice it to say, Judge is overjoyed. My favorite moment was when Dan asked him what he would give for it. Judge answered “$600.” Dan responded, “lower.” Judge, “$400” Dan, “lower” Judge, “$200” Dan, “lower” Judge, “$50” Dan, “lower” Finally Judge got the picture and realized it was a gift from Dan to him. ❤️ He couldn’t wait to ride it and as he strapped on his helmet, Dan gave him some instructions. Of course he killed it on his first attempt but the second one, he was out and rolling. Granted, he has never driven a clutch vehicle and it will take him some practice to get comfortable but we all had to start somewhere ourselves. Before long he was looking the part and ready to tear up my already anemic looking yard 😂 Dan, I can’t express how grateful we are to you for this act of kindness and will be sure to “pay it forward”. I know that Jonathan, for one (me too), will never forget this as long as he lives. We would’ve gladly paid you for this sweet little bike but are so thankful for your generosity. Once again, Red Square is a great forum and not just for tractors, for friendships... @WHX24, @Coulter Caleb, @stevasaurus, @Shynon, @pullstart, @19richie66, @WVHillbilly520H, @Vinylguy, @prondzy, @Sparky, @AMC RULES, @953 nut, @ebinmaine, and the list could go on and on of those of you who have done special kindnesses for me and or my family through the short 6 years that I have been a member here. I can’t thank you enough one and all🤗 Never underestimate the power you have to make someone’s day, week, month, or year!

10 pointsAs someone who works in the motorcycle industry, this is the kind of stuff that I love to see. For the general public who don't ride and aren't around motorcycles often when you mention a motorcycle rider many are quick to jump to biker gangs, hooligans doing tricks on the street, and the like. However what I have found is that those people are the minority. The vast majority of motorcycle riders are friendly, supportive, and generous people. Go to any motorcycle event and they are always raising money for charity, especially for charities that support what I like to call the Big 3 which is Children, Pets, and the Armed Forces. These are the three groups that motorcycle riders support time and time again. So that all being said, @PeacemakerJack I'd like to get in on the giving spirit as well. My company makes high performance oils for all types of motorcycles, so if you want to send me a direct message with your address, I'd like to send you and Judge some oils for the bike. And @Achto for someone who embodies the generosity of motorcycle riders everywhere I'd like to include you in on this offer as well, send me a direct message with your address and what bike you would like some oils for and I will send it on it's way.

9 pointsI have quit watching the morning news because it is an awfl way to start my day. Coming to Red Square restores my faith in the generosity and love that is in this world. Thanks to Dan and so many others who help put a smile on my face each morning. Happy Birthday Judge!
-
9 pointsFirst off Judge and enjoy your first dirt bike !!! This group of people here on simply amazes me with all the generous acts I’ve seen over the years . Dan you didn’t just make Judge and Josh’s day but mine and probably others too .

9 pointsI listened to Judge talk about wanting a mini bike and really enjoyed the enthusiasm that he was showing. It reminded me of buying my first bike and how excited I was when I purchased it. My first real motorcycle (after owning a couple mini bikes) was a 1975 XR75 that I worked my tail off to get the $100 to purchase used in 1982. That bike is long gone but I've always kept a 4 stroke 75 or 80cc Honda around, guess I just have a soft spot for the little bullet proof machines. This bike I acquired after a side line customer failed to pick it up after I told him what it all needed to be safe to ride. (Little things like replace 8 missing spokes on a loose wobbly rear rim, rear brake linkage, neck bearings) After it sat in my garage for 3yrs I decided to re-lace the rear rim and fix the necessary safety issues. Over the next 18yrs it saw limited use, usually 30 to 50hrs per year. I'm really happy to see the bike go to good home where it will be ridden and enjoyed. I also explained to Judge that once he learns how to effectively ride this bike that he will have the mechanics down to ride almost any bike made. It's not in perfect shape but it is ride-able and all of the important controls work on it. I explained to Josh & Judge that it could really use a top end rebuild as it smokes pretty bad. I'm guessing that will be a good father son project over the winter, in the mean time they should have the rest of this season to enjoy riding it. Enjoy the ride Judge!!

8 pointsWhen I was seven years old (1952) my family bought our first TV set, boy was I excited! It was delivered on the first day of the 1952 political conventions which were being covered by both of the TV stations we received at the time, boy was I disappointed! The upcoming political conventions brought this memory back, and NO, I won't be watching them now, old wounds go deep!

8 pointsThis is Rusty...my 1054A. As I understand it, these were basically an early 1965 carryover model to use up remaining 1964 1054 parts. I wish they would’ve dropped in a K301 and named them the 1255 instead...🤔 This tractor looks rough around the edges but it runs good and is a fun worker. For now it will retain its original patina but a new seat and painted rims are in its near future. Judge brings a load of sticks back to the fire pit area. Notice the 1965 original front tires and the amazingly good condition dash and steering wheel decals... This is a fun thread @12Horse Paladin! You are on the right track to setting one of these up as a plow mule. They are a great platform for that as evidenced by Shynon’s above and my dad’s tractor that I named Clyde... good luck in your pursuit...I look forward to plowing with you one day...
-
7 points@Achto .... Have I ever told you how much I would love to have a 1936 Harley Davidson Knucklehead ? Boy I get sooooo excited just thinking and talking about them. I know you cant see but I am grinning from ear to ear just thinking about riding one someday. Just thought you might like to know that ! My birthday was the 13th !!
-
7 pointsAlso replaced the broken lift cable on the plow mule.. had to take it out for a test run....put a mirror finish on the share... may have to shave in it in the morning
-
7 pointsThe under cover story Dan was just just cleaning out his shed and found the bike. Figured he got rid of it room for another round hood! Seriously now you know why I run with these !

6 pointsWe had the family there in 2018. Beautiful place...we didn’t really want to come back. What an amazing place for sure! Have a great trip and be safe. Can’t wait to see what kinda “horse” you’re bringing back from the open range!

6 pointsBought a spare deck to use on the c-120 yesterday. Only cost $35, so I couldn't get it loaded fast enough. When I got out today I tried spinning the blades by hand to get an idea id the PO ever bothered greasing it. It felt...crunchy. Then I spun it the other direction...not crunchy. I had to do a little investigation so off came the belt cover. Guess someone thought I might get hungry working and packed me a lunch! After clearing the meal, I removed and greased the tension bar/pulley, greased the spindles, and hooked it up. Works great, but the leveling foot on the top side wants to pinch the belt when the deck is raised. This deck supposedly came from a raider 12 and is supposed to use the side pulley. I'm trying to use the mule drive. Maybe i'm missing something.

5 pointsThat is such a cool looking bike, and I have to say, Judge looks great on it. Dan is special people for sure. Happy Birthday Judge. I also have stopped starting my day with the news. For me, it's "Leave it to Beaver", "Perry Mason", and "Pettycoat Junction". Then I bop down to the Man Cave and catch up with what is happening with Red Square. Be safe Judge.

5 pointsThis is a work in progress. Pickup truck load of parts and trying to turn it into something it never was meant to be.

-
4 pointsThanks Alex I went with this model as it sheds snow, quite well I might add. I don't expect them to honor the one year warranty, but perhaps a discount on a replacement but if they do nothing they will get a scathing review. If they do nothing I'll rip the durn thing down and put up a steel shed like @WVHillbilly520H has or a regular pole shed like what @rmaynard built which is what I should have done in the first place. Was just trying to get by for now still I was ready to build. I may still do that even it Logic comes through.

4 pointsI moved a lot of dirt/granite gravel with my C160 and even my C81 the last 2 years regrading the whole back and side yard over at my sons new house. Since you will be moving loose material I suggest you set the vertical blade angle (by moving the spring position) with the top slightly ahead of the bottom. Play with this spring adjustment do your blade is less aggressive (biting in) so it will slide across the existing hard gravel. Take small bites from the side of the pile. change the angle that your cutting from the side of the pile every few bites so your never trying to cut from a long face. Cutting from the side at angles keeps you from driving on the pile and backing it, which would make it harder to spread. Spread it as soon after its delivered as you can. Just a few rains will settle and pack the pile more than you think. As you backup from a push, back drag any tire spin ruts or ridges to keep your working area smooth. Once you have it spread, if you don't have a roller, you can back drag it to help pack it and smooth it. this also give you more seat time. Then, water it, packit, water it pack it. Also, this is a great project to justify buying a mid mount grader blade. You can really level and slick that drive off with a mid mount blade Have fun and enjoy lots of seat time.
-
4 pointsTwo to be made into one someday. Was going to give the leftovers to 953 nut but I think you may need them worse @oliver2-44 !
-
4 pointsSeat time or I'm telling the guys what you paid for it! I've never driven a tractor with cruise control! Id offer to take it off your hands with a small profit but I'm TRACTOR HEAVY!
-
4 pointsYou wont be able to wipe than grin off his face!! Those are a blast to ride! Have fun with it!

4 pointsIt’s great to read something positive with all the commotion going on here in the US. What a cool first bike! Mine was a rigid framed mini bike with a Briggs 5 and a rear scrub brake. The pegs were welded to the frame so a hard lean would sink em in my dads lawn and send ya flying! My brother and I quickly learned how much you could lean

3 pointsAs a kid with a lawn mowing business(1986) I loaded my Work Horse GT-1800 in and out of my 1968 K20 Chevrolet 4x4 countless times with ramps. Not long after I became a heavy equipment operator and I would load and unload excavators, bulldozers etc on 20ton beaver tail trailers. Lowboy trailers were easy to load onto because they are pretty much on the ground and you really can’t flip over. Long story short after many years of that, I was unloading a GT-1848 that was given to me off the side of a 15 ton trailer. Steel ramps and steel trailer. As I backed off the trailer one of the ramps slipped out from under me the next thing I knew was the tractor was flipping over on me. I was able to push myself away as it came down and not get injured too bad. It scared the crap out of me. Moral of my story is never become complacent because you never know!
-
3 pointsIf you back up the ramps rather than driving forward you won't have the back flip problem, just ask @rmaynard.
-
3 pointsKnow what ya mean Kev this gem popped up for 50 clams and was gone already. Very local is the sad part & Dan could have scored it after work! Yah I'm tub heavy but...... look how strait the back is!

3 pointsi love your pics; i dont think your 1054 looks rough around the edges at all, and especially like the shots of your Kiddos😊 I read that thread of your Dad's tractor Clyde a long bit ago. That was a thread, too, that made them catch my eye. That is a sharp tractor! But 'rough around the edges'...to me that's a Fine 'look' too...honest wear, n a testament of days gone by. Shoot...until i found this forum n expressed intrest to my Dad, all his, then mine, wore workclothes. Now he's even busted out a rattlecan or two, lol. In your one pic with the front tires...i love those, n have a set on my c160. But i had no idea...1965? Wow. But...those, n ags on the back, thsts what id ideally like to run on the 1054 currently only residing in my head. Just love the look of them. N how my 160 handles with them, too. As to plowing with me one day...all i can say is...wow. And thankyou. I surely would not mind that at all😊

3 points@D_Mac's post, n this one, is funny. Cuz kiddin aside, Dan, i was thinkin if i ever get my mess (you know) settled, i am/was seriously going to contact you next yr, to maybe pick your brain about somethings concering two wheels, m'self, cuz you do know your stuff.
-
3 pointsThis. Ive quit watching the news, too...sigh... Now, it's 'Paladin' , n here, with my morning coffee...☕ And id like to add my "HappyBirthday!" to Judge, as well😊

3 pointsDoes it lift OK ? Does the angle lever clear everything a work OK? That's what matters. I use the deck lift bar to lift one of my plows. I made a slotted bar like the one on the decks, but if yours lifts w/o binding, it should work. My other plow I don't use the deck lift bar. It is connected directly to the rock shaft lift lever via a chain. If you ever need or want down pressure, you would need a solid link bar from the plow to the rock shaft lever. This is the factory design.
