16 pointsWe decided to venture out to our local state park, Hungry Mother State Park, Friday evening. It had been a while and I had forgotten how beautiful it is in our part of the state. We just walked around and enjoyed the beauty. Afterwards we drove up to the summit at the border of the park for a fantastic late evening view. The next morning we went to another area in the Jefferson National Forest. Bear Tree lake. Emory’s scout troop did a short hike, had lunch, and took a little time fishing. Emory had a ball fishing even though he or none of the other kids caught a fish. He used an open reel for the first time and handled it like a pro!

12 pointsThe plowing was different than at my ranch. I have sandy loam but this was a hard pack clayish soil. I was hauling the mail till my lift cable broke .. what say ye Tom @Shynon It was the orginal '67 so it was due. No worry new one on the shelf and I know a guy. Traction sometimes an issue but dealt with it. A pic of Josh TRYING to haul the mail! Cub rims with the wrong offset... really?

10 pointsFirst off I can truly say this farm is the picture perfect image of the American Farmer. Just beautiful lands and fertile soil. @PeacemakerJack gave me the quick lowdown and will comment more. This is a farm days where Jack's uncles have been doing this for a few years now. Dan @Achto and I have never been able to make it due to conflicts with other shows but from here on this may have to trump the camping at shows! They got just a bit of everything... I'll let the pics do tje talking.

9 pointsToday i just do few orders and a bit of Reworking. Firstly i changed the Lift pin of the Mowerdeck with a chain. the reason i did this is an i like to have it more accurate in the Swing while mowing on slopes. the pendle will give it more possibillity to act, even it don‘t scratches on the Beltcover anymore. Than i searched for a better suited Spring for the Governor. Found in my spares a little smaller but stiffer one, that acts dimensios better. A much smoother throttle response was the result without oscillating rpm‘s. After that i fixed the Hoodchain again. stiffned the Oildrain pipe with an mount, that holds the Clip to keep it save even on shaking or vibrations.

8 pointsEarly morning rise to beat the heat and make some more good progress netted me this little accomplishment today. Complete with both it's belt guard... and trans mounts repaired before 8am. Sure the neighbors weren't happy listening to the grinder that early, but I sure am!

7 pointsReceived a gift from my mother today, celebrating HER birthday! I’m 25 pages in already, from the drive home. Don’t worry, the other drivers got out the way! (I was in the passenger seat)

5 pointsWalked the dogs, cut the paths on the community project, rebuilt a mower i had welded the deck on, put it on the drive for sale... A guy I met on a dog walk dropped off a few brace of wood pigeon he shot yesterday. Pan fried with roast veg that was our supper.

5 pointsStarted today a first Checkup begin with Gearoil after that i try to insert the Oildrainpipe, missed it is 1/4“ not 3/8“ as i thought. Dang, ok so it still be reworked to be tight and not leaky. than i rework the adjuster the Decklever, to use it again. was just gently rusted, maybe while on the long Trail to my Stable. Mounting a Airfilter case on rework the gouvenor To be again spring preloaded. Than Fillup Engine Oit aaaaand Here we go... 6992EA63-96AA-4DD9-95D3-3FD2A716B39D.MOV Yap, success. As a Ignition i use a simple pull push Switch, i have laying arroung, nice, because it‘s a Magneto. So it worked simply but reliable for a first Testride. Fillup the Fuel Than try how it performs while mowing. Deck was not resharpened yet for that. I‘m impressed. So much better that i ever imagine, even on higher Grass.( much better than the 212 with it‘s 16HP Engine) even on Slope you just can hear the Engine works harder, but it did it‘s Job perfectly. While refilling for a Trial thru Forrest, Mart‘l stops with his Huge Tractor near me jumps out and and inspect the Horse. “ Oh holy, is that the Thing we unloaded yesterday ? ya like it to Work eh, hahaha, have good new‘s for you“ i thanked him for the rapid unload that Box from the Truck. „Nice piece of Rust what is it“ i told him it‘s my 54Year Old Wheel Horse 656 directly imported from USA, I like to restore. He meant, „you‘re jokeing me, did you mow today with that Thing?“ Yap. “Whow, that impresses me really i just wonders about the different Sound i hear Today“ i just can answer. Than told me he wanna enforce the Clearance of the Shed, if i really like, i be first he will ask if all his machines he don‘t need further sold. I can take a look if i like something except his Tractor and the huge Trailer. I get an option on 70 Sqaremeters with a Massive Concrete floor, that can at least 40Tons. So a Lift wouldn‘t be a problem at all. than i do another Trail thru the Forrest, keep an eye for that while i ride about one hour thru Forrest, i took a lot of Picts

4 pointsI was looking for places to camp so when I saw the photos, I checked it out. Not many open days to reserve. The story is a bit depressing. The Legend of Hungry Mother Legend has it that when the Native Americans destroyed several settlements on the New River south of the park, Molly Marley and her small child were among the survivors taken to the raiders’ base north of the park. They eventually escaped, wandering through the wilderness eating berries. Molly finally collapsed, and her child wandered down a creek until the child found help. The only words the child could utter were "Hungry Mother." The search party arrived at the foot of the mountain where Molly collapsed to find the child's mother dead. Today that mountain is Molly’s Knob, and the stream is Hungry Mother Creek.

4 pointsYou're supposed to paint the grass too. I had a red toned yard and garage floor for almost a year.

3 pointsWhat a difference 4 hours makes. Washed and cleaned as much as possible to get a good look at things, changed the color of the duck tape seat from grey to black for now, lubed the adjustable seat track to get that working, greased steering and front end then took it up and down the road to get up some speed and get it hot, short trail ride then in for a oil change. Seems a lot nicer than I first thought but plenty more to check out, little at a time. That console mounted hydro lever is the cat's meow, very impressed.

3 pointsJust returned from a short 42 mile round trip this morning saving ( I hope ) another WH. This appears to be a 1987 418-A with a KT17 series 2 transplant with the Kohler 18 Magnum decal on the chrome air cleaner. I was not sure under what heading to show this and had a notification from @c-series don regarding the above 520/ kwik-way photo and figured Side shot Sunday was as good a place as any, thanks Don. More pics after a cleanup to see what I got myself into, again. How do I stop buying ? but you guys aren't the right ones to ask for a logical answer. She needs some help for sure this one.

3 pointsI love my Chevy C10’s but there’s something about the 68-71 Dodge D/W Series . I owned a 70 myself and regret selling it ever since. Going through fleabay last night and came across this 71 D100 . Sure wish I could get this one in my driveway.....440ci with 727trans and notice the factory gated shifter mounted under the dash . This is one truck. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Dodge-Other-Pickups-440-Auto-swb-sweptline-/353142156237

3 points@Stormin No need for an apology, I have a habit of doing that myself. The way I look at it is there are many members and non members who never get to see these beautiful machines because they are not able to be on here as frequent as some of us are and have to scroll way back to find them if they ever do. We are all caretakers of these tractors only for a short time and I am trying to extend the life of those I own so hopefully other generations will be able to work and show these as we do and get the satisfaction that we got from them while we are here. This is another beauty I let slip away.

3 pointsSo pleased with my deck resto results......I've started redoing the tractor to match it.

2 pointsWell I worked on the tire restoration as I had time this week. Here they are all laid out. I ended up opting to skip the RuGlyde treatment due to my remaining time before my next semester starts. I also ended up having American Automotive Black Tire Paint instead of the Miller. The Bleche White worked great with some gentle scrubbing from a stiff brush. Here are a few comparison shots between a cleaned and uncleaned tire. The tire paint also worked great. I sprayed six 6-12 tires and six 4.0/8 tires. I applied two coats but I am certain that one was sufficent. My paint area is fairly dim and I am fairly blind. The second coat was really a stopgap measure incase I missed any areas. I applied the paint very heavy and did get some runs. After the tires were dry there were however no noticeable runs. Many of the reviews online mentioned this paint acted more like a dye and I would agree. I used 5oz of the paint leaving me another 123oz to use. I sincerley hope I never have cause to use it all thats alot of tires! Here is a comparison of some painted and unpainted tires. Here are some photos of the painted tires. This is a completed Silvertown compared to an unrestored Silvertown I have on the 854. I purchased a Harbor Freight Mini tire changer yesterday and hope to have a few sets mounted in the next few days.

2 pointsThanks all At one time I thought 50 was old. Now being as old as I am, I don't even feel 50 yet. I'm collecting SSI and still work a full time job building houses. Life is good and playing with these 's makes it just that much better. And I feel quite blessed to have found and a great amount of friends, like you all.

2 pointsThanks for sharing the great pictures Dell. Brings back some good memories from way back. I camped there on the way home from Nashville in the late '60s. Do you know the story on how the park got the "Hungry Mother" name?

2 pointsWhen the solenoid clicks you are not getting enought power. You say the battery is good so you are not getting ground. Check and clean all the grounds and make sure the switch is grounded.

2 points@pullstart Decals are WH back when every part for this refurb was still available. I installed these decals dry, why, because I didn't know any better and just took my time and they came out great. I would use the preferred soap and water on the next one I do. Still have all the receipts on every part I bought at the dealer and laugh when I see the prices. Congrats on the sale of your plow truck, always sad to see an old Chevy going to another owner.
-
2 pointsHead gasket swap complete and holding up. Not ideal plow conditions but here she is, digging Carolina clay. Forget nice, straight furrows at this speed, but wanted to see what she had. Never plowed with a stock K321, I dunno, maybe they’d do just as well, will have to let you guys be the judge. The stock K301 this replaced certainly would not throw sod like this. Overall pretty happy and hope you fellas enjoyed following along with some mad scientist shenanigans

2 pointsWhy you can‘t have a Wheelhorse? i picked mine over the Big Pond.. It‘s not a question of can have, more a question of „will have“.... few thousands of miles far from You.. 😉

2 pointsI checked the trail cam today and had 260 pictures. Here are a few of the daytime pics. One of the bucks has shaped up pretty well, but no wall hangers yet. Four different bucks in this pic. The curious one sniffing the camera may be a shooter near the end of the season.
