I got lucky one day and a Red [] member new that I was looking for one: He can chime in if he likes. Sent a pm and off I went to pick it up. All I did was use marvel to clean it up. Easy way to clean and bring back color. I think when at the factory they ran out of the side decals or the assembler put the wrong ones on. No big deal. The bonus of this is it is the same year as the tractor. And pretty much the same area in the state soooo you never know could be a set? Or not. I will hook it to the tractor one day to take a side shot Friday for Sparky. Hope you enjoyed the picks and the story.

Just wanted to share my excitement for the week with everyone. I just picked this 312 Hydro today to mow the lawn at my house as my JD died on me. Owner had serviced and taken good care of the Wheel horse but I was more than pleasantly surprised when I arrived to hear that he was the original owner and had all the manuals and even his purchase receipt for 1990. Everything worked as it should although the mower deck has a small hole in it which is easily repairable. Brought it home and proceed to mow things just because I could...lol. It mowed perfectly and the lawn looked great, I use to detail cars in my youth, so i decided to see what I could do with the paint on this 312 so I played around with the hood and well, you can see the results. I look forward to doing the rest of the tractor and polishing the hub caps. Im also ordering some new tires tonight and going to do a complete service just for my piece of mind. Was finishing up mowing yesterday C141 started to die like she was out of gas. Headed back to shop the thene engne started to race Throttle had no effect. Pulled some choke that slowed it down limped in to the shop. Lost the E clip that holds the governor arm to Carb linkages.... Nice to have an easy fix once and awhile and a failure near the workshop...

I just bought a Kohler K161 for $30! Found it about 45 min from home. Says it needs a valve job, has be partially disassembled, but the recoil is worth twice that! I’m tickled. I pick it up Sat evening!

Hello all. I have been writing n rewriting this post on n off all day. But for some1 who is rarely lost for words, i am, yet again. But i gotta try n say something; express my gratitude. The way my life has been going...well, it doesnt take much to throw me these days; lotsa times i struggle. Just to keep it together. But things happen, here n there, that remind me there must be a reason why to it all. Well...so i do; so i am. I make no bones that rightnow, God n Clara...i draw strength from them; believing He must know what is right, above all else. Though my faith in Him is what it is, and i would be lost n gone without it...i struggle with the human side of that, sometimes. But, like i said above, things happen. N sometimes 'right' people happen. And ya know what? I sure seem to find A LOT of those people on this forum. And i just want to add Bob Ellison to the list of people who have shown me, once again, that decency n kindness in this world isnt dead...and im sure God will sort it out, n following Him certainly seems the way to go in finding one's way through these strange times. I wont go into detail because i dunno how much i should share; i'll let the pics tell the rest. Besides, all i did was was express some thoughtfulness because one of Bob's posting struck a nerve. I never thought much of it past that, because, well, ive always thought, Isnt that the way a fellow Man should be towards another, who is facing hard times? Lord knows, many of you here have done that same thing here, for me, many times... And so i just want to close by saying that i consider Mr. Bob Ellison not only a fine Craftsman,but also another fine & decent human being that the Forum is fortunate to count as a member. I am humbled, Sir, and i thank You. I will be in touch again, as i wrote you earlier; count on that, as well as continued words with Him, about all concerned. And i thank the rest of you, too, for having me in your ranks. I am grateful.

Hi Guys, Since talking about the Speedex model B, I thought I'd post a picture of our "small frame" early Speedex tractors that came after the B. The smallest model that Harold Pond offered in his Speedex tractor lineup was the model D4 (the 6 pictured on top of the shelf and one below with sickle mower). I had never seen one until a friend bought one and hauled it home from Conneticut. But when I saw it, I was hooked; being so cute and tiny making them easy to store, haul and the right size for our girls to ride around on. They were made in the early/mid 1950's, most dating to 1952-1957 and were powered by either a Clinton 1100 or Briggs 8, both using 6:1 gear reduction. It has ony a single speed forward/reverse that was dirven by 2 v-belts and you'd turn a lever which slides the engine either way to put tension the belts which drives the tractor - definitly unique. They're tough tractors to find with currently less than 20 total known but for me, the hunt for D4's is much of the fun in collecting them because of the challenge in finding them. This is really the tractor that I blame for my Wheel Horse addiction as prior to collecting these little Speedex D4's, although I admired the little RJ's, I didn't own one. I always thought though, that it would be really cool to display an RJ35 built at the same time that's physcially the same size as a D4 together, to show people what both sides of the Pond family were doing at the same time. As they say I guess, the rest is history... Anyway, hope you enjoy. -Rob

Some how missed this thread! We have done a pets thing here before and always love them! Our latest is Holly a Yorkie. I could have bought 18 tractors for what the Mrs. paid for this sweetie but you guys know what they say about a happy wife! Our last dog was Lucy. She was a Red Bone hound and we miss her. She loved all people, especially if they had food! Here I think she wanted a ride in Mike's rat tub! She loved going to shows. She also loves her fires and would sit by them for hours! she also liked to play dress up. Lots of cats have come and gone through here. I am not a huge cat fan, I hate mice worse, and Cindy claims to be allergic to them so mostly outside cats but once in awhile they sneak in the house. They do help keep the mice out of engine tins so they earn their keep. We also had Lucy's sister, a Black & Tan coon hound named Hailey. She did not play well with the cats. After all hounds are born to chase furry critters! Before that a Chesapeake retriever Lexi who was a born hunter and took lots of pheasants with her. I'll have to dig up some pics.

I bought one of these jacks, and it seems to work well as intended. With the extension bar and wheel lifts off, it can be a platform jack, or as an adjustable work lift platform. I built some extension arms to support a piece of plywood to use as a lift table. This jack has to be tipped back on the wheels to move it around, which is a PITA in the garage, and uses a lot of floor space. I built a wheeled frame for it to set in, which makes it movable. As a bonus, I can lock it in the raised position, clamp on the plywood, and use it as a clutter collector when not in use. Holds more clutter than a tractor hood! The HF casters I used are rated at 330 lbs each, so load shouldn't be a problem. First mod I am going to do is switch the 2 strait casters for swivels,

Next project was turning my cabin Spanish for the guy who is taking over. We have a running joke that his ancestors washed ashore on the Scottish Western isles from the Spanish armada. I thought the chorizo was a nice touch but the whole cabin stinks!

Yes those were taken in a single day. I used to run my dog doing flush and retrieves on English style driven pheasant shoots. He was a bad ass Springer Spaniel whom I could command with just hand signals.As a bonus for the dog handlers the estate where I worked would have a dog handlers shoot at the end of the season.That picture was taken after one of those shoots. After the birds were cleaned I would bring them to my fire house and put on a pheasant dinner for the guys. Although my current dog doesn’t hunt I still get cleaned pheasant from the estate and bring it to the firehouse for dinner every January. I miss my boy Wallace.

I have so many I’m afraid I’ll crash this website! Here’s me and my boy Wallace after a pheasant shoot and Wallace at work. He has since passed, he truly was my best friend. I cried like a baby when he died. I’ll post more pictures when I have more time.

Gash dang it, I saw it had $100 in my pocket and room to haul it. Said it ran two years ago but back trouble so he stopped using it. I had one 6 or so rears ago with all factory weights and a lot of attachment and my neighbors son loved it so much I sold it cheap and the next weekend he lined up work for it. When we moved he was still pushing snow. I guess I must have missed it since I grabbed this one. Late 50's I am thinking Brigs 81302

Had another go at trying to improve the C-125's starting and running. Removed the carb' and the mixture screws along with the float bowl. Bowl was very clean with just one tiny speck of dirt. Blew out the passage ways with the airline and checked the face for flatness. Holes in main jet needle all check for being clear. Reassembled and stared up. After warming up adjusted the mixtures. Seems to start better and runs smoother, picking up without any hesitation on opening the throttle. Idle still a bit faster than I would like, but I can live with it.

Bought this little beauty yesterday, wanting to know the approximate age, also I couldn’t find any other 110-4 with the 13hp engine. Where can I get the metal side shoot for the cutter deck and whenever I go to engage the blades nothing happens, I guess that’s a belt , where can I get a belt from.. Many thanks.

Got the engine decals from @Vinylguy, Thanks Terry. Went with the larger decal then the original. I liked it better. So now it is complete. I think it came out pretty good since it wasnt a restoration but more of a deep clean and refreshing. Looking for the next one !!

Well, get a good battery in it to start then double check all connections including the 9 pin, ignition switch plug, PTO safety switches, neutral safety switch, connections at starter, fuses, connections at the relays in front of battery, engine ground connection. Lots of connection points on a 520 but if they are clean and tight then you should at least have power to crank it over. Paint may look a little rough but that is only skin deep. If the machine itself is good then a paint job is all you need. Most of mine came home looking rough and not running but they look and run like new now. Actually half the reason I have so many is because I like the challenge of bringing an old machine back to life both mechanically and cosmetically. Good luck with yours.

My wife is allergic to everything with fur so we have a rhinoceros iguana (Cyclura Cornuta). The cyclura iguanas are different than the green iguanas. They are commonly called rock iguanas since they are more terrestrial than the greens and hang out in the rocky jungles of the West Indies. Here's pics of our rhino Sterling. Here’s Lynx. Lynxy Bud, Lynxy Poopy, among other names... I caught him maybe 6 or 7 years ago in a factory warehouse... with some fried chicken. He was black with carbon shot dust and didn’t like getting package taped into a cardboard box to get him home... but he’s a cool dude now.

Well I asked if I should and none of you stopped me, I blame all of you ! After seeing this at a garage sale and passing on it, I had a change of heart and decided to go take a better look at it. Well went back to the house and no more garage sale and no one living there. Drove by the house several times until today when I saw someone there. He still had it. Took me a lil bit to get it to "roll". I saw roll but it dosnt roll. All 4 tires flat, 3 the beads are broke. Put in neutral and had to rock it some to unstick it. Well the tranny spins. Now what? I was alone and he wouldnt help me. He has a hernia and going for surgery. If I wanted it I was going to have to do it myself. Of course the driveway is long and cant get my truck down it cause of all the " garage sale stuff" that was still all over it. Dragged this POS all the way to the street. Now what? I had my ramps but its not rolling because of the tires. First I tried lifting the front on to the tailgate. Guess what... cant do that cause this thing twists in the middle. Cancer has made me much weaker then I was. I used to be able to lift the front ends on tailgate then lift up the back to shove it in. Not anymore. So i was struggling hard to get it up the ramps when a 72 year old man taking a walk offered to help me. Thank God ! I shoved it from behing, then he held the brake until I got a better grip and footing to shove again. Repeated that untill my heart was thumping out of my chest and I got it in. Thank God again. Well here it is.... home now. It is still in the back of my truck as it started pouring rain right after I took these pictures. The owner didnt charge for it as he WATCHED me fight so hard to get it. Took me over an hour. Well its " ours " now. You know the drill.... I need help. Anyone with any advice on these I want to hear it. Can anyone tell me what that thing on the back is ? As you see it came with the snow blower... is that thing on the back part of the snowblower attachment? I need to figure out how I am going to get it down and try to get air in the tires. Wish me LUCK !

Glen Petit made them but he has had health issues in the past and getting in touch with him is difficult. Other than that, just have to keep looking. I made mine from aluminum and painted then black. No writing on them of course.

I use marvel all the time in my gas and oil, never tried it to clean up an attachment. I have that same dump cart, not sure the year will check and try the marvel on it, I got it few years ago, love it.

Eric,I went back and rescued your project from being lost forever. Now quit wondering around lost in the forest and build the tractor. Stormin and I need something to look at, we want to see some progress. All we have seen is Trina painting parts. We may have to fire you and put Trina over the Assembly Department.

I pushed the fluid right through the normal Schroeder valve, with the core in place. I have a portable air tank and removed the air outlet fitting and used a funnel to fill the tank with fluid. After reinstalling the outlet stuff, I charged it with 20-ish psi of air. Be careful to not over charge it, the water doesn’t compress very easy! Tip the tire up on a 45 degree or so angle, so the valve stem is high as you can get it. Tip the charged and full air tank upside down and proceed to fill the tire like normal. You may need to put some more air in occasionally but it forces the fluid right through.

They are used to mark out keyways on round bars etc. Clamp a rule in them, place against the work piece and scribe a line along the rule.

You can do either one and be OK. While the transmission uses the splash method to keep oil in every nook and cranny...the difference between 1 1/2 and 2 qts will still do the job in this case. But know this...you want the oil at least the level of the top of that extension. That insures that you have oil in the differential for your floating pinions and the spring.

Added RV antifreeze as ballast to the new tires, front and rear. Got a transfer pump for $60 online, so tiny and cheap. Ugh. It worked, but the tires and tubes wanted to push the ballast back out; I did shut pump down 1/2 way to release air...but it still kept wanting to push out of the valve -- was there something I did wrong?

IMO you really need a battery.

I had a guy tell me quite a while back that painting something is actually about 95%, NOT painting. I've learned this past year that welding is the same way.

I like the tractor and trailer touch.

So the LED tail lights on our new to us T@B teardrop camper were partially "burned out", but one of them had all but three diodes working. So, after I replaced the tail lights, I started thinking... The utility light that I mounted on the back of the C 105 worked perfectly for night-time reverse plow duty, but it burned out last season... So, I cut out the old light from the rubber housing with the dremmel tool, bolted the former T@B taillight inside the rubber mounting, wired it up on the stop light wire and Voila - I have an even brighter rear utility light, albeit red... which actually is better! Free and better - I love it!

I made replacement axles for my Rat Rod. Some 1" round stock a mill and/or drill press is all you will require. I know that @pullstart has both of those tools in stock. The new axles that I made for my Suburban Rat Rod. I replaced both woodruff keys in each axle with straight cut key ways, full length on the hub side. .

Probably Rylee would qualify... better than a local shop!

I am a master of this! I have been in charge of our fire departments dunkin booth at our annual fundraiser carnival for over thirty years. Although I don’t get in the booth anymore my main job is to stand outside and heckle people to throw balls if the person in the booth isn’t doing that. Also to get people to go in the booth. I used to consume copious amounts of alcohol and go in the dunkin booth then really agitate people by egging them on. One thing I know is that the madder people get the more money they will spend to dunk you. Once in the nineties I had to have the police escort me out of the booth and into the firehouse because a couple of guys were so pissed at me they wanted to kick my ass. Here’s a picture from my local newspaper of me prepping the booth in 1989!
