12 pointsTrina made a Wheelhorse cup coaster. Slice of Aspen. Wood burning kit. Traced a part of a bottle opener. Voila!!
-
10 pointsTrina got the front axle bracket and the axle painted up. We installed the frame and its rear supports onto the adapter this morning. Also bolted the front bracket on with axle in place to verify position after I had welded in braces on both the frame and front support. Lines up nicely. I'll use the piece of 3/4 rod in the photo to make up an extended length axle pivot pin. Look looooong?? The wheel base is 9" longer than a standard C series. Adding the extra size of the tire diameter this machine will be 16" longer than stock.

9 pointsFound this on Facebook Marketplace just about 3 miles or so from me. The PO said it has weak spark and he has no feeler gauge to set the points. He removed some things off the engine and put some things back on but didn't put them back on properly. It only cost me $50

7 pointsThis is the roughest one among the herd. Now that it is running pretty good I decided to put the 42'' SD deck on and do some mowing with it. I don't think I have mowed with this for 7 or 8 years. Side shot was taken yesterday.

6 pointsJust picked up my first Wheel Horse last night for $500. It is a 417-A. Seems to run well and everything looks to be in working order. The hour meter says 1,225 so hopefully I can get some more life out of it. It’s a KT17 Series 2. From looking at some pics on the internet of the motor I noticed that the air filter housing on mine seems to be backwards. Is this right? Also, anything I need to check or look for when I start digging into this beast? Appreciate the help.

6 pointsSo i dont know if anyone here has heard of Iracing.com before. Its an internet racing simulation that is backed by man nascar drivers and has been televised the last few weeks. This weekend they are doing their final race at the track called north wilksboro that they have not raced at since 1996. The track is abandoned and they recreated recently. The reason i bring this up is Dale Earnhardt Jr posted a 15 min video on recreating it and they were showing quick clips of it and then i spotted a billboard that was pretty cool! So thought id share it Also here is the video to better explain if anyone is interested.

5 pointstofu enchiladas...I would not even mess up what system I have left on something like that. I'd rather put 3 Slim JIm's and a wedge of Spam on a corn taco shell. Hey, that sounds pretty good.
-
5 pointsEtrailer.com Several different grades of quality available on most of their items. Customer service is excellent. I'd recommend them. Sure is. 5 x 4.5 This will have 6-12 AGs on trailer wheels front. 7.60-15 AGs on (camper/trailer?) wheels rear. Should be a good combo.

5 pointsHi, I have a C-125 that originally sat on four rubber mountings. They were damaged and I could not find replacements. Following advice from this site I made a set of aluminium solid mounts for my engine. I fitted them with the engine in situ, jacking it and bolting each one in turn. It was a bit fiddly to line them up with the angled threaded holes being particularly hard to deal with. But I managed and everything is fine, the engine performing very well on it's new mounts. Have a good look at how your mounts are fitted and think through the steps you will need to take before you begin. Should be a fairly simple swap. Mick

5 pointsSo after all that...I just happened to check on Craigslist before I made the 6hr round trip tomorrow and this is what I came across for $500...a 416-A in good running order. Motor really sounds good and the body seems to be solid. Best of all...only 36 minutes from my house! I hope I made a good decision.

4 pointsLast weekend was a time for a group of us to play with our garden tractors. Les was impressed that we were able to get it turned over with our little machines. He also said that the event has been quite a conversation topic in his neighbor hood. Today I was able to get some seat time on my 1947 Cockshutt 30. My dad & I restored this Cockshutt about 20yrs ago. At one time Dad asked me if I could have one of the 16 antique farm tractors that he had, which one would I choose. Without hesitation, I said the Cockshutt 30. He said that some of the other ones were worth more. I agreed with him and said that I was sticking by my choice. Of the tractors that Dad & I restored together this tractor has always been my favorite. With out further ado I'll share some pictures of Les & I planting soy beans today. First a pic of Les at the wheel while I was riding on the grain drill to make sure things were working properly. A couple of pictures of me running the show. I know that you guys like video's so here is a video that Les took while I was planting. Not much left to do with this field now but sit back & wait for the beans to grow. Maybe I'll check back in on this post come harvest time.

4 pointsI planted a few beans in early April, with a hard frost in tonight's forecast I placed an individual greenhouse over each plant this afternoon.

4 pointsTell you what, JCM, we can pull the trigger on this at the same time and get them installed. I'm tired of watching my 301 dance around in the 125 and I need to hammer on something other than a house for a change. Garage therapy. Mick - I'll try it your way.

3 pointsBad news Mac we ain't gonna let you give up.. Worse come to worse we is gonna have you send that tranny to one of us.! I been thru alot worst and I know @Achto has been thru alot worse than me! Believe it or not this tranny is now in a working tractor...

3 pointsThere is a dipstick and tube on Fleabay right now for nice money....Good deal. grab it !!!! its for the 417 A
-
3 pointsI have a 417-8 and a 418-A, and they are two of my favorites. Here is a picture of the dip stick on the 418A, which I believe is the same trans as yours. The top of the trans is exactly 9" below the fender pan. The tube is just only plastic, so maybe someone replaced yours. The plastic tube extends 7 1/2" above the trans case, plus probably another 1/2" into the case with an O-ring. The dipstick is 9 1/2" to the inside of the cap. They occasionally show up on ebay, or try A-Z tractor. Jim

3 pointsIf you unscrew that plug, you may find a dipstick attached to it. WH used that on trans' and Kohler engines sometimes.

3 pointsHave all the parts and stuff to add power steering and a swept forward axle but haven't got'n around to to doing it yet.
-
3 pointsYes, the air cleaner intake is now set for cool air summer operation. As @horseyheavenstates, it gets rotated over the hose for warm air winter operation. The 417A has the very best Eaton 1100 hydro and the KT17 Kohler is a strong worker that will crank that 48" deck with ease. I feel my Kohler powered 417 is ever bit as strong as my Onan powered 520.
-
3 pointsNot totally custom, but a few home made parts to get this hitch to function. I would like to reproduce this hitch in the future... I have a few machines that could benefit from this!
-
3 pointsVery nice looking. I believe that is a 1985 model because it has no vents in the top of the hood. As far as the direction that the air cleaner is facing, that has to do with winter or summer operation. There should be a decal that explains which way it should be placed for winter or summer operation. The hole that you see just to the right of the exhaust is where the air cleaner snout fits over. I think the way it’s placed right now is for summer operation. I think the way it would be placed over the hole in the tin would be for winter operation. I can’t remember exactly. There is a decal somewhere on the air cleaner that explains this.I have one that looks identical to the one you have. Mine has 2000 hours on it and still runs strong and uses no oil. The KT 17 series 2 is a really good engine. I hope this helps. Good luck with your machine.

3 pointsrough? that would be considered a jewel down here. love those black hoods.
-
3 pointsJust a wee bit-o-snow fell last night. All the flowers came inside for the night, but the RJ...well she stays outdoors
-
3 pointsBest thing we can do to keep these machines running and running right is to use em. I think sitting does more harm than good to the fuel system and the carbs. Nice BlackHood!

3 pointsI have been watching the "I racing" on TV and love it. Dale Jr has a program on NBC-Sports called Dale Jr. Download and he was talking about doing the North Wilkesboro track about a year ago. Too bad Jr. Johnson didn't live to see his home track brought back to virtual life. I have also been recording and watching a bunch of vintage NASCAR races lately, many of them I had attended in the '80s and '90s.
