12 pointsWell, I just got home and Emory had to come out to see his tractor! I ended up driving only about an Hour to pick these up. Got an rj25, rj58, rj blade, front sickle bar, rj58 repro belt guard, and rj25/35 brake kit. The rj25 is a clone, as the hood has had the gas hole and kill switch hole bondoed over. That doesn’t bother me and I will likely weld a patch in the gas filler hole and repaint it my favorite regal red. Mechanically it is complete and seems to be in good shape. The little Briggs will stay as a tribute tractor. Emory’s rj needs a little hood work and the tranny is toast. I’ve got an extra transmission I plan to use to rebuild his with. The guy I got them from had the original brake kit for the rj in an rj35 and took it off to sell it. The snow blade is in good shape, really only needing a good cleaning and painting. The front sickle is functional, but seems right due to not being used or lubed up. I’m very happy with my haul, especially so close to home!!

11 pointsIf you have seen my 520H post this is the one I was talking about. 1975 C160 came home today.

10 pointsThought you guys might enjoy these! Dad and I picked up these wagons today. Very cool and actually hard to come by. They look pretty good behind the C195. They have been in a barn for 30+ years. These are not homemade, they were made for a few years by Parker that made large gravity wagons

8 pointsPicked up an 522xi a while back on the cheep. 1500 hours on the meter, it had some issue. Leaking rear crank seal, loose rear axle hubs, noisy bearings in clutch and very dirty. Rear seal was brittle. Replaced both front and rear seals plus the foam seal for the cool air intake. Repacked the clutch bearings, new bearings were pricey. About half the cost of a new clutch. Being a back up machine figured I would just re-grease and give it a try. One rear hub was extremely bad and required an axle replacement. I weld that hub until I got the engine straightened out. If the engine wasn't right I was going to part it out. The seal replacement worked and I moved on to the rear axle issues. Cut the welded rear hub off, disassembled and replaced one of the axles. I was able to get axles out of an old 8 speed that were the were the correct length. Gearing looked great for 1500 hours. Waiting for the brake shaft seal and then it goes back together.

7 pointsI've been pretty bored lately with all this covid stuff and I've been scanning Facebook lately to find something to fill some gaps. I found an older that ended up being too expensive for just a toy so I found this.... thing. If anyone knew its manufacturer bravo. Its a Springfield from possibly 1961. I'm not sure of anything with this thing that's so ugly its adorable. There is very little information on the interwebs about these so any insight on these with be greatly appreciated. The guy selling it was asking $200 I offered $100 and said hed think about it. I hope I get it.

7 pointsThere were several reasons why Toro stopped making Wheel Horses - but the main one was probably return on investment - they were expensive to make and therefore, to make a profit on them, they were priced a bit high for the market, which was moving towards zero turns, SCUTs, and lower end, entry level lawn tractors. The market changed, but the Wheel Horse tractor did not, or at least enough to continue production.

6 pointsI know I have sorta hi-jacked @PeacemakerJack's "let's go plowing/rolling dirt" thread with my gardening madness so I'll start it over here with some pics of the progress I have made so far and as planting and growing season continues... I also encourage any other RS member who is preparing a garden this year to contribute to this thread as well like @Greentored, @Andy N., @ZXT, ect so here it goes...from sinking a plow in the ground to tilling and discing to bringing over all of dad's sleeve hitch gardening implements to making rows and planting potatoes and onions today at the in-laws plot. Will update as things proceed like planting other veggies and maintaining plants and soil/weed control ect.

6 pointsI have been looking for a Farmall M for several years now. Had the chance to buy several H's over the years, but always skipped over them in hopes of finding an M. Wednesday night I went to see my friend Glen with the intent of trying to buy a 1949 Case S that I knew he had in the barn. Long story short he wanted way more for the S than what I could afford to spend. So our attention turned to the two M's that were on the other side of the barn. He said he'd take $1200 for the one that had 3 pt and $650 for the one without. Thought about it for a bit and offered him $600 for the one without, and he took it. Then we went out in the pasture and found an old John Deere pull type brush beater. Ended up picking it up for $150. The old M is pretty rough looking but starts right up and runs well. Got her home and changed the oil, gonna finish checking all the fluids and greasing her up tomorrow, then might find a couple tires to put on the beater and try to start cleaning up some of this overgrown mess around here.

6 pointsHe said get it out of my yard, I said take some money. So I bought the plow.

6 pointsGuilty as charged... came from Dad's estate... mower is kinda nice but sno blower needs lots of love. Since Cindy does the mowing, she won't admit it but she likes her seat time, I had her hop on the Z and to see if she could handle it... Ahhhh ....no... she's the poster child for safe mowing and auto driving. Did I mention she has never ever gotten pulled over and she likes her vertical horse!?! So I had it on CL for 3k figuring that would about pay for a half months rent at Dad's home. Had a few interests but now she tells me she thinks she could get the hang of it... When I went to his farm to get it I got it started and insulation started flying every where. Yup mice in the tins... err. . plastics. I says dad I'm gonna have to pull the shrouds. He says I'll just give it a blow job as he stumbled for the air hose..,dad is 90+ ... no no no dad gotta come apart. Packed with mice...It did clean up nice tho. What you laughin about plunger... you fessed up you had a green thingy too!

6 pointsI run, drive, and help maintain property...So, can I show this post to my wife as proof that I am essential? Even if I'm in Michigan?
-
6 pointsMuch larger group of Wheel Horse hoarders than that. You, @pullstart and @WHX24 get yours running and enjoy them, but on occasion we see auction listings for "collections" that were never enjoyed, just stored away. Those little gold mines will keep this hobby viable for future Horse-A- Holics.

5 pointsWhile looking on Facebook I saw a tractor very close to the dollar general that my wife often shops at, so last Saturday we needed dog food and a few random items so I sent a message to the seller. Social distancing is tough but possible while buying old stuff, we came home with this
-
5 pointsGonna leave in a little while to pick up my latest toy and one for Emory. Found them just about an hour and a half from home!! One I thought I’d never have in my collection! Couple of you know what they are. Shhhhh don’t give it away. I’ll post some pics later on after I pick them up! @squonk banana dance!!!
-
5 pointsI think you can give those a quick wash Chris. I've noticed that my wet bar is drying up. Now that is serious.

5 pointsNot quite a 520H, but my C165 has the swept axle, wheels, and reduction steering of one but with 18-8.50s on it. I had 16-6.50s originally but greatly prefer the looks of the larger tires.

5 pointsThe girls were playing upstairs yesterday and I shared pictures of my little show with them... today we’ll do it in the front yard to put on a show for passers by
-
5 pointsI’ll share Richard! C’mon up and I’ll let you pick one out for a field ride! I’ve got a feeling I know which you’d jump on...

5 pointsThe buyer can get reproduction belt and exhaust guards that are made to original specs if he does buy it. They are usually listed on the internet for sale. Looks like a nice tractor and a nice Fairbanks-Morse recoil starter and screen on the Kohler 4 hp. Price is not out of line if the motor is good and the transmission shiftssin all the gears. Check the rear axles to see if the oil seals are leaking . Also check condition of the gas tank inside. Love my RJ's !
-
5 pointsHoarders? Whoa, hold on a minute Richard! Are you talking about @WHX24 and myself? We might resemble that remark!!!

4 pointsNow, some of you may be thinking that if I have never seen another one, not even a photo and have no idea who the manufacturer was how can I be certain of what it is? If you indulge me I’ll tell you a little story. Sometimes the story behind an object is more precious than the object itself; when I was in my mid to late 20s I did a lot of work at Columbia University in New York City. We did a lot of restoration work keeping in line with the existing woodwork which is nothing short of breathtaking in some spaces. My work partner was an elderly carpenter. His name was Zev ( short for something very hard to spell). He was a Holocaust survivor. Had a long number tattooed on his left wrist. I recorded that number and still have it somewhere here. He was very instrumental in influencing me for the rest of my life along with many others ( lots of stories). Through out the process of carefully dismantling some of the existing work from the 1800s, there were these curious marks on everyone of a certain part of such work. Curious I asked him what it was from, he then describing a tool for that work, stating also that although he had used one in the past he actually had never seen another one again. Scratched my head for a couple of months and then just forgot about it. That is until a few years back. On my knees going through a box of old door hardware in an antique shop I frequent on a regular basis all of a sudden I see these weird looking tools. Took me less than one minute to realize what it was. Surreptitiously I tried one on a piece of wood there. There were exactly the same marks. I have to say that I immediately had a tear running down my face because I can still hear him describing it to me word by word. So that is how I know what it is . I have used them ever since. As I paid for them owner asked me if I knew what they were for? I certainly did know and always refer to them as the Zev .......

4 pointsFinished another gt14 tank and made Lil’ Red a steering tower/ headlight cover assembly. Think I’m just going with an LED light bar instead of trying to fit factory style lights. Still have to trim it a little and not sure if I should paint it or not.

4 pointswell guys i am back again as it seems i have convinced my neighbor to be a true wheel horse guy as now he owns 2 of the old lawn rangers which he sure does like ;but now he is looking at another though the face book market place where a seller has a very old and rare ` wheel horse which the seller thinks it is a 1959 and a half which i have never heard of but it could be;but anyways the horse has been totally restore and the seller has had it for over 15 years in his living room ;it has never had oil or gas added as it was just a show piece ;the numbers are #K-91-7-4240563 the seller wants 800 dollars for it and my neighbor has offered 700 'so what the buyer would like to know if this old wheel horse is what the seller says or some thing different ;it is missing a few items and he isn't sure if he can find them so i ask you guys is this tractor what the seller thinks it is 'pictures added ;again thanks guys and yes that attachment comes with it

4 pointsFor sure! I am finding out these are beastly machines but they are great deal harder to work on then the 520's. Well got to stay home anyway, something to tinker with.
-
4 pointsChuck, here are some pics of my 48" deck that had the same left side hole as yours. When rebuilding decks, I also always add a back up plate inside the deck for the height adjuster wheel brackets.

4 pointsThe market for things that last is lonnnng-gone ! People want things that they can just throw away when they wear out . My wiper-blade is ripped ... time for a new car !
-
4 pointsThanks Richard. We do enjoy playing with ours, whether just a ride around the farm or light use. A couple of them get more than light use - they see weekly or daily chore duty!

4 pointsYou could probably put that motor in an RJ and cruse around the Big Show.

4 pointsWe have a couple of tractors around here running 18-8.50-8s like the Super-C and My Cub Super. Caleb is running a 16-6.50-8 on his 418C The V61 has a wide squared off stance for sure. However, with a heavy loader, I’d almost go with the 8.5 wide tire to have more floatation. Good luck in your search Mike!

4 pointsGreat pics and thread @pullstart! I gotta tell a classic story that happened at just after supper tonight and I didn’t connect it to this thread until right now. I had a buddy of mine over for the afternoon and we were working on refurbishing a tractor. His son is getting a real hands on course in the finer points of tractor rebuilding. Anyway, in keeping with social distancing, we decided to drive tractors after supper which I boldly declared. Claudia not missing a beat says, “Dad, do you have enough tractors for the six of us?” Me, “Claud, have you looked around—I’ve got more than 10 tractors on the property!” ”No dad! I’m asking if you have enough running that we can all drive one?” OUCH! So, I went to the garage and promptly started the appropriate number of tractors for us all to ride. The last one I took out (which consequently needed a battery) was old Rusty (1054A). I pull it out to join my buddy and he says, “I didn’t think that old thing even ran!” Like Rodney Dangerfield, “ I just can’t get no respect” Sorry I didn’t get any pictures guys but we had fun tooling around the yard for about 20 minutes! Thanks for the fun trip today Kevin and the rest of you who participated!!!

4 points@ebinmaine I have to tell a story and you'll get my drift on "Relocation" Some years ago a beaver family built a brush dam just below the outlet structure at one of the companies steam plant cooling lakes. The brush dam was remove several times, with lots of company Enviromental supervision, but the beavers kept building it right back. Finally a State Wildlife expert was contacted and they sent a State Contracted Trapper out. The Trapper efficiently relocated those beavers and they were never seen again. The company Enviromental expert kept emailing me asking where he relocated them too? Each email I answered in a vague way. When the Enviromental expert didn't get the message I finally replied " He relocate them to 30/30 Winchester Lane".
