13 pointsI finally got a chanc me to pull the ole girl out and install the decals I got from @Vinylguy. They were the perfect touch to make it look like new! The only issue with the finish on the tractor is that it had sat outside for apparently an extended time and the sheet metal has some surface pitting from rust. I cleaned it down really well, but decided not to try to fill all the pits, as I would have had to skim all services with Bondo. I think it looks honest in its current form - not trying to hide anything. Gonna take it for my Dad to see today. He’s been more excited about this one than any of my other builds!

I have another C-175 fitted with a plow not in the picture, but he has a Magnum 12 transplant. no slouch (plus that Mag sips fuel), but nothing throws snow like that machine on the right!

9 pointsEmory bought this little guy a few years ago from a friend. Turns out our own @oldredrider went through the engine and it purrs like a kitten. Started it for the first time since last fall and she fired off on about the fourth pull! In the video you’ll notice the top cover is off. That’s because I had to free up the throttle cable from sitting for the winter.

8 pointsThe seat on my 520H is original and WELL used. But is in overall good shape. I did not want to buy a new one because well they are crazy expensive. Here is my steps for cleaning hope it can help someone out, I learned the process from a professional car detailer and have used it on my trucks for years. Note my tractor seat has some pine tree sap the I am still working out as I don't want to do anything to harsh on a 26 year old seat. 1. Remove loose dust and dirt with compressed air or dry brush. 2. Spray seat with mild detergent and work into the seat with gloved hands. 3. Remove detergent and dry seat off. 4. Liberally apply 3 in one leather care product to the seat and work into the seat with your hands. If you have highly soiled areas use a nylon brush to work those areas. 5. With a dry paper towel (shop rag) wipe the seat dry. Fold the paper towel over or use multiple towels for this step as the dirt and "butt" oils rise to the surface and you don't want to work them back into the seat. 6. Repeat step 4 and 5 until you are satisfied with the results. This is my seat after 2 applications, still needs a little work.

7 pointsOK I didn't want to jinx myself but I am to excited. I had a guy i do not know private message me a couple days ago and he as seen where i am always talking about wanting a d series wheel horse. Well he offered me one for FREE a D 160 all i have to do is come and get it!! I feel very honored to have this opportunity. I have had a lot of bad stuff happen with my late dad taking his life in 2016 and several other family members dieing and my adopted family not talking to me for 3 years now after all the hard work i did cleaning and saving my dads equipment as i let the house go back to the bank. I only am trying to find out if i can travel to get it and if 1 of my 3 beaters will make it. LOL anyways this comes with no attachments. Can someone post some photos of the attachments for it? I will be interested in a deck and snow blade for now. maybe a loader way down the road or if i hit the lottery. LOL Funny thing about this story i texted my wife while she was helping my brother and good friend who owns a funeral home and said well what do you think? My wife didn't skip a beat she said to me What would your dad have done? I said he would have gotten in his truck and drove there coronavirus or not. LOL

6 pointsI’m a new Wheel Horse owner, inheriting a well-cared-for tractor from my neighbor after he passed away. Now I’m cutting his widow’s grass and mine with a beautiful, old Wheel Horse. I’m wondering if y’all can help me identify the model (so that I can find the right manual). Also, maybe you could give me a tip on how to repair the part in the picture below? It seems to be some sort of bushing on the top of the blade deck that is coming loose from the housing.

6 points@PeacemakerJack & @pullstart about your comments about the finish on the 1977 C-120 in Two fer Tuesday, I guess I stumbled on Multiple threads on here about this topic and if I remember correctly I used Simple Green Cleaner with a Grout sponge several times then dried the surface and used a Scotch Brite Pad , cleaned off the residue and applied several coats of WD 40 sprayed on a cotton cloth, pretty simple thanks to some tips on here. I have included some before and after photos that you may have seen on earlier posts. I was really amazed at how it turned out and being my first C - Series I now consider it one of my favorites. Also after seeing that finish it convinced me that I needed to paint the wheels as well. Thanks for your interest.

5 pointsBecause my wife and I are both on Social Security, and because our income has not stopped, I feel that the stimulus, for us, is not warranted. For that reason, I am not spending my check, but banking it. That way I can make it available (if they need it) to my grown children who are all currently out of work.

5 pointsalright fellas. It did fact have about 50% diesel fuel in it and now I feel like a goof. Much obliged to all who responded. On a positive note my valve lash has been corrected. I have new fuel line and filter and she all tuned up now and ready for yet another season of mowing. I've owned wheel horse tractors for years and I'll check in now that i'm on this forum. Thanks alot guys!

-
5 pointsOk I'll play... Here's 2 future projects. And here's a couple nose to nose. Top pick is a 1974/5 c100 in the foreground, 856 roller behind it. My lower pick shows the Cinnamon Horse which is a 1974 c-160 and also Trina's Pig Pen tractor which is an 867.

4 pointsProbably air in the fuel system, first bleed the injector pump then do the injector.

4 pointsIts taken me a couple of weeks to even get to speak to my local builders merchant to order some sand and gravel to make concrete due to the lockdown. Hopefully will have some material by end of week, start of next so I can make me a floor. I finished the central wall today and I'm just about ready to start on the floor. Might need to do some shop time though till the material arrives. Got to make a PTO brake as the bell running on gets on my nerves lol.

4 pointsYou are taxed on earnings from investment not the whole account if you liquidate it. If you put in 50,000.00 and liquidate account which now yelds 60,000.00, you pay taxes on $10,000.00 which are your earnings. That goes in as regular income. Tax rate on those $10,000.00 will also vary a bit depending whether they are short , long term gains, or some type of dividend. The original $50,000.00 is not taxed because you already paid taxes ( or should have) regardless on how you obtained it. It was some type of income. If you don't need the stimulus money at this point and are into investing, this is the time to put it into the market if you are into that type of thing which not for everyone's frame of mind.

4 pointsSolid gold wisdom right there My maternal grandfather was basically my twin, give or take 50 or 60 years. When I was 20 or 25 years old we were having a discussion about the saying: "Respect your elders." I'm paraphrasing a little bit but he told me. "Boy, that's crap. You respect everyone a little to start. Everyone. Then you figure out who deserves more and you give them the respect that the others don't deserve."
-
4 points@freq432! is the carb clean? It could be the passage from the bowl to the venturi is clogged... try removing the air cleaner completely, then covering the carb opening with your hand. When you roll the engine over a few times it should pull hard enough vacuum to suck debri through the clog if it isn’t too bad.
-
4 pointsYou going to incorporate any WH sheet metal into this project? Tractor seats for the stools An old WH hood for the light shade Couple of foot boards for a cutting board... Assume Regal Red for final color choice? Ahhh - the possibilities are endless...

4 points"only" about 1/2 ton if you throw in any implements As-is it weights 875lbs according to TractorData.

4 pointsWe always have tons of fun off road with our horses and many times beat them up pretty bad. Unfortunately there never is anyone filming our crazy moments. Perhaps that is a good thing. Here are some short moments from cell phones.

3 pointsLike bcgold said bleed the fuel system out good. Is the glow system working? Put a multi meter on the battery while it is going through it's glow cycle to see if the voltage drops indicating that there is a draw. My Hatz engine does not have glow plugs or an intake heater but some engines, like a Kubota for example will not start without them first time for the day. Not even if it's 110 degrees out side. Worse comes to worse, pull the air filter cover off. While it's cranking and only while it's cranking giv'er a shot of "sniffin' salts". A shot of starting fluid should wake it up and maybe run long enough to get it going.
-
3 pointsThere are a lot of guys who would not admit a problem like that. Thanks for your honesty.
-
3 pointsI saw @wallfish do this at the big show one time. Spray some gasoline directly into the throat of the carburetor instead of using brake cleaner. Be careful, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. I would use a spray bottle. If it fires up using gasoline just like to does with brake cleaner, that tells me that you have a carburetor problem. Keep it simple.
-
3 points@pullstart Buy a good chisel , you have beat on the screw driver enough.
-
3 pointsAwesome news Nathan! I was given this Generator Welder yesterday and the first thing I could think of was to find a D series stretch the front frame section a bit and make it into a service welder tractor!
-
3 pointsExcellent video, use the system that works for you. Only one thing usually left out when discussing blade sharpening is a good overall inspection of the rest of the blade. Checking for a bent blade by nestling it on top of a new/known good one, Cracking around the hole/holes at the attachment point, Pay extra attention to the lift/wing behind the cutting edge for thinning/cracking, these have been known to break off and will do a lot of damage not only to the deck but most importantly to those near by. New blades are less expensive than someone getting hurt.
-
3 pointsGarry is correct. That piece should be held on in place with 2 bolts. There are 2 threaded holes in the bottom of it and the bolt heads would be on the under side of the deck. It's possible they are missing, broken or the area rotted where they pass through. Your neighbor obviously did take care of his horse as that thing looks to be in excellent condition.
-
3 pointsWelcome to the forum. If I remember correctly there should be 2 bolts coming up from the bottom that thread into that bearing block. Click on the picture. A wild guess on the deck model Garry
-
3 pointsYou shouldn't be switching cabs, plows, and decks on wobbly plastic knees Lynn. You need more 520s.
-
3 pointsWe pulled the “foot rest” of a rusted solid deck off and scooched the seat up pretty far. I’m one burrito away from getting stuck on this thing! It’s a blustery day with wind and occasional snow flurries... Rylee was a tad bit cold. We decided that on a warmer day, Filly’s a perfect candidate for a nice long wet sanding!
