C-160 with new skins!

I've been looking for one of these for a few years now, and I finally had one fall in my lap. It is a RR-65 Wheel Horse REO Lawn Skiff...perfect for my little yard. Well, after a few days with another that was interested, I got the OK to buy it. Squonk came to the rescue and bought the Work Horse and he and Randy went and picked up the little guys last Saturday. I'm guessing that is D_Mac standing with Randy. So they hauled it back to Squonk's house last Saturday. Enter Jim (WHX24)...he gets in touch with Brian Miller in Mass. (who is planning a trip through Indiana & Wisconsin)...Super-C 4 me. It works for Brian to pick up the RR-65 in Waterloo, NY and bring it to Illinois. Then after a trip around Wisconsin, it comes to it's new home. Brian Miller...Thank You Sir. The RR-65 mingling with the 702 and 857. My wife made Chile today, so we set Brian up with a bowl for the road and a bottle of Wheel Horse Rye Whiskey. Remember all of the restaurants only have the drive through open. Hey Mike...Brian did drive away and we forgot the cardboard thingy. I called him right away, and he came back to the house...so I have the rubber mat. What a nice day. I want to thank you all for making this work. Safe trip Brian...it was fantastic to meet you.

Just when I’m going start posting my stuff for sale (my son is really pushing me but with the coronavirus we’re not going to for now) my Neighbor across the street who is a picker says he has a REO that I can have . Guess I’ll sneak it in herd .....wait to see how long it takes for him to notice !

1st is the '71 Bronco14; 1st WH i bought. 2nd is my '92 312-8; 1st day i saw it, in '17. The 1st Wheel Horse that was/is mine, that my Dad found n gave me, which started all this for me, though ive been around Horses my whole life, as that's what he has always owned...

Friend of mine has a collection of Ransomes crawlers. He wanted to get them out today, line them up in order of age ad take photo's. I did think he was being rather ambitious to do it in a day, but off I went to help today. Now my friend has been quite ill for some time, though slowly improving. So most of the tractors have not been run for some time. The plan was to drive out of the garage those that would start and tow out those that wouldn't. Below are a few photo's for your perusal. Don't ask to many questions, because it's doubtful I'll be able to answer them. Below is what we used to tow the non starters. Ransomes Turf Track. My friend Jonathan driving. Handy set of pallet forks on the back. VW recon engine on the pallet for a Beach Buggy. Before we started moving things. The one below is a copy of a prototype of which non exist. Built by a Scottish lad, from old photo's when he was 21. The idea was a tow tug for pulling canal barges and trailers etc in factories. The ITW stands for Industrial Tractor Wheeled. Steering wheel is connected to the brake bands and acts just like levers. Jonathan got a bit close when reversing, taking the MG6 with him. Below is number 38. The oldest known. Jonathan rebuilt it from the ground up. Another ITW. This is fitted with a winch [n the back. The prongs are ground anchors. MG6. This one came from France. A little line up. Various others. Brace of MG6's. Sand Skimmer. Used in water treatment plants. Yes! That is the drivers seat on top and you steer with your feet. Front view of the auger. This is the conveyor frame. Goes from front to back over the drivers head. The sand would come off the elevator and drop into a dumper like this one. Another Skimmer. I nearly demolished a garage wall with this. Driving in, Jonathan shout, "Mind you head". My natural reaction was to stamp on the brakes. You steer by the brakes. The left on was better than the right. The Skimmer pivoted 90 degrees before I could work the throttle lever. Centrifugal clutchs on these BTW. Stopped just as it reach the wall. Loading shovel. This is a digger Jonathan built himself. Very handy machine and has earned it's keep. Still does bits and pieces now and then. Jonathan is putting them all up for sale with the exception of the digger.

Standing on the seat of the 312, I could reach the Bluebird boxes for cleaning and repair. This guy was watching as I installed a new box.

Fulfilling the number 1 wish of wife’s bucket list. Putting in an Inground Pool. Plenty of landscaping and irrigation work that makes the Horse earn some of its keep. The Supervisor is my constant companion Leonidas. Long haired registered German Shepard.

So... once before the big show and once after if you’ve got parade makin’ kids?

I was thinkin I was going to be fostering the REO until the Big show. I even went as far as digging out my slide rule, pocket protector and auto pencil to work out an equation to make it all work but alas, I ran out of time.

I've resorted to cutting the shaft on a couple and reassembled with a similar shaft connector. I feel this is a better option than risking damage to a steering wheel.

I think a fender has been found for the car. I'll know for sure tomorrow. Got my fingers crossed. For those interested in the interior here is a couple of photos. The interior door panels had been removed to be replaced and are on the back floor.

Since you asked in The Basement and I advised you to PM squonk I decided to just show you what spring looks like in N.Y. State........

@squonk my mouth waters when ever I see or smell a Zwiegle's Hot Dog. Everyone should be able to enjoy them. You all need to try a " Garbage Plate " as well. A " plate " is made up with either 2 red or white hot dogs or 2 burgers with or without cheese or you can get one hot and one burger. Then your choice of 2. Either beans, macaroni salad, home fries or french fries. 2 slices of bread on the side. Then its topped with mustard, onions , and hot sauce. The brown sauce is the hot sauce. Made with ground beef and spices. Every hot dog stand around here has its own hot sauce. Yes I said white hot. Zwiegle's makes a white hot dog as well. Its not called a sausage its a white hot or " porker" .. the reds are called red hot or " texas". Nick Tahous or " Nicks" started them but every hot dog and hamburger place around has their own version. Since they cant call them " garbage plates " cause Nicks trade marked that name they are all just called " plates" . In the early years Nicks used to be open 24 hours and was a popular hang out after the bars closed. The garbage plate became very popular. Now " Plates" are all over town and are STILL very popular with the late night crowd but also a nice choice for lunch or dinner. So if anyone is ever in the Rochester area.... you have to try a " GARBAGE PLATE "

Isn't the front roto-tiller a bit coarse for sweeping ... Need one of these..sweep it back out on the other side of the road

I gotta remember that....sure beats some of the other terms describing the end.

Binny's, a huge liqueur store here in Illinois has it. This stuff just came on the market this last December. If you look at the label near the bottom, you will see batch #1. I bought a case to take for those that wanted one at the Big Show...if there is a Big Show this year. I also know some of you don't drink anymore...for those I have a few empties. The empties I can mail...just send me a PM. @c-series don Thank you for letting us get those horses. Be assured they will be well taken care of.

Agreed with all the above I change mine once a year and the oil I have chosen is the shell Rotella 30 Weight.

AND MOISTURE!!! CHANGE THE OIL!

That's a complicated dashboard. Where are all the idiot lights, multitude of switches, radio/cd, sat nav etc. etc.?? All those things that are so essential these days.

We've done 2 full restorations and didn't remove the steering wheel from either one. Trina just sands/paints around the wheel and "bags" it when priming and painting.

Big guy on a little Horse!!! I'm going to take this horse to a place where I can bond with her for some time...show her how I feel...feed her an apple...tell her the history...and what I expect from her...(lots of thumbs up from traffic going by). If I get a sunny day tomorrow, I will do a video.

Do you have the broken pieces? I'd stop drill any cracks that are present, and weld the missing ears back on with extra reinforcement.

@stevasaurus I am glad you are happy with it. I am 6'5 and I loved cruising around in that thing. I drove it up and down the street and sidewalks as I dont have much of a yard. Takes a bit to get used to at first. I hope you think it is better in person then in the photos. It would be hard to find another one in that nice condition. We took the rubber mat of the floor pan so it wouldnt blow off during transport. When you take it for its maiden voyage just make sure you find the sweet spot before putting it in high or low gear. Thanks everyone for helping me out and for getting them to where they were ment to be. When I get back on my feet I will be getting another Wheel Horse of some kind. As of right now I am " Horseless" as I had to sell all 3 of mine. Good luck with them @stevasaurus and @squonk and everyone else who helped with the pickup and deliveries. God Bless

Got the wiring figured out on the WorkHorse with the help of @WHX24 (kill wire) and switch terminal I.D. from Jacks small engine (Toro part # ) Amazon ( switch terminal diagram) and my trusty free multimeter from Johnstone Supply.. It is different than your generic MTD magneto switch.I need to replace the Wooby-Dooby fuse holder for the switch and should be set to go!

I cleaned up the remains of PennDot's tar and chip road project. The excess chips were being carried into the garages on car tires and into the house in sneaker soles. Stones are a no-no on my new hardwood floors. About 100" of sweeping yielded about 1/4 ton of stone. Enough to cover the area where I pressure wash the greasy horses.

Got it dirt cheap, never put on a tractor.

I can’t do much of anything with my back so crooked, so I went out and visited my Horses today.
