I was born in 1950 and my father bought a new Ford. On a dark and stormy night 18 months later, someone left a dump truck sitting in the road out in the country. Dad couldnt see it in time to stop. I have a picture of 18 month old me standing in front of the wrecked Ford. I have been looking at that picture all of my life. When I was 12, the neighbor boy down the street had a 1950 Ford and it was a Crestliner! It had a smallblock Chevy engine. When I was 13 daddy and grandpa drove me over to San Angelo Texas and bought a 1950 Ford for me to work on. They paid $50 for the '50 Ford and drove it 50 miles to grandpas farm. A few years ago, a guy asked if I wanted to buy 3 1950 Fords. The answer is always yes but no. I knew not to ask how much because I would buy them. Next year he asked again. I asked if they were the same cars and he said no. Then I forgot and asked how much? I couldnt resist the price, I think it was $100 each. Somehow I have 7 old junkers, then a guy said, Look at this ebay auction. It was a Crestliner. Ford didnt make many Crestliners and I had only seen that one in my whole life. The ebay Crestliner was in Rogers Arkansas. I watched the auction and it didnt meet the reserve. I emailed the guy and asked if he was the guy who had throat cancer. Yes. He lived about 6 houses down from my parents and I had been to his house, met his wife, etc. I got that car. It runs and drives. Needs to be repainted

I am an Addict... I Admittedly and Willingly admit I'm Addicted. I have named her 'Shirley'. My Second Wife that doesn't talk back, but still costs me money. But I Don't care...I Love Her. I have went 'tunnel vision' and since acquiring my '67 867 hunk of sexy cast iron, more than once I've woken up in the middle of the night with my Wife staring at me and asking what tramp I was dreaming about because it sounded like I was "Really Enjoying It"... I've kept to myself I was envisioning 'Shirley' all decked out with new rear rims wrapped in Ag tires with a working rear tiller set up and an unstuck hinge pin. Just quietly drift back off to sleep. She's painted up by the PO with $13 a can Red Paint. Must've been windy that day because Decals, Wires, Basically has paint all over it. Picaso he wasn't, but oh well I got her now. Taped up seat, Duct tape no less... But it works for me. I love the way it provides a subtle caress and the back comes up just enough to hide any embarrassing ass crack sightings or unnecessary pointing and laughter if you sit on it the way you're supposed to...Like any lack of confidence in your 'clutching' capabilities will provide you with a heart defibrillating Wheelie moment akin to skydiving and the first chute doesn't open right away... Recently bought a snow plow, snow plow mount(****... And Thanks WH Parts n More.) plow didn't have a handle... So anyone out there have a snow plow handle let me know... Shirley and I and My other Wife need one. One step closer to tearing it all down and sending her off to powder coat... I didn't post pics because I couldn't handle all that drooling...

No I did not know that Kev. I do not name my tractors as it's hard to let them go when it's time to cull the herd. Good thing my wife has a name tho so I don't have to cull her! In case I have not done so Ron

I have been away from the forum for a while. Lots of family stuff and getting behind on little jobs. The next big project is getting 15 pounds of pulled pork ready for Mom's birthday. She will be 100 on March 15. Pretty easy to get stuff done in the shop with heat from the pellet stove. It's so easy to shut down as it only takes 15 minutes for the fire to die out at the flip of a switch. I am getting the mowers upgraded and ready for spring. Could be mowing in a month depending on the weather.

My dad made three drawbar hitches for our 953/1054 tractors. These attach to the rear angle iron snowplow/dozer hitch and can be used in tandem with the slot hitch as they ride below the slot hitch.

Don’t think I’ve done so yet... Quite a funny yet close to home read right there! The only girl name in MY fleet is Jane, as in Plain Jane... named by mine and @WHX24‘s wives (did you know that Jim?). Well, it’s a simple plain red tractor, yet one of my go to workers. Not much to cold sweat about... though I bet Mrs. Pullstart hears me mumbling in the night about Putt Putt, or tractor this or that... There is another girl in our herd, my daughter’s “Filly”

It is about the same as any illogical obsesion. If you have to rationalize owning a , or a customized shoebox Ford , or any other collectable you will find yourself in a straightjacket for sure. All I can say is that I enjoy them, they have never kept me from being able to put groceries on the table, and my wife has learned to not ask that question!

Practiced my rite of passage as @953 nut says. Who ever has a press needs to mod it to get a dangling dash in! Best idea I ever had and good ideas come far and few in-between at this ranch! Roll pin was a bit of a bugger but I WON!!!

Spent the better part of the day hauling gravel and leveling part of Dad’s driveway as the next step after putting in rip rap last time. When I got home, I did find a little time to play! I found out that the tie rods were 3/4” too short when the axle was flipped. So, i cut the tie rods and sleeved them with 1/2” black pipe to extend them enough to give just about 1/4” of toe in. Just when I thought I was done with the tie rods, a ball joint pops out of the rod. I got a washer just small enough to slip over the skinny part of the balljoint, slotted it to fit, and welded it to the axle to secure the balljoint. Then, I used collars on the bottoms of each spindle to hold them in place - after removing approx 1/2” off of the axle to allow room for the collars. Instead of relying on the collars, I drilled through the collars into the spindles and tapped the holes. I then inserted a 1/4” bolt into the hole while also welding a nut in each collar as an extra layer of security. Not being a fan of snap rings, I decided to drill a hole through each spindle for a cotter pin. I also had to make 3/4” spacers from 3/4” black pipe to compensate for the shorter hub. As for wheels, I pulled these two cheapo 15” tires mounted on 6” rims. Lastly, I made pvc body mounts to go between the tub and axle housings for extra rigidity. There is a large u bolt that wraps each axle and goes through the angle iron in the tub to tighten up on the pvc. Whew - all in about 2 hours!!!

Someday when we got no other projects @Achto we have to make some of those since I am hoarding the axle brackets and don't know where my orginal style drawbars are! Looks to be real handy!

@JCM... When I first bought my first 520H the Dicos would not hold air so the dealer had new Carlisle turfs on it that I ran for many years with just fluid weight and chains then I got the older AGs (also fluid filled and 70# iron wheel weights then the weight bar and 3 suitcase) seen in my last pic above but still had to run chains even on pavement then changed over to these and yet to need chains with the deuce or plow and the front ones really seem to help with the steering as well. Similar to the Craftsman / ACE sales at Christmas, my local HD has these 270 PC Husky sets on sale for $99! They are lifetime warranty and HD’s policy has always been pretty outstanding in the past, so I don’t expect this to be different for tools. I bought 4 sets of the Craftsman 240 pc sets and gave 3 away at Christmas time, but I’m sure I can find a place to stick these!

you might add this to your car rust defense, https://nhoilundercoating.com/category/news/, their oil spray is very good and lasting. another thing is to regularly hose down the underside of your car / truck , and wash away the chemical cocktail that is destroying your rig. pete

My first addition was about 3 weeks ago now RJ58 with a plow Glad to finally have an RJ58 also grabbed a tombstone weight need to find a mounting bracket for it. Next this past Saturday I took an 800 mile round trip to get a 953 Runs good, need to put it through the paces before I see its a worker or not. Also very glad to have sitting next to my 1054 I believe I got an early 953 Thanks for looking, Brian

Sounds like a family full of gear-heads. I have had a lifelong fascination for anything with an engine, my only remaining street rod is a '48 Ford F1 that I built over 30 years ago, still going strong.

This 953 now belongs to @pullstart (or should I say it belongs to his daughters?) They have named it "Hot Wheels" and I am glad to see them enjoying it so much. Here is the only Before picture I have of it. Picked it up on and made a street rod themed out of it. Kevin and his family have given it a good home and it is getting more seat time than I had given it in years.

Good to hear from you Farmer. Hopefully I'll live to be around a 100. I wouldn't mind having 15 pounds of pulled pork.

When i reworked my Quadbike for racing purposes, i fightening with each little possibility i have. I don‘t want to change the Engine, itself but i wanna see, how much Power i can grasp out of this „thing“. The base Engine was a 300ccm 4 Valve Aircooled with stock 19 HP. So i firstly changed the Carb from a vaccum controlled to a boosted one with accelerations pump. Than a friend bore the block up to 320ccm, what was as a max. possible. We inserted a coated special piston from Mahle, specific made. Next stage i did was the complete rework of the Head by increasing the intake channel in rough, built a swirl channel to the intake Valves to get better mixture and increases the Intake valves at one and outlet Valves at two size up. Next change was a programmable Ignition, where i can programm my own setup curve, whilst reprogramming i trying different settings and Sparkplugs and ended up with the Bosch type below in Pict. Than i increased the exhaust line ( ain‘t smoothen it) and added an 1,6 times bigger exhaust Manifold on the outlet with a bimetall flaped Muffler on the end. After that complete setup i do several times finetuning with a Lambda sensor and changed the nozzels to their maximum. The final stage brought all in all 38HP on a Dyno in 3 runs continousely under witness. Single term run was 43 HP but it drops quickly back to 38 HP what stay’s in long term rum. i know all was doing it’s part of that result and i cannot honestly say, how much the sparkplug allone brings. But once was significant felt, the Engine runns definitely felt smoother at higher rpm‘s and the acceleration felt be a bit revvning than compared to a standart spark Plug with 0,65mm gap i used before. Even on larger jumps i like the quick revvening for stabilizing the flight with playing a bit on the Throttle. I drove also the same spark plug on my KTM with same results Here i also felt, the revvning is more accurate. But i doubt, that just a sparkplug make a smallengine to a high torque runner. It definitely supports a better combustion with less missfires, but misfires is mostly a sign of a inaccurate setup. But i see no advance on my Tractorengine, here i find it‘s better, to change regulary my sparkplug.

Thanks guys. One thing I’ve found out with the new welder on thin metal is that I was trying to use too low of a heat setting with a slow wire feed. I set the heat up one notch and barely moved the wire speed and I had much less blow through. On thicker stuff, you can really turn the heat up along with appropriate wire speed and get great penetration - my welding skills are a little rusty so my beads look a little sloppy. It’s one of those things that if you don’t use it, you loose it - especially coupled with a new welder. My old welder was a flux core or gas machine. This one is flux only and getting used to the heat and speed setting on thinner metal has been a challenge. It will blow through almost immediately if you’re not careful. My old welder would let me turn the heat down and get a pretty tack even on thin metal, but the transformer really got weak - it was about 12 years old with a lot of hours on it! This inverter welder packs a wicked punch even on the lowest settings - not as easy to dial back as the old one, but I’m slowly getting used to it.

Finally arrived at our hotel in Nashville, we’ve been on the road 14 And a half hours. @dells68 @jabelman I wish we would have had time to stop. But I wanted to stay with him this 1st day towing the car. That was actually a good decision as about where we crossed into Pa I saw a front tire strap flapping. The Uhaul ratchet was broken so we luckily were near a Home Depot and got one to rig up since Uhaul didn’t have another car dolly within a hundred miles. Tomorrow I will follow him to Hot Springs Arkansas then drop off to visit a retired co-worked and a tractor friend.

Thank you. How do they get 8? Are they counting 2 speeds in reverse? I got the engine turning over with the key today. No spark so I will look at the points and condenser next. I expect my inner tubes to be here Wednesday so it may be running and driving soon.

I leave tomorrow for a week of training and the wife saw next week's forecast with 4 scheduled days above 50 degrees so she asked me to unburry her Miata from winter storage so she could drive it those days. I took the Miata for drive around the block and the WH's for a drive around the yard. Beautiful day for both.
