9 pointsI have the privilege to know this kid named Cade, he goes to the homeschool academy with my girls on Mondays and our families have known each other for quite some time. Cade’s now 14 and has been raising cows for a couple years now it seems, by himself for the most part. I’ll post a link to his first video. He’s recently been added to YouTube’s payroll as a 14 year old. Pretty impressive... even if he does farm with a Deere! Please browse his his videos and if you like what you see, subscribe to his channel to help support him in his endeavors! Funny thing... in his manure video he shows the sand pit. I’ve had our buggy out to their property and recall running around in that sand quite a bit. His little brother last year rolled his quad down one of the hills in the pit and broke his arm in that spot too. Another video his dad got the tractor stuck in the woods. About that same spot, we buried the buggy and his dad got out and pushed me through the muck wearing what used to be a pearly white shirt!

4 pointsYou know who I thought had some nice looking tools that were not expensive...Tractor Supply. I put together a tool box of tools for my daughter for her truck a couple of years ago. They really seemed like good quality, I almost bought some for myself...but I already have a tool box in every room, garage, vehicle and boat.

3 pointsTrina and I have gone 4 years running now. We invite friends. My parents go. They invite friends. We all camp near there. It's quite an event.... We'll be there again this year barring unforeseen circumstances. Every year there's a "featured marque". This year it's military vehicles. We're looking at putting together a 60s square hood with a Chrysler single cylinder specifically for this year's show.

3 pointsOk truck tools. I do have AAA so I'm not going to do much roadside svc. but between a sister in a house on a fixed income and a B-I-L with rental properties I am equipped to handle most emergencies. The bag I carry all the time is this. Home and Horse repairs. If I need to do electrical work this bag goes in, General home style repairs possible big project, toss this in the back and every ones favorite type of repair, PLUNBING!!!!!

3 pointsPut together a Rubber Maid tote of tools when I got my GMC Sonoma back in 1995. Traveled with me until I gave the truck to my niece in 2016. Never once used the tools. Truck had it issues over time but nothing that needed to be fixed on the road. Looking at its replacement 2016 Tacoma I doubt there is anything that will break that I could fix on the road. I suppose the OBD reader may be a good idea but most of the issues it finds will be failed sensors. How you going to get one of those and replace it on the side of the road??? Get AAA

3 pointsWe'll do that Jim. I'm always up for a nice visit and the target practice is one of my passions. With the exception of when we were in Florida we have always lived out in the sticks so we're not new to it. We no longer have to commute for work so that's not an issue. We do have a dinky town 5 miles away that has some of the basics and actually has a small but highly regarded hospital. At our age we felt it was important to think about that. Getting to anything substantial is over an hour away. I always have projects going on and I have to remember that a Lowes isn't a few minutes away. We both start our lists that's ongoing over a period of time. Then, whenever the list gets big enough or something in need immediately we'll take the day to hit up all the places, grab some lunch and just enjoy the drive.

3 points@Racinbob Very beautiful property for sure, always nice to be set back from the road with nice frontage and plenty of room to roam around .It looks like @ebinmaine and I are headed to another Meet & Greet in September and if there is interest we will keep on doing it . If you do decide to head to Maine eventually I hope if you have the time to pay Patti & I a visit here, plenty of room to relax, throw a leg over a WH tractor or do some target practice as noted in your Profile may be something that interest you. Maybe organize a M & G around your visit, extra WH's for you to use here. Good luck with your little piece of Heaven. Jim

3 pointsMine was 20 minutes. Gave time to wake up in the morning and to clear my head going home. Just far enough so that I didn't get called in for each little problem. Too far when trying to get there in an emergency. About perfect for my situation. If the traffic was bad I might see 6 cars on the drive. I can't imagine living in town again. I think your going to like living in the country.

3 pointsYou guys are forgetting the most important tool to carry with you in case of an emergency........ big roll of duct tape.

3 pointsI have had problem with HF sockets so I don't use them . Kobalt are pretty good , have not checked out the Icon tools. Got to flea markets and yard sales and buy the old tools , much better quality.

3 pointsUnless you want to carry tools to work on horses just get a AAA card and let someone else get all beat up and frustrated by the side of the road! New event at the Big Show "Sparky's ratchet toss"

2 pointsHi all. I’ve been reading the forum for a while now but just joined. I’ve been putting together a list of questions as I’ve been reading but I’ll hold off on most of them and keep this post fairly short. I just bought a second 520H. My father in law bought the first one years ago. The only attachment on the one my father in law bought is the Kwik-Way loader. About 620 hours. The new one has the two stage snowblower, side discharge mower, and rototiller, and about 775 hours. I live in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and my mother in law is 125 miles away in Maine. She has someone plow the drive, but we need to clear access to some other areas of the house and yard. By the time I get there every couple of weeks the snow has dropped off the metal roof and is pretty well packed. The FEL takes quite a while to dig through it and I’m hoping the snowblower can chew it up. This year we’ve been short on snow, but if I can figure out how to post photos I can show what we were dealing with this time in 2017. Can anyone tell me whether the two fixtures I have in the third photo are for mounting dual wheels or something else? No photos of the new tractor yet.

2 pointsMy new truck has cool tool storage under the rear seat. Time to fill it! I’m not in the trades anymore and don’t make a living with my tools, so...looking for a mid grade tool set that will stay in the truck all the time. What’s decent? I won’t go super cheap and buy the Harbor Freight Pittsburg stuff (ask @Docwheelhorse about the Pittsburg ratchet I zinged into the woods behind my house after the first use ) but what about the new ICON brand Harbor Freight is braggin about now? Anyone have it and are they any good? Haven’t ruled out Husky or Kobalt either. Craftsman...eh, probably not.

2 pointsThere are no points, no bench test. Manual has you check everything else then replace the module. Two modules no spark I agree with ZXT make sure the kill wire isn't grounded
-
2 pointsIf you were powering the lights directly off of the battery, you shouldn't have had an issue. I don't see a need for a relay if they're LED bars. Did you have it connected to the battery directly or to another wire you believed had 12+ volts to it? If you accidentally tied into the stator wiring before the rectifier, that might be what happened. AC voltage and DC electronics don't mix well. If you could get us pictures of your wiring setup, we might be able to provide more insight on what happened.

2 pointsOh yeah! Leave a tractor or digger alone for too long and return to find half the wiring pulled off. Chase a stirk round a field to stop the oily rag it's pulled off your digger from disappearing down it's throat. And don't mention amorous bulls to which fences are not a problem. I love 'em. Sometimes!

2 pointsOne VW spindle machined. I drilled and tapped the end to have a bolt that holds the wheel onto the spindle. It beats tracking down special left and right hand threaded fine thread 18mm locking/clamping nuts.

2 pointsIt's a bit deceiving Jim. It doesn't go all the way to where the roof is higher. Still a good amount of room at 26'x36' but not quite enough. I'll be putting a barn style building in the back yard for more storage.

2 pointsI have one of those kits from Harbor Freight in my truck and I've never actually used it to work on the truck. It always seems to come out at the cabin or someone else's house to repair something. Granted, when we go on longer trips I actually put a trip specific tool kit together. What I have found is that I have really started to like Tekton tools and they've started replacing my Pittsburgh and craftsman ratchets. They have some really nice small kits that I have now in all my vehicles. Why? I don't know, I guess it makes me feel better or something.

2 pointsBetter than people ‘round here filling their gaping holes with spray foam, coating that with bondo and painting her up real nice with spray bombs!

2 points@Racinbob Same basic message goes for Trina and I. If you need any help or information or even a place to park a camper, let us know. @JCM Jim has a great place about a half hour from the seacoast. We are maybe 30 miles north in the foothills of the White Mountains.

2 pointsI have bought harbor freight tools never had an issue and i well use and abuse tools. The only thing i haven't liked is the cheapy screwdrivers in my 301 set i bought. I use my 301 piece set all the time it is my favorite set of tools. I like the fact everything is in there i need when i go to someone's house to work on there mower. Now saying all that i also own craftsman and snap on. But the snap on stuff was my late dads. My dad use to spend alot on snap on tools but in his later years he was just buying craftsman he was happy with them. Harbor freights icon brand is awesome. If you want quality but not paying the big bucks there you go. But if you want to buy american buy snap on. Here is the set i use the most https://www.harborfreight.com/mechanics-tool-set-301-pc-63464.html

2 pointsI have 3 HF sets - not the dinky $4.99 set. They're the $40ish ones with 1/4-1/2" drive. I've beaten the heck out of them with no complaints. I have broken one socket. HF tools have a lifetime warranty, but I wouldn't feel right taking that socket to be warrantied. It was a 3/8 drive 18mm socket, on the HF 3/8 ratchet with a 6' cheater pipe on it. The socket snapped right as the bolt broke loose. Not the right way to treat tools, I know, but I needed the bolt loose and didn't have a breaker bar with me where I was. Definitely zero complaints, and I see no need to buy a more expensive brand. I own plenty of Craftsman wrenches and assorted sockets, but none that were made in my lifetime. All old stuff and they are good as well. I know their quality has declined in recent years, but I have hope for them yet. They're building a 425,000 sq foot facility right here in Fort Worth, TX, where they will be moving production of all craftsman tools to from China. Excellent to see that more and more companies are moving production back to this side of the world now.

2 pointsI once found a use for the fenders off of a JD 110. The Speed Ex looks to be coming along very nicely. Hopefully you can pick up the JD, they are neat tractors. FYI a 7'x12' trailer will fit 4 tractors quite comfortably.
-
2 pointsI used to do a 35 mile each way commute, 45-ish minutes. The best part... other than riding motorcycle on the good days... was forgetting about the day’s troubles on my way home. Good radio, good times.

2 pointsThis is my second workbench my oldest son and I built together a couple months ago. It is built just like the first one, only shorter so I could mount my bench top drill press at a comfortable height to use.
-
2 pointsPersonally I hunt Evilpay for vintage S&K sets, store the nice little tin cases and use a home cheapo kit-case. Fill it up with cheap, good quality old sockets that will last a lifetime. I keep a full set of metric/standard deep and shallow sockets, small sockets, alan keys, hand tools, fuses, wire, fittings.. etc in an old Black/Decker case behind the seat in my cab. Even enough room for a pair of ratchet straps and a roll of the handyman secret weapon.. I drive an antique. Knock on wood I've never had to open it, but darned if I'm not prepared..
-
2 pointsI've got so many tools I'll never use anymore I'm thinkin about having a garage sale in the spring.

2 pointsMike, you are better off just buying what you need. Buy a tool box that will fit. You want some 1/2" drive sockets and a rachet with a couple of extensions. You don't need 35 sockets you will never use. One for the lug nuts...truck and trailers. The tools to change out a bad trailer bearing...side cutters, carter pins, punch, crescent wrench, ball peen hammer. Maybe some electrical stuff in case trailer lights aren't working. Some rags, hand cleaner, tester for bulbs, bulbs. Maybe an extra bearing and seal. Basically the stuff you wish you had if you broke down. Don't buy a set, just buy what you may need.

2 pointsThe belt guard came yesterday. It's quite a chunk of cast iron! It weighs like 5 pounds, and is 1/8-1/4" thick cast iron. No wonder the original one broke off. Thanks, @55rj35jr for helping me out.
