Got these in the mail today. Only missing one lock nut.

About two years ago I added a 2500 ib capacity Winch in the Rafters of my outside garage. The primary purpose was for mower deck maintenance. I built a small rolling table, lifted the deck and placed it on the rolling table and did whatever The Winch was $50 and it is a 12V dc unit, I use the batter charger to power it. It is secured to the rafters in the garage with 5/8 bolts with Lock nuts. Last week I had a part break on the C81 underneath. Now what. I get vertigo and I can't lie on my back looking up. Plus thats a drag anyway, laying on your back looking up in a very confined space. AHHH..I got an idea ! ... Winch ! I drained the oil into a clean jar, ( for re-use , it only has 5 hours on it ) pumped out the gas with my $10 Harbor Freight pump , ok now I'm ready. But first I added a safety chain next to the Winch in the Rafters. With the tractor in gear, the WInch tied to the front axle, and up it went . Man that was easy. I secured the safety chain, also added two 2x4's for support which ultimately I didn't need . I removed one while working. The safety chain ain't going anywhere so extra 2x4's for security are not needed. The Winch Wire with the heavy duty Safety Chain are plenty safe. Who knows maybe I'll still use an extra 2x4 as well in the future. We can never be TOO SAFE . Working on the bottom of the tractor is now a thing of beauty ! I also used one of those small FREE with purchase Harbor Freight work lights to light up the work area. With work complete, I let the tractor down, refilled the oil, added some gas and went on my merry way. Just a thought tp Oh yeah, when the Tractor is in the LIFT position ,(UP) remove power from the Winch. .

Hi ! I have just bought a 2000 toro 523 dxi , 560 hours on it for the incredible price of 1500 € , it comes with bagger , 48 inch deck and towing cart . Here in spain we have huge problem with spare parts , the distribuitor is only mainly oriented to the proffesional market , like golf courses , football fields.... so the residential customer is many times are being robbed when we request parts for our machines. Right know i´m looking for a recycler kit for my 48 inch mower , the quote was 2300 € . So i´m start to think to make by myself , due to the high prices we usally fix most of the things so we are expertise in diy solutions , weld , laser cut is not a problem for us .

Over the years WH used different size woodruff keys on the axles. It is also a weak spot based on the number of wallowed out keyways I have come across. However, on some units they used the big (but hard to find, McMaster doesn't have them ) #RX key (left in picture). But as best I can figure only on 1054, GT-14 and D series. Now the hubs on those an be a real PIA to pull but I haven't found one with a messed up axle keyway. Kind of obvious in this case that "Size Does Matter". Wonder why they didn't use them more often??? Older tractors 855s, Lawn rangers and the like used #15 keys (Right). C series and later # 22 (center). Anyway I now have a few #RX keys so if you need one....

Added a screen to the openings that I cut into the belt guard; spot welded it in place and finished prepping it for paint. Hopefully Saturday we'll see some red !

Man thatd be great, Id love to see em! Definitely would bring some along for the ride, that actually might go over pretty well- they seem to bring back a lot of memories when folks see them. PS- this pic is from about a year ago, at the time this was about half the collection. I have since downsized but still have 100 or so, most in running order. I buy enough camp fuel to be on the federal watch list, no doubt This is also what my girlfriend fears with this new Wheel Horse addiction hahaha.......

everyone in this neck of the woods all tractors like this are lawn mowers that is their mentality here. a tractor is a piece of equipment used in the field pulling implements on the farm . everyone asks at work how my lawnmower project going i say what lawnmower i have a little tractor

Got the left hub off, actually wasn't too bad, hitch pin also came out with ease. Going to see if I can get the other hub off. Do the pulley and brake come off with a puller or what?

My guess is part of the leaking problem you are having is the amount of heat generated with all the globbed on welding damaged the seals!

Did any trans fluid leak out of the trans dipstick? The trans fill/dipstick port on my 14-8 is near the rear right hand corner of the trans. Not sure where the oil level in the trans would be with the tractor at that angle.

Hey atleast they couldnt weld worth a poo! LOL Should have seen the 1974 sears i had someone did a bang up job welding on the back of it a hitch to mount a ball. What a mess. but when i got done you never knew the mess was there. The key is just take her easy and think it out!

We got about four inches here in Kalamazoo with some ice underneath it. It was enough for me to get out my plow tractor to clean up the driveway of what the plows had pushed into the end it.

Seems another Aussie has a diy kit to build them using a Superjet propulsion system from Yamaha. Looks easy as EdKennell Scrapple. I haven’t tried making that yet either. Maybe both on the same day?

That roll pin should pop right out. I think you have a 4 leaf clover in your pocket to get all that stuff off while I was reading this thread. Make sure you have the shallow side (right side) down when you open up the case. I use an old 1" wood chisel and a pry bar to separate the case. Find the right space and tap the chisel. You might want to file any burrs that are on the ends of the axles, brake and input shafts so the case can slip by the bearings. Trust me, it does not take much to keep from lifting off the case half. AAHH!! That's right, you have a 4 leaf clover. Pullstart, I don't think I would expect any issues with that transmission. I would be interested to know how the oil looked when drained though.

Work the left side hub first. Try to grind off the weld and then see if you can pull the hub off. Also start soaking the hitch pin and that looks like it may not want to slide out. Then yuou can split the case remove the left side take the differential apart and hopefully pull the right side axle and hub out together. The right side hub keyway doesn't look good and the weld may have damaged a lot of the axle. That side may be a lost cause.

I'm a sucker for many things - including small trailers had a number of them - including a small Sears trailer - but it was not as neat as your trailer got rid of most of the trailers - but still have a few - including a neat custom built low profile aluminum trailer with torsion axle and also a small vintage aluminum folding trailer made for VWs or touring motorcycles it folds and carries like a piece of luggage or suitcase believe it was manufactured in France - Besco ? my trailer buried in garage - but found pictures
