7 pointsSince l picked up the 8 horse no name ive used a few parts to up date IRV. Now i'm using a few more parts again. Im replacing the center tower so that l can put the larger gas tank and the newer pto set up. I am also replacing the 14 horse motor that is on it because of the crank bearings are making some noises. I'm transplanting the 12 horse from my old 312-8 for now until I rebuild the 14 hp .

7 pointsWhile taking my morning walk, I heard a racket on my neighbors stone road. Looked to the farm and watched 28 horse and buggies enter the farm. Sorry, no camera and when I got back to the house, the horses were all unhitched and in the barn. Later in the day. About 4PM, they started to leave. The Amish normally congregate on Sundays. I'm not sure if this was a special religious event or a house warming for the young family and their new farm. Quite an interesting event to witness.

4 pointsThe edges of the bracket should have bends so the actual edge of the metal does not contact the belt, just the curve at the bend. You can increase the the bend angle using an adjustable wrench and or also bend the bracket up a little at the 90 deg bend so it doesn't pinch the belt as tight. Just some slight tweaking should be enough.

3 pointsI was also interested in these two 5th wheelers Ed. Really interesting chain drive and mechanical brakes. My Dad had a small trucking business when I was a youngster. He had 4 cab over GMCs pulling car carriers for Dallas & Mavis in Fort Wayne Indiana in the '50s. As a 13 yo, I regularly drove them the 10 mile to a Gulf station where I worked. I pumped a lot of grease onto those 5th wheel plates.

2 pointsHi folks!! I've just purchased my first wheel horse garden tractor!! They're hard to come across in Northern Ireland, it's a C81. Really pleased to have tracked one down. In reasonable condition. I'm also new to forums so trying to find my way about I'm hoping to track down a plough for cultivation. I believe a need a slieve hitch to attach the plough. Since these will also be hard to find is it possible to make your own. Thanks in anticipation!!

2 pointsAnother scrapyard save. wont shift. Looks like most of it’s here with the 67 K241.

2 pointsThe 1990 Johnson 9.9 wasn't pumping as it should this year. So, it was time to replace the pump before winterizing. All the O-ring seals were mush and everything was full of crud. About 4 hours later, I had the old pump out and ordered a new pump kit. Cleaned everything, tapped all the holes and cleaned the bolts.

2 pointsCouple more on their way to a new home. We kept piling stuff in the trailer and into the truck until space was gone. Today was a GREAT day! Got to see Denny again and meet a new friend for the first time. Believe it or not, there’s still a lot of stuff left around here. It’s a lot of fun finding new homes for these treasures. steve

2 pointsWell ..... They could always just move........... Sooooppeerr nice job on that trailer.
-
2 pointsDone with all but graphics!!! Test run (Empty) went great!!! Very happy with it. On the look out for a train bell and a horn...neighbors should be thrilled... Just need graphics and the nieces and nephews!!! Not necessarily in that order... Went with built in seats instead of milk crates...can’t give up that many of my go to saw horses! @AMC RULES and @pullstart please note the obligatory adult beverage in the photo op...

2 pointsCould be the fuse holder for the 30 amp fuse want bad. Other than that I would clean and tighten all connections.
-
2 points@Ralph S... I had a CC 1050 many moons ago that's what I traded in on my Anniversary 520H in 1998 it's cool to see one thanks for the pics.
-
2 pointsShifter fixed. Broken roll pin.Got spark. The boy is gunna clean his first Carter carb.
-
2 pointsThat looks just like the one I had on my C-141 that cratered about 500 feet from the shop (and she has the front mount mower so towing is a big issue) I wish you luck hearing from the vendor (and/or China). I am now only using Facet posiflow pumps made in USA (not the one in Japan)
-
2 pointsI just keep extra pre cleaners on hand, chang as needed. My 1989 520-h has 2000 hours on it with out engine trouble, I think you fellas might be over thinking things. Keep it clean, when conditions are dusty change the oil more and the pre filter more often.
-
2 pointspossibly just a poor design maybe a good way to sell a lot of air filters and the warm air thing makes little sense - because most grass cutting is done in warmer weather the shroud filling up with debris is also annoying I considered a fender or shroud of some type for the left front - after watching the fan pull in debris and leaves from the left front tire as the tractor moves forward at one point I mounted a small flat snow brush with Velcro on the left cover - so I could brush off the debris from the shroud without dismounting
-
2 pointsMy! Pennsy is just littered with Wheel Horsies at bargain basement prices. Just what I was looking for - a cheap wrecked 520 with an Eaton 11 just waiting for me. Fantastic score! I would have peeled off a Benjie without thinking and you actually argued? That compounds the score.

2 pointsSo, I'm on vacation in Orlando with my family for 10 days. I told Tom @Zeek that if I had a couple of free hours that I would try to pay him a visit at his new home. Well I did just that. Drove about 1-1/2 hours each way and with his good directions, I easy found his beautiful new "horse ranch". Had a great visit with Tom and Sue and got the tour. Here I am (in the hat) with Zeek in front of his red golf cart (it is Florida, right?) In the golf cart ready for my tour. In the "outback" chasing wild turkeys. Tom and Sue on their front porch. Here's the new garage we saw earlier on his relocation thread. Very nice. You might need some more tractors Tom A side shot of the house. So that ends my visit. Wish I could have stayed longer, but I left 5 others in our rented Villa with no transportation. Hope to get back again Tom.

2 pointsYou know I mentioned to my wife how easy it would be to have some kind of show in the back pasture area She wants to put four-legged horses back there though. Not that I'm opposed to that, but the red ones are less work than the hairy ones
-
2 pointsI guess I ain't been following your work on the tube as I should Vin my bad .... fact is last ime I followed you was on the fence to resto or orginal on this one. Sounds like you are going the resto route on this gem. For what it's worth i would consider it sacriledge to fill in those pits with BF but these clowns here have me washed on original these days. I would think of a way to pit those rims to match. Even with new paint those pits have a way of shining through and saying I am old stuff. I have chewed Dan's @ss @Achto about not not filling in spot weld dimples on his restos but he likes them so be it . But I get your dilemma. Good luck on whatever trail you go down. Please do keep us posted.

1 pointJust found this for my son (12) who has been begging for a tractor for his "lawn/leaves/snow business" . He has been pulling everything around in our old red wagon. Gave it some time to see how serious he was and here we are. We bought this tractor, not running but turning over after researching and the praise this forum has given them. Was told mechanical fuel pump was bad and a electric one was put on and wired in to headlight switch for power ??? Also told would not start because the gentlemen thought carb needed adjusted and was fouling the plug out. It turned over pretty well so I told my son my thoughts but told him it was up to him. He said he loved it, let's get it and was very excited which impressed me. Got it home on the trailer and we started to investigate. Fuel system full of Brown gunk from tank to carb. Cleaning and redoing with a Faucet fuel pump from Kirk Engines and Dorman #55240 glass fuel filter. Now to the ignition system, ignition wire worn badly with boot half gone. Points had some build Up. After reading about Kirk Engines here I went and checked his site. Ordering parts list is --- 1) Trandenser II Electronic Ignition System: $35.00 (1) Bosch Blue Ignition Coil: $65.00 (1) High-Performance Ignition Wire: $8.00 (1) Genuine Kohler Breaker Points: $15.00 (1) Breaker Points & Cover Retaining Screw Kit: $2.00 (1) Facet Solid State Electronic Fuel Pump: $57.00 USPS Priority Shipping - $12.00 Total - $194.00 I thought this might be a good way to make this as bullet proof as possible for my son after some training. Also have a back plate for fuel pump, NGK 3212 and gas cap on the way. Any thoughts and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Still have receipts. Thanks

1 pointNot exactly "in my mirror", but is this close enough to count? Went up in a C-47 today. Was pretty cool!

1 pointFind the 9 pin connector, usually white. Unplug and check for a burned connection.
-
1 pointNo need to clean the carb. New fuel line and filter. Started right up. Lol. Gunna go get a battery tmw and take it for a drive.
-
1 pointThis really needs to be put in the "Wanted Section" in the Classifieds. The answer to your question is yes, they are probably on E-Bay...some members may have one for you...you can re-build the one you have. If you need the gasket, I think @buckrancher sells them.

1 pointWelcome to Red Square. I have a daughter living in Northern Ireland since 1989. We have been over to visit. Hope to hear more from you. You will find this forum to be very helpful.
-
1 pointThanks for the info. No specific tractor in mind yet. Just planning for future projects as they come along. Bill
-
1 pointPic of my machine. Plan on draining, flushing and replacing all lubricants in first instance. Points are missing a cover so plan as a priority to track that down. Is it a standard cover on kohler engines or is it engine model specific? Starts on turn off key.

1 pointThat's okay for businesses Mike, because they pass along the cost to the consumer. But for the individual who is trying to get something for himself at the best possible price, it's a problem, especially for those of us on a fixed income.

1 pointfast, great tractor there , despite the obvious unkept look that could turn you off , its the mechanical s in it that will let it live on . a thorough basic maintenance go through , i would go after fuel and electrical first . verify and upgrade at every stage . then oils and through greasing . remember catching up on neglect takes time , as you bring things back to a better life , make the adjustments and needed lubrication to enhance its function, i personally love older mechanical equipment that works without effort, and work on it till it does . keep us informed , pete

1 pointThat side job is a great way to get your hands on the fun stuff. I've scored an old engine or weed-wacker or two but not a clean 520! As for those oldies, it's amazing that having been pulled from the Georgia clay, like mine, they still have an engine that can come to life, a decent trans and maybe even a good deck. Remarkable machines.
-
1 pointBe careful with that Onan. It is possible that it has a governor problem that won't show up until it's hot. Goggle Onan governor flyball spacer for more information. Bill
-
1 pointGood looking tractor. I have a C-160 that’s a mule of a worker, and a C-161 project in the barn
-
1 pointSides are up! They are going to be Regal Red. Its even gonna be a Black Hood! Also change of seating plans...The folding chairs just weren’t gonna cut it...going with milk crates with thin butt pads...kids are gonna have to rough it...crates are gonna be black...lower center of gravity and way easier to attach / take apart... Also gonna stick with the existing wheels... true railroad style... it will get minimal use at very slow speed, asphalt only...so we shall see how they hold up...I expect to be putting some wheels on it next summer... The “Train” Plan is: 1) tractor... 2) large wheel barrow conversion (tender)... 3) 4 person passenger car... 4) small wheel barrow conversion (caboose)... @Vinylguy has already been contacted to start graphics order for the “Sylvan Lake & Wheel Horse Western RR” banners

1 pointThanks for posting these Ed! I took special interest in this one, since I live right on the edge of Spring City. I believe this one came from Jones Motor, a local trucking company that's been in business in one form or another since 1894, I think this is probably one of their very first motor trucks. Thanks again!

1 pointEvery weekend that Notre Dame has a home game one of the things we look forward to is the low flying military aircraft coming over the house. I don't know if it's practice runs or they are just putting on a show for the locals but it's cool. This week it was two large prop planes, maybe cargo? I couldn't manage to get both of them in one picture but the two of them were close. It never fails to send chills down my spine. Even more so when the fighter jets go over. Their speed and noise combined with the low altitude rattle the entire house. These big guys seemed to fly so slow that I could keep up with them on my Wheel Horse.
-
1 pointYeah I just found a starter generator for one of them for 15.00 bucks because it was missing but i have to rebuild it
-
1 point@cafoose I remember in 1989 when I went to my local dealer to purchase a WH and found the 312-8 was in my price range and unfortunately the 520-H sitting next to it with a price tag of 4000.00 and another 700.00 got you a 42'' SD deck not something that a lot of customers were willing to dish out unless you really knew what a WH tractor was capable of and to this day it amazes me that someone could let a beautiful piece of USA machinery end up in that state. I applaud you for bringing that home and saving it in some way to let yourself or others possibly let it live on. Thank you
-
1 pointVery cool! Looks like if you found a couple seats, wheels and a seat pan you'd have three complete tractors. Looks like the B-80 is all there. If you aren't familiar with the hydro tractors, there is a valve on the C-141 that you open to allow it to freewheel so that you can push it. Pushing it with the valve closed will damage the hydro. The valve is located on the LH side of the tractor, up under the seat pan near the front of the rear wheel.

1 pointWell it was certainly great to see you! You are the first Wheel Horse visitor I've had Thanks for taking the time to drive all the way over. I wish you could have stayed longer. It's great to have friends all over the US and abroad simply because we all became interested in the same tractor. I was sad that I missed the show this year. Bob was one of the first people I got to know back in 2010 and explained how things went and has been a great resource for information . Over the years we were fortunate to be able to get together with some other friends here on the forum at different shows in the southern PA area and had a great time . Have a great trip back to MD and see you again .

1 pointI restored the 1983 GT1142 I rode from 1983 on up for a long while at Dad's house. I wanted something for it and saw one of these at the Big Show and liked it. It is a plastic magnetic sign, I bought it from at TheBadgefactory.com, they are near the Big Show.
-
1 pointI have a 520-h and love it I bought it new in 1989 has 2000 plus hours on it and still going strong. I would how ever be nervous getting one with a motor problem because parts are expensive and if you are not familiar with onan motors they are a challenge. If everything else is in good shape I would say 500 is most I would give for it.
