10 points@SparkyYour reference to that WH with the Hemi sparked my recollection when in the late 70's I received a phone call from a friend of mine who wanted to know if I was interested in going to look at a 1971 Dodge Super Bee with a 4 speed/ 426 HEMI for sale by the original owner, I am sure you know what my response was. This car, or should I say machine was located in the same town we both lived in but neither of us had never seen or even heard that there was one of these 10 minutes away. Keep in mind that we both owned Muscle cars, he a 1970 Cuda 340 4 speed and myself had recently sold a 1970 challenger and had purchased the 70 chevelle SS.When we arrived and walked up the driveway and when the garage door opened there was not 1 but 2 1971 Super Bee's inside, a purple one and an orange one, our jaw's both just about hit the floor, the owner asked which one he was interested in and he said the orange one. I believe the mileage was around 30,000 and the price was around, hold on to your recliner, in the 3500.00 range. After the transaction I was able to go for a ride in that car and I would have to say it was enjoyable to say the least. My friend was extremely responsible with this car and kept it for many years. Hope you liked this story.

6 pointsWell started tearing down the 877 I bought at the Big Show. Decided to go through the whole tractor and clean it up, wet sand and clear coat the sheet metal and do some painting on the frame and engine. Wheels will get sand blasted and painted. I'll be going through the electric wiring and adding lights. Fuel lines will be new too. I went through the motion control system, replaced the missing springs, got a new cam from @daveoman, installed that and flipped the retainers over and I think it should function properly once I get the tractor back together. Now for some pictures Got it tore down Nice pile of parts to work on Got a couple of parts clear coated, so the refresh has begun. Once I can get it all back together I'll finish it off will Terry 's fantastic decals.

6 pointsI'm working, My Amish neighbor showed up in my shop at 7AM this morning. He and his wife had been picking corn and cantaloupes since 3AM. Seems his 3yo was playing on his fork lift and managed to lose the keys. He was in a bit of a panic as he had to load 7 containers of sweet corn and 2 containers of cantaloupes and get it to auction by 9AM. A wheel Horse ignition switch had the Hyster Fork Lift running in 20 minutes. He paid me with 4 ears of corn and a cantaloupe.

5 pointsI went to harbor freight and bought one of their portable sheds for some of my horses. I got the extended warranty so if anything happens to it in three years I get a new one! It tells you just to slip the pipes together but I put a duct work screw in each pipe and also screwed it to a heavy 4 x 4 frame to hold it down.

4 pointsI spent a bunch of time trying to find out why sometimes it would start but quite after 30 seconds. Some times it would not even fire . Sometimes it would fire and run for 5 seconds. Instead of the Long story of what all I did it came down to one loose wire that fell off the thing that says the air cleaner is plugged. The switch that has a small hose from the underside if the air cleaner housing going to the backside of the dash. what I did that was not the problem, changed out coil, changed condenser, changed plug wires, even took the top of the carb off and pulled the float and cleaned out the bowl. Only thing left to do was to set the lifter gap. And change the low oil sensor. hope this helps somebody someday !

4 pointsI’m a Kohler man. I’d find an 8hp Kohler with a starter generator and repower that baby as an 855! I just put a piston and rings in Emory’s 855 that was good at fogging mosquitoes. Found very little wear, even to the bore and it runs like a scalded dog now! Good for another 50 years!

4 pointsAnother option is to ditch the reflectors and install lights. You can buy lights the same size as the reflectors. Wire them into the headlight circuit and you’ll have proper tail lights.

4 pointsHowever you clean it it will start rusting again. I would recommend Eastwood gas tank sealer or POR 15 Gas tank sealer. i did the tank on my Case VAC about 14 years ago still clean inside and no rust. https://www.eastwood.com/gas-tank-sealer-kits-eastwood-gas-tank-sealer.html

4 pointsBack in the late 70's Forbes Magazine had a small article about collecting muscle cars from the 60's and early 70's for investment purposes. They said definitely not a good investment, sometimes even the smart guys get it wrong.

4 pointsBack in the '60s while growing up on the North Side of Chicago, we had a local pizzaria. I remember that pizza at that time was just gaining popularity. Hard to believe today! The young delivery guy had replaced what ever nondescript car that he drove with a 1966 Corvette Stingray (C2) that had the 427 and side pipe option. Talk about fast delivery! It probably was purchased used as this was about 1967. It was about eight months later, after going through a winter, that I happened by the pizzaria. Right in front (in the no parking zone of course) was a brand new 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi Four-Speed. Chuck had traded his Vette for a Black-on-Black Charger! No stripes to spoil the lines of the first year offering. As it happened, he had a delivery to make and asked if I wanted to come along for a ride. Duh, yes! Climbing inside I was taking it all in. Not the cockpit of his Vette. What I recall was this bit of a corkscrew shifter (probably an Inland OEM and not the later production Hurst OEM) with a white shifter ball up in the air. We delivered the pizza - and then found a semi-deserted street down by the tracks. That is when we probably got up to 70 just into 3rd and still pulling on a side street in the city. Luckily no cops, pedestrians, or other cars on the deserted street. Nice press into the upholstery!

3 pointsI agree, almost all the problems I have had with my Kohler 8HP are ones I caused myself by touching, bumping, or adjusting things that I should have left alone. Most of my issues started when I tried to replace the muffler and knocked the throttle ring and governor loose while trying to get the old pipe out of the head. Personally, I'd like to repower to a 10HP, but its gonna be a while.

3 pointsMid life crisis in full swing! We’ve got 23 Wheel Horses, 2 Ford garden tractors, a Ford 2000, Ford 8N, John Deere 750, VW Bug, VW Thing, and a Dodge Ram. Lots of woodworking tools too. I’m toy poor and very happy!!!

3 pointsI added equal parts boiled water a super clean into my tank, added a foot long section of chain, and shook that sucker like a pissed off baby with a rattle. Did that a few times until it stopped coming out nasty color. Then I replaced the sediment bowl.

3 pointsYou may very well be able to get more than five volumes out of that. I've told friends and family quite a few times over the years... As the person who is giving the advice, I would have to say it is in your best interest to follow nearly zero of what I say.
-
3 pointsIf there was any way we could archive when you give relationship handling advice, we could publish an entire “relationships with tractors in the mix for dummies”, albums 1-5!

3 pointsDon’t sound like a problem to me...I’ve got 4 trucks (and looking for a 5th) a motorhome and a camper, 6 Wheel Horses, a Choremaster walk behind, and a Ford 9n I just bought. And always on the lookout for more toys, can’t have too many

3 pointsSo come to find out the unit was not sold after all. All mine for the princely sum of $320 American dollars. I had to get to a picnic and figured at that price I could part it out and probably make money so I didn't kick the tires too long. The good: Overall in good shape, muffler is actually fine, pulls strong, all original except new front tires, new points, all gears work in high and low, someone installed a 12v accessory plug for some reason (AND even fused it! :P) The bad: Tranny has a slow leak on the left side seal (hopefully not TOO bad a job... caught it a little late), gear shifting is a little hit and miss but eventually gets there, surges a bit at full throttle (idle is ok) but probably needs a carb clean and/or other tuning, or maybe an electric pump. If there is enough to do on it I'll start a new thread, but for now it's all mine Thx again for all the feedback! HBD Murica!
