7 pointsI brought home a nice RJ59 from Squonk and a start/Gen belt guard, a deck stop and a hitch for my 1067 resto an a whole new appreciation for a lot of guys and their passion for horses! I was amazed at the parts selection available.... after trying to shop for parts on fleabay and what they wanted $$ wise I thought my projects would be out of reach....no more after the show. There's a saying among us fans of old Clintons that if you say you can't find parts you are not looking.....certainly holds true for all old horses! Yes next year a more extensive list! ☺

6 pointsIf I can make a suggestion, since the group is getting bigger and bigger how about setting up the picture at the building with all of the nice horses in it. The entrance is like a riser and I think the people in the back will show up better. Just a thought.

6 pointsI also picked up a snow thrower at the Big Show and put it on Squonk's Ezra. ( 12) that I bought from him after we got back home. I reinstalled the running boards and the original hood he had removed to keep them from getting damaged when he put a snow cab on it. Next winter I'll be ready for anything Mother Nature throws at me Course if it's anything like last winter I won't need it. I never got to use the Commando 8 /blower I had set up for last year.I had to free up the chain, soaked in muratic acid for a couple days, rinsed it well and then soaked it oil for a couple more days. Restrung the cable for the chute. Sprockets and bearings are fine, should be good to go.

"When Cale was following me on that last green-flag lap, I didn't have the foggiest idea what I was going to do," Petty said. "It was a circumstance where he would act and I'd react. We touched two or three times but not enough to upset either car." After taking the checkered, Petty returned to the start/finish line, parked his famous No. 43 car and headed to a VIP booth to meet the president before celebrating his win in Victory Lane. Following the race President Regan joined the drivers and crew members for a picnic lunch of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

6 pointsI put the transmission in yesterday and painted the rest of the pieces except the hydraulic pump(still needs work). I will put it all together tomorrow except the rear hubs and tires because I do not have the seals yet.

5 pointsBack in Febuary of this year,my dear friend Felix passed away.He was 92 years old and had a very active life right up to the end.Back in 1988 or 89 he bought a brand new 520H.Over the years,he had many questions about Wheel Horse tractors.I would ocassionally help him with little things like changing spark plugs,sharpening mower blades,etc.Yesterday morning,his daughter pulled in my yard and asked me if I wanted Dad's old tractor.She said it had a flat tire and if I didn't want the tractor,they'd just get rid of it.Of course,I said I'd be over in the morning to get it.He lived about 1/3 of a mile from me.I brought my air tank and the Squaw and I took the truck and trailer to get it.We aired up the tire and pushed the tractor on my trailer and brought it home.I charged the battery and it started right up.Needs a little love,but not a real lot.Has a real nice 42 in.SD deck that turns nice and quiet.Perfect seat on it.Real good original paint.Check out his home made parking brake handle.Piece of 1/2 inch copper pipe ,a tee,and two 90 deg. elbows. Gonna leave it as is as a tribute to my old Pal.Thanks Felix I miss you every day.

5 points953 nut you are exactly right!! I did do some painting. In the mold shop I'm use to working with a quick turnaround time. Figured this would be a good weekend to do extra work on the 1054. Here's a June 23rd picture when I brought it home. And July 3rd pictures after a little painting.

4 pointsFinished putting my seat update on the 1054 today. Yes, I know it's not original, but my tired Old back Loves it !! Took the seat pan off from a parts mower I have for my "Box Store"rider. Went to the Farm store picked out a seat. Made up a a mounting bracket and we are off to the races. Still able to access the fuel tank. Thanks! to Lane Ranger and others for photos they posted giving me ideas for this update.

3 pointsHi all this my latest project which is nearing completion it's a Wheelhorse C175 with two driven axles at the rear and a driven steering ache at the front it is powered by a two cylinder Kubota engine , power steering this has taken me nearly two yrs to think about and build Meadofield was my inspiration after seeing and driving C4 and Bendy il post more build pics in due course

3 pointsUsually a pneumatic impact wrench is best, but an electric one may also do the job. If not, use a pneumatic die grinder with a thin cut-off wheel and cut into the nut as far as possible, making a 'notch' in the nut. Then, set your cold chisel into that notch at a slight angle...then try to back it off that way. You'll ruin the nut but that's a gimme already. ps...If in fear of smashing your hand when holding that chisel, get an in-law to hold it for you.

2 pointsThe main two things to identify a RJ25 is the hood not having a gas cap hole since the tank on a Briggs is mounted to it, no kill switch or evidence of holes where one was ever screwed to the hood since you put your finger through the hole to kill the engine with the tab instead, and last is the engine if the original one is still there it should be a Briggs Model 8 cast iron block 2.5 HP with the larger gas tank mounted to it. The rest of the tractor's details is hit and miss and is really irregardless of it being a RJ25 or not since these are the main know differences IMO.....I have a early 55 RJ25 I just finished restoring and took to the PA Show so I have been doing a lot of research.....LoL There is very little info know about the RJ25 and hardly no facts on it so it can be a real challenge to determine....

2 pointsI'm manager of a local hardware store and I can see some bothersome trends. While the dollar has always been important today's price point pressure from imports has taken value to a new perspective. Most all of us know that when Harbor Freight takes on Snap-On price-wise there is NO comparison, but while we might also say that when Snap-On takes on Harbor Freight performance, precision, durability and so on there is also no comparison but to the everyday consumer the difference in price just can't be understood or withstood! Both brand wrenches will remove most nuts most of the time! And for the average consumer that's all he needs! Making a great product is one thing. Making money is another and while corporations might prefer to make great products, they have to make money to exist. Apparently it's hard to make both quality and profit... Wheel Horse did both for a very long time and their products and legacy continues. Thankfully Toro kept them going for as long as they could and still make money! I guess it's mostly up to us to make Wheel Horse products and their legacy last as long as it can...

2 pointsThat is the primer lever, it moves the diaphragm to prime prior to starting. After a few pumps you should hear a change of sound as the float bowl fills.

2 pointsGetting the nuts off my deck blades was one of the many reasons I justified the expense of an air compressor to the management ( wife ) - broke more than one Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet years ago with this task - after I got air and my impact , went on the bay and bought a single 1 1/8 " socket by Mac tools ( a good one ) just for this ....I think the socket cost me 3 or 4 bucks . Had a neighbor a few years ago that bought a to mow , seen him for the longest time one afternoon banging around with the deck of this newly bought horse , my nose trouble got the best of me and I walked over to see what problems he was having - same thing ....he had every ratchet, breaker bar and hammer on those nuts in the garage .....I says ....what if I told you I have an impact wrench ? I don't think the PO ever had the blades off - took a little time with the impact . He moved and that is in my garage now. No, they are not left threads

2 pointsI picked up a plow and frame from fun engineer. A gift of an input shaft from Terry m. A seat spring, pedal, and footrest from Red Horse 54. A tiller bracket, idler pulley, and belt guard as well as a gift of an input shaft from dclarke. A gift hood from Squonk. A mower deck from casual observer. A seat cover from Mrs. Buckrancher. Thank you each and every one. I also picked up a seat pan with spring and a home made mower deck for parts and of course some other little goodies.

2 pointsImpact wrench, whether electric or pneumatic and or breaker bars are really a necessity when you tinker with old machines. And, as a note, I cracked a 1 1/8 inch craftsman standard socket removing the blade off my 60 inch C195 deck this past week. I knew better but did not have that size in the socket set for my air tools. 4 stores later, I had the correct socket and within 3 minutes had the stubborn nut acting submissive.....
