15 pointsYou all know Scott, @whfan74 as a moderator here, administrator of the Facebook Page Wheel Horse Junkies and the host of the second largest Wheel Horse show in the world, and most importantly a family man and incredible teacher. Scott has poured his heart and soul into Wheel Horses, and spread his knowledge here, on Facebook and by creating a club in the school where he teaches to teach young students about mechanical machines through Wheel Horse. Earlier this week, Scott asked to step down from being a moderator here at RedSquare. I can imagine that with all his activities going on, the added responsibility of being a moderator here doesn't help with enjoying what he wants to enjoy most. I am grateful for Scott's contributions here, his dedication to the forum and for his annual show. While he's not leaving the forum, he will not be wearing the Moderator Badge (unless he changes his mind, he's always welcome back as a Moderator here). Scott, thank you for your help, guidance and friendship. I enjoyed every conversation with you and hope to meet up with you again in person soon.

7 pointsJohn, You didn't wake up one morning and say "I'm going to have a stroke today", but you did. S**t happens that we never expect. You can lay down and let it beat you, or you can stand up and beat it. I know what you will do.

6 pointsI bought this old air compressor from an auction site in Kansas. In the picture supplied I assumed the compressor was a small compressor, when I went to pick it up, without the trailer I was pleased and surprised. We (four guys and a crane) got it into the back of my van, barely, its sits 51 inches tall on skids. The previous owner was the City of Augusta, Kansas and they bought it new in the mid 60s. It was wired by two hot leads and the flex conduit served as ground. I didn't want to hook it up that way due to a previous bad experience with being electrocuted by a compressor on rubber tires plugged into 240 with a hot lead that broke off and electrified the entire machine. I ran romex inside the conduit and attached the ground inside the pressure box to a screw that attached to the compressor plate and used a standard 3 prong welder plug. Sure is much quieter than my old harbor freight chip and bang compressor and puts out a lot of air. Best 150.00 I ever spent.

5 pointsI finally made a little more progress. I got the back wheels and tires broke down. Blasted the back wheels and painted front and rear wheels. Cleaned the tires to prep for tire paint. Also put final coat of primer (I hope) on the hood. Steering wheel painted and ready to install. Poor 15 came in so I can treat the gas tank and paint it.

4 pointsOK Guys, It is still heavily mocked up, but starts from the seat and drives. Donor parts were from: 857, Lawn Ranger, C-120, Toro RER. One of those green ones, and my local steel supply store. Almost forgot there are Crapsman pieces too. For your viewing pleasure. Powered by a 4HP electric start Kohler. Plan to have it done for the L&G Tractor Extravaganza in Evansville, Indiana in June. Mods, please rotate this image, thanks David

4 pointsHey all, started getting into my 502 to sandblast & repaint, finding more and more issues though. Does anyone know of an online site to buy new old stock parts? I have a botched weld job on one of the steering arms. I'm going to attempt to cut and grind out the old weld and repair but if it doesn't work I'll need a something. According to my manual it's part number 3919 (steering arm). Another part is the bevel pinion part number 3917. Mine still works but has a tooth broken off. Local dealer can't get the parts and I've tried a few sites like Rcpw and such but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks!

4 pointsCraig, Yup pretty much. I bought the body at an auction last fall (it was cheap) Tried for the longest to make it a 2 up, just wouldn't happen. Drop center frame, and relocated the steering forward, If you look close the shifter can be seen just behind the steering pedestal, clutch and brake controls moved to the center as well. The body is pretty wide and my butt is close to the ground so a low floor was required, which also necessitated dropping all controls to a small center tunnel.

3 pointsI just got done wrestling off a drive pulley, fly wheel. Ordinary pullers did fine. Then I spent two days fighting with GT14 hubs. Once again the hydraulic puller has risen to one of the best purchases I've made this past year. It took all 10 tons of muscle as well as heat and Kroil along with my own stubbornness but the hubs lost the fight again.

3 pointsKevin, I have this, the 59 and the 56 both getting full redos and many others torn apart in various stages. I hope to finish this and the 59 in the next month or so, they are getting close.

3 pointsThat there is some good math! No charge for the deck I'm guessing and then a "Close enough thank you for your purchase!" By the way.... $620.00 in 1963 had the same buying power as $4,823.87 in 2016. per http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm

3 points3-18-1852 Wells and Fargo start shipping and banking company On this day in 1852, in New York City, Henry Wells and William G. Fargo join with several other investors to launch their namesake business. The discovery of gold in California in 1849 prompted a huge spike in the demand for cross-country shipping. Wells and Fargo decided to take advantage of these great opportunities. In July 1852, their company shipped its first loads of freight from the East Coast to mining camps scattered around northern California. The company contracted with independent stagecoach companies to provide the fastest possible transportation and delivery of gold dust, important documents and other valuable freight. It also served as a bank–buying gold dust, selling paper bank drafts and providing loans to help fuel California’s growing economy. In 1857, Wells, Fargo and Co. formed the Overland Mail Company, known as the “Butterfield Line,” which provided regular mail and passenger service along an ever-growing number of routes. In the boom-and-bust economy of the 1850s, the company earned a reputation as a trustworthy and reliable business, and its logo–the classic stagecoach–became famous. For a premium price, Wells, Fargo and Co. would send an employee on horseback to deliver or pick up a message or package. Wells, Fargo and Co. merged with several other “Pony Express” and stagecoach lines in 1866 to become the unrivaled leader in transportation in the West. When the transcontinental railroad was completed three years later, the company began using railroad to transport its freight. By 1910, its shipping network connected 6,000 locations, from the urban centers of the East and the farming towns of the Midwest to the ranching and mining centers of Texas and California and the lumber mills of the Pacific Northwest. After splitting from the freight business in 1905, the banking branch of the company merged with the Nevada National Bank and established new headquarters in San Francisco. During World War I, the U.S. government nationalized the company’s shipping routes and combined them with the railroads into the American Railway Express, effectively putting an end to Wells, Fargo and Co. as a transportation and delivery business. The following April, the banking headquarters was destroyed in a major earthquake, but the vaults remained intact and the bank’s business continued to grow. After two later mergers, the Wells Fargo Bank American Trust Company–shortened to the Wells Fargo Bank in 1962–became, and has remained, one of the biggest banking institutions in the United States.

3 pointsI remember having this problem when I added zerk fittings to the pedals on my C141 (they did not come with zerks back in1978). I think I remember going back to the hardware store and getting ones with shorter threads. Although, even the shorter ones would protrude into the bushing area on your application. Welding on a nut is a good low cost solution. Backyard mechanics always come up with creative solutions. Another entry for my WH "tip book"

3 pointsYou got that right , we would find after the barn was sold as is , where is , to the America Pickers who then got one guys from the mid west to appraise the find and end up buying everything including the barn.

3 pointsIt is a 16hp kohler so interest level will be higher than the lower hp powered horses. But it will come down to how well it runs and drives and what attachments you have for it.
