6 pointsThought we should start a post as this should get a lot of conversation. Just got my new Lawn & Garden Tractor Magazine. Even though I`ve seen them in person, there are some great pictures of the custom " cars" Wallfish built. Good job on the "cars" John, and congratulations for making the magazine. And good article Kate. You both make Red Square proud...

6 pointsI had an Uncle who made a career in the Navy. And He loved his hooch. God Bless him. And I thank him for his service.
-
5 pointsWow.. that's about 1 gallon of water and 200 gallon of alcohol per day per man. That had to be one boat load of drunken smelly sailors. .
-
5 pointsHere are some photos I took of John's "car" horse during the 2015 Big Show. It was a hit with me and everyone who stopped and looked at it. A real combo of Wheel Horse parts and inqenuity!

4 pointsI seen this and had to pass it on.. The U. S. S.. Constitution (Old Ironsides), as a combat vessel, carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (i.e. fresh water distillers). However, let it be noted that according to her ship's log, "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and79,400 gallons of rum ." Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and68,300 gallons of rum. Then she headed for the Azores , arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine . On 18 November, she set sail for England. In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war ships, and captured and scuttled 12 English merchant ships, salvaging only the rum aboard each. By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. Her landing party captured a whisky distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home. The U. S. S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food,no powder, no rum , no wine , no whisky , and 38,600 gallons of water . GO NAVY !

3 pointsI'm liking these guys already!! NAVY...can't imagine why it is the best branch of the service. You know...you can work up a thirst salvaging all that stuff. This really parallels my trip to the BIG SHOW. California would be proud of their water conservation practices.

3 pointsLooks like it might be solar powered, that large flat panel is the solar collector and it drives a motor. I bet he could get an alternative fuel tax credit for that!

2 pointsSven invents the first motorized whiskey delivery vehicle. The Ponds take note of the ingenious handle design and model the earliest Walkaway prototype with the motto "If you drink, don't walk...accidents cause people". Mrs. Pond is not amused and puts an end to the plan...

2 pointsThanks guys! Kate (tractorchick here on RS) was nice enough to do an article on these since she saw them at the big show. Nice to get a RedSquare plug in there too. Karen (kthack657 here on RS) also did a nice article in the WHCC newsletter on them. Billy Albright, WHCC president, put a sign on the first one after he bought it which read " El Presidentes Car ". Then he drove it in the parade.

2 pointsI've finished most of the painting. Mounted an aftermarket seat. I am still waiting for the wheels to come back from the powder coat shop, but I do have the tires ready to mount. I had to cut off the front 6" of the belt guard, and make a bracket to support the front of it where is was supported by the engine. I'll get a picture of that tomorrow.

2 pointsJust make sure you dress for the weather Lane...you never know about Minnesota weather this time of the year because Almost anything goes as far as weather. I'm not planning doing much this year as far as shows go, but I might be at this one also along with SHYNON and Prondzy..

2 pointsI think Wheel Horses offer more function, better bang for the buck, best dependability, simplest ease of service and the most readily available source of parts and attachments than any other brand! Period! I think that overall, everything considered, Wheel Horses are the best bargain for garden tractors available! You'll easily notice I don't have just Wheel Horses either, and I'm not saying they are the best GT and certainly not the only good garden tractor but overall I do think they are the best value. They were marketed as a tractor with many attachments that would get you through all seasons and while then it would have been price prohibitive, today's pricing says we might be able to have some dedicated task machines. We can't be expected every snow storm to use the blower and then swap for a blade for final cleanup! So take that idea a bit further and why should we take off mower deck and swap for a snow blower anyway. That takes a few minutes and really isn't fun or accomplishing anything! And what if one tractor is attached to a cart that has top soil in it and you need to haul something? Got to have another tractor and cart! And what if you have a LOT of dirt to move? Or a big hole to dig? Can't be swapping FELs and backhoes! What if you are trying to provide quality food for your family with an organic garden? Might as well ride while you till! And on and on it goes! It just makes good sense to have more than several! OK, I got a little excited there. Guys! Where's the next meeting?

1 pointMost of my deck hitches are badly worn so I decided to make a couple. These are for my 42" and 48" decks. 60" is completely different. They are just tacked together now to check for fitment, I will take them back to work for final welding and painting. I have drawn up the plans, I will scan them and post as well. Cleat

1 pointI trust one of your 5XXxis has "Smart Steer"? Several dislike it (Wheel Horse even offered a disabling kit!) but I like it. I've tried to roll mine and so far I can't. Flat out as fast as I can go in cruise and a hard turn just slows down and turns. Straighten out and off she goes again! All I touch is the steering wheel! Now it is different than if I were to do it all myself since I know the tree is coming up, but it does work.

1 pointThanks for all the info guys. I only just saw the pedal but didn't exactly know it's function. For some reason, at a quick glance, I thought to was a throttle pedal. Stupid me..... My 520 has an absolutely fluid hydro lever. My 416 was very jerky but with some adjustments and lubrication it works very good now, it only took me 2 years to do. Now the pedal makes more sense and I want to do it even more.

1 pointThere were no wheel horses at all in FL craigslist. Pensacola and Panama City

1 pointI know 3600 is generally the maximum for most engines. I do recall seeing that one of the larger Kohler twins is governed to 3200 or 3400 RPM so I think you're fine at 3600 RPM as long as your governor is working properly.
