9 pointsWe have had weeks of rain here in the UK. It seemed like a good idea to go for a play in the mud. until we got stuck, here's a few pics and a video http://youtu.be/tHyKTt4J6w8

8 pointsI just got the pin out of the transmission on the 854 I just bought, a battle indeed, but I won, and as luck would have it, I didn't break anything else in the process, SWEET! Someone had cut the pin off on both ends and left the rest of it stuck there in the transmission. I had drilled some holes in the mounting area and kept soaking it with PBblaster for quite some time before I started to try to get the pin out. With a 1/4" bit I drilled 80% of the way thru the pin, and then used a 1/2" bit and chased the first hole with that. I kept the hole close to the cast of the transmission to relieve the stress of the pin all the way around. A couple of days of beating on it, heating it, soaking over and over, I managed to win the battle. I just got a pin and lift cable from wheelhorseman, and a slot hitch from Jake Kuhn, thanks guys, and very soon the 854 should be able to pull something again.

7 pointsWell, I haven’t been here often and for a while now. Life has just been not too kind to us lately. About three years ago my wife was diagnosed with the early onset of Parkinson’s and unfortunately this year it has taken a major leap for the worst. The typical early symptoms have now developed to major disabilities which is not only hard to understand and deal with but extremely heartbreaking to watch. To see a vibrant career and family woman, sharp, witty, and totally independent made a total prisoner of this disease at 57 is a terrible thing. Perhaps what makes it worse for her is the fact that she was so independent and active. She is not dealing well with this but then how could anyone do. It’s a constant struggle to try to help her with ordinary things in life that we all take for granted such as cutting a the food on your plate and even being able to hold a phone in your hand to see a photo of your grandchildren. Not that the helping is a struggle for me, but rather the struggle is to do it in a manner that I can still allow her to keep a sense of dignity and purpose in life, which is in a very fragile state at this point. It’s hard but I have come to the conclusion that it is not our place to ask why, but rather to deal with what is given to us the best we can, and enjoy every single minute of our lives, specially our family and friends while it is possible to do so, and not to worry or waste time with the so many meaningless things we all seem to be preoccupied with in today’s world.

6 pointsA very good friend of mine gave me a GT2500 a couple of years (like maybe 8) ago. It's main job was track prep at the R/C track we frequented a lot. No deck and a blown B&S 10 hp, well in a hurry I put a Greyhound 13 hp on it and it has really worked well. Give up the R/C and started pulling GT's so the GT2500 does the yard work and rides my grandson around. I picked up a snow blade, it has the angle and spring trip, adapted it to the WH. Well it snowed today and after work I got to play, that was fun, can't wait for the next snow. My 4 yr. old grandson has helped me do quite a lot of the work on the WH, we sanded the hood and fenders and painted them, and any time I go to the shop he is in tow, and now he wants one of his own. I think this could very easily get addictive, especially with the good help I got.

6 pointsI have been looking for mufflers for my D180 and just couldn't find anything I could afford right now so this is what I came up with and for now it works good, It cut the sound by 2/3rds. I took 1 1/4 emt and cut slots in it 14 of them in 4 rows over a 8 inch span and then took a punch and bent the bottoms of the slots in so that they catch the exhaust then I wrapped the emt with 1/2" square wire mesh and then wrapped the mesh with fiberglass about 3/8 inch thick and then wrapped that with wire just to hold it all in place. I took empty torch cylinders and drilled 1 1/4 holes in each end and then cut them in half and covered the fiberglass. I installed them just to see if they worked. Now I will take them off and welt them up and reinstall them. Like I said they might not work for long but they sound great for now not sure what is going on with the picture

6 pointsFormariz, may God give you the strength to carry on with assisting your wife through her illness. I know it's a difficult thing to do and you seem to be facing life head on and dealing with what comes your way. You and your wife and family will be in my prayers. God bless..

5 pointsBeen trying to get a froze hitch pin out (like we have never heard that one before have we gang lol.) finally got the pin to rotate in the transmission. The crazy thing is froze in the slot hitch. So the first battle of the war was won. Now just cut the pin between the case and the hitch and the war should swing in my favor. There should be some kind of a medal for all of the guys and gals that have fought this war and won and survived. Drilling, air chiseling, sawing, etc. takes a toll on the ol arms. Not to mention the desire to just say _ _ _ _ it , and just walk away. But we all keep at it till the war is won. This particular one has been a tuffy so far and looks like it will fight to the bitter end.

5 pointsWife and I are praying for you and your family too. Sometimes we forget, but God NEVER puts more on us than we can bear.

5 pointsMay the good lord bless you for your wonderful supports, prayers sent for both of you

5 pointsThat's just too much. I'd like to thank the frozen hitch pin academy. If weren't for the lack of lube on this pin by the by prior owners way down the line, this award would not be possible. Thank you, thank you very much.

4 pointsTook advantage of the recent 70 degree plus weather here in Va to get annual maintenance along with a few upgrades/repairs done to my mowing machine, a 540 hour '96 520. Amazing how much debris collects around the hydro unit in a season... Ive come to the conclusion that its easier to remove the rear wheels than to fight the 60" deck out with them on. Converted the rear to lug studs and replaced the 9 pin connector. Adjusted valves and confirmed compression to be 115 across the board. Repainted the foot rests, engine tins, and exhaust. Gave everything else a nice polish. This stallion is ready for its 20th birthday and another 20 years of dependable service.

4 pointsMake the holes the right size (#3) and then you can tap them to 1/4" NF and screw in grease fittings afterwards. The C-160 that I bought then sold to my neighbor came with a grease fitting there and the pin just slid out. Cleat

4 pointsCas...prayers sent to you and your wife from Chris and me. Prayers are a powerful thing. I have seen them work wonders on this site and everywhere else. Hang in there my friend...we can talk if you want. May the Lord be with you both.

3 pointsWe have about 1/4" so far. It's supposed to turn to freezing rain later, so I took the time to try out my plow. The XI did well even without chains, though it is obvious I will need them before the snow gets really deep. It it is a lot faster than my walk behind snow blower, that's for sure. 10 minutes with the plow vs an hour with the blower.

3 pointsLord, please continue to be with all care givers and bring extended family members and community support groups to their aid. Please be with the people who's lives have been turned upside down by illness and help them to be grateful for what they have and bring them comfort. Many of us have been care givers and and know how frustrating it can be to do all that you can, knowing it will never be enough. I will continue to pray for you.

3 pointsI hope they work out for ya ....but if I was going to be working in the snow/mud and a garden like you say I would have went with something more aggressive. You may have to add front wheel weights to aid with traction/grip. I like these offered at only $21 each for a 16/6.5/8. https://www.stopandgotires.com/tire/lawn-garden/lawn-garden?sku=94012336&name=BKT%20LG306 Mike.........

3 pointsI'm sure reality will set in soon on my picks and I'll head for the basement. I'd have to question the sanity of someone who includes me in a comment about great minds.

3 pointsWhat then Steva ...no wine?!?! I just spent 12k on this new driveway so I wouldn't have to plow or blow gravel all over the lawns and rake in the spring....now no snow?? Well least all of the rain is keeping it clean! How bout I black top the lawns, paint them green and the driveway white????

2 pointsStarted out with a blown up 3500 watt Techy Generator. Pulled it a part and cut the crankshaft as close to the rod throw as I could get it. Had the shaft turned down to 1 inch for a pulley drive. had to make a bearing support for the front of the rotor and pulley drive shaft. I have cobbled together a frame to mount on the front quick tach. The weight of the regenerator will tension the belt. I have it together enough to do a trial run. Its going to work out great. All that's left is to weld of the frame and dress it up and it will be ready when I need a portable generator. I wanted to build this so I didn't have to worry about maintaining another motor and it will fit on any of my horses and small enough to store under the work bench

2 pointsI have been looking for a 417-A for over a year. Found one 5 miles from my place. 1986 with 1025 hrs in nice shape, came with ag tires and also got the turf tires on rims with it. Included snow plow and nice 42' rear discharge deck. Needs a little TLC. Biggest blemish is a nasty ding right in the front of the hood, that will be taken care of next spring. Finally have some time to post pics; First pic is the way I got it. The rest are after I cleaned it up.

2 pointsDuke...there are those that can follow directions...those that can't follow directions....and those that will not follow directions. We happen to have an assortment of all 3 kinds here. I would not have it any other way. Hope you and MJ are doing great and had a nice holiday.

2 pointsWell, I'm all paid up. My father in law will be picking the bucket up for me too. Excellent. I didn't even know it, but he is up at their cottage in Wisconsin Rapids right now. That's just a short hop down the freeway for him. I'll post up some photos when I get my hands on it.
-
2 pointsYah if he's gonna leave it out for after hrs thats being real cool. I am going up sometime Wens afternoon late and be back thru on Sunday, usually always have an empty truck or trailer. I may even try to get ther during hrs to see if he could machine some bushings in a suburban axle for me. Let me know Looks like we are finally gettin some snow.

2 pointsWHX6: Thanks for the offer! I will keep that in mind. I am all-in on the CTC bucket. It weighs 100lbs. Although, mine is about 15-20lbs overweight because the previous owner welded all sorts of extra 1/4" plate on the bottoms and the curve of the outside of the bucket for heavy lifting with welded on hook. If you take all that off the factory kwikway bucket should be about 95-98 lbs. Right now jI'm just waiting for Rod, the owner of the outfit, to call me back to take my Credit Card info and confirm a time and place for pickup. Rod said that if I prepay, he would have a bucket ready for me this week. He'd even leave it for me to pickup after hours if need be. Very cool. Better part is I'm off all week too. it shouldn't be too hard to fit this bucket to my frame. The mounting ears will just need to be matched up for the width of my boom and likely slid down a bit farther than how they build them for the CTC loaders.

2 pointsThanks for the tip on the guys in Wausaw ... right in my backyard and looks to be resonable priced. Bonus ...offers machining as well....
