7 pointsI didn't really need it but this one was just a few miles up the road from my house. Runs a little rough but it starts up instantly. HC rear end is noticeably faster than the H. Came with a 48" deck that operates smoothly but will need a cleanup to determine actual condition and a 2 stage snow blower in great shape. Cleat

7 pointsTold the guys at the coffee shop I had a rough job ahead of me today. I told them I had to put a rear-end into a recliner today!

6 pointsCraig, Whatever its listed for on Craigslist, check the classifieds here for a 40% mark up for his "friends" on Redsquare......

5 pointsBill won the front grease cap set, He's a snappy dresser too. Blue won the key chain and weaseled out of the pic. Scot made enough ornaments that everyone got one. I want to see those things when you paint them up guys. They were just like this one just unpainted - I also forgot this Karl and Janice shot - I think most of us spent most of the day eating and hiding from the camera.

4 pointsI picked this up thought this was pretty awsome. Has a k181 8 hp kohler with a. Fully rebuilt hydro rear. Has safetys and all. It has alot of time and thought put into it. hundreds of hours every pivot point has grease fittings etc. It is dump from the seat and has a full exhaust to the rear of the bed. Detailed pics to follow.

4 pointsFound this video from the fall while going through some pictures and thought I would share. My son and I: Before you start: Yes, I realize now this was slightly dangerous. I no longer ride him along while doing work; only casual rides for fun. He loves the tractor so much that he squeals for it every time we pass it and every time we are in the back yard he goes up to the shed and knocks on the door. He will sit on the seat (with no key in it) and play for an hour. If I take him for a ride he gets a huge smile and then about 10 minutes in starts to fall asleep on my arm! The Kohler thump relaxes him If he hears me start the tractor outside he RUNS to the window to watch. Its quite fun!

4 pointsIt's OK Bob...I put together 2 early transmissions while I read that. Looks like I need to get my catcher's mitt out...I'll be catching monkeys tomorrow. The whole college football world (outside of the Big Ten) is hoping Wisconsin wins. I need to get out my Shaman books and light some incense, open an old bottle of Rock & Rye and face all of my dinosaur collection towards Indiana. I should play my old "Monks Chant" CD and light a fire in the fire place. This is pulling out all the stops. OK, wear my Stanley Cup, Blackhawk's t-shirt and my Red Bandana. Here is the thing that will make the difference...tape the game and watch the golf channel while the game is on...chanting "What Squonk says make sents".

3 pointsThose who couldn't make it ... you were missed! We had a great time!! Only grabbed a few pictures ... much more comfy behind the camera and working the BBQ Pit (NOT a grill - yes there is a difference) than getting pics taken ... sorry!
-
3 pointsLook at Geno walking around with his lightsaber on his side. Taking care of any would be horse rustlers. Looks like a great time. Just a little too far for me to just get away. Have to plan to make one soon. Good job Geno.

3 pointsThanks to everyone who came, it was a great time. Did any of you guys take pics? Someone here was nice enough to send a box of stuff to decorate with and a few things to give away. Scot donated ornaments for everyone, Janice makes great deviled eggs, and Blue cooks up some of the best melt in your mouth BBQ I've had in my life. We all decided we all hate to have our pics taken too. Who is who, every pic will be left to right. Blue, Nappypappy (Karl), lovely wife Janice - Janice, Scot (plasma cutter guy), (KyBill) Bill - Scot's lovely wife Laura - Cassie (Todd's lovely wife) + Todd (Redbone) Janice + Todd - Karl + Janice - Me + Blue - Karl riding his dream mower - Karl, Bill, me - Todd + me -

3 pointsPicked the engine back up from the shop. It ended up needing the crank turned as well. Cost me a little more than I was hoping to spend on it, but it will be a really good motor now. Also, ended up finding another NOS carburetor for it. I also had a set of crank bearings I bought at PA I didn't plan on using on this engine, but after all that has been done to it I figured it deserved them. Everything is ready to go together now, hope I can put it together tomorrow if I have time. Got this head out a PA too, it is NOS Also about a week ago I recieved a package from a member here, I can't thank them enough!

3 pointsNo but if I hold mine up to the light I can see the light, lol. Think mine is too far gone.

3 pointsRob, I think we're in trouble. All the non-techies are down there meeting so everyone else will be left in the dark! Geno- If you can record videos and get them to your computer or phone, just upload them to youtube as an "unlisted" or "public" video. Paste the link here and it automagically gets embedded... Hope you guys have fun today! Ill be looking for a group picture with names!

3 pointsLane Ranger....Many, many thanks for the screen shots of the program. Like you, I had placed some before and after pictures of my 1961 Suburban on Flickr, and was intrigued by an email from "Alexandra" with the show "American Pickers". She emailed me a permission form, asked me to print it out, sign it, and send it back. I did. On Sunday, I received another email that said the program would broadcast on Wednesday night. I was puzzled by the fact that she wanted a copy of the "before" rather than the "after" version. Anyway, that is the one they ran on the program! I am attaching my original picture from Flickr. My 15 minutes of fame was more like 1.5 seconds of fame, but what the heck, I really enjoyed the limelight. 2 pointsPicked this up about 1 min up the road, it was on a troy bilt tiller with electric start and a complete charging system. It runs great! I didn't realize it was cast iron till I got it home and noticed rust by the exhaust, so I got a magnet and it stuck to the block. Ive heard they were out there but had never seen one I think this will be a nice repower for the work horse 700 or the 653, can't decide which yet though I like the idea of stock apearance with some extra weight and durability.
-
2 pointsHello to all! im south of Chicago and just picked up my first wheel horse tractor and attachments locally via craigslist. the 417 A came with a snowblower and I also grabbed the 36 tiller. I really don't know much about this stuff but my buddy in iowa said get it before its gone! the tractor has 277 hours on it and the snowblower looks like it has never had snow through it after being installed. the 36 roto tiller was new in the box with all mounting hardware/belts.my goal will be to get the tiller set up for spring since im big into gardening. happy holidays

2 pointsI have a set of the front weights like those. Had to bore out the back side of the center to get them to fit over the hubs on my 520. 2" deep, 2 5/8" bore if I remember right. The newer versions come with a center hole that fits the 520 hub.

2 pointsIf I were 40 years younger the progress would be much better (too many metal parts in my back)!! I hope to have it pretty well wrapped up in the next week or so and I will post pics. I just received the new decals from Terry but will wait a month or so for the paint to cure before putting them on. Glenn I love your nickname for it and it's a beast alright. It's been lots of fun trying to put it back into shape. One thing that won't be going back into service is the annunciator for the warning lights. The board is completely destroyed and since I grew up before Ralph Nader, I really don't see the need for a light to tell me to push the clutch..... :laughing-rofl: I grew up on a Farmall and they sure didn't have that feature!! :)

2 pointsGeno, You have a fantastic shop and your hospitality was the best. Blue did an excellent job with the smoker, and all of the sides were good as well. Too bad I couldn't stay longer... I enjoyed meeting everyone. Thank you for the invite.
-
2 pointsBoth tractors have Briggs 16's in them. The wheel weights are 75 lbs per tire. I just have to put the 2 link tire chains on each tractor.
-
2 pointsThe part that's "dangerous" is you're trying to knock that down with turf tires . Kids are nearly indestructible ( at least I know my dad thought I was ) . That little guy will remember that until he's a hundred !

2 pointsGreat video! You are doing the right thing getting him started this early. I rode many a mile sitting in my Grandpa's lap while on his Case tractor. Your son will always have the best of memories from riding with you.

2 pointsYou're making some good progress on this project. Thanks for the pics. Looking forward to some more.

2 pointsThe old horse got a little more attention over the last few days. The hood hinges and rod were completely shot as the following pics illustrate. Had to weld in a couple of 3/8 washers on each side to provide enough support along with a new pivot made from 3/8 rod with a couple of holes drilled for external cotter pins. Also painted the hood (all red at this point) satin black to follow. With any luck this old girl should be back into the working rotation soon. With 1810 hours on the clock, it's no wonder she needs some attention!!! :)

2 pointsI don't hunt or fish anymore, I could care less about sports, and I don't drink ~ so I need stuff like this to occupy my spare time.

2 pointsGo to wally world and get a $20 dollar camera/mic set up. plug it in and turn it on! If I can do it you smert people can! 18 pages about food and nobody thought about the pictoral and video evidence? As Craig says, No pics didn't happen!!

2 pointsOn my '66 Ariens walk-behind . The fogging oil is cheaper but drips a bit ( park it on a piece of rubber or cardboard) . The air filter oil clings like crazy but is pretty pricey . Klotz is some of the cheapest . I use it for my ATV so I always have some on hand .

2 pointsWill see what we can do, glad to see that you're a ford Fan ... we can gang up on bowtie boy Geno ...

2 pointsOk, so it's like this. If I keep puttin pics on here, when it's finally done, there will not be any WOW factor!!! So ... no more pics!!! I will give you some hints .... this was exhaust week, 100 feet of header wrap, black pipe fittings, adapters, flex pipe, fancy tips, clamps and custom brackets!! Making progress on the choke hookup, needed custom bracket, and still wrestlin' with the throttle linkage, but it's lookin good so far. Stay tuned!! These white pelicans summer in Canada, and come here for the winter. Sure doesn't look like Christmas!! LOL

2 pointsI know Mike...these are the pinions where the post is part of the pinion...not the ones the have a separate shaft. The single pinion and shaft (one piece) have been like that, from what I have seen. It was the only thing I saw in the pictures that showed any clue to what Sotty's got going on. The suspense is killing me. You know I just love to try to guess what is going on inside a trans from what a member says...keeps me young.

2 pointsMy C-85 was suffering from not getting traction in the back, so I made a rear weight box for it. As a result the front end of my tractor was getting light. My little engine (although very powerful) didn't counteract all the weight I had in the back very well, so I made a front weight carrier (bottom photo), put on front wheel weights (which were yellow, but I fixed that), and snow hog tires and it steers pretty good now and has great traction. If I had known about the wrapping the roller chain around the tires idea though, I think I would have gone with that option, instead of buying the snow tires. This what I've done to mine to make it work better, good luck with yours!

2 pointsWhen I picked up this Suburban it was REAL toasty. There was rust pits halfway thru the frame with a ton of other issues both cosmetically and mechanical. Other than the hood being some there and some what okay but with a million holes in it this Suburban would have hardly of made a good parts machine.. I decided this was the one I was going to have fun with so I welded up all of the holes in the frame and welded at least a dozen holes in the hood closed and it just got a little out of hand from there.. An almost NOS engine was installed and I rebuilt the rear diff. If someone thinks I ruined a good tractor then they have no idea.. At the end of the day I can still easily change it back to a stocker... Then there is my son's Suburban that I put an 8 hp Electric start Kohler on. No hackin of the hood was done and no hackin on the tractor.. This wasn't an all original paint tractor either, it can also be easily changed back to stock but truth be told neither one of these tractor's are going anywhere so goin back to stock probably ain't gonna happen.. I like to leave the nice RJ's and Suburbans and any other rare tractor original if they are fairly decent.. In this case I say have at it!
