7 pointsWell the tractor aint much to look at, I figured I'd run the engine mounted tank out of fuel before pulling it and getting the hood back over the new K181T. but we were running the disc this weekend and a camera was handy... memories I hope my girls don't soon forget

-
4 pointsMichael D Conley has given me so many photos that you guys will see so much eye candy that it is ridiculous. These are just a few of the many amazing shots taken! Hopefully I haven't doubled up on the photos.....hope you enjoy!

4 pointsWhat am I thinking? If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video of Scott's Horse Rescue must be worth a MIL- MIL FIVE!
-
4 pointsPictures, Pictures, Pictures, Everyone wants pictures! I think my camera is still frozen. Lets take a quick look to see if there were any ROCKWELL moments? Yes here is one I have found. This would be a special moment I caught Scott, with his daughter and a friend walking all the way back to the barn from the middle of the field after the drive pulley decided to exit his 1045! Sorry Scott, didn't think you would post this one.

2 pointsThe garden was pretty much done for the year, so with rain in the forecast I decided to till up the garden and prep it for winter. I have a real nice Troy-Built Tiller and I got one round on the outside of the garden and the belt went bad. So, my Dad brought over a heavy 1960's front-tine tiller. Wow, that beast made me really appreciate my Troy-Built. I ended up with two blisters cause is shook and bounced so much and it took about 4x longer that it normally does. Made two passes to get everything tilled under. Then applied a product called Micro-Essentials SZ (MESZ) by broadcast spreader and took one more pass on the tiller to get it under. I am going to pick up some cereal rye tomorrow to put down for a cover crop and to help increase organic matter when I till it back under in the spring. As you can see.....had to finish under the spot light Thad (Ohio)

2 pointsSome of you may have been following my latest 4x4, inspired by Bob Rock and a few others. It's taken a while, but today I finally fastened the tin work on and borrowed my sons C-121 hood - (sorry Ewan), its still also still 4x2 for the pics and video - I needed the tin work in place before I finished the idler and 4WD select/difflock. Seat is almost the right height, just the housing to tidy up and springs to add. and the obligatory video

2 pointsI've spent the last weeks of summer getting this little darling ready to go. I got it off a JD from a scrapyard in Minnesota for $350. 400 pounds of solid steel, tempered glass windows, WIper, defroster fan. Mice ate the wiring, so I had to rewire, and added front floodlights. The original cowling around the hood didn't fit due to the muffler. I made a new one out of Lexan, and am waiting on molding from McMaster-Carr rated to 450 degrees. I don't think the exhaust will melt that, but we will see. Mounting was a PIA, but I was able to modify the front mounts by reinforcing the footrests. Mounted to the frame, there was too much sway. Moving the mounts farther apart solved that problem. The rear sits on the seatpan for sway control, but most of the weight is in the rear hitch. I am doing the best I can sealing out the weather, and the vinyl matting over the footrests will solve most of the problems when fully installed.

2 pointsHi all I've mowed for years with a 414-8 and now have picked up a 653 down the road that I want to restore and make like new again, overall the shape is excellent and everything is there but the gascolater which is an easy replace. I'm working on a frame off with an 59 economy jim dandy so as soon as it's done this new Beauty will be next

2 pointsWow, wow, wow! What a great day we had yesterday!!! I will add more throughout the week as I am still trying to recover from all of the fun! I will say it again, you folks are nuts! So many die hards driving from all over the Midwest to spend the day with us in less than ideal conditions. You are all amazing and I greatly appreciate your friendships! We are proud to announce that as a group we raised $1233 for St. Baldrick's this year. That puts our total over 5 grand in the past 4 years! You are all to be commended for your support and dedication! The raffle prizes/donations were absolutely amazing. What a great lesson in teamwork, compassion, and love! A huge thank you to Michael Biser (racinfool40) and Shana for all of your help the day before. You guys rock! Here are a few photos from RedSquare member Michael D Conley. I will work on getting more up this week! He captured all of the fun and he is amazing at capturing the festivities. Thank you!

2 pointsWhen I was gardening up north I would plant buckwheat in any area where the crops were done. If there was still enough time before frost it would rapidly grow to about 2' high and was dense. It looked like it would be a tangled mess in the tiller tines but it wasn't. The stalks are very tender and till in great providing a lot of goodies to the soil. In the spring before I planted I would broadcast buckwheat over the entire plot. It usually wouldn't have time to reach maturity before I tilled it in to plant the crops.

2 pointsSeed the garden with cereal rye spread out a little straw....but I probably should have bought two bales as I just run out before finishing. Thad (Ohio)

1 pointThis 1975 Simplicity 7013H will be rejoining the stable. I saw it on Craigslist and HAD to have it back. The seller is also doing the hauling for $25 more than what I sold it to him for. You can't beat that! This time I've picked up a snow blade and snowblower.

1 pointIs that a shorty? You lucky dog. I'm thinkin I want to put together a short frame worker to take to work so I can be stylin and profilin when every one else has to shovel!
-
1 pointThe explanation is simple. The football gods have gotten into Duke's apple juice and toilet cakes! How else would you explain the Brownies coming from behind to win again and Romo not blowing a game late. Even the Bears couldn't beat ( as a drunk Dougie Buffone calls them) a "tomato can " team like Carolina! I'm going to sandblast my sun dial and polish my Ouija board before picking this week!

1 pointNice Horse and at an excellent price too! WHA (Wheel Horse Addiction) gets worse or better. Depends on how you feel 'bout it. Makes the forum members jump for joy, company!

1 pointI liked to think that the fiberglass hood may have come from the design department trying to come up with the next generation hood in a pre-production form, i.e. concept car. Drawing from my work experience in Engineering I bet the meeting went something like this Marketing: "Hey we want to put one of these newer design smaller twins in a C series tractor. to beat Cub to market" Engineer:"it won't fit under the hood, we need the new hood" Tooling department: "We don't have room in the schedule to make the dies for 18 months." Design Dept. lurking in the back corner: "hey we got a mold out back for the fiberglass prototype" Everyone: "Sweet lets run with it" Production Dept. "Hey wait a minute we haven't laid fiber glass since the Ride Away Senior 83's and Cecil did that. Put the labor hours for that hood at 40 hours a piece. Sales: "Dang why are these new twins so expensive?" Marketing: "Don't worry about, AMC doesn't care how much money we loose, sell them at a loss we just need them in the spring catalog" Accounting: "Dang it Cecil would have never allowed this" Marketing: Well the new boss in Detroit doesn't care and we really really want it. <holding breath and turning blue> 6 months later at the Dealer Meeting Dealers: "fiberglass what the heck is that, that's for corvette's not tractors, I ain't gonna order many because I will never sell them. My customers want steel and reliability not cheap plastic hoods."

1 pointBrought it home today. Gave it an initial pressure washing.....Gobbs of goop and crap every which place. Seems to be decent. Hydro fwd and rev worked pretty well as well as deck lift. Seat needs some love..... Some hacked up wiring and repairs. Needs new shoes, but has weights on the back side of rims. And 2 like new hi caps to gow with the Tarnished, rusted rears. Steering sloppy. And my first onan.....wow... That's sounds different than the kohler. Do you hear the hydro pump going when idiling?
-
1 pointI don't know about that Mr trouble maker... The C-161 ain't no joke, just about everything on it is new including a totally rebuilt engine..
