5 pointsJohn...I have given this a lot of thought. There are no doughnuts for second place, they are in the basement. Since I can't lose the IOWA game this week, I have had to look at other alternatives. Here is a picture of the guy that ended up in the basement last year (he knows who he is)...he looks happy and content.

4 pointsI have been a member for a few years and have enjoyed reading other posts and info. I had a GT-14 given to me last week which is my first Wheel Horse (a brand not common here in northern MN). The GT is a 1970 model 1-7451 serial # 630763 with a 48" deck and a 30" snowblower. Also, all the tires say Wheel Horse on them. The GT has been in the woods for 5-8 yrs. But after changing oil & putting in a battery, got spark and with a shot of ether it fired. Now I am cleaning carb. & gas tank. Pictures are on arrival at my shop. I think it will be a Winter project with many questions to follow.

3 pointsYes, thank you, just created an account for this WH site. Really great site from what i have been looking at and reading to answer some questions, My brother got the tractor in the late 80's Started to restore it, and never finished, so it has been sitting arounfd for a very long time until last year. This 400 was a year long build,. Sometimes progress was minor and even slow, to leaps forwards in progress. Parts list, 3-5 hp Industial series briggs engines( picked briggs, for fit, easy to get parts, and easily modifyable, these engines are drag raced, so i have the option to go very radical) Troy Built pony tiller electric start system, 3-plumbling chrome fittings for the exaust, 3 chrome air cleaners, 3 thecumseh H50 carbs, 1 fuel pump operated from the crankcase pressure, 1- triple snowmobile trottle sysem, 1 john deere belt gaurd/ elevator sheet metal, 8 pulleys, 3 idol pulleys, made the battary box and used a motorcyle battary for the small space i had left under the seat that was not taken up by the gas tank/ seat bracket, and belt gaurd , made and mounted the steering system on top the middle engines's L head offset the steering shaft. Deck lever(shortend to fit under air cleaner and remade bracket), reworked clutch/brake pedal, wider tires for the back, 5" ones for the front. and many more hours with metal brackets, intakes manifolds , air cleaner mounts. overall i just got it running and driving late spring of this year, I still have to finish it, just not now, maybe next year,, but painting, will not be an option, i kept it as gotten condition and i wanted a Ratrod themed tractor, lot of work just to get it to this point, a lot of EBAY parts since my brother lost a decent amount of the parts he took off

2 pointsA friend stopped by, found in a barn, new in a box a couple of items. He thought I might be interested, Wow! Of course I love gifts! A deck discharge chute, doesn't fit my 48" SD's but, I'll put it away for someone. Have a mule drive for the newly picked up Work Horse but, the newer drive looks good. I needed it too, of course I love gifts.

2 pointsPicked this one up a couple weeks ago at mentone from Brrly. Finally got it complete and running today. First tore it apart and power washed everything. Went through the drive system, and had to change some gaskets on the engine, and rebuild the carb. Runs pretty good now. In pretty decent original shape. Plan to leave this one as is, just straighten out the hood a little more and possibly some new decals.Still needs a few little things here and there, but is ready to take to Scotts Meet and greet this weekend.

2 pointsSo, here we are, on the floor at last. Tomorrow I will start finishing the engine. I need too paint the muffler and put the tins on. I also must try to paint the hood grill black if the weather holds. I really want to get that done so I can let it harden before I put it on the tractor. I was tempted to put the seat pan on to see what it looked like but I decided to wait for the grill and the rest of the dash panels and put the decals on everything at one time. Yesterday I bought two more sets of decals from Terry. He really does a great job on them. I really have to get some tires for this thing. These are the ones that came with it and they go flat almost as soon as I fill them

2 pointsI found them at Allied Electronics. Looks like an exact replacement. Order a couple of extras and five switch caps. The caps seem to fall of as I have two without them. I checked the Dell City catalog but could not find any in there. These are Eaton switches same as the one that was on the tractor. I also ordered a supply of molex pins today on EBay. Have some connectors I want to refresh with new pins before I button up this project.

2 pointsHad our last pull for the year. Started at 11am Sat and last hook down the track at 7:40pm Sunday started at 10am with last hook at 6:10 pm. 152 hooks on Sat and 162 on Sunday, Had to strap flash lights on hoods Sat night or else you couldn't see where you were going, Tiring weekend but a load of fun we had pullers from 4 states for this one. Longest run 368ft @ 26mph for a 4cyl modified. Some of the pullers didn't get most of them battery went dead in the camera

2 pointsWell, 1 step closer, to being ready...... Took the deck off and put the snow blower on... Took it over to my neighbor’s house so we could prep it before real cold weather hits. Set the height on the skids, readjusted the chain. Lubed chain. If anyone remembers my dilemma from last year with the belt being torn up. A little earlier in the year I was able to find a broken weld on the inside bearing housing. It is welded, but still seems to want to wobble a bit. Not much, but just enough that it has me wondering...... Anyway, also trued the main pulley 1 more time, to make sure the "on and off" angle of the belt was evenly split. Once all that was done, I dropped the blower again, pressure washed the deck before I put it back on. Hit all the zerts on the tractor and mower and re-attached the deck....BTW, maybe just me, but after 2 years I have finally found a simple way to re-attach the deck..... Call me just a little slow...... My issue had always been the front attachment bar. I would try and get that attached first.... I would always have issues getting it just right and then tripping the lever to release the clamps to hold it in place.... Then I would attach the lift arms.... Well, dummy me, got the idea to attach the lift arms first, then raise the lift arms, and what do you think happens when you raise the lift arms? It also raises the front bar that fits nice and neat, right into the front attachment.... Genius idea ROB! Takes all of 30 seconds to complete these steps now where it use to take me anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes……

2 pointsIf you are getting no flow of gas from the glass bowl when you disconnect the inlet tube from the pump, another pump probably isn't going to help. You need to find out why the gas is not flowing out of the tank by gravity

2 pointsThat tractor has been around for a while. Very cool indeed. I always thought it would have a bit more appeal though with era correct motors - Kohlers or Clintons.
-
2 pointsAs usual, I will be putting a B-100 with a 48" blade into service this winter.

1 pointHi Dave, Yes, the OTC cab is going on the 523Dxi. It has the factory clevis hitch installed but you can only use one attachment at a time due to the hydraulics. So that is coming off to be replaced by the JB sleeve hitch. I was originally going to put the JB on the 520xi which is getting the plow this year to drag snow away but then realized that I can just back-drag with the front plow. I will be limited with the snowthrower so that's why the re-think. I don't need it for mine but for my neighbors I do. I hemmed and hawed over it. I thought of just getting the Uni-Bucket and use a motor from my JB bucket. John at JB is pretty firm in his thinking and marketing. Not difficult but not consumer oriented either. Must have a strong business, especially with a backlog! I'll let you know. John

1 pointDid you pressurize the tank to make sure no air is in the line between tank and fuel pump. If you have any air in there it will make it hard for the pump to be able to move gas in the line when cranking. Being a 1054 I would use a clean toilet plunger or similar and make sure you get the line full of gas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointI think as long as you show her evidence/proof of how much the wheel horse maintenence items cost (pulleys, belts, TIME to replace, etc), she will be with you on spending the fraction of the cost on the old mower vs the new mower. She probably doesn't care what you cut the yard with. She just doesn't want to have unexpected expenses associated with an old machine. Again, showing her that the expected "unexpected" expenses are less than the big box store tractor's initial cost is important.

1 pointJujst when I was winding down for the night, I see this!!! Now all I can think about is "3" K-341's or M16's fitted to my C-165. Good post Craig! Thank you for something so cool and different!

1 pointI'll be using the electro 12. Never plowed with her before cuz she's new, but I just swapped the 42 side discharge for the 42 snow blade! Flipped the plowing edge and she was ready to go. We'll see how she does when the white stuff starts fallin. Also a pic of my Manuel PTO "adaption". I didn't mess up any of the tractors originality, it just bolts right on, 2 bolts. Gets the 42 SD spinning really we'll haha.

1 pointSomething here should work. Can't wait to see what that little Sears iron 2 wheeler will do. The new 520 w/ heated cab will be my go to machine on cold days. The Yammy 4wheeler is for clean up on warm days. The C-125 is the back up blower. Of course the two long handles always work.

1 pointI did repairs on Lionel trains in the late 80s and early 90s before the electronics took over and made train repair impossible,"taycotrains" was the name of my side business. TAYlor COmpany TRAINS .....The name just stuck.
