I put this hitch together to make use of the rear lift installed on this tractor for the rototiller. Since the tiller is only on for a short period of time I figured I might as well make use of it to move my utility trailer around the yard and be able to hook up by just backing under it and lifting until the ball engages. The grass has slowed down here so I decided to tear another one down. This is not going to be a restore but just a cleanup and new paint on the sheet metal and a 14 horse Kohler. I always wanted a gray one and found this one this spring. It was filthy and very greasy. A little degreaser and a Power Wash and it cleaned up fine. And some new shoes for the back, Going on 520 wheels. Got to get to the blaster tomorrow and do the wheels and get some paint on. I hope to get some painting done before old man winter comes. Just have to hope time permits, Oh and I ordered the decals from Terry at the show and they arrived shortly after. Top quality as usual.

I just noticed in one of the posts on here that Craig Allen ( AMC Rules ) has over 10,000 posts. Congrats Craig, I know that many of those posts were answering questions for me. Thanks for all your help.

Got a chance to tag along with Jeanine on one of her weekly trips out west. She is gone through the week, twice a month or more at 3 branches in the NV/AZ area managing them and i needed to burn some vacation from last year so i decided to go out there with her. Right from the time i got out there it reminded me of back in Adelaide, nice and hot, but none of that crazy humidity. didn't rain once, although our trip out there was delayed in the Quad Cities by storms and earlier storms in the Las Vegas area. there was plenty of evidence of flooding by all the mud all over the roads while traveling in the area. because of the heat, the excess water doesn't stay around long at all. temps ranged in the low 100's all week. i enjoyed every minute of it, sure it was hot and it felt like you were in an oven getting blasted by hot air, but i didn't break out in a sweat at all. as soon as we got back home to the Quad Cities last night, i could feel that humid air once again, the fun was all over...... heres some pics from the week. visited the Hoover and Parker Dams, but spent most of my time in the Lake Havasu City area, thats where Jeanine was working this week and i was on lunch delivery....... i was planning on heading out east to see the Grand Canyon, about a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive one way, but i figured rather than try to cram that into one day, i would save it for another visit out there. there was more than enough to see in the Lake Havasu area..... traveling from Las Vegas to Lake Havasu through the Mohave Desert...... looks like water out there, no it isn't, and it aint a mirage either, its a solar power plant. moire pics to follow. i googled it and heres more info if interested...... http://blogs.kqed.org/science/2014/02/13/worlds-largest-solar-plant-opens/ coming into Lake Havasu City.... Somehow someone broke this years ago and "fixed" it. I finally got tired of the funky angle and decided to unfix it, then fix it right, or at least a little more right. Quick project before dinner, didn't even have to put shoes on.

Model # 73502 is a 1996 520H. I have a 1988 520H that I am reconditioning for snow blowing. One of the major problems with the Onan is keeping enough cooling air flowing across the back cylinder . Overheating is what causes the valve seats to loosen. You must keep the cooling fins clean of grass and oil. After removing all the tin and cleaning the fins, I have added a seal around the oil filter to stop the air leak and force more air across the rear cylinder. I have also vented the belt guard to increase the flow. The carb is very sensitive to dirt causing the engine to surge if it is not clean. The electrical system is also a source of problems. These are all problems that can be resolved. There are many threads on here detailing the process of correcting these problems. Right now, my 520 is the strongest horse in my herd and I can't wait to try it in the snow.

Here is some more pics of my custom Army Wheel Horse tractor, Model # 762. Formerly the very first 702 ever made, I added a 6 Speed High/Low tranny, hence the 762. It has alot of custom made parts on it and rare WH parts as well. Some of the features are custom front bumper with attachamatic brackets, 100 year old barn wood push pads, HL5 head lights, dual 953 tail lights, dual rear hitches, 1045 front tires and monster rear tires, NOS 701 dual belt set up and NOS 701 belt guard, Army oil can with leather strap and custom battery hold down bracket that holds the oil can, 2 grenades just in case, widened drive belt guard, new style brake band and pulley set up, step down foot rests and the Army paint and decals. I used a copper fuel line and a few brass nuts and bolts. Custom Fuse Ignitor (NOS WH Cigar Lighter) and head light switch box. A ton of work went into this tractor to make it look original. I forgot how hard it is to restore a garden tractor, especially when we started to assemble all of the parts on the tractor! It is a matter of trial and error for sure. Put a part on and take it back off. If you get parts installed in the wrong order of assembly, you have to take them back off to install some other part! It all came together late in the evening one day before the Sugar Creek Tractor Show. It was received very well at the show and made quite an impression on those who saw it. A very special thanks to my buddy Larry Packrat Eads for all of his help with fabrication and assembly! He knows his stuff for sure! I still have some paint touch up to do on it and some US Army Numbers to put on the sides of the hood. But for the most part it is finally DONE! It took more than 5 years to finish this top secret machine and now the cat, or Horse is out of the bag!

Well, I guess regardless of which company actually owned the brand at the time I purchased it, the important thing is MADE IN USA!!! For the record, I also have an '81 HD XLH. That scooter was made at a time when AMF owned Harley, and build quality went waaaaaaaay south. But AMF kept Harley afloat when the company might've gone out of biz. Wish I could say all's well that ends well, but in WH's case, maybe not.

You did not include the model number. They started using a damper on the clutch linkage that can hang up causing the drive belt to slip. There are about 3 different versions of it. Slip your toe under the clutch pedal and pull it back to see if it makes a difference. Garry

FOR ALL OF THE MEMBERS ON RED SQUARE...kudzu3 failed to take pictures of his horse when he took it apart...this goes against the Holy Grail of what the Planets align for and actually can warp the space/time fabric causing ruptures where other universes can enter and reek havoc!!! We need to band together and right this now!! You can buy a Multi-meter for around $16...I think. Radio Shack has some choices. You do not have to get a good one...if you take pictures. I hope you know that I am just giving you a ruff time. Seriously, the meter will walk you through the trouble shooting. I would say this at this point...Do not change anything until you put a meter to work. I say this because...you said it ran great when you tore it apart, but you did not put it back together the same way (by passed switches). You want to check things out now first...before you change things...shorting out points, a condenser, maybe a coil makes more then one thing wrong.

AMC, I by passed all the safety switches (2) and went straight to the solenoid from the S terminal on the switch. They were not connected when I got it and it ran well, so I didn't re-connect them. This may have been a mistake. Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.

Believe it or not, the lift arms on the early C's were angled. Fantastic work though!

Glenn - nice find! You just need a winter cab now and you will be all set. Just for the record. If you are able to keep that auger 3/4 full, that snow will easily surpass 30' in distance. I think you saw my video from last year. When I got to the side walk, it was clearing the road, and hitting the other evesment on the other side of the road..... I would say that is a solid 40' plus. Just remember to keep it coated with Snow Jet. Rob

Last day for me at the Pageant. I will be attending the Pro Tractor Pull Sat night maybe some more pics! I had the Generac Jenny on Ezra today and got lots of compliments and looks .Buckrancher and Jo stopped by. I talked to a guy I met last year about setting up a dedicated spot next year. We hope to get as many Horses as we can to join us. You western NY guys better come!

Looking good. I would try adjusting your jets first. But actually it sounds pretty good from here. They will breathe a little fire at night and that is totally normal especially with an open pipe. Just the nature of the engines being no where as efficient as their modern counterparts.

I would suggest studying up on your french. You will use lots of it during the job when you realize that you missed one little part after the 4th time putting it together. Wheel horse designed a lot of wonderful things, those decks were not one of them.

When I got to the fellas home he had 4 xi tractors. If this snowblower was ever used I can't see it. Chute. Auger. Skid shoes. Etc. No paint missing. Funny how the mrs. And kids went to Canada and I found this. Lol He had a snow blade to. Left that there. Just wanted to share it with you guys. When I find a snow cab I will be complete.

This is supposed to be the '83 / '84 non-metallic pewter. Someday I'll find that out for sure.
