4 pointsAlso a lot would depend on the year of the 314. My 94 has the bigger rear axels, bigger front wheels, high back seat, hour meter plus amp gauge. The rear tires are 9.50's VS the 8.50's. It came from the factory this way. I know this because I was the one to open the Crete/Box and set it up.

3 pointsHaven't found any topics on these planters on this site. Wanted to share mine. Looked for years and when they would come up for sale they were to far away, I was out of money or I just plain couldn't find one. I Was at the Portland tri state swap meet last week and there was one there for sale. Took me three days to work a deal with the owner but finally got one! I know I over paid but Can't win every deal every time. This one is basically mint condition with non rusted out cans and it even has a row marker. Think I'll make my 753 my new planter tractor. Sweet corn here I come !

3 pointsWe went to the Little Guys Show up in PA and did a bit of pullin' with my 1963 model 753 ...... AND the 702 tow truck tractor ! Now those who know me understand that I believe any thing can be done with a Wheel Horse tractor ! At the show I used my 702 tow truck tractor to tote the 753 around the grounds, through the parade and down the pullin' track towing the 753. Now most pullin' sled operators will not even think of letting some one .... especially me pull a stunt like this but I have known Bob at Rude Dog Pullin' Sled Rental for quite a few years and said ok but he did want me to wear a helmet . (a good rule for any puller) The folks in the crowd really didn't know what to think as the 702 tow truck tractor backed the 753 up to the sled and the hook was put on the hitch of the 753. With helmet on and given the GO signal we were of and pullin'. Now if'ns ya' will note that the front wheels are off the ground on both Wheel Horses, this due to the added weight of the 753 being on the under lift and the incredible pullin' of the smoky 7hp Kohler on the 702 tow truck tractor ! Great traction was had even with the multi purpose tires. HA HA this really got the Cub Cadet and John Deere pullers scratching their head . Two Wheel Horses pullin' two wheelies with only one driver . Wild Bill

2 pointsWell I thought that now, if I run out of gas , I can't run to stable for more. So I stole the idea from SOI to use a float sensor in the tank & a idiot light to let me know its time to head back to the barn

2 pointsThanks to all of you for your good counsel and good advice. I deeply appreciate it. The 520 bucket loader has gone to a good home where will be more appreciated, and the buyer was kind enough to help me make sure that the 264 was in good running order... Couldn't ask for more from people I've never met.

2 pointsIn keeping with the release of Godzilla, I thought I would produce my own documentary of the worlds 2nd most favorite Dino As a youth our Dino became fascinated by little red tractors. Working his family's garden brought him joy. He said to himself, "Someday I'll own a fleet of red tractors! Heck I may even win one in a raffle! After leaving school, our Dino took a job at a local quarry working for Mr. Slate. But the idea of a fat guy sitting on his back while the dino lifted boulders with his head didn't appeal to him.so he joined the Navy. When he joined the Navy,he wanted a spot on a submarine. But the Navy wouldn't let him sleep on a sub with the window open, so they assigned him to the engine room of the destroyer U.S.S. Tecky. After being discharged from the Navy, our Dino wandered the forests of the mid-west looking for a place to settle down. He found the perfect spot and phoned President Grover Cleveland." I found a perfect spot!" he said. 'We can industrialize it and have a great football team!" " We should call it Illinois! " Which is Watchahoocie Indian for "Gateway to Iowa"! They did industrialize it but the football team, well let's just say the "Sconnies up north got that covered! Our Dino took a job with the telephone co.where his job was pulling nails and staples out of poles left behind by yard sale enthusiasts. He worked there many years and was very happy. After retirement he was the happy overzealous homeowner. Trying to improve his landscape, he was trimming a tree and disaster struck! The ladder came loose and down he went! Our Dino spent many days in a hospital and in rehab recovering. Cards and well wishes poured in from all over the world via mail and the interwebs as our Dino is much loved! Heck even some whacko from N.Y. who didn't even know him sent him a tractor calendar! After recovering, he became a Do-it- Yourself film star. His " Watching Paint Dry" was an instant classic on A & E. His other classic, "Around the Block' was also a big hit at the Cannes film Festival! The winter was rough on our Dino. He overdid a snow dance and was buried under much snow. Then those pesky "Sconnies' knocked his beloved Bears out of the playoffs. This spring, he decided he needed cheering up after that "Dagger" was thrown by that Sconnie. So he treated himself to a brand new Silver-A-Doo! you will find him travelling across the countryto a tractor show near you. Be sure to stop by and say Hello! THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTE: no stevasaurus action figures were harmed in making of this documentary

1 pointhi men, if you follow this forum you may recall one of the differential bolts backed out of my 416-8 tranny last winter. extensive damage resulted. i recently crated that tranny and a spare and shipped them to racinfool40/mike. i used fastenal for shipping. round trip shipping from mass. to ohio and back was $125. mike just called me and said both are totally rebuilt. i really appreciate mike doing this! his prices were reasonable. he really knows his unidrives! i would encourage anyone who needs unidrive rebuilding to contact mike. best regards mike in mass.

1 pointHello All--I went out and unloaded the 1054 and tucked it in a corner with a tarp until I can come up with a battle plan and a nice cozy place to tuck it to work on it. Here are the pics everyone has asked for.... She is beautiful and I can't wait to get her back in the fight!!! Tony

1 pointOne more mod to give a few picts of. Lots of people complain about the poor headlights in the c-series. A 1156 bulb just isn't very bright and the reflector assembly isn't that great either. Replacement bulbs that give more light also often give more heat and melt the plastic lens. My brother kept giving me grief about my lights compared to his old Sears tractor that has honest sealed beam lights. He pointed out some small rectangular halogen driving lights and told me I needed them in my horse. I took a piece of aluminum plate and shaped it to match the original headlight lens, then cut out holes to place the lights approximately where the original lights would be. I had to make a few clamps to hold the lights into the back of the plate, and used the mounting screws to hold it all together. I asked Terry to come up with a decal for the front plate and he sent me a black and chrome decal that is just perfect. Here's some picts. What do y'all think?

1 pointNope, I didn't get anything. Due to my career, I pay particular attention to technical issues and saw this today. As a note, you should change your passwords every 90 days or so in the event your information was exposed and NEVER EVER make your banking password the same as less secure sites (like this one). In fact, make your banking password something different than anything else and not related to you.

1 pointWe were back at it tonight. Hard to believe it was soooo cold not long ago and now we need a fan in the barn. 84 degree temps with some humidity made things a little sweaty tonight. We were missing a couple of members tonight, my daughter being one of them. Went with her today on her field trip and had to leave early due to her vomiting. Thankfully she is feeling much better tonight but this dad is praying that he doesn't get it!!!!! We had a lot of different projects going on tonight. We were missing a few things from the Ohio tractor so we grabbed a few parts off of our shelves. Of course they weren't NOS so a sanding we will go, and a sanding we went. Some parts from the Ohio tractor had been cleaned but not painted. The kids had a ball having a chance to lay down some primer and then red paint. I think out of the 10 or so parts we painted tonight, only one part had a small run. I was quite impressed and they listened very well. Of course my clothes were a shade of red by the time we were done! . They are naturals! While a few were sanding, some others were painting, the rest were in the barn wrenching away. I am feeling the squeeze and trying to figure out how to get more hours in my day. Dad kept the wrenches turning in the barn. Boy was it hot and stuffy in there! Just before most of them left for the night I surprised them with their very own copy of LAGT magazine. Thank you to Kate and Brandon for hooking these kids up. They were blown away by the fact that they were featured in a magazine! Here they are showing off their copy and LAGT sticker! Of course they were bummed that they had to take a nice picture for me. So what would a photo op be with these guys without a goofy photo? They are great kids and some real comedians. Thanks for following along again. Hope you are enjoying our journey. Say some prayers for us....we need this thing done!

1 pointI'm confused -- are we still talking about filters here? Personally, Mike, I would leave the hood off, at least for a while, I kind of like the hooligan look.

1 pointHey all, so, I figured I'd do something interesting for my 100th post. I figured I'd show you guys a few pics of the factory loader on my D-250, and the new three point sleeve hitch adapter I got. Not really sure if I'll ever do much ground work with her, but it will be nice to know that I could pull my plow, disc, or trailer around if I need to. If you click on the pics, they get much larger, enjoy the detail Here is just a pic of me fooling with it in the dirt. Here is a pic of the loader bucket front on. I really should clean and paint it. Here are two pictures of the size of the tractor compared to a Jeep Cherokee Here is a pic of the loader at full height with my dad. hahaha Here is a pic of the category 0 three point sleeve hitch adapter I just got from Ballard Fabrication. Search for their site, they make a lot of three point accessories. Aaaand, Here is a video of it! I need either a longer top link, or to lower the arms, because the disc barely reaches the ground Hope you all enjoy!

1 pointI am listening to a wide variety of music and programs, mostly from iTunes or CD's that I downloaded. I have over 2,000 songs on my player, everything from classic rock, pop, alternative, country, and even some big bands songs. I have also loaded on some famous speeches and some comedy stuff (mainly Dickie Goodman from the 70's and 80's), several theme songs, and some very memorable commercials. On a separate file I have about 150 Christmas or holiday songs that I listen to during the holiday season. About the only radio I listen to now days is on Saturday mornings, our local oldies station is playing some re-runs of Casey Kasem's American Top 40, from the 70's and 80's, and I really enjoy that and really like Casey and all his feature dedications. This always brings back a lot of good memories! Lastly, I've also been listening to something else that I used to listen to when I was a kid, and that's the CBS Radio Mystery Theater with E. G Marshall. I found several shows of this on Youtube and really like that as well. Most of these shows have the original commercials in them, so that's also cool. I just put my player on to "shuffle all" and let it play and I NEVER hear anything that I don't like, no commercials (that I didn't load), no gab or talk, no political ads, just stuff I like, it's better than any radio station! I should also clarify that I am a casualty :ranting:of records, 8 track tapes, cassettes, CD's, and now I'm on my 4th digital player, so I feel that I've done my part to support the music business and electronic equipment trade C-85

1 pointThanks and me too!! that is a very cool idea but yes I think its to late as I did order them. I am not going with the exact match of what it came with though so I do think it will be somewhat unique and look cool. Here is exactly what I am getting but for a 312-H along with a kit for my rear discharge deck and a couple larger wheel horse decals for my sweeper(even though not a horse ) and my snowblower attachment.
-
1 pointLooking forward to the finished product! If Terry hasnt made your decals yet, have you considered doing black/chrome instead of the maroon? I think this is something he could do and would really make your tractor unique. Keeping with the style That would look SWEET.
-
1 pointthanks once again for the all the support, I am so pleased with the outcome. I guess the front is getting painted black as not one vote is for keeping it red. Once I receive my decals and get it cleaned back up and paint the front black I will post some final pictures.

1 pointI had tires filled with used anti freeze that the local garage gave me for years. It worked great.

1 pointI have two announcements to make regarding moderators. First, one of our original Moderators, Stephen (Rollerman), is taking some time back in the collector ranks of the forum. Stephen has been a valuable moderator who was always professional and ethical in everything he touched. His guidance through out the years has been an inspiration to me, and his suggestions helped build the forum as it is today. I value his opinion highly and will miss the daily interaction. The door is ALWAYS open for him to return as a moderator here. Stephen, thank you for everything, from the forum to personal I truly value our friendship and all you've done. Onto the second part of the announcement. I am very pleased to announce that Scott (whfan74) will be helping keep the peace. Most, if not all of you know Scott and the amazing things he's done in everything he does. He's often featured in Lawn & Garden Tractor Magazine, is the owner of Wheel Horse Junkies on Facebook, founded a tractor program in the school where he teaches and least us forget hosts an annual event which rivals the best put together shows in the world. I have always appreciated Scott's calm approach to issues and I had the pleasure to meet him at the WHCC show in 2013. When he said "Yes" I was elated. So, Stephen, thank you so much for everything, and Scott, welcome to the Moderator team!

1 pointThe Tecumseh powered tractors in the 60's had the skinny from tires 4x8, and narrow rears 6x12, the Kohler powered tractors got the bigger 5.6x8 fronts and the 8.5x12 rears, yours may have been swapped or ordered that way.

1 pointI've been using the Prime Line parts from my local auto parts house and have had good luck with them. If he doesn't have them on the shelf he gets them overnight. With several horses I keep an extra tune up on the shelf-plug, points, condenser, carb kit, float and air filter along with the required carb and brake cleaners and at least a half a case of oil.
-
1 pointHowever the briggs typically do not have rod / crank issues and a new piston, rings, wristpin, and a valve job might be a cheap way to bring life back. Unless it has an aluminum cylinder, or has a lot of wear. The 11HP verticals I have done, have all benefited from this and I have not had to get them machined.

1 pointI just sold my traditional 2 wheeler for this....2008 Suzuki Burgman scooter with a 650cc fuel injected twin. Only put a couple hundred miles on it so far this spring. Mike............

1 pointYou know, there something about the sound of a Kohler cast iron engine that will just disappear if you do all those mods. I don't know if I'd like that. The K241 engine on my first B-100 has never had anything done to it other than oil changes. The guides may be a little worn, and the cylinder may be a little out of round, and it just might have a bit of wear on the crank pin. But when I turn the ignition at -10 degrees with a foot of snow around me, and she fires right up and plows my driveway, I listen to the sounds of that cast iron Kohler and am thankful for the most dependable, noisy engine ever built.

1 pointHey Bob, I live in Southwest VA. The tractor is in western NC. I think I'll wait and look for one with a kohler. I like the looks of the late 60's and early 70's tractors as my grandad and I used to ride his hydro to the local country store when I was a kid. I was about 4 driving the tractor and he rode in a WH dump cart (my parents still have it in pretty good shape - just needs a paint job!). Looking back, he was awfully brave! I've got my little one two suburbans (one in another thread here) like the one my grandad mowed with. He never liked the way the later tractor mowed. We just used it to ride to the garden and around to the store and he kept his rj to mow with. He sold them about a year or two before he died. I wish he would have given me a chance on them, but they were gone before I knew what was going on!

1 pointDuke; you might find it easier to leave the brake drum on the axle when you jig up the wheels and spokes so that you can spin the entire assembly to check/set runout both side to side and radial. or maybe better yet 1 drum on the bench for static setup, and the other one on the axle to check runout
