10 pointsI know not a wheelhorse, but he thinks it is and he is in heaven.

4 pointsThanks to fellow member Shawn, aka Cutlas3391, I finally got my elusive black hood. I traded my GT-14 for a 1984 C-165. I think that she looks awesome. She is in pretty good shape and just needs a good cleaning, fresh gas and tune up. Shawn is a helluva guy and I just want to thank him again! Thanks bro! My plans are to give her a 10 foot resto; looks fine from 10 feet but not perfect up close. We are talking rattle cans and elbow grease! She will definitely be a worker.

3 pointsThanks guys, the Birthday wishes are much appreciated. I didn't do the egg hunt but the Grand daughter kicked some Easter bunny tail. This Birthday is kinda of unique as it also comes with the Easter Holiday as this has only happened once before in 2003 other than that the previous to that would have been 1930. The next time it happens will be 11 years in 2025. After that it will be something like 2087 I doubt if I make that one. Talked with my Mom today and she told me I was born the day before Easter in 1957. 4/20 is a Special day!!!

3 pointsPlease do not take this the wrong way...I have been following some of your threads...I have to say...you have picked the right avatar. Obviously, the right thing to do (so you might make it to 30 years old) is to shut it down before you dismount that horse. That is the right thing to do.

2 pointsI thought I logged into the "My Little Pony" website this morning! Had to go back to my Bunn unit and threw another scoop into the filter and start over!
-
2 pointsAlright guys to conclude this discussion- I adjusted the chain to a higher notch on the lifting arm so that when raised the deck will be up tight against the stops (so it rides correctly in the up position now). When lowered it can still drop all the way to the ground to ride on the deck wheels. Something is definitely off but it should work just fine. Belts should arrive on Monday so I will install and give it a whirl.

2 pointsGot to spend a little time on the ranger today....finally got it on all 4's again. Most of my time was in fixing previous mistakes of assembly...had to take the motor off again because I ran the oil drain on the wrong side, and also realized I put the dash on wrong again and its sitting a little sideways, but I think it will be ok..as there is a little play in the hood. Otherwise I basically have to take the whole tractor back apart which I really don't want to do even though I should. Found out my throttle cables don't match which was dissapointing when they came together as a set, so I will order one that will match the choke cable at a different date....anyways as far as good things I did get the belt guard, back wheels, fenders and started running the throttle cables. Here's a updated picture.

1 pointThe 518-H models for the North American market used the Eaton 700 with manual lift. The export models with E1 and R1 in the model number used the Eaton 1100 with hydraulic lift. Garry

1 pointMY GT-14 RAN OVER ME WHEN I HIT THE GEAR KNOB WHEN GETTING OFF THIS WINTER. IT TOOK TWO TO GET ME OUT FROM UNDER THE TRACTOR. NOW I SHUT IT OFF BEFORE GETTING OFF. I AM TOO OLD TO DO IT AGAIN. RUSS

1 pointThey look pretty easy to make, Craig. If you want measurements or better pics let me know.

1 pointI' m with Dino on this one ... I always shut my horse down when I dismount, just to avoid the chain marks you stated...
-
1 pointOk, I'll bite, know I'm still new, what are they? Not makin' fun of your find, just don't recognize, as in guessin' even eludes me! I know I'll admit "oh shaw" when you say for what/why intended or fabed.
-
1 pointOption 4,5, or 6. Fab a hinge type flap with a lock in place notch, which when placed in mid position, neutral, and flap folded downward, sideways movement is prevented. The older standard shift fire trucks have a lock in instead of lock out to insure when in pump mode, shifter stays in place (Fireman proof). They actually have all diff arrangements (old pumpers) as simple as a ring or eye on shifter and a hook that disallows movement. I think all of us have dismounted WH when running, I've even hand clutched and walked beside as moving but only in Low 1 at idle. Yours would run equivalent of high 1, but only mentioning as we all sometimes make mistakes. Also do like idea of running board, keeps your Wranglers from pinching home and ripping the crouch seam!

1 pointWasn't there a time when Wheel Horse was having problems sourcing Kohler engines due to a strike or something like that so they temporarily switched to the Tecumseh engines?

1 pointDidn't spend a whole lot of time on the ranger today, but got the wiring done, and hooked the motor up and put the dash decal on. Also found a bronze bushing in my NOS parts that worked perfect so I spend most my time tearing it back apart to get the dash back off. lol. Not a whole lot left to do on it, will probably have to work at the farm tomorrow, but I think I can for sure have it going on sunday. Here's a couple more pictures.

1 pointNice B100! I am new to collecting Wheel Horse. I bought a 76 B80 for $350 and added some Ag tires and some hubcaps and repainted the rims. The only problem I have is it the battery is not charging. any help on what I can do?
-
1 pointNeil, myself did nothing but supply the pieces. Bob is truly a master at buildng these. This tractor conversation started a few years back at one of the shows were we hang out for a few days. He told me buy some tires we'll build one. He's well, what is he? Artist? Creative? Imaginative? Skilled? Talent? He's every bit of that and a whole lot more words could be used to describe him. Where do you start? I'm the lucky one here. The tractors Bob builds are How do you decribe? I know how I feel about this question but I am going to leave this question open to see what kind of responses I get. I say "Totally Awesome"

1 pointGot the ranger motor back together today, looks good, we'll find out how it runs tomorrow. lol. Should be a good motor, has all new gaskets/ seals, new carb, piston, rod, rings, and ignition stuff.

1 pointHi everyone! Mi name is Fito from Valencia, Spain. Last week I found this old wheel horse 702 in a town close to me and I couldn´t keep me away from buying it. After 20 year without use, I plugged a new battery, revised oil level, filled the gas tank and it started in two minutes! It is in very good conditions with all the original parts and no modifications, all users manuals very well conserved. Originally bought in 1966 here in Spain. I am in love with it, also with the girl driving it! Nice to find other proud owners in Europe!
-
1 pointMaking some more progress. tranny is back together and painted and I got all the hubs and pulleys back on. Motor is also painted, just have to put it the rest of the way together. Just have to get my wheels powdercoated and buy the rest of the little stuff I need so I can start putting it back together! Thanks, Jake

1 pointAfter those days I have asked for help, I have good news. I said I knew a guy who could make an exact copy. He has done an amazing job. The thumb screws has been made of stainless steel that will not rust. I put a picture of how they have been after all. Finally I don't need to buy them with this awesome work. Thank you so much for your fast responses. I'm very happy for that. I think I can finally finish the restoration in a few weeks. It is a reminder and a tribute to my great-grandfather.

1 pointWhat littleredrider and jc1965 said....properly tuned k181 should fire with a couple revolutions of the starter/generator....definitely worth putting the time into tuning. A k series kohler is tuff to beat!
-
1 pointI couldn't agree more with Puddlejumper. I just rebuilt a K-181 in an afternoon and had it in the tractor and running the next morning. I'm used to rebuilding big blocks and have done a few 181's, but they were for other people, so this is the first one for me. The only "problem" I'm having is getting used to how easily it starts! It runs like a clock and only sips gas (unlike the larger horsepower engines). Just rebuild (or have someone else do it) the motor and you'll be happy again. The cost of rebuilding a K-181 is less than a new motor and, if taken care of, should last many times longer than any replacement engine. That's all I have to say about that.
-
1 pointSpend your money fixing the k181 (right) Not just good enough for now. If you cant do it pay somebody to do it. Theres no reason it shouldnt start almost immediately when you hit the key. Even the pull start 181s start on a half pull most of the time. Its a tough little engine to beat and simple to maintain. If its wore to the point boring and reringing isnt a option used blocks are not that hard to find.
